Call for Papers
Design and Implementation Series
The primary goal of Communications Magazine's Design and Implementation
Series of articles is to serve the needs of telecommunications and
telephony professionals in industry. Their jobs are often focused on
creating products and services that maximize return on investment and
that operate robustly across a broad range of environments. Typically,
though, engineering represents only a small fraction of the total R&D
effort. This is because many other factors must be taken into account
that are not considered on the chalkboard or in a proof-of-concept; for
example, interoperability, scalability (in both directions),
compatibility (in both directions), cost-of-goods, market dynamics,
security, effective user interfaces, technical risk, serviceability,
manageability, supportability, testability, availability, deployability,
recovery, packaging, etc.
The ability to design and implement solutions successfully in such a
complex environment is gained largely through experience and not through
literature searches or collaborations with industry peers. Hence, the
Design and Implementation Series seeks articles that provide practical
knowledge for creating products and services while retaining the
academically rigorous style and structure typical of Communications
Magazine articles. You can write about any telecommunications or
telephony topic, but we are particularly interested in IP telephony
applications and infrastructure, especially in markets where
non-traditional providers and vendors compete. Emphasize the factors
that contributed to the decision process for your design and
implementation, and tell us about the lessons learned, good or bad, from
the experience. As much as possible, these decision factors should be
generic enough to be applicable broadly to most telephony projects,
regardless of their design details, and thus of interest to
technologists outside the specialty of the article.
*Submission* Prospective authors are strongly encouraged to contact the
Series Editor before writing and submitting an article in order to
ensure that the article will be appropriate for the Series. The
submitted articles should not be published elsewhere or be under review
for any other conference or journal. Articles should be tutorial yet
rigorous in nature. Mathematical equations should not be used (although
some simple equations may be allowed if permission is granted by the
Series Editors and the Editor-in-Chief). Articles should not exceed 4500
words. Figures and tables should be limited to a combined total of six.
Complete guidelines for prospective authors can be found at
http://dl.comsoc.org/livepubs/ci1/info/sub_guidelines.html
Please send PDF (preferred) or MSWORD formatted papers to Manuscript
Central (http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/commag-ieee), register or log

International Journal of Embedded and Real-Time Communication Systems
(IJERTCS)
*Guest Editors: *
Juha Plosila, University of Turku, Finland
Waltenegus Dargie, Technical University of Dresden, Germany
*INTRODUCTION:*
Self-aware and adaptive (SAA) systems are able to perceive the changes
in their status and the surrounding environment, and adapt to these
changes to provide an optimal performance. Self-adaptation and
self-optimization belong to the broad scope of autonomic computing. In
the research community as well as industry, one can observe the
emergence of self-aware and adaptive communication and embedded systems
in various forms, for instance, massively parallel processing, sensor
networks, and cyber-physical systems (CPS). They can be used extensively
in different application domains, including consumer electronics,
medical applications, smart houses, space applications, and automotive
electronics. Properly exploiting self-awareness and adaptation can
strongly benefit every major design concern in system development,
including cost and yield, power and energy efficiency, dependability and
security, as well as design productivity and time-to-market.

*** Verlängerung der Einreichungsfrist: 01. Mai 2011 ***
Abstraktionsschicht physischer Ressourcen in spezifischen
Anwendungsbereichen beziehen.
Rechnerarchitekturebenen
* Ansätze zur Effizienzsteigerung vorhandener Virtualisierungskonzepte
(z. B. Servervirtualisierung, Storage- Virtualisierung und
Netzwerkvirtualisierung)
* Anwendungen der Virtualisierung, kollektive Virtualisierung
* Lastbalancierungs- und Lastaggregierungsverfahren (z. B. Live
Migration-Technologien zur dynamischen Servervirtualisierung)
* Performanceuntersuchungen virtualisierter Komponenten
* Selbstorganisation in virtualisierten Umgebungen
* Aspekte der Virtualisierung, die zur Präzisierung des Virtualisierungs-
begriffs und Systematisierung von Virtualisierungskonzepten führen
Beiträge müssen bis zum 01. Mai anonymisiert über das webbasierte
Managementsystem eingereicht werden. Weitere Informationen finden

IEEE Workshop on Mobile Computing and Networking Technologies (WMCNT 2011)
Call for Papers
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scope
The Third IEEE International Workshop on Mobile Computing and Networking
Technologies (WMCNT2011) will take place in conjunction with the IEEE
International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control
Systems (ICUMT 2011) to be held in Budapest, Hungary, in October 2011.
The Workshop will be a full day event. Continuing the great success of
the previous events, WMCNT 2011 Workshop is anticipated to attract a
large number of high-quality submissions and stimulate the cutting-edge
research discussions among academic pioneering researchers/scientists
and industrial engineers/leaders from all around the world.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Overview
Mobile computing and networking have inarguably emerged among the most
vibrant areas in the field of telecommunications today. Customers’
requirement for immediate response to their prerequisites, targeting on
access to information anywhere in the world at anytime, has increased
the demand for productivity and effectiveness of mobile computing and
networking. Moreover, the convergence of information communications
technology and computing is creating new demands and opportunities for
ubiquitous computing via wireless and mobile equipment without
technological restrictions. Considering also the diversification of
access technologies and their applications that prevail in the present
telecommunication environment, amalgamated with the increased user
mobility makes QoS provision a challenging issue.
Future mobile communication networks offer a variety of high quality
applications. Furthermore, several challenges are imposed by the
demanding wireless networking environment, in terms of network
architecture, channel estimation, propagation and especially radio
resource management. The understanding of these issues becomes even more
demanding due to non-uniform spectrum allocation, various radio resource
management policies, economic concerns, the scarcity of radio resources,
the inherent transmission impairments of wireless links and user mobility.
The aim of the Third IEEE International Workshop on Mobile Computing and
Networking Technologies (WMCNT 2011) is to provide an international
venue for the discussion of architecture, design, implementation,
analysis, measurement, performance and simulation in wireless, mobile
and ubiquitous computing environments. WMCNT 2011 will serve as an open
forum, where novel ideas will be exchanged via bringing together
researchers, developers and engineers in both academia and industry.

MISSION OF IJARAS:Prospective authors are invited to submit manuscripts for possible publication in the International Journal of Adaptive, Resilient, and Autonomic Systems. The primary objective of IJARAS is to provide worldwide readership to high quality, novel, effective approaches to design, develop, maintain, evaluate, and benchmark adaptive-and-dependable systems, i.e. devices and services that are built to sustain quality of service and quality of experience despite the occurrence of potentially significant and sudden changes or failures in their infrastructure and surrounding environments. IJARAS has multiple focuses, ranging from conceptual models and paradigms to technological aspects.
IJARAS builds upon a core mission statement and research direction: The awareness of today's urgent need to structure our computer systems as adaptive systems able to constantly re-optimize in the face of changes both exogenous (environmental) and endogenous (pertaining to internal assets). IJARAS introduces a problem, which implies a research direction---athesis. The truth about this statement is drastically reverberating through several domains, and in so doing several seemingly unrelated research domains such as cross-layer adaptation for mobile devices and business process re-engineering can be regarded as special cases of a larger theory of systems. This vision paves the way to cross-fertilization; and through that, IJARAS aims at becoming a powerful tool to steer novel ideas and inject new research directions in this area.
RECOMMENDED TOPICS:
IJARAS topics include (but are not limited to) the following:
* Mechanisms, both general and special-purpose, to model, design, express, and develop adaptive, autonomic and resilient systems;

Special Issue on Reactive Sensor Networks
Scope
A common assumption in Wireless Sensor Networks is that they comprise
resource-constrained static nodes which sense their environment
and then send their measurements to a central base station through mutihop
routing. Soon, it was realized that this network organization leads to
rapid energy exhaustion of sensors around the base station since these nodes
should relay all the traffic destined for the base station.
In addition, the passive nature of static sensors which can only sense and
are unable to move is not always helpful in target-tracking scenarios or in
cases
where real-time action is necessary for handling emergency situations.
Apparently, a reactive (dynamic) behavior from these networks would be
effective
for dealing with a number of changing operational conditions (e.g. node
failures, energy exhaustion in some nodes) or with real-time events.
This Special Issue will focus on all forms of reactive behavior that can be
incorporated in the functionality of a Wireless Sensor Network and will also
identify new possibilities, opportunities and challenges deriving from this
new paradigm. Topics of interest include but are not limited to:
§ Sink mobility in Wireless Sensor Networks
§ Wireless Sensor Actuator Networks
§ Wireless Sensor Networks with mobile sensors
§ Re-tasking in Wireless Sensor Networks
§ Mobile agent based solutions in Wireless Sensor Networks
§ Node redeployment techniques in Wireless Sensor Networks for improved
connectivity and/or coverage
§ Re-clustering techniques in Wireless Sensor Networks
§ Dynamic MAC and routing protocols in Wireless Sensor Networks for
increased network lifetime
§ Reactive methods in Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks
§ Reactive methods for target tracking in Wireless Sensor Networks
§ Dynamic techniques for data aggregation/fusion in Wireless Sensor
Networks
§ Security, trust and privacy in Reactive Sensor Networks
