Call for Papers: IEEE Network Special Issue on
-------------------------------------------------------------
** Vehicle-to-Grid Networks **
-------------------------------------------------------------
The past decade has witnessed an explosive growth in the developments
and deployments of Electric Vehicles (EVs) (including unmanned
vehicles), leading to a multidisciplinary research area called Vehicle
to Grid (V2G) networks which cover power grid, communication networks,
and transportation systems. From the perspective of power sector, V2G
networks necessitate a careful management of the energy flow for
charging/discharging a tremendous number of EVs, with the objectives of
guaranteeing grid stability, improving energy utilization, and reaping
potential arbitrage value. Meanwhile, as indispensable bridges for
managing the EVs connected to the power grid and the associated energy
flows in V2G networks, designs of efficient communication networks for
facilitating V2G/V2V communications are indispensable. Such designs not
only cover a wide range of important directions such as network
infrastructures, cross layer communication protocols, signaling systems,
quality of service!
, and resource managements, but also need the integration of the
emerging ICT technologies such as M2M (or D2D) communications, IoT
networks, software defined networks. Moreover, driven by the growing
security issues in cyber spaces, securing the operations and
communications of V2G networks and protecting the privacy of EV owners
will be of practical and timely importance.
This special issue aims to provide a platform for sharing the recent
research and development on V2G networks. We solicit papers covering
various topics of interest that include, but are not limited to the
following:
* Network Architectures and Topology Designs for V2G Networks; *
Cross-Layer Communications Protocols for V2G Networks; * QoS
Provisioning for V2G Networks; * Transportation Networks and V2G
Networks; * IoT and M2M for V2G Networks; * Software Defined Networks
for V2G Networks; * Narrow-band LTE for V2G Networks; * Security,
Privacy, Integrity, and Trust for V2G Networks; * Big Data Analytics for
V2G Networks; * Energy (Charging/Discharging) Managements for V2G
Networks; * EV-Mobility Modeling and Managements for V2G Networks; *
Autonomous Driving Vehicles for V2G Networks; * Distributed Energy and
Storage Systems for V2G Networks;
* Testbeds and Platforms for V2G Networks.

Wireless sensor and robot networks (WSRNs) are the confluence point
where the traditional fields of wireless sensor networks (WSNs), robot
networks and control theory meet. In WSRN, nodes collaborate to
accomplish distributed sensing and actuation tasks. Leveraged by the
control and mobility of actors, the networking process and applications
embrace a whole new set of possibilities. Actors may deploy, repair and
relocate sensors to improve coverage, build routes and fix network
partition to ensure data communication, change network topology to shape
routing patterns and balance energy consumption, and respond to reported
events in a timely and effective manner. The benefits are limited only
by imagination. As an emerging field, WSRNs are in need of new
networking techniques, by which they can fully exploit their
particularities and potentials.WiSARN aims to bring together
state-of-the-art contributions on the design, specification and
implementation of architectures, algorithms and protocols for current
and future applications of WSRN.
Topic of Interest

Wireless on-demand network systems and services have become pivotal in
shaping our future networked world. Starting as a niche application
over Wi-Fi, they can now be found in mainstream technologies like
Bluetooth LE, LTE Direct and Wireless LANs, and have become the
cornerstone of upcoming networking paradigms including mesh and sensor
networks, the Internet of Things, cloud networks, vehicular networks,
disruption tolerant and opportunistic networks, underwater and
intra-body networks.
The challenges of this exciting research field are numerous. Examples
include how to make smart use of these novel technologies when
multiple technologies or a mix of permanent services and on-demand
networking opportunities are available to a network node, how to
provide robust services in highly dynamic environments, how to
efficiently employ and operate heavily resource-constrained devices,

Introduction
A smart city (also smarter city) uses digital technologies to enhance
performance and wellbeing, to reduce costs and resource consumption, and to
engage more effectively and actively with its citizens. Key 'smart' sectors
include transport, energy, health care, water and waste. A smart city
should be able to respond faster to city and global challenges than one
with a simple 'transactional' relationship with its citizens.
IEEE SmartCity 2016 is aiming to be a premier international conference in
smart city. This symposium is to bring together computer scientists,
industrial engineers and researchers to discuss and exchange experimental
or theoretical results, novel designs, work-in-progress, experience, case
studies, and trend-setting ideas in the area of smart city include all
aspects of smart city with emphasis on algorithms, systems, models,
compilers, architectures, tools, design methodologies, test and
applications.

============
The Internet of Things (IoT) paradigm enables the development of new
services
and mass market applications in multiple domains such as mobile marketing,
social networks, smart cities, health care, and business processes.
These applications consume high-level context data computed by
processing and
filtering numerous raw context data collected from the physical environment.
Those applications are based upon cooperating services, which have to be
designed and dynamically composed. For instance, those services manage
heterogeneous context data, distribute both processing and flows of
data, manage the quality of context for appropriate decision-making,
enhance privacy of personal context data, and identify situations from
data coming both from the IoT and from knowledge bases.
Providing context-aware applications in the IoT necessitates the
interaction of
numerous heterogeneous services deployed in a multiscale complex distributed
architecture.
Topics of interest
==================
- Middleware to transport and transform data from tiny sensors to
context-aware applications
- Composition and interoperability of IoT services
- Distribution of IoT services among mobile devices, sensors and
computers in the cloud
- Complex Event processing for the IoT
- Services on the cloud for the IoT
- Middleware for context-awareness and location-awareness
- Models and middleware to provide IoT services to context-aware
