IEEE International Conference on Industrial Informatics INDIN'16, 18-20
July 2016, Poitiers, France
Special Session on "Industrial Wireless Networking" organized by
Prof Mikael Gidlund, Mid Sweden University, Sweden
Dr Johan Åkerberg, ABB Corporate Research, Sweden
Call for Papers
Theme: Wireless communication is very appealing for a broad range of
automation applications, including industrial process monitoring and
control, home and factory automation, environmental, building and
structural monitoring and energy management. Wireless communications in
the automation domain impose a number of research challenges, such as
communication reliability, bandwidth management, latency issues and
energy efficiency. In dynamic environments, very challenging research
issues arrive when non-functional properties, such as real-time behavior
and adaptability, must be enforced. We solicit technical papers
describing original ideas, theory, methodology and experiences from the
design, implementation and deployment of wireless systems for industrial
automation. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
· Advanced network architectures and standards for industrial
sensor and actuator networks
· Protocols for reliable and real-time wireless communication
· Integration and coexistence of heterogeneous wireless networks
· Wireless sensor and actuator networks performance, simulation,
RF measurements, modeling and case studies
· Control over wireless networks
· Security and safety issues in industrial wireless networks
· Emerging wireless concepts, such as related to
Internet-of-Things, for industrial applications
Submissions Procedure: All the instructions for paper submission are
included in the conference website :
http://ieee-indin2016.sciencesconf.org/. A good quality paper may be
considered for publication in IEEE Transactions on Industrial
Informatics subjects to further rounds of review
Reception of full paper: 15 February, 2016
Paper acceptance notification: 10 April, 2016
Camera ready paper reception: 1 May, 2016

URL:
http://www.comsoc.org/commag/cfp/enabling-mobile-and-wireless-technologies-…
CALL FOR PAPERS
Due to advancements in communication and computing technologies, smart
cities have become main innovation agenda of research organizations,
technology vendors, and governments. To make a city smart, a strong
communication infrastructure is required for connecting smart objects,
people, and sensors together. Smart city communication involves multiple
aggregation and access networks that can be either public or private.
The rapid progress in smart cities research is posing enormous
challenges in terms of significance, scope, and problem domain. Smart
cities rely on wireless and mobile technologies for providing services
such as healthcare assistance, security and safety, real-time traffic
monitoring, and managing the environment, to name a few. Such
applications have been a main driving force in development of smart
cities. These mobile and wireless technologies enable several new
services that result into better decision making and actions made by
enterprises and governments.!
Without the appropriate communication networks, it is really difficult
for a city to facilitate its citizens in sustainable, efficient, and
safer manner/environment. Considering the significance of mobile and
wireless technologies for realizing the vision of smart cities, there is
a need for conducting research to further investigate the
standardization efforts and explore different issues/challenges in the
wireless technologies, mobile computing and smart environments.
This FT focuses on the crossroads between scientists, industry
practitioners, and researchers from different domains in the wireless
technologies, mobile computing and smart environments. We envision to
provide a platform for researchers to further explore the domain and
explore the challenges. In this FT, we invite researchers from academia,
industry, and government to discuss challenging ideas, novel research
contributions, demonstration results, and standardization efforts on
enabling mobile and wireless technologies for smart cities.
FOCUS FOR THE FT
In this FT we would like to try to answer some (or all) of the following
questions:
How mobile and wireless technologies can improve the performance and
services provided by smart cities? How to evaluate the impact of mobile
and wireless technologies on smart cities services? What are the key
mobile and wireless technological challenges that hinder the development
of smart cities? How to standardize the wireless interfaces of devices
for communication in smart cities?
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
• Resource and network management in smart cities
• Quality of Service mechanisms for wireless networks in smart cities

*CALL FOR PAPERS*
*IEEE Communications Magazine*
Feature Topic: *Impact of Next-Generation Mobile Technologies on IoT-Cloud
Convergence*
*URL: *
http://www.comsoc.org/commag/cfp/impact-next-generation-mobile-technologies…
In recent years, the Internet of Things (IoT) has brought the vision of a
more connected world into reality with emerging volume of data and numerous
services that are delivered via heterogeneous access networks. At the same
time, Cloud Computing came into play to offer enormous storage, computing
facilities and data sharing opportunities. However, the convergence of IoT
and Cloud can provide new opportunities for both technologies. It can open
a new horizon of ubiquitous sensing, interconnection of devices, service
sharing, and provisioning to support better communication and collaboration
among people and things in a more distributed and dynamic manner. It can
also support powerful processing and storage facilities of huge IoT data
streams (big data) beyond the capability of individual “things”, as well as
to provide automated decision making in real time. Thus, such convergence
can enable the development of new innovative applications in various
emerging areas such as smart cities, smart grids, smart healthcare and
others to improve all aspects of life.
While researchers have been making advances in the study of IoT and cloud
convergence, very little attention has been given to the impact of next
generation mobile and wireless networking technologies such as 5G wireless
networks, software-defined networking (SDN), and cloud radio access
networks (Cloud RAN) on this convergence paradigm. The next generation
networking technologies will be the success factor for realizing this
convergence since they will contribute to facilitate resource constrained
devices to communicate efficiently with faster data generation and
processing as well as improve QoS/QoE in data transmission. In addition, it
can pave the way for a new form of interaction between IoT and Cloud by
supporting better spectral efficiency, network capacity, mobility and
coverage.
This FT (Feature Topic) targets a mixed audience of researchers and
investigators from several communities and research fields, including those
from communications, networks, IoT, multimedia signal processing,
distributed and cloud computing as well as other related disciplines to
share and exchange new concepts, ideas, principles, and methodologies,
aiming to advance the convergence paradigm. We seek high quality papers,
which, have not been published elsewhere and have scientific value relevant
to topics of interest including, but not limited to, the following:
- Next generation wireless communication architectures and protocols for
IoT- Cloud
- Resource allocation, management and configurations for IoT-Cloud over 5G
- IoT big data storage, processing, analysis in Cloud over 5G
- Cloud-based IoT mobility management and QoE/QoS enhancement
- Cloud RAN and spectrum management for IoT
- Cloud-centric software defined wireless networking architecture for IoT
- Test bed and experimental platforms of IoT deployed in Cloud environment
over 5G
- Cloud computing and virtualization for IoT networking infrastructure
supporting 5G
- 5G-supported wireless network test-beds, simulators, open-source codes,
and tools for IoT
- Data security, privacy and reliability scheme for the combined IoT- Cloud
- Innovative applications and communication protocols for the combination
of IoT and Cloud in various fields (e.g., health, multimedia bigdata and
so forth)

Call for Papers
IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid special section on "Smart Grid
Cyber-Physical Security"
Smart grid proactively uses state-of-the-art information technologies in
communications, computing, and control to improve efficiency,
sustainability, stability, and security of the electrical grid. It is a
complex and mission-critical network where real-time intelligence enhances
performance in aspects encompassing power generation, transmission,
distribution, and consumption. Integration of advanced communications and
control into the physical grid, unfortunately, may create vulnerabilities
that can be readily exploited by adversaries to compromise the grid’s
safety, through attacks such as data manipulation and false data injection.
It is therefore imperative to understand the fundamentals and engineering
aspects of cyber-physical mechanisms that can lead to critical failures.
Based on this understanding, system designers and operators may implement
robust defenses for attack detection, mitigation, and forensics to improve
the grid’s reliability and resilience. At the same time, real-time and
fine-grained sensing of information raises privacy concerns that must be
addressed. We plan this special section to address the critical areas of
cyber-physical security and privacy for smart grid. We welcome important
research advances in both basic science and applied engineering. Survey
papers on important topics that unify or significantly improve our
understanding of complex and seemingly disparate nodes of knowledge, as
well as real-world case studies and field experience of major practical
value, are also welcome.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
• Methodologies for modeling and assessment of smart grid cyber-physical
security and privacy
• Privacy protection and trust management
• Intrusion detection and system integrity
• Sensing and control for attack detection and mitigation
• Secure and trustworthy demand-response management
• SCADA and industrial control system (ICS) system security
• Cyber-physical security of vehicle-to-grid systems
• Cyber-physical security of energy storage and management systems
• Cyber-physical security of distributed energy resources (DER) systems
• Cyber-physical security of renewable energy systems (e.g., large-scale
PV and wind farms)
• Cyber-physical security of micro-grids and DC grids
• Cyber-physical emergency and security control/management
• Game theoretic, big data, and machine learning approaches for smart
grid security
• Economics and incentives for smart grid security and privacy
• Authentication, key management, and access control

*CFP: OSPERT 2016*
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CALL FOR PAPERS - OSPERT 2016
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The 12th Annual Workshop on
Operating Systems Platforms for Embedded Real-Time Applications
(OSPERT 2016)
July 5th, 2016
Toulouse, France
co-located with ECRTS'16
http://www.cs.hs-rm.de/~kaiser/events/ospert16/
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OSPERT is a forum for researchers and engineers working on (and with)
Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOSs) to present recent advances in RTOS
technology, to promote new and existing initiatives and projects, and to
identify and discuss the challenges that lie ahead. The workshop, now in
its eleventh year, provides the RTOS community with an opportunity to
meet, to exchange ideas, to network, and to discuss future directions.
OSPERT’16 strives for an inclusive and diverse program and solicits a
range of varied contributions. To this end, the following types of
submissions are sought:
1. proposals for stand-alone presentations (including talks on open
problems, demos & tutorials, calls to action, etc.);
2. proposals for reports on empirical experiments (including replication
studies, preliminary experiments preceding a full conference
submission, and negative experience reports discussing failed
approaches); and
3. technical papers (including short work-in-progress papers and full
workshop papers).
See http://www.cs.hs-rm.de/~kaiser/events/ospert16/formats.html for a
detailed description of the different contribution formats.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IMPORTANT DATES
Submission deadline: April 28, 2016
Acceptance notification: May 27, 2016
Final manuscript deadline: June 10, 2016
Workshop: July 5, 2016
ECRTS'16: July 6-8, 2016
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SCOPE AND TOPICS OF INTEREST
OSPERT'16 is open to all topics related to providing a reliable and
efficient operating environment for real-time and embedded applications.
Developers of embedded RTOSs are faced with many challenges arising from
two opposite needs: on the one hand there is a need for extreme resource
usage optimization (processor cycles, energy, network bandwidth, etc.),
and an the other hand there are also increasing demands in terms of
scalability, flexibility, isolation, adaptivity, reconfigurability,
predictability, serviceability, and certifiability, to name a few.
Further, while special-purpose RTOSs continue to be used for many
embedded applications, real-time services are also increasingly
introduced and used in general-purpose operating systems, and market
pressures continue to blur the lines between the two formerly distinct
classes of operating systems. Notable examples are the various flavors
of real-time Linux that support time-sensitive applications, the
emergence of commercial and open-source real-time hypervisors, as well
as the growth in features and scope of embedded OS and middleware
specifications such as AUTOSAR.
OSPERT'16 is dedicated to the advances in RTOS technology required to
address these trends. As such, areas of interest include, but are not
limited to, the following topics:
- Case studies and experience reports
- Certification and verification of RTOSs and middleware
- Coordinated management of multiple resources
- Dynamic reconfiguration and upgrading
- Empirical comparisons and evaluations of RTOSs
- Flexible processor, memory, and I/O scheduling
- Interaction with reconfigurable hardware
- Operating system standards (e.g., AUTOSAR, ARINC, POSIX, etc.)
- Power and energy management
- Quality of Service guarantees
- Real-time Linux variants
- Real-time virtualization and hypervisors
- RTOSs for manycore platforms
- Scalability, from very small scale embedded systems to full-fledged RTOSs
- Security and fault tolerance for embedded real-time systems
- Support for multiprocessor architectures
- Support for component-based development
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SUBMISSION FORMATS
- Stand-alone presentation proposals: abstract (~500 words).
- Short WiP papers: up to three A4 pages, standard IEEE formatting.
- Full workshop papers: up to six A4 pages, standard IEEE formatting.
Visit http://www.cs.hs-rm.de/~kaiser/events/ospert16/ for further details.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CO-LOCATED WITH ECRTS'16
OSPERT 2016 is a satellite workshop of the 28th Euromicro Conference on
Real-Time Systems (ECRTS 2016), the premier European venue for
presenting research into the broad area of real-time and embedded
systems.
