Our apologies if you receive multiple copies of this email. 1st Call for Papers 22nd International Conference on Archticture of Computing Systems ARCS 2009 - System Architecture and Energy Awareness - held from March, 10th to March 13th in Delft, The Netherlands Submission deadline October 10th The ARCS series of conferences has over 30 years of tradition reporting top notch results in computer architecture and operating systems research. This year's focus is energy awareness viewed from two different ways. Firstly, this deals with the improvement of computer systems to be as energy efficient as possible (particularly for specific applications). One can think of heterogeneous multi-core architectures or reconfigurable architectures for this purpose. Secondly, this addresses the usage of computer systems to reduce the energy consumption of other systems, which might lead to problems of communication and cooperation. Both aspects are relevant for the conference. Like the previous conferences in this series, it continues to be an important forum for computer architecture research. In 2009 ARCS will be hosted by the Delft University of Technology, which has one of the leading information technology schools in Europe. The proceedings of ARCS 2009 will be published in the Springer Lecture Notes on Computer Science (LNCS) series (pending). After the conference, authors of selected papers will be invited to submit an extended version of their contribution for publication in a special issue of the Journal of Systems Architecture. Also, a best paper and best presentation award will be presented at the conference. Paper submission ================ Authors are invited to submit original, unpublished research papers on one of the following topics: - Energy-awareness, green computing. - Computer architecture topics such as multi-cores, memory systems, and parallel computing. - Adaptive system architectures such as reconfigurable systems in hardware and software. - Operating Systems including but not limited to scheduling, memory management, power management, and RTOS. - System aspects of ubiquitous and pervasive computing such as sensor nodes, novel input/output devices, novel computing platforms, architecture modeling, and middleware. - Organic and Autonomic Computing including both theoretical and practical results on self-organization, self-configuration, self-optimization, self-healing, and self-protection techniques. - Embedded systems including but not limited to architecture, communication, design methodologies, and applications. - Network Centric and Grid Computing issues with a focus on middleware. The INSS provides a forum to hear about the latest developments in these areas, to exchange ideas, and to start up collaborations within these fields and between industry and academia. Call for Scientific Contributions --------------------------------- INSS 2009 is the sixth annual conference in the series, and features a highly selective technical program. We invite outstanding research papers from the field of sensor technology, wireless networking, or application of networked sensor systems. The conference especially encourages submissions that investigate research issues shared between all three areas. INSS 2009 invites the submission of regular, short, and industry papers. All submissions will be peer-reviewed and evaluated on the basis of originality, significance of contribution, technical correctness, and presentation. Papers submitted must not be under simultaneous review for any other conference, journal, workshop, or other publication. All accepted papers will be published from the Society of Instrument and Control Engineers (SICE), and also from IEEE Explore. Regular/Short Paper Track --------------------------------- Regular papers must be 4-8 pages long (two-column format) and include an abstract of 100-150 words. We are seeking two types of proposals: (1) proposals on technical areas of research and (2) proposals on research topics related to new business models and user experiences enabled by mobile and pervasive computing systems. We encourage proposals that deal with the practical aspects of business models and user experiences. We are aiming for a balanced workshop program that avoids overlapping themes and encourage workshop organizers to allocate ample time for discussion. While a single sensor network typically provides access to information of a limited geographical area and selected types of sensor data, a GSN provides an application with uniform and transparent access to a multitude of individual sensor networks that may be geographically dispersed, aggregating and correlating different types of data as appropriate for the application. The challenges imposed by global sensor networks are relevant to many fields in computer communications and distributed systems such as sensor networks, complex event and stream processing, pervasive computing, and P2P overlays. This workshop intends to bring together researchers and practitioners working in relevant fields in order to share ideas, challenges and visions on Global Sensor Networks as well as to foster new cooperation. WORKSHOP TOPICS GSN09 is looking for contributions related but not limited to the following list of topics in the domain of Global Sensor Networks: - Sensor network protocols - Complex event processing - Distributed stream processing - P2P overlays - Middleware - Security - Query processing and optimization - Quality of service - Applications SUBMISSION GUIDELINES Papers should be submitted in PDF format via the workshop page. Contributions may present i) novel and possibly preliminary research results (full papers 12 pages, short papers 6 pages) , ii) position papers describing major challenges (6 pages), iii) new trends from the industry (2 pages). Each submission will be reviewed by three members of the program committee and are selected according to their originality, quality, and relevance to the workshop topics. Accepted papers will appear in the KIVS Workshop proceedings. For accepted papers at least one author must register with the workshop and give a presentation at the workshop. Submissions must follow the KIVS formatting guidelines and must not exceed the given page limits. Note that contributions in English as well as in German are welcome. 6th IEEE Consumer Communications & Networking Conference CCNC 2009 10 - 13 January 2009 in Las Vegas, Nevada. CCNC 2009 will present the latest approaches and technical solutions in the area of home networking, consumer networking, enabling technologies such as middleware, multimedia and novel applications and services. The 6th IEEE CCNC conference is soliciting papers for Short Papers. Papers can address any of the topics covered by the main tracks or the special sessions of the conference and should present leading edge and exciting work and ideas, which perhaps are not yet sufficiently mature for a full conference paper. Short Papers are restricted to 2 pages in length. HotMobile's small workshop format makes it ideal for presenting and discussing new directions or controversial approaches. We solicit submissions of position papers that focus primarily on applications and systems and that propose new directions of research, advocate non-traditional approaches to old (or new) ideas, or generate controversy and discussion. We particularly look for position papers containing highly original ideas in the following topic areas, although papers describing other challenges unique to or exacerbated by mobility are also welcome: * Operating system and distributed systems support for mobile computing * Coordination, aggregation, and spontaneous interaction of mobile devices * Novel applications and environments supporting mobility * HCI issues related to mobile computing * Security and privacy of mobile computing * Management, configuration, and deployment of systems supporting mobility Submissions describing new lower-level technologies are welcome if they focus on how the technology is being used or integrated into a system or application. HotMobile 2009 will be a highly interactive workshop. Submissions will be judged based upon originality, technical merit, topical relevance, and likelihood of leading to insightful discussion at the workshop. To encourage an atmosphere conducive to participation, attendance will be limited to 70 participants. Authors of submitted papers and accepted demo proposals will be given first priority, with others able to register on a space-available basis. Paper submissions are due on Oct 13, 2008 at 23:59:59 PDST. Submissions should contain 6 or fewer U.S. letter pages in PDF format, including all references, figures and tables. Papers should use the standard ACM template, available at: http://www.acm.org/sigs/publications/proceedings-templates Conference proceedings will be published by the ACM. Unlike previous years, printed proceedings will be given to participants at the workshop (rather than having a post-conference proceedings). As is customary, papers must not have been published elsewhere and may not be simultaneously under submission at another venue.
