CALL FOR PAPERS
Med-Hoc-Net 2015
The 14th IFIP Annual Mediterranean Ad Hoc Networking Workshop
Technically Co-sponsored by IEEE Communications Society
http://medhocnet2015.uc.pt/
June 17-19, 2015
Vilamoura, Algarve, Portugal
OVERVIEW
The unstoppable evolution of network technologies is paving the way to
new network and users scenarios, driving creative services and building
new business models. Wide and easy connectivity, network
programmability, fast speed connections and decoupled data and
management repositories, as well as smart devices are all of them
facilitating innovation in the networking and services arena.
MED-HOC-NET 2015 focuses on fundamental network concepts, but also on
topics related to those network paradigms attracting large attention by
the scientific and industrial communities. Hence, the conference
includes topics such as smart cities, smart transportation, IoT,
data-centric operations, autonomous organization, seamless connectivity
and cross-layer design and application scenarios (road safety, disaster
recovery, smart cities, energy efficient buildings, sensors, actuators,
wearables, etc.). Moreover, novel and exciting challenges are
introduced by commercial systems adopting the ad hoc paradigm, from
mesh, sensor and vehicular networks, and by associated delay-tolerant
and opportunistic scenarios. Furthermore, today's market explosion of
smart phones is creating new opportunities for wireless ad hoc social
networks, the study of which requires the combination of opportunistic
ad hoc networking aspects with the understanding of social behavior and
mobility patter!
ns.
Following recent successful conferences in Sicily (2006), Corfu (2007),
Palma de Mallorca (2008), Haifa (2009), Juan-les-pins (2010), Favignana
Island (2011), Cyprus (2012), Corsica (2013) and Slovenia, Med-Hoc-Net
2015 will take place in Algarve.
Accepted and presented papers will appear in the conference proceedings
published by the IEEE in IEEEXplore.
TOPICS
Papers are solicited in a variety of topics related to ad hoc, wireless,
sensor, mesh, delay-tolerant, content-centric and opportunistic
networks, including but not limited to:
• Routing algorithms and protocols
• MAC protocols, scheduling, power control, and resource allocation
• Transport layer protocols for multi-hop networks
• Middleware for Ad Hoc networks
• Application driven architectures and protocols
• Internet of Things
• Smart cities
• Sensor network applications and protocols
• Vehicular networks
• Cognitive radio networks
• Integration of ad hoc networks with wireless access networks
• Implementations, testbeds, and prototypes
• Technology related issues (IEEE 802.11, Bluetooth, ZigBee, IEEE
802.16, etc.)
• Self-organization and network reconfiguration

The 11th International Conference onDistributed Computing in Sensor Systems
(DCOSS)Fortaleza, BrazilJune 10
-
12, 2015
Distributed sensor systems are paving the way to novel applications
unfeasible with mainstream technology, or are proving effective in reducing
costs of established practices. In parallel with these developments, the
underlying technology is rapidly evolving, ultimately encompassing
platforms such as battery-operated tiny low-power sensors; embedded devices
equipped with significant processing capabilities, but still able to be
effectively immersed in the environment; personal mobile devices, for
example, smartphone and tablets; as well as autonomous robots able to
bring sensing at the right place and at the right time.
The focus of DCOSS is to create a forum where to communicate cutting-edge
research contributions on distributed computing issues in large scale
networked sensor systems. These include algorithms and applications,
systems design techniques, platforms and tools, as well as in-network
signal and information processing. The 11st edition of DCOSS will be
organized along four topical tracks: 1) “Applications, Systems, Real

OVERVIEW
========
Micro and nano aerial vehicles (MAVs and NAVs), often referred to as
drones, are unmanned aerial vehicles of various forms, such as small
quadrocopters, airplanes, balloons, or tiny flapping wing vehicles. They
are novel mobile unmanned systems currently investigated in various
mission-oriented civilian applications. Recent popular applications
employing MAVs are 3D-mapping, search and rescue, surveillance, farmland
and construction monitoring, delivery of light-weight objects and
products (e.g., Amazon has recently advertised their new drone delivery
system), or video taking during sports events. Such drones are
autonomous systems with a good awareness of their environment, provided
by rich on board sensors, such as gyroscopes, accelerometers, lasers,
GPS units and cameras, and embedded image processing. Nevertheless, all
useful applications require a reliable communication link, or even rely
on fleets of MAVs that need to coordinate their activities.
DroNet welcomes contributions dealing with communication aspects of
micro aerial vehicles, theoretical studies, algorithm and protocol
design for flexible aerial networks, as well as mission-oriented
contributions dealing with requirements, constraints, safety issues, and
regulation. We are particularly looking for papers reporting on system
aspects and experimental results, summaries of challenges or
advancements, measurements, or innovative applications. The program
seeks original work of potentially interdisciplinary teams to present
robotic work or applications focusing on the communication challenges or
requirements to the audience.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Drone ad-hoc networks
- Micro flying systems
- Aerial communication protocol design (requirements and challenges)
- MAC and routing protocols for MAV fleets
- Theoretical analysis and models for drone networks
- Solutions for sparse and dense fleets of MAVs
