IEEE CNS 2016 - IEEE Conference on Communications and Network Security
Philadelphia, USA -- October 17-19, 2016

******************************************************************************
IEEE CNS 2016 Call For Papers
IEEE Conference on Communications and Network Security (CNS) is a
recently added conference series in the IEEE Communications Society
(ComSoc) core conference portfolio and the only ComSoc conference
focusing solely on cyber security. The goal of CNS is to provide an
outstanding forum for cyber security researchers, practitioners, policy
makers, and users to exchange ideas, techniques and tools, raise
awareness, and share experience related to all practical and theoretical
aspects of communications and network security.
Building on the success of the past three years’ conferences, IEEE CNS
2016 seeks original high-quality technical papers from academia,
government, and industry. Topics of interest encompass all practical and
theoretical aspects of communications and network security, all the way
from the physical layer to the network layer to applications reliant on
a secure communication substrate. Submissions with main contributions in
other security areas, such as information security, software security,
system security, or applied cryptography, will also be considered if a
clear connection to secure communications/networking is demonstrated.
Particular topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
· Anonymization and privacy in communication systems
· Biometric authentication and identity management
· Computer and network forensics
· Data and application security
· Data protection and integrity
· Availability of communications, survivability of networks in the
presence of attacks
· Key management and PKI for networks
· Information-theoretic security
· Intrusion detection and prevention
· Location privacy
· Mobile security
· Outsourcing of network and data communication services
· Physical layer security methods, cross-layer methods for
enhancing security
· Secure routing, network management
· Security for critical infrastructures
· Security metrics and performance evaluation
· Security and privacy for big data
· Security and privacy in body area networks
· Security and privacy in content delivery network
· Security and privacy in cloud computing and federated cloud
· Security and privacy in crowdsourcing
· Security and privacy in the Internet of Things
· Security and privacy in multi-hop wireless networks: ad hoc,
mesh, sensor, vehicular and RFID networks
· Security and privacy in peer-to-peer networks and overlay networks
· Security and privacy in single-hop wireless networks: Wi-Fi, Wi-Max
· Security and privacy in smart grid, cognitive radio networks,
and disruption/delay tolerant networks
· Security and privacy in social networks
· Security and privacy in pervasive and ubiquitous computing
· Social, economic, and policy issues of trust, security, and privacy
· Traffic analysis
· Usable security for networked computer systems
· Vulnerability, exploitation tools, malware, botnet, DDoS attacks
· Web, e-commerce, m-commerce, and e-mail security
PLEASE NOTE: To be published in the IEEE CNS 2016 Conference Proceedings
and to be eligible for publication in IEEEXplore®, an author of an
accepted paper is required to register for the conference at the full
(member or non-member) rate, and the paper must be presented by an
author of that paper at the conference unless the TPC Chair grants

entrepreneurship energy by hosting its 1st innovation challenge
panel/pitchfest. At this panel, innovators from both academia and
industry will present their entrepreneurial ideas and compete for a
significant cash prize that can seed further prototype development. The
judges panelists include Tier-1 venture capitalists from Silicon
Valley, industry veterans and top academicians.
We solicit original, business-worthy and technically groundbreaking
ideas in the area of networking and communications for this panel.
Submissions must describe the high-level vision, top value proposition
to potential users, and technical merit of the idea in a 1-page paper.
Submissions can, optionally, include a link to a 2-min video that can
make a crisp pitch of the idea. Of the submitted proposals, we will

Workshop on Hilariously Low-Power Computing: Pushing the Boundaries of
Intermittently Powered Devices (HLPC2016)
Co-located with ASPLOS'16
April 2, 2016, Atlanta, GA, USA
http://www.hlpc2016.com/index.html
Scope:
Intermittently Powered Devices (IPDs) are embedded devices that have no
tethered power supply and very little, or no energy storage capacity.
These devices typically operate using energy harvested from their
environment e.g., RF, solar, vibration, etc. When energy is
intermittently available, IPDs can perform computation, use peripheral
devices (e.g., sensors), and communicate (e.g., via backscatter). These
devices currently operate at approximately 10 microJ/Byte energy
consumption, enabling today's devices to support simple, short-lived,
primarily isolated applications. With improvements in computer
architectures, hardware and software systems, the communications stack,
emerging memory technologies, and energy harvesting and transfer, we
envision devices that operate in the sub-nJ/Byte range, supporting
long-running, sophisticated, sensor-rich, widely-communicating applications.
This workshop exists to bring together researchers at the intersection
of programming languages, software systems, extreme low-power computer
architecture, and embedded communication and computing devices.
Call for Papers:
The workshop seeks paper submission in four main areas:
IPDs (Intermittently Powered Devices)
IPDs at the limits of minimum power consumption - HLPDs (Hilariously Low
Power Devices) IPDs that are embedded - DEIs (Deeply Embedded IPDs) IPDs
and communication - HLPComms (Hilariously Low-Power Communication) These
areas are mapped into topic for consideration that include:
Software-defined wirelessly-programmable IPDs Programming techniques for
IPDs Backscatter and other ultra-low power communication primitives
System support for reliability and robustness to intermittence Computer
architecture for IPDs Operating systems for IPDs Applications of
emerging, non-volatile memory and compute devices in IPDs Novel energy
harvesting and transfer techniques Tradeoffs between power transfer and
communication and coding for both Error-correction and control (both for
storage and communication) Theoretical limits of computation and
communication in IPDs Studies and experience reports on emerging IPD
applications Testbeds, platform engineering reports, and experimental
datasets
Deadlines:
Paper Submission: February 15, 2016 (GMT-5) Notification of acceptance:
March 4, 2016 (GMT-5) Final paper submission: March 18, 2016 (GMT-5)
Workshop day: April 2, 2016
Paper Submission Guidelines
Papers must be formatted using the ACM SIGPLAN style guidelines. Papers
can be at most 6 pages in length including figures, tables, and
references. For further details on the submission process please consult
