Dear colleagues,
GOODTECHS Steering and Organizing committees, due to the current COVID-19
situation, have decided to make our 2020 Edition fully virtual to eliminate
uncertainty and to ensure the health, safety, and well- being of our
research community and society in general.
GOODTECHS has a new firm paper submission deadline: June 1st, 2020.
The dates of the virtual conference remain the same: September 14-16, 2020.
All accepted papers will be published in the ACM International Conference
Proceeding Series — ICPS and made available through the ACM Digital
Library. A mechanism for virtual presentation and participation will be
provided. More details will be announced in a timely manner, so please stay
tuned to the official website for more updates.
Best regards,
The Organizing Committee

==== SCOPE ====
By social good we refer to a “good” or a service that benefits the largest
number of people in the largest possible way. Some classic examples of
social goods are, of course, healthcare, safety, environment, democracy,
and human rights, but we can add to this classic list even communication,
art, entertainment and much more.
In this context, the popularity of portable computing devices, like
smartphones, tablets, or smart watches combined with the emergence of many
other small smart objects with computational, sensing and communication
capabilities coupled with the popularity of social networks and new
human-technology interaction paradigms is creating unprecedented
opportunities for each of us to do something useful, ranging from a single
person to the whole world. Furthermore, Internet of Things, Smart-cities,
distributed sensing and Fog computing are representative examples of modern
ICT paradigms that aim to describe a dynamic and globally cooperative
infrastructure built upon objects’ intelligence and self-configuring
capabilities. These connected objects are finding their way into our
pockets, vehicles, urban areas and infrastructure, thus becoming the very
texture of our society and providing us the possibility, but also the
responsibility, to shape it.
In GOODTECHS (http://www.goodtechs.eu) we are hence interested in
experiences with the design, implementation, deployment, operation and
evaluation of smart objects and technologies for social good. Clearly, we
are not considering only the so called first world as the scenario for this
evolution; we also refer to those areas where ICT is currently less
widespread, hoping that it may represent a societal development opportunity
rather than a source for further divide.
Inside GOODTECHS, the Work-in-Progress and Ph.D. Track provides an
opportunity to showcase interesting new work that is still at an early
stage. We encourage practitioners and researchers to submit to the
Work-in-Progress venue as it provides a unique opportunity for sharing
valuable ideas, eliciting feedback on early-stage work, and fostering
discussions and collaborations among colleagues. Moreover, this track
provides a platform for Ph.D. students to present and receive feedback on

** COVID-19 Update
------------------------------------------------------------
The organizers of IEEE MASS 2020 are fully aware of the potential impact
the COVID-19 pandemic might have on the conference. They are exploring
contingency plans, such as postponing the conference dates or running it
virtually, depending on the situation in the next few months. However,
the conference will be held one way or another, and the organizers are
committed to present a high-quality technical program in terms of
top-notch keynote speakers, competitively accepted peer-reviewed papers

Call For Papers
The 2nd International Workshop on
Wirelessly Powered Systems and Networks (WPSN 2020)*
==============================================================================
June 15-17, 2020 (ONLINE EVENT)
https://ebulutvcu.github.io/WPSN-2020/
*co-located with DCOSS 2020 (technically co-sponsored by IEEE)
==============================================================================
Due to the pandemic, DCOSS 2020 Workshops will be held in an online manner,
without physical attendance. Still, all accepted papers will be included in
the IEEE Proceedings as planned, in the same volume with the main event.
Reduced registration fees will apply.
******** Scope ********
Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) is the driving technology that will enable
the next generation of the distributed sensor systems, including
battery-less sensors, passive RFID, as well as IoT, 5G and M2M solutions.
Distributed WPT-enabled devices can be powered by harvesting energy from
the surroundings (for example electromagnetic energy), leading to a novel
communication systems networks paradigm, the Wirelessly Powered Systems and
Networks. The WPSN workshop aims at providing an interdisciplinary
reference forum focusing on the use of WPT as an enabler for improving the
efficiency of current distributed communication systems and networks.
Therefore, both tools and techniques to design (or improve) relevant
distributed operations using WPT, as well as results from the analysis of
data obtained through this enabler, are welcome in the workshop. WPSN aims
at engaging researchers working on WPT-enabled networking protocols,
algorithms and optimization WPT-enabled communication methods, tools and
techniques Far-/near-field WPT technologies for networks and communications.
******** Benefits ********
WPSN 2020 will be co-located with DCOSS 2020 which will be held as an
ONLINE EVENT due to pandemic this year. Benefits of presenting a paper in
WPSN 2020:
- accepted papers will be included in the proceedings of DCOSS 2020 and
submitted for publication to IEEE Xplore.
- full 8-pages IEEE double column format
- parallel presentations to DCOSS, for broader visibility
- Extended versions of accepted papers (with related content) will be
invited to be published in several SIs including SI on "Machine Learning
for Wireless Communications" on Sensors (MDPI) a Q1 journal.
******** Topics of Interest ********
The focus areas of the contributions can vary according the entire spectrum
of distributed WPT applications. Potential authors are invited to submit
original unpublished manuscripts that demonstrate recent advances in both
theoretical and experimental research. Topics of interest include, but are
not limited to, the following:
- Scheduling algorithms in wirelessly rechargeable sensor networks
- Integration of WPT in Aerial (UAV) Networks
- Optimization and approximation algorithms (mobility/energy/data
management)
- Joint operation scheduling (routing, data gathering, ambient harvesting)
- Precise algorithmic models and efficient distributed protocols
- Algorithms for WPT devices deployment
