The conference series "Communication in Distributed Systems"
(KiVS)--jointly organized by GI and ITG--is the most important and
successful scientific conference series in Germany on all aspects of
technical communication and distributed processing. It started over 30
years ago. In 2011, KiVS takes place from March, 8 to 11, at
Christian-Albrechts-University in Kiel. The program focus is on new
developments in research and practice in the communications area.
Excursions to renowned companies in the vicinity, tutorials on new
technologies, and workshops on special topics round up the conference
program (for the latter, see dedicated CfPs).
Please submit both academic and practical contributions to KiVS 2011!
Three kinds of contributions are welcome:
• Long papers have up to 12 pages and present new scientific results
and well-founded findings.
• Short papers are up to six pages long and describe ongoing work and
innovative aspects of projects.
• Industry papers for the newly introduced Industry Track comprise
about two pages. They present innovative projects, new technologies and
trends from the industrial practice.
Submitted long and short papers may not have been published or submitted
elsewhere. Presentation languages are German and English. All
submissions must meet the language and format requirements as specified
on the conference website http://www.kivs11.de. Submissions will be
reviewed by the program committee with regard to their content‘s quality
and relevance to the conference. Accepted papers will appear in a
conference volume in the Open Access in Informatics Series (OASIcs) of
the Leibniz Center for Computer Science (Schloss Dagstuhl).
Areas of interest for KiVS 2011: KiVS’11 provides a forum for the

information, visit http://www.kivs11.de.
The conference venue is Kiel, the state capital of Schleswig-Holstein.
With about 237 000 inhabitants Kiel is the largest city in this federal
state. Kiel is situated on the Kiel fjord, a 17 km long, narrow fjord of
the Baltic Sea, and on the Kiel Canal, the busiest man-made maritime
shipping lane of the world. The proximity of the Kiel fjord makes Kiel a
paradise for sailors, but also promenaders enjoy a tour alongside the
Kiel fjord in any weather. The Christian-Albrechts-University in Kiel
was founded in 1665 and is the only comprehensive university in the
country. The nearest city is Hamburg-about 90 km to the south.

Special Issue: Mobility
Management in Future Internet
One of the key characteristics of the Future Internet is the synergy and
interworking of existing and new wireless communication environments that
will exhibit ubiquity and multi-access capabilities. The integration of
heterogeneous networks is revolutionizing the ICT area, introducing new
opportunities, better communication channels and an enhanced quality of
provided applications and services. In this environment, a user is able to
connect to a number of heterogeneous RATs (Radio Access Technologies),
either covering the same, or complementing geographical areas. These
networks can be macro-cellular, WLANs, femto-cellular or even ad-hoc. In
this environment, seamless mobility is coupled according to user
preferences, enabling mobile users to be "Always Best Connected" (ABC) so
that Quality of Experience is optimised and maintained. Furthermore,
communication security is required at both communication and service layer
in order to reassure confidentiality, integrity, authentication, and
maintain QoS of on-going sessions in a seamless manner.
This special issue will report the results of latest research efforts on
mobility management in Future Internet. We solicit papers that cover a
variety of topics including, but not limited to:
- Network Architectures and Mobility
- Mobility in Future Internet Initiatives (e.g. FIRE, GENI etc)
- Standardisation fora evolution (IETF: HOKEY/SEAMOBY/PANA, IEEE: 802.21)
- IP-based Mobility Management
- Efficient Handover Algorithms
- Radio Resource Management in heterogeneous wireless networks
- Cross-Layer Schemes
- Privacy and Trust and AAA Management in Heterogeneous Wireless Networks
- Roaming in Multi-access environment
- Modeling, performance evaluation, simulation, and optimization techniques
- Wireless network testbeds and applications
- Interactive media in ubiquitous environments
- Mobililty and Media Delivery
Submission Procedure:

8th or 11th January, 2011, Las Vegas, Nevada
Satellite Workshop of 8th IEEE Consumer Communications & Networking
Conference (IEEE CCNC 2011)
Web page: http://www.grc.upv.es/IVCS2011/
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Aim & Scope:
Vehicular communication systems have increased in popularity and
importance in recent years. New research challenges have emerged. Much
research remains to be done to bring to fruition the vision of future
intelligent vehicular communications applications, which will be
supported by vehicular networks. Suitable consumer technologies will be
needed to enable drivers to exploit the advantages of next-generation
intelligent transport systems. Even as the networks and applications are
still in the R&D phase, the consumer communications aspects of vehicular
communications are growing in importance too. Ultimately it will be the
consumers (namely, the car drivers and passengers) that will determine
the success and acceptance of vehicular communications systems.
This workshop serves as a leading forum to bring together the
researchers and engineers in both academia and industry to exchange
ideas, share experiences, and report original work about all aspects of
car consumer telematics, communications, networking, security and
services. The main purpose is to promote discussions of research and
relevant activities in the design of architectures, algorithms, and
applications for intelligent vehicular communication environments. This
workshop will also address some leading standardization efforts
(802.11p, p1609, TIA TR48, etc.).
Key industrial players (GM, Toyota, Telcordia, BMW, etc.) will be
represented at this workshop.

IOTS 2010
The 1st IEEE/ACM Internet of Things Symposium
http://www.cpschina.org/IOTS/
In conjunction with GreenCom 2010
Hangzhou, China, December 18-20, 2010
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.Overview
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a network of Internet-enabled objects,
together
with web services that interact with these objects. IoT is growing momentum
in
terms of the underlying technology as well as the adoption by corporations,
universities and across many industries. IoT aims at increasing the ubiquity
of the Internet by integrating every object for interaction via embedded
systems,
which leads to the highly distributed network of devices communicating with
human beings as well as other devices.
The widespread adoption of the Internet of Things will take time, but the
process is accelerating thanks to improvements in underlying technologies.
Advances in wireless networking technologies and the standardization of
communication protocols make it possible to collect data from sensors
almost anywhere at any time. Smaller silicon chips for this purpose are
gaining
new capabilities. Significant increase in storage and computing power can
also be
available via cloud computing. However, a large number of challenges remain.
With the increase in heterogeneity, it has become very difficult
to ensure interactions with devices on a unified protocol. The requirements
of
Internet for intelligent interaction with the environment led to the
emergence of wireless sensor networks connected to the Internet. There
exists a
need for those networks to produce their information in an interpretable
form
and to reduce the complexity of accessing sensor services.
2.Symposium Outline

Betreff: HotMobile 2011 - Preliminary Call for Papers
Datum: Tue, 24 Aug 2010 15:08:32 +0000
Von: Iqbal Mohomed <iqbal(a)MICROSOFT.COM>
Antwort an: Iqbal Mohomed <iqbal(a)MICROSOFT.COM>
An: SIGMOBILE-MEMBERS(a)LISTSERV.ACM.ORG
**We apologize if you receive more than one copy of this announcement**
HotMobile 2011
The Twelfth Workshop on Mobile Computing, Systems, and Applications
Phoenix, AZ, USA
March 1-2, 2011
http://www.hotmobile.org/2011/
Sponsored by ACM SIGMOBILE
Preliminary Call for Papers
ACM HotMobile 2011, the twelfth Workshop on Mobile Computing Systems and
Applications continues the series of highly selective, interactive
workshops focused on mobile applications, systems, and environments, as
well as their underlying state-of-the-art technologies. HotMobile's
small workshop format makes it ideal for presenting and discussing new
directions or controversial approaches.
We solicit submissions of position papers that focus primarily on
applications and systems and that propose new directions of research,
advocate non-traditional approaches to old (or new) ideas, or generate
controversy and discussion. We particularly look for position papers
containing highly original ideas in the following topic areas, although
papers describing other challenges unique to or exacerbated by mobility
are also welcome:
* Operating system and distributed system support for mobile computing
* Coordination, aggregation, and spontaneous interaction of mobile
devices
* Novel applications, environments, and devices supporting mobility
* HCI issues related to mobile computing
* Security and privacy of mobile computing
* Management, configuration, and deployment of systems supporting
mobility
Submissions describing new lower-level technologies are welcome if they
focus on how the technology is being used or integrated into a system or
application.
HotMobile 2011 will be a highly interactive workshop. Submissions will
be judged based upon originality, technical merit, topical relevance,
and likelihood of leading to insightful discussion at the workshop.
Presentation at HotMobile is a good way to get early feedback on
research ideas that are a year or more from submission as a full
conference paper to the ACM MobiSys conference or other high-quality
conferences. Submitting a full-length paper on the same topic to MobiSys
in less than a year is unlikely to involve a sufficient increment of
work and maturity of ideas.
To encourage an atmosphere conducive to participation, attendance will
be limited to 70 participants. Authors of submitted papers and accepted
demo proposals will be given first priority, with others able to
register on a space-available basis.
Important Dates
Paper submission due: October 15, 2010
Acceptance notification: December 16, 2010
Revised papers due: January 21, 2011
Paper submissions are due by 23:59 PDT on Friday October 15, 2010.
Paper Submission Instructions
Paper submissions are due on Oct 15th 2010 at 23:59:59 PDT (Pacific
Daylight Time). Submissions should contain 6 or fewer
U.S. letter pages in PDF format, including all references, figures and
tables. Papers should use the standard ACM template, available at:
http://www.acm.org/sigs/publications/proceedings-templates
The workshop proceedings will be published by the ACM.
As is customary, papers must not have been published elsewhere and may
not be simultaneously under submission at another venue. Papers
accompanied by nondisclosure agreement forms are not acceptable and
will be returned to the author(s) unread. As customary with the
scientific peer review process, submissions will be handled as
confidential material during the review.
