*ACM e-Energy'20, Melbourne, Australia*
*June 22th-26th, 2020*
https://energy.acm.org/conferences/eenergy/2020/index.php
ACM e-Energy is the premier forum for research at the intersection of
computing and communication technologies with energy systems. It has
established a strong track record for high-quality research in the
application of computing and networked systems to make legacy systems
more energy-efficient and in the design, analysis, and development of
innovative energy systems. The Eleventh ACM International Conference on
Future Energy Systems (ACM e-Energy) and its co-located tutorials and
workshops, will be held in Melbourne, Australia from 22nd to 26th of
June 2020. By bringing together researchers in a single-track conference
designed to offer significant opportunities for personal interaction, it
is a major forum for shaping the future of this area.
We seek high-quality papers at the intersection of computing and
communication technologies with energy systems. We welcome submissions
describing conceptual advances, as well as advances in system design,
implementation and experimentation. ACM e-Energy is committed to a fair,
timely, and thorough review process with sound and detailed feedback.

Paper registration deadline --> 25 October 2019, 22:59 EDT
Paper submission deadline --> 1st November 2019, 22:59 EDT
Author notification --> 20th December 2019
***Call for Papers***
The Passive and Active Measurement (PAM) conference brings together
researchers and operators to discuss novel and emerging work in the area
of network measurement and analysis.
PAM is inclusive of all areas of network measurement, but focuses on
systems-based research and real-world data. Indeed, measurement
technology is needed at all layers of the network stack, ranging from
power profiling of hardware components to virtualization in data centers
to application profiling and even user experience. Work with operational
impact or relevance to the broader network research community is
especially welcome, as is early and promising measurement technique.
Original contributions that advance the state-of-the-art in the
following areas are invited:
+ Applications, e.g., web, streaming, games
+ Data centers and cloud computing
+ Energy
+ IoT, e.g., SCADA, ICS, and embedded systems
+ Measurement tools and software
+ Network security and privacy
+ Overlays, e.g., P2P, CDNs
+ Physical Layer
+ Routing
+ Social networks
+ Topology
+ Transport/congestion control
+ User behavior and experience, QoE
+ Virtualization, e.g., SDN, NFV
+ Visualization
+ Wireless and mobile
Although PAM traditionally attracts early stage contributions, works
that are a reappraisal or independent validation of previous results, or
which enhance the reproducibility of network measurement research, for
instance by publishing new datasets on an existing topic, are explicitly
included in PAM's scope.
***Important Dates***
+ Paper Registration: 25th October 2019, 22:59 EDT
+ Paper Submission: 1st November 2019, 22:59 EDT
+ Notification: 20th December 2018
+ Camera-ready Due: 31st January 2019
***Submission Guidelines***
Authors should only submit original work that has not been published
before and is not under submission to any other venue. All submissions
must satisfy the following requirements:
+ Follow Springer LNCS format (see
https://www.springer.com/us/computer-science/lncs/conference-proceedings-gu…)
+ Up to 12 pages for technical content (+ up to 5 pages for appendices
and references)
* Note that reviewers are not required to read appendices.
Everything needed to evaluate the paper should appear in the first 12 pages.
+ NOTE: Anonymization; as started in PAM 2019, reviewing will be
double-blind:
* Do not include names or affiliations of authors in the submission.
* Refer to your prior work in the third person.
* Make a best effort to anonymize system names that would give you away.
* If you have any concerns about how to anonymize your paper while
maintaining its integrity, contact the PC chairs.
+ Submit via HotCRP: http://hotcrp.eecs.qmul.ac.uk/pam2020/
***Ethical Considerations***
Following the standard set by the Internet Measurement Conference (from
which we base this section), papers describing experiments with users or
sensitive user data (e.g., network traffic, passwords, social network
information) must follow basic precepts of ethical research and
subscribe to community norms. These include: respect for privacy, secure
storage of sensitive data, voluntary and informed consent if users are
placed at risk, avoiding deceptive practices when not essential,
beneficence (maximizing the benefits to an individual or to society
while minimizing harm to the individual), and risk mitigation. When
appropriate, authors are encouraged to include a subsection describing
these issues. Authors may want to consult the Menlo Report
(http://www.caida.org/publications/papers/2012/menlo_report_actual_formatted/)
for further information on ethical principles and the Allman/Paxson IMC
07 paper (https://conferences.sigcomm.org/imc/2007/papers/imc80.pdf) for
guidance on ethical data sharing.
Note that submitting research for approval by each author's
institutional ethics review body is necessary, but not sufficient - in
cases where the PC has concerns about the ethics of the work in a
submission, the PC will consider the ethical soundness and justification
of any paper, just as it does its technical soundness. Authors unsure
about ethical issues are welcome to contact the program committee co-chairs.
***Awards***
There will be two awards for papers of exceptional merit. The Best Paper
award will recognize the paper that is deemed by the committee to have
the highest merit of all the submissions. The Best Dataset Award will be
given to the best paper that makes datasets and corresponding code
available to the public by the time the camera-ready is submitted. These
artifacts must be sufficiently documented such that any researcher can
use them to repeat the results described in the paper, and they must be
placed in a sufficiently long-lived archival repository (e.g., Github,
Bitbucket, or CRAWDAD).
***Poster Session***
As in previous years, PAM will include a poster session featuring
peer-reviewed submissions.
Stay tuned for further details and the separate call for posters.

TOPIC SUMMARY:
Developing smart cities to better support growing urban population is a
global and complex challenge and involves interdisciplinary fields.
Instead of traditional Internet of Contents in human-to-human and
human-to-machine communications, the Internet of Things with
communications among massive numbers of sensors will dominate the
network traffic. Every day, all these smart things are generating
massive data calculated in ZettaBytes. As our cities become smarter, we
face brand new opportunities and challenges. Due to inherent
characteristics of geodistribution in big data generated by networked
sensors deployed for IoT applications, the “smartness” of infrastructure
in future smart cities requires intelligent data sensing, fusion and
mining for monitoring and actuation to ensure infrastructure reliability
and public safety. To make current networks and services more efficient
with the use of cutting-edge technologies, this issue emphasizes on
Internet of Things (IoT) and Data Processing for smart cities.
The topics of interest for this special issue include, but are not
limited to:
IoT data management in smart cities
Data analytics and machine learning for smart cities
Smart transport and mobility in smart cities
Network science for smart cites
Fog/edge computing with IoT for smart cities
Security and data privacy for smart cities
Smart communications in IoT for smart cities such as M2M, D2D, and 5G
Novel algorithms, models, frameworks, architectures, platforms in
data-driven IoT for
smart cities

Special Issue on Industrial Internet of Things
Internet Technology Letters
Call for Papers
More than one decade ago emerged the Internet of Things (IoT), setting
the basis for innovative applications for our everyday life. We have now
a large variety of both wired (e.g. IEEE802.1TSN, IEEE802.1Qbu,
IEEE802.1Qbv, Detnet) and wireless (e.g. IEEE802.15.4, 6TiSCH,
WirelessHART, Z-Wave, WiSUN, WirelessMBUS, Bluetooth, IEEE 802.11 RTA,
LoRa, ETSI LTN, mmWave) technologies to connect more and more smart and
uniquely identifiable objects.
After providing best-effort connectivity, the Industrial Internet of
Things (IIoT) requires a network infrastructure which supports real-time
communications. Most critical applications require high-reliability, and
an upper-bounded end-to-end latency has to be respected.
The Industrial Internet of Things is expected to support many critical
applications. Industry 4.0 will rely on wireless and wired
infrastructure to interconnect all the actuators, sensors and
controllers, even for the control loops. To a greater extent, IIoT is
particularly relevant also for e.g. robot control loops, reliable
industrial monitoring, critical operation/actuation, etc.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
Resilient Systems, Dependable networking, Automated Diagnostics and
Predictions;
Quality of Service, Quality of Experience, Service Level Agreements;
Implementation details and benchmarking of Industrial IoT protocols;
Efficient communication protocols for industrial IoT;
5G: architecture, medium access, virtualization;
Performance Bounds, Soft/Hard Real-time, Formal Methods;
Security: privacy, policy management, IDS;
OS and Middleware, industrial cloud;
Real-world deployments, Lessons Learnt;
Standards-based solutions, Interoperability and Integration;
Seamless wired and wireless real-time infrastructure;
Handling mobility in industrial networks;
Interconnection of legacy and novel network technologies;
Applications: reliable monitoring, low latency control, automation,
robotics, etc.

Lowering energy consumption is one of the most pursued goals of next generation wireless communication
to ensure long-term applications. In recent years, wake-up radio has emerged, enabling pure asynchronous
wireless communication that eliminates energy waste due to idle listening. These devices allow continuous
channel monitoring while consuming orders of magnitude less power than traditional transceivers. On the
one hand, many efforts are made to design wake-up radio circuit with low power consumption and low
sensitivity. On the other hand, this technology changes network paradigm as dedicated access and network
protocols should be designed.
The goal of this workshop is to bring together researchers both from academia and industry to exchange and
share their experiences and research results related to wake-up radio emerging technology.
Specific topics of interest include but are not limited to:
- Wake-Up radio circuit and architecture design
- Coding, modulation and signal processing for Wake-Up radio
- Heterogeneous communication (or Multi-transceiver) and protocols
- MAC protocol leveraging Wake-up radio
- Cross-layer design for Wake-Up radio
- Communication and networking for wireless systems using Wake-Up radio
- Testbeds and experimentations using wake-up radio
- Use-case and applications leveraging Wake-up radio
- Wake-up radio in standardization (IEEE 802.11ba, 4G, 5G, …)
