CALL FOR PAPERS
Wi-DroIT 2021 – 3rd International Workshop on Wireless Sensors and Drones
in Internet of Things
July 14–16, 2021 – Virtual Event
co-located with DCOSS 2021
Website: https://widroit2021.github.io
Submission link: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=widroit2021
Due to the evolution of the health pandemic, the event will be held fully
on-line. This will not impact the publication of the DCOSS 2021 proceedings
and accepted papers will be included in the IEEE Xplore Proceedings. The
virtual program will include live sessions of invited speakers and author
presentations, possibly supplemented by online material such as the papers,
presentation slides and videos.
Aims and Scope
Recently, the rapid development of Unmanned Autonomous Vehicles (UAVs),
also known as drones, has highlighted a plethora of emergent applications
such as infrastructure inspection and surveillance, smart agriculture, seek
and rescue, parcel delivery, communications, and post-disaster recovery. In
all these applications, UAVs may coexist with ground Internet of Things
(IoT) devices. For example, UAVs autonomously perform remote sensing
relaying the collected data by the sensors. Moreover, single or multiple
UAVs can cooperatively collaborate providing services that require
efficient protocols where multiple objectives and constraints should be
accounted for.
For this workshop, we seek papers that combine the design of algorithms and
testbed implementations to develop the theoretical foundations for UAVs as
well as the synergies with IoT devices. The numerous emergent applications
raised by IoT may require an interdisciplinary approach, involving
techniques from algorithm foundations and different areas, such as computer
networks, artificial intelligence, concurrent, parallel and distributed
computing, security, digital signal, image and sound processing.

The Sixth International Conference on Fog and Mobile Edge Computing (FMEC
2021)
http://emergingtechnet.org/FMEC2021/index.php
Gandia, Spain. December 6-9, 2021
*FMEC 2021 CFP:*
Cloud computing provides a large range of services and virtually unlimited
available resources for users. New applications, such as virtual reality
and smart building control, have emerged due to the large number of
resources and services brought by cloud computing. However, the
delay-sensitive applications face the problem of large latency, especially
when several smart devices and objects are getting involved in human’s life
such as the case of smart cities or the Internet of Things. Therefore,
cloud computing is unable to meet the requirements of low latency, location
awareness, and mobility support. To solve this problem, researchers have
introduced a trusted and dependable solution through the Fog and the Mobile
Edge Computing (FMEC) to put the services and resources of the cloud closer
to users, which facilitates the leveraging of available services and
resources in the edge networks. By this, we are moving from the core (cloud
data centers) to the edge of the network closer to the users. FMEC
dependability is based on providing user centric service. The purpose of
Fog and the Mobile Edge Computing is to run the heavy real-time
applications at the network edge directly using the billions of connected
mobile devices.
Several features enable the Fog and the Mobile Edge Computing to be a
perfect paradigm to the aforementioned purpose, which are the dense
geographical deployment of servers, supporting mobility and the closeness
to users. As in every new technology, some challenges face the vision of
the Fog and the Mobile Edge Computing, which are the administrative
policies and security concerns (i.e. secure data storage, secure
computation, network security, data privacy, usage privacy, location
privacy, etc). FMEC 2021 conference aims to investigate the opportunities
and requirements for Mobile Edge Computing dominance. In addition, it seeks
for novel contributions that help mitigating Mobile Edge Computing
challenges. That is, the objective of FMEC 2021 is to provide a forum for
scientists, engineers, and researchers to discuss and exchange new ideas,
novel results and experience on all aspects of Fog and Mobile Edge
Computing (FMEC). FMEC 2021 is Technically Co-Sponsored by IEEE Spain

> Antwort an: Aaron Ding <Aaron.Ding(a)tudelft.nl>
>
> The 20th ACM Workshop on Hot Topics in Networks (HotNets 2021) will bring together researchers in computer networks and systems to engage in a lively debate on the theory and practice of computer networking. HotNets provides a venue for discussing innovative ideas and for debating future research agendas in networking.
>
> We invite researchers and practitioners to submit short position papers. We encourage papers that identify fundamental open questions, advocate a new approach, offer a constructive critique of the state of networking research, re-frame or debunk existing work, report unexpected early results from a deployment, report on promising but unproven ideas, or propose new evaluation methods. Novel ideas need not be supported by full evaluations; well-reasoned arguments or preliminary evaluations can support the possibility of the paper’s claims.
>
> We seek early-stage work, where the authors can benefit from community feedback. An ideal submission has the potential to open a line of inquiry for the community that results in multiple conference papers in related venues (SIGCOMM, NSDI, CoNEXT, SOSP, OSDI, MobiCom, MobiSys, etc.), rather than a single follow-on conference paper. The program committee will explicitly favor early work and papers likely to stimulate reflection and discussion over “conference papers in miniature”. Finished work that fits in a short paper is likely a better fit with the short-paper tracks at either CoNEXT or IMC, for example.
>
> HotNets takes a broad view of networking research. This includes new ideas relating to (but not limited to) mobile, wide-area, data-center, home, and enterprise networks using a variety of link technologies (wired, wireless, visual, and acoustic), as well as social networks and network architecture. It encompasses all aspects of networks, including (but not limited to) packet-processing hardware and software, virtualization, mobility, provisioning and resource management, performance, energy consumption, topology, robustness and security, measurement, diagnosis, verification, privacy, economics and evolution, interactions with applications, and usability of underlying networking technologies.
>
> Position papers will be selected based on originality, likelihood of stimulating insightful discussion at the workshop, and technical merit. Accepted papers will be posted online prior to the workshop and will be published in the ACM Digital Library to facilitate wide dissemination of the ideas discussed at the workshop.
>
> Policy on Concurrent Submissions
> Concurrent submissions to HotNets 2021 and any other peer-reviewed venue that cover the same work (differences in the degree of detail given the two venues’ length limits notwithstanding) are prohibited, and will result in the immediate rejection of the HotNets submission in question. “Concurrent” means any other peer-reviewed venue whose reviewing period (i.e., between submission and notification) overlaps with that of HotNets. The “same work” means, for example, a submission overlapping significantly in content with a conference submission. However, a position paper submitted to HotNets (e.g., that reflects broadly on the state of some aspect of the field, adopts a position as to how the field should move forward, or articulates a broad avenue of future work) will not be considered the “same work” as a conference-length paper on a specific system that addresses a point under the broad umbrella covered by the position paper. Authors with questions about the concurrent submission policy are encouraged to contact the PC chairs (Minlan and Laurent) prior to submitting.
>
> Ethical Concerns
> As part of the submission process, authors must attest that their work complies with all applicable ethical standards of their home institution(s), including, but not limited to privacy policies and policies on experiments involving humans. Note that submitting research for approval by one’s institution’s ethics review body is necessary, but not sufficient – in cases where the PC has concerns about the ethics of the work in a submission, the PC will have its own discussion of the ethics of that work. The PC takes a broad view of what constitutes an ethical concern, and authors agree to be available at any time during the review process to rapidly respond to queries from the PC chairs regarding ethical standards.
>
> Submission and Formatting
> Submitted papers must be no longer than 6 pages (10 point font, 12 point leading, 7 inch by 9.25 inch text block) including all content except references. There are no limits for reference pages. The archive (https://conferences.sigcomm.org/hotnets/2021/hotnets21-template.zip) contains a LaTeX class file that follows the prescribed submission format and an example of a paper formatted using that class.
>
> All submissions must be blind: they must not indicate the names or affiliations of the authors in the paper. Only electronic submissions in PDF will be accepted. Submissions must be written in English, render without error using standard tools (e.g., Acrobat Reader), and print on US Letter paper. Papers must contain novel ideas and must differ significantly in content from previously published papers.

*IoTSMS 2021 CFP:*
The Internet of Things (IoT) technology offers unprecedented opportunities
to interconnect human beings as well as Machine-to-Machine (M2M), whereby
sensors and networks allow all ‘things’ to communicate directly with each
other to share vital information allowing us to have an instrumented
universe where accurate data is readily available to inform optimal
decision making. The IoT is about to enable a range of new capabilities and
services far beyond today’s offerings. It will fundamentally change how
people go about their lives. The number of objects connected to the
Internet is set to reach 30.9 billion by 2025. Cisco estimates the number
will be close to 25 billion objects by 2025. Others believe the actual
number will be even higher with the assumption that any object with a
simple microcontroller and on-off switch will be connected to the Internet
in the near future. The scale of the IoT is set to have a major economic,
social and environmental impact; the intersection of which forms the future
sustainable growth. The IEEE Internet of Things: Systems, Management and
Security (IoTSMS 2021) aims at soliciting original ideas on the broad area
of IoT including challenges and opportunities, concepts and applications
and future trends. The IoTSMS aims to facilitate discussions among
academics and IoT practitioners and make positive contributions to the
field. Authors are invited to submit original, unpublished manuscripts.
Submitted papers should be in accordance with IEEE format, and will be
reviewed by at least two expert reviewers in terms of relevance,
originality, contribution, correctness, and presentation.
