*Call for Papers*
ACM HotMobile 2021, the Twenty-second International Workshop on Mobile
Computing Systems and Applications continues the series of highly
selective, interactive workshops focused on mobile applications, systems,
and environments, as well as their underlying state-of-the-art
technologies. HotMobile's small workshop format makes it ideal for
presenting and discussing new directions or controversial approaches.
We solicit submissions of papers that (1) focus primarily on systems and
applications and (2) propose new directions of research, advocate
non-traditional approaches to old (or new) ideas, or generate controversy
and discussion. We especially encourage papers that identify fundamental
open questions, advocate a new approach, offer a constructive critique of
the state-of-the-art, debunk existing assumptions, report unexpected early
results, report on promising but unproven ideas, or propose new evaluation
methods. Novel ideas need not be supported by full evaluations;
well-reasoned arguments or preliminary evaluations suffice. The program
committee will explicitly favor early work and papers likely to stimulate
reflection and discussion over a “6-pages conference paper.”
We take a broad view of Mobile Systems research. This includes:
· Novel applications, environments, and devices supporting mobility.
· Operating system and distributed system support for mobile
computing.
· Wearable computing, internet of things, edge computing, sensing,
and context-awareness.
· HCI issues related to mobile computing.
· Security and privacy of mobile computing.
· Management, configuration, and deployment of systems supporting
mobility.
· Wireless technology, as it pertains to mobile systems and
applications.
*·* *Mobile and wireless technologies on lessening or resolving
various issues related to COVID-19 and future similar epidemics/pandemics.*
Important dates :
· Deadline for submissions *October 30, 2020, 11:59pm EDT*
· Acceptance notification *December** 23, 2020*
Presenting at HotMobile is a good way to get early feedback on research
ideas at least one year away from a full-fledged conference submission to
ACM MobiSys or other high-quality conferences. A full-length paper on the
same topic submitted to a conference in less than a year is unlikely to
include sufficient new material and mature ideas to warrant publication.
As is customary, papers must not have been published elsewhere and may not
be simultaneously under submission at another venue. Papers accompanied by
nondisclosure agreement forms are not acceptable and will be returned to
the author(s) unread. As customary with the scientific peer review process,
submissions will be handled as confidential material during the review.
Submissions should contain 6 or fewer U.S. letter pages in PDF format,
including all references, figures and tables. The submissions should not be
anonymous. The submissions must meet the following formatting requirements:
· Font size no smaller than 10pt.
· Font size of the bibliography no smaller than 9pt.
· Double column format with each column having dimensions 9.25
inches x 3.33 inches, a space of 0.33 inches between the two columns, and
with no more than 55 lines of text per column.
· Fit properly on US letter-sized paper (8.5 inches x 11 inches).
We recommend the use of the "sigconf" ACM proceedings template, available
at: http://www.acm.org/, with the font size of the main body amended to
10pt. An example Tex document can be found here. For more submission
guidelines, please visit the conference website. Please note that it is the
responsibility of the authors to ensure that the submissions are meeting
all formatting requirements.
The papers accepted to HotMobile 2021 will be publicly available from the
workshop's website for a limited time window, as per ACM's Digital
Library's Policy.

Call For Papers
Elsevier Pervasive and Mobile Computing (PMC) Journal:
Special Issue on "Pervasive Mobile Energy Sharing"
https://www.journals.elsevier.com/pervasive-and-mobile-computing/call-for-p…
======================================================================
Energy is a scarce resource in any pervasive mobile and wireless networks
that consist of devices/vehicles mainly powered by their batteries.
Providing energy ubiquitously to these devices for making them functional
for a long time is a challenging task. With recent advances in energy
sharing technologies through both wired and wireless mediums (wireless
power transfer – WPT), it is possible to extend the lifetime of such
networks by utilizing energy from other energy sources (e.g., chargers,
other mobile agents) within the network. Such pervasive energy sharing
models become particularly important for emerging use cases on circular
economy paradigms, such as smart climate-neutral cities or clean connected
mobility, where valuable resources including energy need to be administered
in optimal manners. Energy sharing can be considered for various types of
pervasive mobile agents ranging from low-power devices such as sensors and
Internet of Things (IoT) devices to moderate and high-power ones such as
smartphones, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) and electric vehicles (EVs).
However, depending on the networking scenario as well as the form of energy
sharing, different challenges need to be addressed under different
optimization goals. This special issue invites technical papers that will
address these challenges in pervasive mobile energy sharing in various
network domains.
The special issue will span the topics including but are not limited to:
- Charger scheduling and placement in wirelessly rechargeable sensor
networks
- Network-wide distributed energy management through energy sharing
- Large-scale energy sharing protocols and scheduling algorithms
- Crowd charging solutions for pervasive devices and vehicles
- Peer-to-peer (P2P) energy sharing in pervasive mobile networks
- Opportunistic energy sharing in Delay Tolerant Networks (DTN)
- Cooperative energy management and storage in pervasive mobile networks
- Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) mobile energy sharing and trading
- Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) mobile energy sharing (for Electric Vehicles)
- Ubiquitous dynamic wireless charging of EVs
- Pervasive energy sharing and management in Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV)
networks
- UAV-assisted wirelessly powered networks and systems
- Near and far-field wireless power transfer for Internet-of-Things (IoT)
Networks
- Energy harvesting and sharing for pervasive mobile devices
- New models for distributed pervasive batteryless sensing and computation
- Energy sharing solutions for green cellular networks
- Hybrid mobile energy sharing networks
- Privacy and security issues in pervasive mobile energy sharing
- Software/hardware solutions for energy sharing among peers
- Energy trading and economy models among peers
- Incentive models for energy sharing and smart energy pricing
- SWIPT solutions for pervasive energy sharing
- Pervasive energy sharing in wearable computing
- Pervasive energy sharing in smart micro-grids
Submission Guidelines:
-------------------------------
Manuscripts must not have been previously published nor currently under
review by other journals or conferences. Papers previously published in
conference proceedings are eligible for submission if the submitted
manuscript is a substantial revision and extension of the conference
version. In this case, authors should indicate the previous publication(s)
in the cover letter and explain the enhancements made in the journal
version. The published conference article(s) are also required to be
submitted together with the journal version. The submission website for
this journal is located at https://www.evise.com/profile/#/PMC/login.
Please select “VSI:Energy-Sharing" when you reach the "Article Type" step
in the submission process. To ensure that all manuscripts are correctly
identified, for consideration by the special issue, the authors should
indicate in the cover letter that the manuscript has been submitted for the
special issue on Pervasive Mobile Energy Sharing.

*Call For Papers – ACM MobiCom 2021*
*Important Dates*
*Summer*
*Winter*
*Abstract Registration *
August 14, 2020 23:59 EDT
March 19, 2021 23:59 EDT
*Paper Submission*
August 21, 2020 23:59 EDT
March 26, 2021 23:59 EDT
*Notification of Acceptance *

June 11, 2021
*Important Changes*
· *Double-blind.* This CFP has updated its double-blind review policy and
particularly added how to handle preprints (such as arXiv). Violated
submissions will be returned without reviews.
· *Conflict-of-interest (COI).* It is the authors’ responsibility to claim
the true COIs from the TPC members. Violated submissions will be returned
without reviews.
· *Resubmission.* We have added a new policy on previous submissions, which
may request the authors to additionally submit the summary of changes from
the previous version.
· *Anonymous shepherding.* Note that MobiCom performs an anonymous and
rigorous shepherding process for all conditionally accepted papers.
Shepherded papers will be accepted only after completing a successful
shepherding process, which usually takes 4-6 weeks.
The ACM MobiCom conference seeks papers describing significant research
contributions in the field of wireless networking and mobile computing.
MobiCom solicits papers that address important research challenges,
including but not limited to communication networks, energy, computing,
security, and user experience. Successful papers should propose novel ideas
to attack such problems through rigorous analysis, system design, and/or
real-world measurement and deployment of mobile networks, systems, and
applications.
We want MobiCom ’21 to be daring and emphasize novelty and creativity. The
more novel the concept, the harder it can be to fully develop or evaluate
all aspects, and the review process will take this into account. We
encourage authors to discuss not only the significance but also the
limitations of their ideas. We strongly encourage authors to describe how
they will provide access to well-documented datasets, modeling and/or
simulation tools, and codebases to support the reproducibility of their
methods. MobiCom continues the two-deadline model and the reviewing process
with a one-shot revision to improve the quality and timeliness of
publications.
*Topics*
We invite submissions on a wide range of mobile computing and wireless
networking research, including but not limited to:
· Applications of machine learning to mobile/wireless research
· Backscatter communication and wireless power
· Edge computing
· Embedded and energy-harvesting systems
· Experimental platforms and infrastructures for wireless/mobile
research
· Implanted and wearable computing
· Intersection between mobile/wireless research, cloud computing,
and software-defined networking
· Long-range/Low-power wide-area wireless networking
· Low-latency networking
· Machine-to-machine communications
· Millimeter wave and terahertz communications
· Mobile data science & analysis
· Mobile health
· Mobile networks (5G and beyond)
· Mobile web, video, virtual reality, and other applications
· Novel applications of wireless signals
· Robotic and drone-based networking
· Security and privacy issues/solutions for mobile/wireless systems
· Sensing with radio, light, sound, and acoustics
· Ubiquitous computing and mobile human computer interaction
· Visible light communications
· Wireless localization and tracking
In addition to *full* research papers as described above, MobiCom also
invites submission in the following three categories:
Challenge Papers
The conference invites submissions of short papers (limited to eight pages
excluding references) that present revolutionary new ideas or that
challenge existing assumptions prevalent among the wireless research
community. These "challenge papers" should provide stimulating ideas or
visions that may open up exciting avenues and/or influence the direction of
future research. Descriptions of new products or evolution of existing work
are not appropriate topics for papers in this category. While an exhaustive
evaluation of the proposed ideas is not necessary, insight and in-depth
understanding of the issues is expected. Challenge papers will be reviewed
by the program committee and if selected, become part of the conference
technical program and be published in the conference proceedings. Challenge
papers should be submitted using the same submission procedure adopted for
the full papers. The title of these papers must bear a "Challenge:" prefix.
Experience Papers
The conference invites submission of short papers (limited to eight pages
excluding references) that present extensive experiences with
implementation, deployment, and operations of mobile systems and wireless
networks. Desirable papers are expected to contain real data as well as
descriptions of the practical lessons learned. The experience papers will
be evaluated by the program committee, primarily for (i) richness of their
data or experiences, (ii) inferences drawn or lessons learned, (iii)
discovery of new problems, and (iv) their impact/potential impact on
current and future mobile systems and wireless networks, as well as on
society. Note that a paper that builds a system and presents a limited
experimental evaluation is NOT suitable as an experience paper. Selected
experience papers will become a part of the conference technical program
and will be published in the conference proceedings. Experience papers
should be submitted according to the same submission procedure as full
papers, and their title must bear an "Experience:" prefix.
Verification Papers
The conference invites submission of short papers (limited to eight pages
excluding references) that seek to verify and/or characterize recent
breakthrough results in mobile computing using rigorous experimental
methodologies with the goal of extensively and thoroughly characterizing
the operating parameters under which these results can be reproduced.
Selected verification papers will become a part of the conference technical
program and will be published in the conference proceedings. Verification
papers should be submitted according to the same submission procedure as
full papers, and their title must bear a "Verification:" as a prefix.
Two Deadlines and One-shot Revision
MobiCom ’21 offers authors the options of two deadlines and adds a one-shot
revision process to enhance the timeliness and quality of the scientific
results from the research community. Each paper will go through the same
rigorous reviewing process as in previous MobiCom conferences. The review
decisions will be one of the following:
· *Accept*: Accepted papers will be presented at the MobiCom conference and
appear as part of the proceedings and the MobiCom website. Note all the
papers in this category will initially be *conditionally accepted*. The
papers that go through a successful *anonymous* shepherding process will
eventually be accepted.
· *Reject*: Rejected papers cannot be resubmitted until 11 months have
passed since the last MobiCom deadline they were submitted to. We strongly
encourage the authors to address the feedback they got before re-submitting
the paper to MobiCom.
· *One-Shot-Revision*: Papers, where a revision is required, will be given
specific action points and can be resubmitted for the *next* deadline. For
such papers, the reviewers will articulate a maximum of three major
changes/clarifications that they would like to see. After the resubmission,
the paper will be evaluated based on whether the authors have properly
addressed the reviewers’ requests. Unlike in the shepherding process, the
requested action points may include running additional experiments that
obtain specific results and could take more than 4-6 weeks. During this
revision period, the paper is still considered under review to MobiCom and
therefore cannot be submitted to other conferences unless the authors first
withdraw it from consideration.
Additional details on the paper submission process can be found at
https://www.sigmobile.org/mobicom/2021/cfp.html. Please refer to the Call
for Papers page on the ACM MobiCom 2021 website for important information
regarding the paper submission and review process.

Special Issue on “Intelligent Surfaces for Smart Wireless Communications”
https://www.comsoc.org/publications/journals/ieee-tccn/cfp/intelligent-surf…
While 5G is still at an initial commercialization stage, to maintain the
sustainability and competitiveness of wireless communication systems, it
is time for both the industry and academia to think about what 6G will
be. In contrast to previous generations, 6G will be transformative and
will revolutionize the wireless evolution from “connected things” to
“connected intelligence.” Specifically, 6G is expected to evolve towards
an intelligent and software-based functionality paradigm, where wireless
networks are not only allowing people, mobile devices, and objects to
communicate with each other, but also capable of sensing, controlling,
and optimizing the environment to realize the vision of low powered,
high throughput and low latency communications. Achieving this
intelligent and software-based functionality paradigm, wireless
communication with ultra-low latency as well as spectral and energy
efficiency represent the most demanding challenges 6G networks are facing.
Following the recent breakthrough on the fabrication of programmable
metamaterials, reconfigurable intelligent meta-surfaces have the
potential to materialize the intelligent software-based control of the
environment in wireless communication systems when coated on the
otherwise passive surfaces of various objects. Being a newly proposed

Call for Papers:
Recent developments in Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs, a.k.a. drones),
sensor and communication technology, coupled with automation and
deployment flexibility of UAVs have revolutionized various industries,
including agriculture, mobile communications, entertainment and media.
The commercial applications of drones providing business solutions is
growing rapidly, with an estimated global market value of $127 bn
according to a study by PwC. Despite the advantages provided by UAVs in
various sectors, they face the challenge of limited operating duration
due to the reliance on their on-board battery. This creates
interruptions in their missions as battery replacement or recharging is
required frequently. Therefore, developments of innovative,
energy-efficient methods that will help UAVs to achieve more with their
limited-capacity battery or even extend the mission duration, especially
for the small-sized UAVs, are essential. Such innovations will enhance
the deployment feasibility of UAVs or drone-delivered commercial
services. The methods and mechanisms may focus on energy-efficient
functioning of UAVs, consider ways of topping up the battery capacity,
or even in-situ recharging.
This Special Issue aims to publish the latest contributions in the
development of methods and mechanisms for energy-efficient UAV Networks.
Researchers, developers, and industry practitioners working in this area
are invited to present their views on the current trends, challenges,
and state of the art solutions addressing various issues in
energy-efficient UAV Networks. Due to the complex and dynamic
environment that the UAVs operate in, the use of intelligent algorithms,
e.g., machine learning/deep learning techniques in optimizing proposed
solutions are of high relevance to the special issue. Review papers on
the topic are also welcome. Some relevant topics include, but not
limited to the following:
* Energy-aware UAV network architecture

About ICIN
Since 1989, the ICIN conferences have been bringing together leading
Internet and telecom experts from industry, academia and government
from across the globe. ICIN is a single track conference that is both
intimate and global, attracting 100+ delegates, from more than 20
countries. It focuses on leading edge investigations into Internet
technologies, from basic networking and cloud services to novel
architectures. ICIN uses a rigorous peer-review process and has become
an established industry forum to discuss emerging trends in
Information and Communications Technology (ICT). It offers an agora
for one-on-one discussions and cross-fertilization between
participants and leading network visionaries, with the goal of
promoting dialogue and ideation about the current and future trends in
networking research and development. ICIN conferences are well known
for their identification of research challenges and industry trends
and their discussion on the impact of cutting-edge technologies on
future intelligent and distributed networking, and related computing
services. ICIN has an enviable track record of identifying key
technologies and services – and analysing their impact on business
models – before they become widely recognized in the industry and
government communication sectors. The interdisciplinary approach and
the cross-fertilization of ideas are the main ingredients that made
ICIN a recognized event in the telecommunications, cloud networking
and Internet communities.
ICIN 2021
For 2021 ICIN is focussing on the melding of network and computing
services that is clearly demonstrated by the increasing softwarization
of the network services in the core and the access networks, the rise
of computing in the network and the growth of cognition in networking
for management and control, as well as for value added services at the
edge and in the data center. Several innovations are impacting the
ongoing transformations toward the network of the future and the
evolution of cloud services. More and more the network fabric itself
emcompasses functionality usually associated with computing as
increased intelligence and cognition are necessary to address emerging
requirements of distributed services, automation and network
reliability. At the same time, more and more, the cloud is extending
to the edge adding a number of heterogeneous networked subsystems to
the Internet with a variety of requirements that further highlight the
need for novel architectures, e.g., IoT systems, augmented and virtual
reality and service delivery platforms.
The result is the networking and computing systems becoming one,
melding, as a distributed cloud/edge continuum with cognition and
intelligence for emerging services. This “Computing and Networking as
a Service” is the paradigm that will be central to the deployment of
immersive services in many different sectors, such as e-health,
self-driving cars, industrial networks, agriculture and cloud
robotics. In this regard, there is a need for a variety of mechanisms
enabling the new generation of service offerings at different levels
(consumer, business, government, social, service provider ecosystem
platforms).
In this scenario and considering the many challenges that the
aforementioned paradigms and technologies will bring, the theme for
ICIN 2021 is:
“Services everywhere: melding networking and computing in an
intelligent cloud-edge continuum”
The conference will foster discussion about new ideas and novel
approaches for future service concepts, service delivery and their
enabling technologies and mechanisms in the emerging scenario of
immersive intelligence and service level awareness. With this vision,
the conference will look beyond the current state of the art and
promote the advances of Computing as a Service technologies for
different application service delivery platforms.
Interested authors are invited to submit papers presenting novel
technical research, research related to business impact or mechanisms
of new technologies, as well as broader position and visionary papers.
Contributions that discuss lessons learnt and best practices, describe
practical deployment and implementation experiences as well as
demonstrating innovative use-cases are also and especially encouraged.

CALL FOR PAPERS
IEEE Internet of Things Journal Special issue on “Information-Centric
Wireless Sensor Networking (ICWSN) for IoT”
Information-Centric Networking (ICN), is a paradigm shift from a
location-aware, address-based communication
architecture to a location-independent, name-based, and connectionless
communication architecture. ICN may appear as a
promising candidate to solve many issues of the current
Push/IP/Client-Server-based, connection-oriented regid network
architecture. Adopting the ICN architecture for resource-constrained
wireless sensor-based IoT networks may further
improve the data access mechanisms, reliability issues in case of
mobility events, and high latency in case of multihop
communication. However, integrating both technologies has not
extensively been studied, especially for resource-constraint
wireless sensor networks. The scope of this Special Issue is the
examination of the challenges presented by the synergy
between ICNs and wireless sensor-based IoT networks. Therefore, we
invite researchers and experts to contribute original
research articles as well as review articles about the research topics
related to ICWSN.
It is intended that this Special Issue of the IEEE IoT Journal will show
the state-of-the-art in ICWSNs. Original research
contributions, tutorials and review papers are sought in ICWSN-related
areas including (but not limited to):
• Architecture and protocol designs for ICWSN
• Cross-layer protocol designs for ICWSN
• Naming schemes for ICWSN
• Caching schemes for ICWSN
• Protocol Designs for cluster-based ICWSN
• Architecture and protocol designs of ICWSNs with various radios, such
as LoRa, Wi-Fi, BLE, NB-IoT, etc.
• Distributed Computing over ICWSN
• Resources Orchestration over ICWSN
• Producer mobility in ICWSN
• Reliability, QoS support, sustainability, and energy efficiency in ICWSN
• Security and privacy in ICWSN
• Multimedia support in ICWSN
• Forwarding and Routing for ICWSN
• Test-Bed implementation and measurements ICWSN
