Ad hoc networking covers multi-hop scenarios (network nodes communicating via other network nodes) such as conference, hospital, battlefield, rescue, monitoring scenarios. Wireless ad-hoc networks are formed by a set of hosts that communicate with each other over a wireless channel. Each node has the ability to communicate directly with another node in its physical neighborhood. They operate in a self-organized and decentralized manner and message communication takes place via multi-hop spreading. A packet is sent to its target node through a set of intermediate nodes that act as routers. Particular ad hoc network systems include packet radio networks, sensor networks, personal communication systems, rooftop networks, and wireless local area networks. This workshop covers the area of ad hoc networking, from physical issues up to applications aspects. In particular, it will cover physical, data link, network and transport layers, as well as applications, security, simulation and power management issues in sensor, local area, personal, and mobile ad hoc networks. It is the goal of this workshop to review ad hoc protocols and models and to reflect the latest in the state of the art in ad hoc networks. It seeks to provide up to date information on research and development activities in rapidly growing area of ad hoc networks. Topics of Interest We are seeking papers that describe original and unpublished contributions addressing various aspects of ad hoc networking. Possible topics of interest include, but are not limited to: - Applications and history of ad hoc networks, - Physical layer of ad hoc networks, - Pervasive and wearable computing, - IEEE 801.11 and Bluetooth based medium access control, - Methods and tools for ad hoc networks simulation, - Analytical, mobility and validation models for ad hoc networks, - Hybrid networks and wireless internet, - Security in ad hoc networks, - Data management issues, query processing, data delivery, - Routing, broadcasting and multicasting in ad hoc networks, - Energy-efficient protocols for ad hoc networks, - Quality of service in medium access control and routing, - Topology construction and maintenance in ad hoc networks. The cover page must contain an abstract of about 150 words, 3-5 keywords, name and affiliation of author(s), as well as the corresponding author's e-mail, telephone number, fax number and postal address. Because of the size limitation on the final manuscript, and to ensure that the reviewed paper and the final version have a similar size, please take into consideration that the final manuscript should be approximately 5000 words including tables and figures (each table and figure corresponds to 200 words). To make it easy to adhere to the final formatting standard, use as reference a 12-page manuscript formatted with the Springer-Verlag LNCS formatting standard, http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html. PAPERS PUBLICATION All submissions will be reviewed by the program committee. Authors of accepted papers must attend the workshop to present their contributions. Submitted manuscripts must not exceed 5 pages in two-column IEEE Transactions style. The intricacies in the services have been supported by increased capabilities in network elements and have compounded the difficulties in maintaining Service Level Agreements (SLAs). The increased complexity in networks poses tremendous challenges for management in terms of functionality, the amount of data to be processed, and the types of data. It is envisioned that distributed management will play a strong role in managing complex networks where the distribution of the various aspects of management such as monitoring, configuration, provisioning, accounting, billing, fault, and performance becomes imperative for greater reliability, scalability and efficiency. Maennel - Technische Universität München N.N. - N.N. 17.09.2003 - 18.09.2003 An der Universität Karlsruhe (TH) ist geplant, einen Workshop zum Thema "Inter-Domain Routing" (IDR) zu veranstalten. Das rasante Wachstum des Internets hat in jüngster Zeit zahlreiche Fragen bezüglich der Skalierbarkeit, Stabilität und Konvergenz der heutigen Inter-Domain-Routing-Architektur aufgeworfen. Es wird teilweise befürchtet, dass aktuelle Lösungen (BGP) in einigen Jahren den Anforderungen nicht mehr gewachsen sind. Aus diesem Grund werden nun zunehmend Anstrengungen unternommen (u.a. in der IRTF) zur Erforschung zukünftiger Routing-Protokolle und Architekturen. Ein Hauptanliegen des Workshops ist es, Forscher, Betreiber und Hersteller zur Diskussion von Ideen und Erfahrungen bezüglich dieser Thematik zusammenzubringen. Für diesen IDRWS werden Vorträge gesucht. Insbesondere sind praktische Aspekte (z.B. betriebliche Erfahrungen und Beobachtungen aus ISP-Sicht) sowie neuartige Konzepte und Untersuchungen aus dem akademischen Umfeld willkommen. Gefragt sind Präsentationen aktueller Probleme des IDR, sowie entsprechende Lösungsansätze oder Entwicklungen in Richtung zukünftiger IDR-Verbesserungen bzw. neuer Routing-Architekturen. Es wird gebeten, einen kurzen Abstract (~150-500 Wörter) über den geplanten Vortrag einzureichen. Die Einreichung eines vollständigen Papers ist _NICHT_ notwendig.
