CALL FOR PAPERS
The organizing committee is delighted to invite you to submit your work for
presentation at the 8th ACM conference on Information Centric Networking
(ICN 2021), to be held virtually 22-24 September 2021.
ACM ICN 2021 is a single-track conference focusing on significant research
contributions to ICN as broadly defined, and featuring paper presentations,
posters, and demonstrations.
ICN deals with all aspects of an information- or data-centric approach
toward supporting networked applications. Such an approach treats digital
objects (i.e., collections of bits) as first-class objects, and supports
identification, creation, retrieval, authentication, and access control for
such objects through a global service.
ACM ICN 2021 solicits research contributions across the full spectrum of
technologies and architectures related to ICN, including work that advances
core ICN concepts, architectures, technologies, and capabilities; extends
current ICN concepts to new networking environments and use cases;
realizes, demonstrates, and quantifies the benefits of ICN in traditional
and emerging application domains; and catalyzes, incentivizes, simplifies,
and supports ICN deployments in realistic, operational environments and
settings.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
• Vision papers identifying and scoping future research directions for ICN
(limited to short papers). Submissions will be distinguished by the prefix
“Vision:” in the title.
• Systematization of knowledge (SoK) papers that evaluate, systematize, and
contextualize existing knowledge. Suitable papers are those that provide an
important new viewpoint on an established, major ICN research area, support
or challenge long-held beliefs in such an area with compelling evidence, or
present a convincing, comprehensive new taxonomy of such an area. Survey
papers without such insights are not appropriate and may be rejected
without full review. Submissions will be distinguished by the prefix “SoK:”
in the title.
• Design and implementation of global and local information-centric
approaches, such as named-data, publish-subscribe, and
distribution-oriented systems, including domain-specific designs
• Namespace management approaches, case studies, and empirical evaluation
campaigns
• Security including identity bootstrapping, confidentiality and access
control, authentication, and non-repudiation, as well as infrastructure
resilience
• Privacy of consumers and producers of content objects
• Routing, forwarding, and caching for ICN

IEEE ICNP 2021 Call for Papers
ICNP, the IEEE International Conference on Network Protocols, is the
premier conference covering all aspects of network protocol research,
including design, analysis, specification, verification, …
[View More]implementation,
and performance. ICNP 2021 will be held in Dallas, Texas, from November
2-5, 2021.
Website: https://icnp21.cs.ucr.edu/
Important Dates
- Title/Abstract registration: May 17, 2021 (8:00 p.m. EDT)
- Full paper submission: May 24, 2021 (8:00 p.m. EDT)
- Notification of acceptance: August 3, 2021
- Camera ready version: August 24, 2021
Scope
The conference is soliciting paper submissions with significant research
contributions to the field of network protocol research. Both experimental
studies as well as formal investigations are equally welcome. Topics
traditionally of interest include, but are not limited to:
- All aspects of network protocol research including design, specification,
verification, implementation, measurement, testing, and analysis.
- Protocols for wireless networks, cellular networks, software-defined
networks, data center networks, social networks, sensor networks,
vehicularnetworks, and Internet of Things.
- Domain-specific solutions, including protocols for network security,
routing, user privacy, and network management.
- Network protocols meet AI/ML, e.g., application of AI/Machine Learning to
improve network protocols and operations; networking and protocols
forimproving the performance of AI/Machine Learning systems.
- Contributions to network architecture, e.g., algorithms and protocols for
network virtualization or future Internet architectures.
- Contributions to other areas of data communications to the extent that
they articulate a strong connection to network protocols, for example by
discussing potential implications on the design or performance of
certaintypes of network protocols.
Authors who are unsure whether or not their submissions might fit the scope
of the conference are welcome to contact the Program Committee co-Chairs.
Paper Formatting
Paper submissions should adhere to the IEEE Conference formatting
requirements using the templates available here, and should not exceed 10
pages excluding references. It is the authors' responsibility to produce
readable submissions that comply with the formatting constraints. Violating
theformatting requirements to squeeze in additional materials will result
in a submission being returned without being reviewed.
Submission and Anonymity Policy
Papers submitted to the conference will be reviewed through a double-blind
review process, where the identities of the authors are withheld from the
reviewers (and that of the reviewers from the authors). Achieving thisgoal
requires some care to, on the one hand, preserve the anonymity of your
submission, and on the other hand ensuring proper coverage of relatedpast
work, including your own. While this requirement may seem challenging, the
few basic steps listed below will go a long way towards achievingthe
desired outcome:
- Remove all authors' identifiers, e.g., names, emails, and
affiliations,from the title page.
- Remove acknowledgments of and identifiers of funding sources.
- Use anonymous names for your files, as source file names are often
embedded in the final output you generate, and therefore accessible as
comments.
- When referring to your own related work, refer to it in the third person
as you would with any other related work by another author.
Besides anonymizing your submission, double-blind reviewing also imposes
additional requirements on both authors and reviewers. Specifically, while
it is permissible for authors to give local talks on their work and release
their paper on a non-peer-reviewed location, e.g., an institutional
repository or even arXiv, care should be exercised to limit public exposure
as much as possible. This requirement includes refraining from advertising
the work on mailing lists and public forums, and in general limitingas much
as possible the odds that program committee members be exposed to the work
and the authors’ identity. Conversely, program committee members will be
advised to neither actively seek to “reverse engineer” the authors’
identity, nor to directly share with other program committee members any
such information they may have acquired. All questions regarding possible
breaches of the anonymity covenantthat underlies the double-blind review
process will be adjudicated by the Program Committee co-Chairs.
All papers will be provisionally accepted and the final acceptance of
anypaper will be subject to shepherding by a member of the program committee.
Submission and Plagiarism Policy
Papers must present original contributions and can neither be previously
published nor under review by another conference or journal. Papers
containing plagiarized materials will be subject to the IEEE plagiarism
policyand possible penalties and will be rejected without being reviewed.
Best Paper Award and Fast-Track Journal Publication
One of the accepted papers will be selected for the Best Paper award,
andwill be fast tracked to the IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking, with a
streamlined journal review process.
Presentation and Registration Requirements
IEEE ICNP requires that at least one of the authors of any accepted
papermust register for the conference at the full rate and be available to
present the paper at the conference. While we anticipate ICNP 2021 will be
held physically in-person in Dallas, TX, in the unlikely event that the
conference is held virtually or partially virtually due to health
considerations, we will accommodate requests by authors to present papers
remotely, without physical attendance, and subsequently to include the
paper in the conference proceedings and in IEEE Xplore. However, any paper
that isnot presented by an author of the paper, either in-person or
remotely, will be withdrawn from the proceedings and thus from IEEE Xplore.
At leastone author from each accepted paper will be expected to register at
the full rate whether presenting remotely or in person.

[View More]Big Data Intelligence for IoE*
Internet of Everything (IoE) are playing key roles to enable smart
manufacturing, smart healthcare, and so on. Tremendous amount of data are
accumulated continuously. Big data processing and analysis are playing
increasingly important roles to make the world simpler, better, and
smarter. In particular, intelligence extracted from data processing and
analysis provides unprecedented opportunities for new wave of emerging
applications. Meanwhile, it is well-known that big data processing and
analysis require substantial computing and storage resources, which can be
offered through cloud computing much easier than traditional IT. On the
other hand, there arise lots of requirements on handling onsite data
analysis for efficient response in e.g. unmanned vehicles, smart control of
manufacturing and transportation, which can be enabled by fog/edge
computing. As a result, we see huge potentials for cloud/fog/edge-based big
data intelligence. Though some progress has been made in this area, there
is still a need for more exploration of the cloud/fog/edge-based big data
intelligence. This special issue aims to cover various aspects related to
big data processing and analysis in conjunction with cloud/Fog/Edge
computing for IoE, including the following topics, but are not limited to:
· Cloud/Fog/Edge- based analysis models and algorithms for big data from
IoE
· Cloud/Fog/Edge-based big data mining platforms and tools for IoE
· Machine learning for Cloud/Fog/Edge-based big data analysis for IoE
· Intelligent big IoE data solutions based on Cloud/Fog/Edge- computing
· Cloud/Fog/Edge- based big social data mining and computing
· Urban big data computing assisted by Cloud/Fog/Edge computing
· Security and privacy of big data using Cloud/Fog/Edge computing in IoE
· Weaving ubiquitous IoT into Cloud/Fog/Edge for big data intelligence

and smartwatches. Mobile devices have different capabilities for the
improvement of the results of Social Good solutions. The accuracy and
statistical analysis of these systems are essential for their acceptance.
Human-Computer interaction and social networks help in the creation of
diverse solutions and opportunities for the different types of people. The
different environments can use some various technologies and architectures.
Low-cost sensors can be used for the monitoring of different kinds of
people, including electroencephalography, electrocardiography, and
electromyography.
Sensorial systems promote the creation of medical solutions that supports
the preliminary diagnosis of various diseases. Furthermore, the Internet of
Things, Smart-cities, distributed sensing and Fog computing are
representative examples of new information and communication technologies
(ICT) paradigms that aim to describe a dynamic and globally cooperative
infrastructure built upon objects’ intelligence and self-configuring
capabilities. These connected objects are finding their way into our
pockets, vehicles, urban areas and infrastructure.
The use of mobile devices is growing in different daily activities, and
their use started in young people. Still, older adults are now using this
type of devices. Technological tools are widely improving, and they include
different sensors, which can acquire different physical and physiological
data. The development of these systems is involved in the development of
ICT technologies for well-being. Besides, the e-Health and m-Health
solutions may not act only in the treatment and monitoring stages of
different diseases.
Moreover, it can act as preventive, promoting healthy lifestyles and active
coaching to avoid unhealthy habits. There are various solutions currently
under development related to this field. Moreover, these solutions can
improve our quality of life and be used to the design and development of
novel technologies for social help. It is a multidisciplinary and extensive
subject for public health well-being.
Moreover, Internet of Things applications provide a continuous stream of
data collected in real-time. The data collected can be combined with
machine learning methods to predict unexpected events in the context of a
smart city. These cyber-physical systems are intelligent objects that can
be the basis to develop enhanced technologies for social good.
In the GOODTECHS conference, we are hence interested in experiences with
the design, implementation, deployment, operation and evaluation of smart
objects and technologies for social good. We are not considering only the
so-called first world as the scenario for this evolution. We also refer to
those areas where ICT is currently less widespread, hoping that it may
represent a societal development opportunity rather than a source for
further divide.
The European Alliance endorses the event for innovation, a leading
community-based organization devoted to the advancement of change in the
field of ICT.

CALL FOR PAPERS
***************
Edge Computing is emerging due to the great availability of computational
resources, mobile devices, sensors and actuators that are pervasively
deployed and today amount to more than 7 billion interfaces with the
network. It enables the pushing of computation to the edge of the network,
away from data centers and close to people and data sources. Edge
Intelligence derives from the convergence of Edge Computing with the smart
exploitation of artificial intelligence methodologies and cognitive
technologies, involving sensing/actuation, learning and reasoning on
distributed data and Internet of Things devices.
A new generation of smart environments, empowered with Edge Intelligence
capabilities, can assist the effective management of a modern society, by
combining the development of advanced services able to satisfy user needs
and preferences dynamically, with undelayable aspects like better
exploitation of renewable energy sources, energy optimization, environment
sustainability, people’s safety, quality of life and comfort. Edge
Intelligence helps service provisioning, computation and communications to
become efficient, green and sustainable in different ways, among which: (i)
Edge Intelligence can contribute to optimize data center usage and reduce
the amount of data needing to traverse the network, leading to a reduction
of energy consumption and carbon emissions; (ii) applications enriched by
Edge Intelligence can satisfy user needs through a more sustainable use of
environmental resources; (iii) based on predictions performed by Edge
Intelligence algorithms, data and computation can be brought closer to the
sites where green energy is available.
Edge Intelligence offers an unprecedented opportunity to offer cutting edge
services to individuals and organizations and, at the same time, to
contrast the continuous growth in the exchange of data and use of
communication and network infrastructures. The energy consumption and the
greenhouse gas emissions related to ICT technologies are estimated to
amount, respectively, to 3% and 4% of the total, and these figures are
being further increased by the Covid 19 pandemic. This Special Issue aims
to be a valuable venue for novel and original research works in the field
of Edge Intelligence and its exploitation for the design and development of
sustainable and smart environments like smart cities and cognitive
buildings.
