Call for Papers
** 2nd ACM Conference on Information-Centric Networking (ICN 2015) **
Sponsored by ACM and ACM SIGCOMM
http://conferences.sigcomm.org/acm-icn/2015
San Francisco, USA, September 30 - October 2, 2015
Information Centric Networking (ICN) is a new network architecture intended
to provide access to information without requiring an explicit binding of
that information to a particular location. By directly addressing
information, ICN supports mobile users and mobile networked devices, offers
a higher-level communication service to applications, and promotes
authentication and efficiency in the transmission and dissemination of
information. Over the last few years, a global research and development
community has grown around the idea of ICN.
ACM ICN 2015 is the second edition of the ACM Conference on
Information-Centric Networking, which follows a series of workshops on ICN
held in conjunction with the ACM Sigcomm conference. ACM ICN 2015 is the
premier international forum for researchers and practitioners to present
and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, experiences, and
challenges in information centric networking. ACM ICN 2015 will be a
single-track conference featuring paper and poster presentations, panel
discussions, and demonstrations.
The Technical Program Committee of ACM ICN 2015 invites high-quality
submissions describing unpublished research results in all aspects of ICN,
with particular emphasis on contributions to architectural designs and
reproducible experimental evaluations. Papers submitted for consideration
should not have been already published elsewhere and should not be under
review or submitted for review elsewhere during the consideration period.
Specifically, authors are required to adhere to the ACM Policy and
Procedures on Plagiarism
(http://www.acm.org/publications/policies/plagiarism_policy) and the ACM
Policy on Prior Publication and Simultaneous Submissions
(http://www.acm.org/publications/policies/sim_submissions).
Topics of interest include:
* Architecture design and evaluation
* Comparison of different ICN architectures
* Interoperability across ICN architectures
* ICN evaluation methodology and metrics
* Analysis of scalability issues in ICN
* ICN enabled applications
* Routing in ICN
* Transport issues in ICN
* Caching
* Mobility support
* Trust management and access control
* Management in ICN
* ICN economics and business models
* Tools, experimentation facilities, and measurement methodology for ICN
* Experience from implementation
* Feasibility studies of ICN for high speed networking
* Privacy
* ICN Deployment
* ICN APIs

Workshop: June 22nd, 2015
Scope
The main goals of a smart-city are to improve sustainability and
livability, to ease city government and organization, and to increase
services to the citizens. The primary role of ICT in enabling this
vision is to keep the decision makers, the stake holders and the citizen
constantly updated with fresh information collected around the city.
To accomplish this task, next generation cities, will be populated with
billion of heterogeneous devices ranging from tiny communicating objects
(e.g., actuators, sensors, tags) able to interact with the surrounding
environment and remote systems, to high-end nodes (e.g., data centers,
workstations) capable of complex operations and to process an huge
amount of information. In this futuristic scenario a very special role
is played by citizens with their smartphones, tablets and portable
devices. They are constantly connected with whatever surroundings them
and they are formidable information consumers. At the same time,
citizens roaming around the city may be considered as mobile probes
which, by making uses of cyber and physical data accessible by
smartphones, can analyze the situation and produce reports to the
community. Furthermore smartphones can actively contributing in creating
the communication infrastructure by forwarding data coming from
surrounding devices.
All in all, cities are going to become a new complex ecosystem which has
the potentiality to offer many amazing features and support innovative
application. Unfortunately, fully exploiting, managing and accessing
that ecosystem are still far to be fully viable and their fulfillment
surely poses a formidable challenge.
The SWANSITY workshop aims to solicit contributions on novel algorithms,
methodological studies and experimentations on how to enable the
formerly described ecosystem. Specifically, on how devise a city-wide
networking infrastructure capable to efficiently guarantee communication
in the new envisaged ecosystem, to manage the complexity of
heterogeneous devices and access technologies, and to guarantee robust,
ubiquitous, and secure connectivity over the urban environments.
In line with such objectives, original contributions are solicited in
topics of interest including, but not limited to, the following:
- Models of network components’ interactions on a smart-city
- Enabling wireless and mobile technologies for smart cities
- Novel communication protocols for M2M Communications;
- Device-2-Device Communications (D2D);
- IoT architectures and middleware for smart cities;
- Self-organizing wireless networks for pervasive urban access;
- Network virtualization for heterogeneous wireless networks;
- Distributed Sensing and Control in Smart Cities;
- Mobile-aware cloud computing models, infrastructures, and approaches
for smart cities
- Smartphone-based sensing systems, tools, applications in Smart City
environments;
- Smartphone and mobile systems and applications;
- Cyber-physical interactions with smartphones;
- Crowd sourcing in smart cities;
- Dynamic trust management models for Smartphone based networks and
applications;
- Cooperation incentive models for Smartphone based networks and
applications;
- Reliability, Security, Privacy and Trust in smart cities ecosystems;
- Business model to promote users collaboration and resources sharing in
smart cities ecosystems;
- Testbed demonstrating the feasibility of Smartphone based networks and
interaction with Cyber physical Systems;
- Applications, Business, Standards, and Social Issue;
- Security models to promote Smartphone collaboration and resources sharing
- Cooperative Smart Objects supporting Wireless Networks
Interoperability and Management

Scope:
======
Internet of Things, Smart-cities and Fog computing are representative
examples of modern ICT paradigms that aim to describe a dynamic and
global cooperative infrastructure built upon objects intelligence and
self-configuring capabilities; these connected objects are finding their
way into vehicles (smart-cars), urban areas (smart-cities) and
infrastructure (smart-grid).
Objects need to be smart, with enough intelligence and sensors to
perform required operations. They must be able to wirelessly communicate
with other nodes or remote centre in their network, exchanging
information and receiving instructions in a reliable and secure way.
They must be autonomous, capable of managing the energy resources in
order to extend their lifetime span. Considered objects may include
everything from lightweight sensors to smart-gadgets like smartphones
and wearable devices.
The increased smartness of the participating objects is crucial to solve
the issues derived from the required cooperation and possibly
unpredictable and intense mobility. The objects can move in many
different ways, covering transportation means from (i) terrestrial, like
cars or trains, to (ii) aerial like drones or planes, and (iii)
underwater ships. But even static objects should be flexible enough to
efficiently handle on-off patterns imposed for energy savings.
The SMARTOBJECTS workshop focuses on experiences with the design,
implementation, deployment, operation and evaluation of novel
communication approaches and systems for smart objects in the emerging
cooperative environments. We are therefore seeking original, previously
unpublished papers empirically addressing key issues and challenges in
the smart objects arena.
Topics:
=======
• App concepts and technologies for different mobile platforms
• Communication between mobile devices and cars
• Communication for drone coordination
• Content Distribution
• Data collection, organization and dissemination methods

CALL FOR PAPERS AND DEMOS
Extreme Conference on Communication and Computing - The Savannah Expedition
ExtremeCom 2015
3-7 August 2015, Kenya
http://www.extremecom.org/
******************************************************************
Scope
-----
The Extreme Conference on Communication and Computing (ExtremeCom) brings
together researchers and practitioners in areas related to communications in
rural, remote or other extreme environments, and computing in extreme
operating conditions such as extreme temperatures and energy constraints,
extreme quantities ("big data"), extremely large-scale systems, and extreme
levels of threat and uncertainty, in order to gain experience and
insight into
the challenges that such environments pose for the network and the users.
We welcome a broad range of topics concerning both technical and economical
aspects, for example wireless communication, mobile computing, low power
devices and protocols, delay tolerant networks and other networking
paradigms,
distributed computing paradigms, big data, distributed systems, cloud
computing, business and services models, user experiences and web
applications. Researches addressing computing challenges in general mobile
environments (even not completely extreme) are also welcomed by the
conference.
Following on from the success of ExtremeCom 2009 - The Midnight Sun
Expedition
in Laponia, Sweden, ExtremeCom 2010 - The Himalayan Expedition in
Dharamsala,
India, ExtremeCom 2011 - The Amazon Expedition in Manaus, Brazil, ExtremeCom
2012 - The Swiss Alps Winter Expedition in Zurich, Switzerland, ExtremeCom
2013 - The Volcanic Expedition in the Eyjafjallajökull Volcano region in
Iceland, and ExtremeCom 2015 - The Galapagos Expedition in Ecuador, we
present
the ExtremeCom 2015 edition: The Savannah Expedition. The conference will
start with 3 days of excursions in the amazing nature of the Kenyan
savannah.
Along the way, participants will get to see and experience the varying
landscape and its plant and animal life. Additionally, we will visit
existing
deployments of networked systems in the area and learn from their
experience.
The immersion will not only give a better idea of both the technical and
user
requirements of such a harsh environment, but it will also give many
opportunities for informal research discussions between the participants.
Participants that have their own software for scenarios like this will also,
to as great an extent as possible, be encouraged to test and demonstrate it
within this environment. After the excursions, there will be two days of
paper
presentations and demos. Focus will still be on informal research
discussions,
with the hope that the field experience will give participants the
ability to
discuss the topics in a new light.
******************************************************************
Important dates
---------------
Submission deadline: May 21, 2015
Notification of acceptance: June 7, 2015
Early registration deadline: July 1, 2015

Submission Guidelines
---------------------
Participants should submit 6 page papers about ideas and visions about the
topics of the conference or demo proposals to be shown during the
conference.
Visionary and thought-provoking papers that are likely to generate much
discussion during the conference are especially solicited. The aim of the
conference is to maintain an informal environment, where new research ideas
can be discussed and developed. We also hope to have a demo session where
participants can show their implementations and systems. If you want to
show a
demo, please submit a 2 page demo proposal using the same submission
system as
for conference papers. Accepted papers will be published in the ACM Digital
Library. A selected set of top submissions will be fast-tracked to a special
issue in a reputed SCI/E journal.
We only accept PDF files, no greater than 6 pages in length (2 pages for the
demos), including text, figures and references. Manuscripts should use
the ACM
templates (for LaTeX, please use Option 2 files), with 9pt fonts.
Topics for the conference include, but are not limited to:
----------------------------------------------------------
* Testbeds for large-scale sustainable testing of moobile communication
systems
