Workshop Apr 11th, 2016
Cyber-physical systems are based on networked embedded software systems
which connect computational entities in a collaborative manner with
physical entities of the real world to achieve an overall purpose of its
users. Together with available content and services on the World Wide
Web, they build networks of systems that integrate with the physical
environment. This will lead to radical changes in many application
fields (e.g. energy, mobility, healthcare) and will have an impact on
our daily lives. Many technology leaders are already in the midst of a
global race of repositioning and reinventing themselves by developing
new dynamic CPS inspired business models. However, mastering the
engineering of complex and trustworthy CPS faces serious challenges,
which have to be addressed by the engineering methodologies of the future.
The EITEC workshop series aims at bringing together researchers and
practitioners from various domains relevant to CPS dedicated to
mastering the challenges in engineering of CPS today and in the future.
The workshop will be a venue to share results and new ideas, discuss
upcoming research directions, and to catalyze a joint industry-academia
platform that bridges the gap between scientific results and transfer
into practice.
The workshop will include a keynote presentation by Dr. Bernhard
Schätz, head of "Software & Systems Engineering Department" at the
fortiss transfer institute in Munich. More information on his current
research is available athttp://www4.in.tum.de/~schaetz/.
The organizers invite contributions with a strong focus towards CPS
that describe problem statements, trends, and emerging ideas in the
engineering of CPS. The workshop defines 4 categories of submissions,
targeted to address dedicated topics.
*+++ Paper Categories +++*
Category 1: Problem Statements and emerging ideas Submissions for this
category shall describe open issues in the engineering of CPS of
theoretical or practical nature and discuss / present corresponding
solution ideas or describe industrial and academic challenges for the
engineering of CPS.
Category 2: Demonstration papers
Submissions in this category will present and demonstrate prototypical
features of development tools that address the specific challenges in
engineering of CPS.
Category 3: Research Directions and trends Submissions in this category
shall discuss contributions that address proposals how to shape future
research in the engineering of CPS.
Category 4: Empirical Evaluation
Submissions in this category shall discuss contributions that address
empirical evaluation work related to future research in the engineering
of CPS.
* +++ Topics +++*
Topics for contributions in the aforementioned categories may include:
* Engineering Paradigms: Model-based engineering, engineering
methodologies, quality assurance techniques, engineering for

Crowdsensing/crowdsourcing is a novel data collection paradigm that
leverages this vast mobile sensor network, expanding the scope of
research endeavours and allowing civic issues to be addressed, without
the need to purchase specialized sensors or install and maintain network
infrastructure. Data collected using such applications may come from
unexpected yet interesting and valuable sources, and may allow the data
to come from previously inaccessible locations and contexts.
CASPer 2016 provides a forum for discussion, debate, and collaboration
focused on ideas, trends, techniques, and recent advances in
crowdsensing and crowdsourcing. We invite original research
contributions that advance the state of the art as well as position
papers that pose a new direction or present a controversial point of
view. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
• Algorithms to handle, process, and visualize large-scale
crowdsensing/crowdsourcing data sets
• Data integrity, security, privacy, and provenance for
crowdsensing/crowdsourcing data
• Trust and reputation systems for crowdsensing/crowdsourcing applications
• Determining and assessing Quality of Information for
crowdsensing/crowdsourcing data
• Crowd assisted (human-in-the-loop) approaches to analyzing
crowdsensing/crowdsourcing data
• Context modeling and reasoning in crowdsensing/crowdsourcing applications
• Incentive mechanisms for participation in crowdsensing/crowdsourcing
applications
• Supporting crowdsensing/crowdsourcing in heterogeneous networks
• Crowd assisted pervasive systems and communications
• Novel use of sensors for crowdsensing/crowdsourcing applications
• Energy-efficient mechanisms for crowdsensing/crowdsourcing applications
• Programming abstractions and middleware for crowdsensing/crowdsourcing
applications
• Novel largescale and enterprise crowdsensing/crowdsourcing applications

Call for Papers
IEEE/IFIP International Workshop on Platforms and Applications for Smart
Cities (PASC), 29 April 2016 Istanbul, TURKEY
In Conjunction with IEEE/IFIP NOMS 2016
The accelerated development of the Internet-based information and
communication technologies, telecommunications networks and systems,
sensors and Internet of Things (IoT) has affected the cities worldwide
by changes in physical infrastructure, utilities, buildings, climate,

advanced technology, cities started to generate huge amount of data from
different sources such as power plants, buildings, traffic, water
management systems where smart sensors and meters measure kilowatt hours
of electricity, kilometres per hours of traffic speed, liters of water,
pollutant emission, or kilograms of waste. Smart city platforms bring
data from various city infrastructures and form a unified management
system for different purposes. Therefore integrating high degree of
information technology using platforms and comprehensive applications of
information resources gained great importance. The aim of the workshop
is to br!
ing together researchers, engineers and experts from both academia and
industry to discuss, identify and share experiences in smart city
platforms, application areas and their deployments. We aim to develop

======================================================================
Scope of the Workshop
---------------------
A wealth of unexplored knowledge exists in the power data collected
from smart meters and smart plugs (i.e., metering equipment for
individual wall outlets). Analysis of the data may be used to provide
context-based services (e.g., presence detection), but also serves as
the foundation for novel services (e.g. automated recommendations for
energy savings). To date, the potential of this domain has barely been
explored, although more and more energy data is becoming available due
to the increasing number of deployed smart metering equipment. At the
moment, one of the most important research challenges in smart energy
systems is thus the creation of value-added services that exploit the
information content in energy generation and consumption data such
that they can inspire new functionalities and context models.
The aim of this workshop is to bring together practitioners and
researchers from both academia and industry to have a forum for
discussion and technical presentations of recent advances in the
numerous opportunities opened up by the use of energy data in
context-aware systems. It furthermore serves as a forum for the smart
energy research community to discuss open issues, novel
solutions, and future development of smart energy management systems.
Topics of Interest
------------------
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Distributed infrastructures for collecting energy data and relevant
context information
- Experiences with experimental power metering system prototypes and
pilots
- Novel system architectures for pervasive energy services
- Scalable system concepts and algorithms for processing and analyzing
energy data
- Exploitation of energy data and context information for the
optimized control of distributed loads and energy sources (in
particular, renewable sources)
- Energy services for smart home and office spaces, including energy
optimization and sustainable operation of smart cities, load
disaggregation, generation and load forecasting, and informed load
shifting
- Use cases and user studies of pervasive energy services highlighting
research gaps
- Experiences with prototypes and pilots of smart energy applications
and services
- Privacy, safety, and security in pervasive energy services
