*Special Issue on “Vehicular Communications, Networks, and Applications”*
*Aims and Scope*
Vehicular communication and networking have been identified as key
technologies for increasing road safety and transport efficiency.
Vehicular networks aim to ensure traffic safety for drivers, provide
comfort for passengers and reduce transportation time and fuel
consumption. The development of vehicular communication and networking
technologies are expected to enable many potential applications,
including automatic collision notification and prevention, emergency
management, assistances for safe driving, real-time traffic congestion
notification, location-based driver information services, high-speed
tolling, vehicle tracking, automobile Internet access, and many others.
To facilitate these applications, many different types of communication
and networking would be involved, including intra-vehicle,
vehicle-to-vehicle (V-to-V), vehicle-to-roadside (V-to-R) and
vehicle-to-infrastructure (V-to-I) communications.
This special issue aims to foster the dissemination of high-quality,
original, unpublished research covering all aspects related to the
Vehicular Communications, Networks, and Applications. Topics of interest
include, but not limited to, the followings:**
* *
* Availability and Scalability Issues in Vehicular Networks
* Communication Protocol Design for Vehicular Networks
* Cooperative Vehicular Communications
* Cross-layer Design and Optimization for Vehicular Networks
* Emergency Applications and Technologies in Vehicular Networks

Call For Paper
ACM Multimedia Systems 2010
February 22-23, 2010
Scottsdale, Arizona
www.mmsys.org
Sponsored by SIGMM in cooperation with SIGCOMM and SIGOPS
Over the years, ACM SIG Multimedia has received numerous requests to
create a multimedia systems conference, targeted at the systems
aspects of handling audio, image, video, and graphics data. We are
pleased to announce the First Annual ACM Multimedia Systems (MMSys)
Conference to be held February 22-23, 2009 in Scottsdale, Arizona.
The ACM Multimedia Systems conference provides a forum for
researchers, engineers, and scientist to present and share their
latest research findings in multimedia systems. While research about
specific aspects of multimedia systems is regularly published in the
various proceedings and transactions of the networking, operating
system, real-time system, and database communities, MMSys aims to cut
across these domains in the context of multimedia data types. This
provides a unique opportunity to view the intersections and interplay
of the various approaches and solutions developed across these domians
to deal with multimedia data types. Furthermore, MMSys provides an
avenue for communicating research that addresses multimedia systems
holistically.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
* Multimedia Systems
* Multimedia Networking
* Multimedia Operating Systems
* Multimedia Databases
* Large-Scale and Remote Display Architectures
* Real-Time Support For Multimedia
* Networked Games
* Virtual and Augmented Worlds
* Cyber-Physical Systems
* Peer-to-Peer Architectures for Streaming and Multicast
* Modeling of Multimedia Systems
* Multimedia Interfaces
* Multimedia Middleware and Toolkits
* Multimedia Programming Languages
* Cloud-based Multimedia Processing
* Multi-core Support for Multimedia
* Mobile Multimedia Systems
Original papers on emerging and traditional areas of multimedia
systems are sought. All submissions should not currently be under
review in another venue and should be prepared using the standard
double-column ACM proceedings style format. Papers should be a maximum
of 12 pages in length.
Papers should be clearly motivated by themes and issues raised
primarily in the context of multimedia applications and data types
such as:
* Continuity of media over time
* Scalability of systems to support multimedia data
* Adaptation of media to support real-time requirements
In addition to the refereed paper publication, there will be two
unique aspects of the Multimedia Systems Conference:
* Multimedia Systems will have an archival site for all its
conferences. Each paper will have a blog area that will allow people
with questions and comments (moderated) about a paper to be
consolidated over time. We hope this will provide a service to the
entire community to allow people to come up to speed more quickly
about papers that have appeared at Multimedia Systems.
* To help facilitate the sharing and common use of data and
software, we will be having a software / data archive track that, as
part of the publication process, will result in a copy of the software
or data archive in the Multimedia Systems web site. This will allow
researchers to more quickly converge on common data sets for
comparisons.
Important Dates:
* September 15, 2009 - Full Paper Submission Deadline
* November 1, 2009 - Notification of Acceptance

Call for Papers for
*******************************************************************************
Special Session on Intelligent Structural Health and Safety Monitoring for
the
12th International IEEE Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems
********************************************************************************
October 4-7, 2009 in St. Louis, Missouri, U.S.A.
Deadline Extended: June 30, 2009 (No further extension will be given)
Using advanced sensor and wireless communication technology, the health and
safety of much of today's critical infrastructure (e.g., bridges, roads,
tunnels, and buildings) can be continuously, autonomously, and remotely
monitored to streamline maintenance efforts and provide early warning of
pending hazards (e.g., structural fatigue, icing conditions, floods, and
fire). These cost-effective systems allow for long-term continuous
monitoring, instead of occasional human inspection, thus providing immediate
detection of potential problems before they become major catastrophes. This
workshop will provide an overview of ongoing research in this emerging area,
including, but not limited to, the development of intelligent sensors,
instrumentation and devices for infrastructure monitoring, wireless sensor
networks, energy harvesting systems, structure reliability analysis, and
modeling, simulation, and implementation of infrastructure monitoring
systems.

=============================== MobiWorld 2010 Call for Paper
============================================
The Second International Workshop on
Mobile IPv6 and Network-based Localized Mobility
Management
(MobiWorld 2010)
http://isyou.hosting.paran.com/mobiworld10
January 9-12, 2010, Las Vegas, Nevada USA
(In conjunction with CCNC 2010)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
== Hot News! ==
- Distinguished papers accepted and presented in MobiWorld 2010, after
further revisions,
will be published in Special Issue of Wireless Personal
Communication (indexed by SCIE).
== Overview ==
As mobile computing is more and more widespread, mobility support for
Internet devices becomes very important.
Mobile IPv6 (MIPv6) is a promising technology that handles the
mobility management and provides the seamless mobile communications.
It is expected that MIPv6, as a standard for mobile communication,
will open the Mobile Internet Age.
In MIPv6, it has been observed that mobility for mobile devices can be
more efficiently handled
if mobility management is broken down into localized mobility
management and global mobility management.
Therefore, host-based approaches such as Fast-Handovers for MIPv6
(FMIPv6) and Hierarchical MIPv6 (HMIPv6)
have been proposed for localized mobility management.
In addition, Proxy MIPv6 (PMIPv6) has been presented for the
network-based localized mobility management (NETLMM),
which does not require mobile devices to be involved in the signaling
for mobility management.
This workshop will focus on the challenges and solutions for MIPv6
with an emphasis on PMIPv6 and NETLMM,
which have recently gained considerable attention. The MobiWorld
workshop will provide an opportunity
for academic and industry professionals to discuss the latest issues
and progress in the area of MIPv6 and NETLMM.
In addition, the workshop will publish high quality papers which are
closely related to the various theories
and practical applications in MIPv6 and NETLMM. Furthermore, we expect
that the workshop and its publications will be
a trigger for further related research and technology improvements in
this important subject.
