PRELIMINARY CALL FOR PAPERS
The Second IEEE WoWMoM Workshop on
Smart Vehicles: Connectivity Technologies and ITS Applications
(SmartVehicles 2015)
June 14-17, 2015, Boston, MA, USA
**** Paper Registration Deadline --- March 7, 2015 ****
**** Paper Submission Deadline --- March 14, 2015 ****

SCOPE AND OVERVIEW
--------------------------------
The development of smart vehicles and more sustainable transportation
systems has emerged as one of the most fundamental societal challenges
of the next decade. At the same time, automotive manufacturers are
striving to make vehicles safer and more environmentally friendly to
fulfil consumers’ expectations and new regulations. To revolutionise our
mobile lifestyle towards a more sustainable and connected future it is
of paramount importance to develop innovative cooperative systems
enabling road users and other actors to exchange information in real
time and in an autonomous manner, pervasive sensing to monitor the
status of vehicles and the surroundings, big data analytics for the
processing of sheer amount of data coming from the transportation
infrastructure, middleware platforms for information management and
sharing, and appropriate interaction interfaces between drivers and
vehicles. Clearly, the seamless integration between mobile devices,
vehicular communication ne!
tworks, and information and transportation systems will face a number
of technical, economical and regulatory challenges.
Authors are encouraged to submit full papers presenting recent
developments, current research challenges and future directions in the
use of networking, communications, data management, and applications to
realise vehicular mobility systems that are more connected, sustainable
and safe.
Topics of interest for SmartVehicles 2015 include, but are not limited to:
+ Vehicular Network as a Sensor Network;
+ V2V, V2I and V2X communications
+ Vehicular mobility support in next-generation wireless technologies
+ Communications protocol design (MAC, routing, data dissemination)
+ Data storage, management, and retrieval in vehicular networks
+ Solutions to connect vehicles with the Internet
+ Big data analytics for ITS applications
+ Security and privacy in ITS applications
+ Multimedia applications, infotainment
+ Cooperative driving, autonomous and smart vehicles
+ Traffic management and efficiency applications
+ Electrification of transportation systems
+ Simulation environments, experimental testbeds, field operational tests
+ Mobile (smart) device integration in vehicles and transport systems
+ Integration of cloud technologies in ITS applications
PAPER SUBMISSION AND PUBLICATION

MobiCom 2015
Call for Papers
http://www.sigmobile.org/mobicom/2015/
As the premier conference on mobile computing and wireless networking,
MobiCom 2015 solicits full papers (limited to 12 pages excluding
references) that focus on theory, system, practice, and challenge of
providing users with a successful mobile or wireless experience. At its
core, we expect papers that address issues related to mobile computing,
security, and communication challenges in the presence of various
wireless and mobile networks. We strongly encourage papers on emerging
mobile/wireless topics including but not limited to Internet of things,
machine-to-machine communications, smart devices, wearable computing,
mobile data science/analysis, mobile social networks, and crowdsourcing.
We also invite papers that integrate mobile/wireless research with
innovations in cloud computing and software defined networking.
Successful papers will address real research challenges through
theoretical analysis, novel system design, and/or real-world measurement
and deployment of mobile systems and applications. The program
committee will evaluate each paper using metrics that are appropriate
for the topic area. The accepted papers will be published in the
conference proceedings. All submissions must describe original research,
not published or currently under review for another conference or journal.
Experience Papers (New!)
The conference invites submission of short papers (limited to 8 pages
excluding references) that present extensive experiences with
implementation, deployment, and operations of mobile computing and
wireless networks. Desirable papers are expected to contain real data as
well as description of the practical lessons learned. The experiences
papers will be evaluated by the MobiCom technical program committee,
primarily for (i) the richness of their data or experiences, (ii)
inferences drawn or lessons learned, (iii) discovery of new problems,
and (iv) their impact on current and future mobile systems and wireless
networks as well as on the society. Note that a paper that builds a
system and presents a limited experimental evaluation is not suitable as
an experience paper. The selected experience papers will be a part of
the MobiCom technical program and will be published in the conference
proceedings. They should be submitted using the same submission
procedure adopted for the full papers. The title of these papers must
have the prefix ÒExperience:Ó.
Challenge Papers
The conference also invites submission of short papers (limited to 8
pages excluding references) that present revolutionary new ideas or that
challenge existing assumptions prevalent among the wireless research
community. These "challenges papers" should provide stimulating ideas or
visions that may open up exciting avenues and/or influence the direction
of future research. Descriptions of new products or evolution of
existing work are not appropriate topics for papers in this category.
While an exhaustive evaluation of the proposed ideas is not necessary,
insight and in-depth understanding of the issues is expected. Challenges
papers will be reviewed by the MobiCom technical program committee and
will be part of the technical program and published in the MobiCom
proceedings. They should be submitted using the same submission
procedure adopted for the full papers. The title of these papers must
have the prefix "Challenge:".
Paper Submission Instruction
All paper submissions will be handled electronically. Authors should
prepare a PDF version of their full paper. Any papers that do not adhere
to the following guidelines will be immediately rejected:
* Full papers - Maximum of 12 pages excluding references (i.e.
submissions may include as many additional pages as needed for references)
* Experience/Challenge Papers Ð Maximum of 8 pages excluding references
* Font size no smaller than 10 points
* Double column format with each column having dimensions 9.25 inches ?
3.33 inches, a space of 0.33 inches between the two columns, and with no
more than 55 lines of text per column
* Fit properly on US letter-sized paper (8.5 inches ? 11 inches)
* Authors' names must not appear anywhere in the paper or in the PDF
file. The PDF file must also not contain any hyperlinks.
All submitted papers would be evaluated through a double-blind reviewing
process, with the identities of the authors withheld from the reviewers.
Please direct any questions about the paper submission process to the
Program Co-Chairs (at mobicom"underscore"pcchairs "at" acm "dot" org).
Awards
All papers will be considered for the Best Paper Award. The program
committee will select a number of candidates for the award among
accepted regular papers. The winner will be selected at the conference,
considering both the paper and the presentation.
This year, we will introduce a new award that we call the Best Community
Paper Award. Among all the accepted papers, the program committee will
select one that contributes the most to the broader research community
in terms of real data or new software/hardware.
Video Presentation
The authors of each accepted paper will be asked to submit a short
1-minute video to introduce the research presented in their paper to the
general public. These videos will be placed on the conference website a
few weeks before the conference, and will be played during the
conference. A selected set will be featured by the social media channels
related to the conference. A best video award will be given at the
conference.

CALL FOR PAPERS
<Special Issue on “Communications Technologies and Infrastructures for Smart
eHealth Systems” in IEEE Systems Journal>
SCOPE
Research advances in healthcare domain have facilitated the integration of
different technologies for smart, cost-effective, reliable, and pervasive
health monitoring of chronic diseases - which have affected around one
billion people worldwide. Current research efforts focus on developing
real-time communication methods, mostly for Body Area Networks (BANs) that
are used to deliver patients´ information effectively. These efforts are
limited to communication within a BAN, however less attention has been given
to connect multiple BANs to remote servers in real-time. In addition, there
is a limited study on the integration of BANs with different technologies
including mobile cloud computing - a technology that may assist in storing
and processing the huge amount of BAN data at competitive costs. Machine to
Machine (M2M) is also considered to be a valuable tool in delivering BAN
data to a remote server/cloud for further analysis. This may assist in
reducing risks and cost of remote health monitoring. Unlike conventional
research in BANs where researchers focused on individual networks, there is
a need to develop innovative communication methods with a focus on complete
and smart eHealth systems. This smart eHealth system must integrate the
aforementioned technologies with multiple BANs, and provide rich healthcare
services to end users. It calls for research on versatile topics ranging
from Physical (PHY) and Medium Access Control (MAC) protocols to BANs
coexistence, traffic characterization, cloud resource allocation, and cloud
monitoring and maintenance.
This special issue will focus on novel communication methods for smart
eHealth systems, by identifying new perspectives and highlight potential
research issues and challenges. Specifically, this special issue will
demonstrate how the emerging technologies including cloud computing and/or
M2M could be used in future healthcare systems. Original review and survey
articles will be considered as well. The topics of interest include, but are
not limited to:
- M2M communication methods
- Energy-efficient PHY/MAC and networking protocols
- BANs and mobile cloud computing
- Cloud resource allocation and monitoring
- Wearable and implantable computing
- IoT for smart eHealth systems
- Fault tolerance, reliability and scalability
- Traffic characterization
- Coexistence issues of multiple BANs
- Security and privacy
- QoS issues in BANs/cloud computing
- Experimental and simulation-based methods
- Case studies of smart eHealth architectures
Papers should address the above specific topics from the system perspective
and in the context of eHealth systems in order to be considered for this
special issue.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Authors are invited to submit original research contributions by following
the detailed instructions given in the “Information for Authors” at
http://www.ieeesystemsjournal.org. In the cover letter, authors should
explicitly state that the paper is submitted to the “Special Issue on
Communication Technologies and Infrastructures for Smart eHealth Systems”.

CALL FOR PAPERS
ACM e-Energy 2015
The Sixth International Conference on Future Energy Systems
July 14-17, 2015, Bangalore, India
http://conferences.sigcomm.org/eenergy/2015/
Computing and communication technologies impact energy systems in two
distinct ways. The exponential growth in deployment of these
technologies has made them large-scale energy consumers. Therefore, new
architectures, technologies and systems are being developed and deployed
to make computing and networked system more energy efficient.
Additionally, and perhaps more importantly, these technologies are at
the center of the on-going revolution in next generation “smart” and
sustainable energy systems. They measure, monitor and control energy
systems such as the smart grid; inform and shape human demand; aid in
the prediction, deployment, storage and control of energy resources; and
determine how utilities, generators, regulators, and consumers measure,
analyze, and collectively control system elements.
The sixth International Conference on Future Energy Systems (ACM
e-Energy), to be held in Bangalore, India in July 2015 aims to be the
premier venue for researchers working in the broad areas of computing
and communication for smart energy systems (including the smart grid),
and in energy-efficient computing and communication systems. By bringing
together researchers in a high-quality single-track conference with
significant opportunities for individual and small group interactions,
it will serve as a major forum for presentations and discussions that
will shape the future of this area.
We solicit high-quality papers in the area of computing and
communication for the Smart Grid and energy-efficient computing and
communications. We welcome submissions describing theoretical advances
as well as system design, implementation and experimentation. ACM
eEnergy is committed to a fair, timely, and thorough review process
providing authors of submitted papers with sound and detailed feedback.
Relevant topics for the conference include, but are not limited to the
following:

Three types of contributions are solicited:
- Regular papers, up to 10 pages in ACM double-column format, should
present original theoretical and/or experimental research in any of the
areas listed above that has not been previously published, accepted for
publication, or is not currently under review by another conference or
journal. Regular papers are intended to describe high quality research
work based on novel ideas that have been thoroughly evaluated. The 10
pages limit is intended to be an upper bound and we encourage the
authors to take fewer pages if appropriate. The review process for
regular papers will include a thorough evaluation by the program
committee, opportunity for authors to respond to reviews, and a
shepherding process to ensure compliance with review comments before the
paper acceptance is finalized.
- Challenge Papers, up to 6 pages in ACM double-column format, should
present revolutionary new ideas that challenge existing assumptions
prevalent among the e-Energy research community. Challenge papers should
provide stimulating ideas or visions that may open up exciting avenues
and/or influence the direction of future research. Descriptions of new
products or evolution of existing work are not appropriate topics for
papers in this category. While an exhaustive evaluation of the proposed
ideas is not necessary, insight into and in-depth understanding of the
issues is expected. Challenges papers will be reviewed by the program
committee and will be part of the technical program and published in the
proceedings. The title of these papers must start with the prefix
"Challenge:" i.e., "Challenge: Rest of the Title."
- Poster and Demo Abstracts, up to 2 pages in ACM double-column format
showcasing works-in-progress; accepted posters/demos will be presented
at the conference. Topics of interest are the same as research topics
listed above. Preference will be given to posters/demos where the

23rd Annual Meeting of the IEEE International Symposium on Modelling,
Analysis and Simulation of Computer and Telecommunication Systems
(IEEE sponsorship pending)
October 5-7, 2015.
Georgia Tech Campus, Atlanta, GA, USA
The MASCOTS conference encourages original submissions describing
state-of-the-art research in the areas of computer networks and
performance evaluation of computer systems. Papers describing results of
theoretic and/or practical significance are solicited. Experimental,
modeling, and simulation studies are all in the scope of the conference.
Works presenting novel performance evaluation methods or providing
insights on design and runtime management tradeoffs are particularly
encouraged.
Broad topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
* Computer architectures, multi-core processors, and memory systems
* Computer networks, protocols, and algorithms
* Databases and Big Data technologies
* Distributed and Cloud computing
* Energy efficient computer systems
* Mobile systems
* Multimedia systems
* Operating systems and virtualization
* Smart grids and cyber-physical systems
* Social networks
* Storage and file systems
* Web systems, enterprise applications and web services
* Wireless, mobile, ad-hoc, and sensor networks
MASCOTS will accept two types of submissions: Full papers (up to 10
pages in length) and short papers (up to 4 pages in length). These page
limitations include all figures, tables, references, and any potential
appendix. All papers should be formatted in two-column IEEE conference
style with font size 10 point or greater. For guidelines regarding
formatting, please refer to the IEEE Manuscript Templates for Conference
Proceedings.
Short papers provide a peer-reviewed forum for late-breaking or
preliminary research results, giving an opportunity for researchers and
practitioners to present and demonstrate their recent research, and to
obtain feedback from their peers in an informal setting. Unsuccessful
full paper submissions, where appropriate, will automatically be
considered for publication as short papers.

The deadline for Nossdav has been extended by a week. Papers should be
submitted before Dec. 17th 2014.
Nossdav 2015, the 25th annual ACM SIGMM Workshop on Network and
Operating Systems Support for Digital Audio and Video, will be
co-located with MMSys in Portland, Oregon.
http://www.mmsys.org/index.php/nossdav-2015
As in previous years, the workshop will continue to focus on both
established and emerging research topics, high-risk high-return ideas
and proposals, and future research directions in multimedia networking
and systems. The workshop is organized in a single-track format that
encourages active participation and discussions among academic and
industry researchers and practitioners. Out-of the-box ideas are
particularly in sought. In addition, a special 25th anniversary session
is being planned.
