CALL FOR PAPER
The Fourth Workshop on Wireless Ad hoc and Sensor Networks (WWASN2007)
in conjunction with the International Conference
on Distributed Computing Systems (IEEE ICDCS 2007)
Monday, June 25, 2007 in Toronto, ON, Canada
http://www.cs.umanitoba.ca/~softart/WWASN2007.html
CONFERENCE THEME
This workshop covers the area of ad hoc and sensor networking,
from physical issues to applications aspects. In particular,
it will cover physical, data link, network and transport layers,
as well as applications, security, simulation and power management
issues in sensor, local area, personal, and mobile ad hoc networks.
Among the goals of the workshop is to review ad hoc and sensor
network protocols and models, and to reflect the latest advances
in the state of the art in modeling, design, and deployment of
such networks.
Typical topics include (but not limited to):
Key communication abstractions for ad hoc and sensor networks
Topology construction and maintenance
Physical, media access, and routing layers
Routing, broadcasting and multicasting
Energy-efficient protocols
Quality of service in medium access control and routing
Fault tolerance and redundancy schemes
IEEE 802.11 and 802.15.x-based medium access control
Hybrid networks and wireless internet
Models for analysis, performance assessment, mobility, and validation
models
Methods and tools for ad hoc and sensor networks simulation
Heterogeneous networks and challenges in analyzing and designing them
Pervasive and wearable computing
Security, trust, and other security-related issues
Data management issues, query processing, and data delivery
Applications and history of ad hoc and sensor networks
IMPORTANT DATES
Manuscript Submission: January 1, 2007 (extended)
Acceptance Notification: February 15, 2006
Final Manuscript Due at IEEE: around March 15, 2006
SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
Papers should be submitted via email to program chairs
(vmisic(a)cs.umanitoba.ca and ywang32(a)uncc.edu). Papers should
be submitted in PDF format, using either the IEEE Computer Society
proceedings format (two column, 10 point, single-spaced) or a
single-column, 12 point, at least 1.5 line spacing format. There are
no page lenth restrictions on the length of submitted papers, but note
that the paper length for accepted papers will be limited; the exact
details to be determined later. (For your guidance, last year's limit

In conjunction with the IFIP/IEEE Symposium on
Integrated Management (IM2007)
Submission: January 31st, 2007
Workshop: May 25th, 2007
*** AIMS & SCOPE ***
The purpose of this workshop is to present and to discuss new theories,
mechanisms and applications of Autonomic Communication - a new paradigm
for forthcoming networks in the fixed as well as the mobile world. The
focus of ACNM is on intelligent communication, network control and
management paradigms based on smart network and service elements that
are capable to automatically configure and organize themselves.
Autonomic networks will be able to sense their environment to perceive
these changes, to understand the meaning of these changes, and to react
in an intelligent manner through adaptation. This facilitates new ways
to perform network control, management, service creation, etc. Autonomic
networking naturally also applies to mission critical distributed
systems, since autonomic behavior allows for immediate reaction to
changes in the networking environment or context, and correction of any
(predicted) problems. Such behavior also facilitates fault-tolerance and
resilience.
ACNM offers a unique opportunity for researchers in this area to
exchange their research ideas and findings. The workshop will be held in
conjunction with IM2007, which draws many leading researchers in the
field of Network and Systems Management. It is co-sponsored by the IEEE
Communications Society (IEEE ComSoc) and the EU IST Project ANA.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
Distributed applications and interoperable systems have become an
integral part of everyday living, part of the socio-economic ecosystem
of our human environment. With such interdependence between society and
software, distributed software applications must be sustainable and
adaptable in the long term, despite the changes in our environment.
What do we understand by sustainability in distributed applications and
interoperable systems?
How do we ensure our distributed applications can make local adaptation
to specific circumstances of their deployment?
How do we make our interoperable systems evolvable in the face of
widespread change in their environment?
How do we integrate distributed software within the wider fabric of
computing within our modern world?
How can distributed applications and interoperable systems capitalise
and exploit future trends and the changing user demographic?
The DAIS conference series addresses all aspects of distributed
applications and interoperable systems: design, implementation,
operation and maintenance. This time we particularly solicit papers that
address sustainability issues.

2007 Workshop on High Performance Switching and Routing (HPSR 2007)
Technically Endorsed by IEEE Technical Committee of Communications
& Information Security, Communications Software, Communication Switching and
Routing, Computer Communications, High-Speed Networking, Optical Networking
Polytechnic University, Brooklyn, NY, USA
May 30 - June 1, 2007
http://eeweb.poly.edu/hpsr2007
As more and more voice, audio, video, TV, and gaming traffic is carried over
IP, the Internet traffic continues to grow at a rapid pace. Many
network-related applications are emerging for portable devices as smart
cellular phone technology advances, the price decreases, and the
infrastructure to support wireless applications (voice, data, video) is
being deployed ubiquitously to meet unprecedented demands from users. All of
these fast-growing services translate into the high volume of Internet
traffic, stringent quality of service (QoS) requirements, large number of
hosts/devices to be supported, large forwarding tables to support, and high
packet processing and storage capability. These factors create new
specifications for the packet switches and the routers, and new challenges
to the equipment vendors and network providers when designing/operating next
generation switches and routers.
The scope of the High Performance Switching and Routing (HPSR) Workshop is
focused on the technology of high-speed switches and routers, including
architectural and algorithmic aspects of high-speed IP networks, possibly
adopting optical technologies and wireless user access. This workshop will
solicit original contributions which address the key networking technologies
and issues in the years ahead. HPSR 2007 will comprise of technical sessions
for presentation of novel research results, panel sessions for discussion of
hot topics, and tutorials presented by leading international experts.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
* High Performance Switches and Routers
- Route Lookup
- Scalable Fault Tolerant Switch Fabrics
- Packet Classification
- Optical Packet Switching
- System Development
- Impact of Higher Layer Protocols and Services
