CALL FOR WORKSHOP PAPERS
MaDeLoRa 2020
1st Workshop on Massive LoRa Deployments: Challenges and Solutions
February 17, 2020, Lyon, France
http://www-sop.inria.fr/coati/events/madelora2020/
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IMPORTANT DATES
* Paper submission: November 15
* Acceptance notification: December 10
* Camera ready: December 20
* Workshop date: February 17
SCOPE
LoRa supports various PHY layer parameter settings which impact
reliability, coverage,
scalability, energy consumption, data rate etc. On the one hand, network
operators have control on
the radio parameters used by the sensors associated with them and are
concerned with network planning
and capacity. On the other hand, application designers and end users
need to know how to get their needed
level of reliability and they have to take into account the specifics of
the technology.
The aim of this workshop is to shed light on the main challenges and
solutions for Low
Power Wide Area Networks (LPWAN) based on LoRa or similar technologies.
We solicit contributions in
this area from researchers and practitioners in both the academia and
industry.
MaDeLoRa aims at bringing together various researchers and research
groups working with
problems related to multi-rate LPWAN technologies both from the applied
and the theoretical point
of view.
TOPICS OF INTEREST
The workshop welcomes submissions describing unpublished research,
position papers as well
as deployment experiences on various topics related to LoRa and
deployment of LoRaWAN.
Topics for the workshop include, but are not limited to:
Single and Multi-Gateway LoRaWAN deployment
Performance evaluation
PHY enhancements
Range and coverage
Error control and correction
MAC layer protocols for LoRa technology
Traffic models for massive network deployment
Capacity evaluation
Scalability
Reliability
Analyzing LoRa: a Use Case Perspective
IoT Applications in LoRaWAN
Simulation of LoRaWAN
Cross-layer design and optimization
Accepted and presented papers will be included in the EWSN 2020
proceedings and will appear
in the ACM Digital Library. All papers will be reviewed by Technical
Program Committee
members and selected papers will be organized for presentation at the
workshop.
SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
All submissions will be exclusively electronic with a maximum length of
six (6) printed
pages including title, authors, abstract, figures, diagrams, references
and attachments.
Pages must use 8.5" x 11" (letter) two-column format, using 10-point
type on 11-point leading,
with a maximum text block of 7" wide x 9" deep with an inter-column

23 March 2020
In conjunction with:
The 18th IEEE International Conference on Pervasive Computing and
Communications (PerCom 2020)
http://www.percom.org/
Internet of Things (IoT) has been attracting attention due to its
economic impact and high expectations for drastically changing our
societies. Trillion-scale IoT devices including sensors and actuators
are being installed in “things” such as machines, humans, vehicles,
buildings, and environments. At the same time, we are facing research
challenges on how to effectively, timely and integratedly handle these
over trillion information flows gushed from massive devices and/or
heterogeneous pervasive systems.
The 2020 International Workshop on Pervasive Information Flow (PerFlow
2020) aims to present and discuss research challenges,
design/implementations of new architectures, and experiences on
timely/real-time utilization of massive information flows (or data
streams) as well as interoperability, integration and coordination among
different pervasive systems possibly with different paradigms and from
different epochs.
We solicit technical papers describing original, previously unpublished
research, not currently under review by another conference or journal.
Submissions should clearly identify how they relate to issues on
information flow of things. Contributions describing an overall working
system and reporting real world deployment experiences are particularly
of interest. Topics of this workshop include, but are not limited to:
IoT Device Collaboration and Orchestration
Mobile Data Offloading
Data Analysis on IoT Devices
Data Collection via Crowdsensing etc.
Machine Learning for Data Stream
Edge and Fog Computing
Remote Sensing and Monitoring
Security and Privacy Issues in Pervasive Systems
Network Architecture/Protocols/Middleware for Pervasive Systems
Security and Privacy Issues in Pervasive Systems
Integration of Services/Protocols/Devices for Pervasive Systems
Interoperability and Interdependence of Heterogeneous Pervasive Systems
Quality of Service and Energy-Efficiency of Pervasive Systems

overlap with an earlier published paper will be considered only if (1)
the previous paper was published (not just accepted) at a workshop at
least 6 months before our submission date and (2) it adds significant
new contributions over the previous paper. Authors uncertain whether
their submission meets these guidelines should contact the program
chairs. Papers accompanied by nondisclosure agreement forms will not be
considered. Accepted submissions will be treated as confidential prior
to publication; rejected submissions will be permanently treated as
confidential.
MobiSys will use a double-blind review policy during the initial paper
review. Authors are instructed to not include their names, affiliations
and contact information on the manuscript they submit for review.
Authors should also anonymize the content of their paper to hide their
identity. Reviewers will not know the identity of the authors during the
initial phase of the review process, however, anonymity will expire
after the majority of the reviews have been submitted and preliminary
outcomes decided. The identities of the authors will be revealed to the
reviewers toward the end of the review process. Submissions which are
not properly anonymized will be rejected without being reviewed.
Submissions must be in PDF. We will not accept papers in any other
format. Submissions must use a 10pt font (or larger) and be correctly
formatted for printing on Letter-sized (8.5" by 11") paper. Paper text
blocks must follow ACM guidelines: double-column, with each column 9.25"
by 3.33", 0.33" space between columns and single-spaced. Submissions
MUST be *no more than twelve (12) pages + unlimited number of pages for
bibliography references*. The 12-page limit includes everything (e.g.,
abstract, text, appendix, etc.) except for the bibliography references.
Submissions can use this LaTex template
<http://conferences.sigcomm.org/sigcomm/2013/misc/sig-alternate-10pt.cls>
that is known to comply with the formatting requirements. Authors remain
responsible for checking that their resulting PDF meets our formatting
and anonymity specifications. Submissions not following these guidelines
will be rejected without review.
Submissions will be judged on originality, significance, interest,
clarity, relevance, and technical correctness. Papers may be
conditionally accepted and shepherded by a member of the program
committee, with final acceptance determined by consent of the shepherd.
As part of the submission process, authors of papers that describe
experiments on human subjects, or that analyze nonpublic data derived
from human subjects (even anonymized data), will be asked to certify
that their work was vetted by an ethics review (e.g., IRB approval). We
expect authors to follow the rules of their host institutions around
data collection and experiments with human subjects.
At least one author of an accepted paper is expected to register for the
conference (at non-student rate) and present the paper in person.
*Selected outstanding papers may be fast-tracked as a special section of
IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing.*

*** CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS ***
KuVS-Fachgespräch Fog Computing
26-27 March 2020, Essen
https://sites.google.com/view/fachgespraechfog/
The "Fachgespräch" workshop series of the Communication and Distributed
Systems (KuVS) special interest group of the German Society for Computer
Science (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Informatik, GI) and the Information
Technology Society of VDE (Informationstechnische Gesellschaft, ITG)
offers scientists the possibility to exchange ideas in focus research
areas, and to strengthen cooperation in these areas.
The KuVS-Fachgespräch Fog Computing offers a platform to present
fundamental as well as application-oriented research results in the
field. Fog Computing is nowadays widely accepted as a useful alternative
to local solutions and (Cloud-based) centralized approaches to data
processing. While Fog Computing provides a wide range of possible
application areas, many important fundamental research questions have
not been covered in depth yet. Therefore, it is the goal of the
KuVS-Fachgespräch Fog Computing to identify research issues arising by
the volatility of IoT-based smart systems, and the potentially very
quickly changing system landscapes, and to identify how concrete
research contributions in the field of Fog Computing can help to
overcome these issues.
To achieve this, researchers from different subfields of computer
science and related areas are invited to present their thoughts and
ideas in the field of Fog Computing, including, but not limited to

Betreff: [TCCC-ANNOUNCE] Call for Papers: 2020 WCNC 3rd Workshop on Intelligent Computing and Caching at the Network Edge
Apologies for cross-posting this invite:
Dear colleagues:
Call for Papers: 2020 WCNC 3rd Workshop on Intelligent Computing and Caching at the Network Edge, 6-9 April 2020, Seoul, South Korea, http://users.jyu.fi/~zhchang/edge2020
With the explosive growth of smart devices and the advent of many new applications, mobile traffic volume has been growing exponentially. The myriad technological advances proposed for the 5G networks still mostly focus on capacity increase, which is constrained by the limited spectrum resources as well as the diminishing profits for operators and, therefore, will always lag behind the growth rate of mobile traffic. Therefore, novel distributed architectures, which bring network functions (such as computing and caching) and contents to the edge, emerges, i.e., mobile edge computing and caching, to confront the aforementioned challenges in the network development and many emerging applications, such as AR/VR, IoT, eHealth, autonomous driving , gaming etc. However, on the way towards efficient and intelligent network edge computing and caching, there are many open problems ahead. From the computing part, how to flexibly utilize the distributed computing resources at the network edge, such as mobile computing or fog computing is of significance. Moreover, what to be offloaded to the edge node and when to offload also call for research attentions. From the caching part, what, when, where and how to cache the contents to reduce the demand for radio resources are vital. Last but not the most, how to efficiently integrate computing and caching at the edge node and utilize the synergy of computing and caching also requires a breakthrough. This workshop aims to consolidate the timely and solid works of the current state-of-the art in terms of fundamental research ideas and network engineering geared towards exploiting intelligent caching and computing at the network edge. The topics of interests related to edge caching and computing include (but are not limited to):
System modelling: Computation modelling, caching modelling, energy consumption modelling etc.;
Enabling technologies: e.g., SDN, NFV, CRAN, D2D, cloud/fog computing and networking, etc.;
Application areas: vehicular networking, IoT, smart grid etc;
Novel network architecture: convergence of computing, communications and caching, content/information-centric network, cognitive computing and networking, big data analytic;
Context-aware schemes: incentive mechanism for computing and caching, pricing, game theoretic approach, network economic etc, caching placement and delivery;
Mobility management for mobile edge computing and proactive caching;
Energy efficiency aspects: energy harvesting, energy storage, energy transfer, etc;
Security and privacy issue;
Prototyping, test-beds and field trials.
