Workshop: Kooperative Spiele
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tag und Zeit des Workshops: 6. September 2005, 9:00-12:30 Uhr
Ort: Linz, Austria
Einreichungsfrist: 15. August 2005
Moderation:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Motivation
----------

CALL FOR PAPERS
3rd International Workshops on Middleware for
Pervasive and Ad-hoc Computing
http://www.smartlab.cis.strath.ac.uk/MPAC/
A Workshop of Middleware 2005
Grenoble, France
November 28th - December 2nd, 2005
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----
Workshop papers submission deadline: August 26th, 2005
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----
Problem Space
-------------
Building on the success of the 2003 and 2004 workshops, this workshop seeks
to
build on the results presented in a special issue of the Journal for
Personal
and Ubiquitous Computing, and to develop a roadmap for research on the
essential
middleware abstractions and infrastructures for ad-hoc and pervasive
computing in
general, and sensor-based services in particular.
A synthesis of the discussion that took place in the MPAC 2003 and 2004
workshops
has led to the identification of the following areas where pervasive and
ad-hoc
environments challenge existing middleware:
1. Middleware support for programming adaptation and the associated decision
making process.
2. Security, privacy and trust in pervasive environments and ad-hoc
communities.
3. Benchmarks and frameworks for the comparative evaluation of middleware
approaches for pervasive and ad-hoc computing.
4. Middleware abstraction and infrastructures for sensor based services.
Although, the above challenges form a set of potential themes for the
workshop,
this list is by no means exhaustive. Consequently, the workshop seeks papers
on
the areas, but not limited to, listed below:
. Sensor networks: applications, infrastructure, middleware support and
emerging
standards (OMG DDS, IEEE/NIST 1451.x, OSGi WireAdmin, JSR256 & 257 .);
. Calculi for sensor data, and middleware support for their processing and
distribution;
. Sensor data mining;
. Component-based and service-oriented architectures, and design patterns
for
sensor based services;
. Theoretical foundations and middleware support for context based
adaptation
for mobile pervasive systems, and sensor-based services;
. New notations for specifying context-sensitive systems;
. Ad-hoc communities: applications, infrastructure and middleware support;
. Roles and responsibilities in ad-hoc communities;
. Group management and communication support for ad-hoc communities;
. Ad-hoc network communications, quality of service, management and
middleware
support;
. Service-connection middleware and architectures;
. Support for zero configuration;
. Middleware for self-assembly, self-configuration, self-distribution and
autonomic computing in general;
. Data management infrastructures for ad hoc and pervasive systems;
. Trust, security, and privacy for pervasive systems and sensor based
services;
. Reliability and availability in pervasive systems and sensor based
services;
. Technology trade-offs (agent infrastructures, mobile code systems, event
based middleware);
. Resource discovery and management;
. Implications of heterogeneity (addressing needs for protocol interaction
across technologies).
Submission
----------
The workshop format will be focused around submission of position papers of
no
more than 8 pages. Please submit your papers in PS or PDF using the ACM
proceeding format (see http://www.acm.org/sigs/pubs/proceed/template.html)
to
the web site http://www-adele.imag.fr/mpac05/ocs.
Papers are solicited that present a view of the state of the art in a
particular
sub-problem area, identify specific middleware challenges, and suggest
potential
avenues for exploration by proposing models, abstractions and infrastructure
components addressing these challenges. Approximately two thirds of the
workshop
will be devoted to the presentation and discussion of these papers, while
the
remaining third of the time will be devoted to the development of the
research
roadmap.
Papers will be reviewed by at least 2 members of the programme committee.
The
review process will be based upon identifying the relevance and potential of
the
position statement to contribute to the elaboration of the roadmap and to
stimulate discussion.
All accepted papers will appear in the ACM Digital Library as well as in a
hard-copy companion proceedings issued to the workshop participants.
Appropriate publication of extended versions of workshop submissions and the
research roadmap along similar lines to the forthcoming special issue on
middleware and systems software for pervasive computing of the Journal of
Personal and Ubiquitous, is being investigated.

Modeling and Analysis
http://atsma.org/ICTSM2005/
INFOMART center, Dallas, TX
November 17-20, 2005
The 2005 International Conference on Telecommunication Systems -
Modeling and Analysis will be held at the INFOMART center, Dallas, TX on
November 17-20, 2005. The conference will build on the tradition of the
earlier conferences. The general idea is to encourage informal
interaction and exchanges of ideas by limiting the number of
participants, concentrating on a few topics, and by presenting new
problems and problem areas. The objective is to advance the state of the
modeling and analysis in telecommunications by stimulating research
activity on new and important problems.
The conference will be divided into segments with each segment devoted
to a specific topic. This will allow for little conflict between
segments. Papers will be screened by the Program Committee
<http://atsma.org/ICTSM2005/committee2005.html> to ensure the quality of
presentations. Abstracts and papers should be submitted directly to the
Conference Chairman <mailto:gavishb2000@yahoo.com> who will handle its
review. Social and cultural activities will be included in the 2005 agenda.
The Program Committee <http://atsma.org/ICTSM2005/committee2005.html> is
open to any ideas you might have regarding additional topics or format
of the conference. The intention is, to limit the number of parallel
sessions to three. The conference is scheduled over a weekend to reduce
teaching conflicts for academic participants and to enable participants
to take advantage of weekend hotel and airfare rates.
Potential participants should send by July 1, 2005 an extended abstract
or a full paper to the conference general chair. The technical program
committee will evaluate the papers, and a decision will be sent to the
authors by August 1, 2005 with instructions for the final version of the
paper, which is due by October 1, 2005. Full paper contributions will be
considered for publication in the Telecommunication Systems
<http://www.wkap.nl/journalhome.htm/1018-4864> Journal or the Electronic
Commerce Research
<http://www.springeronline.com/sgw/cda/frontpage/0,11855,4-0-70-35740341-0,0…>
Journal. Conference participants will be provided with the conference
proceedings.

First Call for Papers
=====================
The IEEE International Workshop on Heterogeneous Multi-Hop Wireless and
Mobile Networks 2005 (IEEE MHWMN'05)
(http://www.ececs.uc.edu/~qzeng/MHWMN2005/CFP.html)
To be held in conjunction with the 2nd IEEE International Conference
on Mobile Ad-hoc and Sensor Systems (IEEE MASS 2005) Washington DC, USA,
November 7-11, 2005
AIM and SCOPE
-------------
The traditional centralized wireless and mobile networks are based on
single-hop architecture and rely on the existing fixed infrastructure
such as base stations or access points. The proliferation and deployment
of radio access networks such as Wireless WANs, Wireless LANs, and Wireless
PANs with distinguishing characteristics of data rate, coverage range,
power, mobility, and prices will clearly lead to a need for seamless and
ubiquitous access across these various networks. Such an integrated
heterogeneous environment enables a user to access a particular network
depending upon the application needs and the types of radio access networks
(RANs) available (e.g., cellular network, ad hoc, WLAN, WPAN etc). The
heterogeneous multi-hop wireless and mobile networks, on the other hand,
provide unlimited mobility and greater flexibility but introduce a number
of challenges due to dynamic network topology. The design of efficient and
scalable protocols for existing multi-hop wireless and mobile networks such
as wireless and mobile ad hoc networks continue to pose challenges at all
the layers of networking stack. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate
a global heterogeneous architecture and services that together provide
seamless integration of single-hop networks (e.g., cellular, WLAN, WWAN)
and multi-hop mobile ad hoc networks.
The aim of this workshop is to bring together practitioners and researchers
from both academia and industry in order to have a forum for discussion
and technical presentations on the latest research and future research
directions in heterogeneous multi-hop wireless and mobile networks.
We are seeking original and previously unpublished research papers
addressing theoretical and application issues in heterogeneous multi-hop
wireless mobile networks.
