Digital Twins (DTs) are a new approach to testing and assurance for mobile
networks by providing an emulated software replica of the mobile network
that enables continuous prototyping, testing, and optimization. Due to the
scale and complexity of mobile networks, as well as the high impact of
their downtime and failures, DT for Mobile Networks (DTMN) can add
significant value to the development and operational phases of mobile
networks. They can help mobile network providers predict and assess network
incidents, perform testing, provide network updates, etc. DTs can also
facilitate the implementation of more powerful features and services,
including the embedding of artificial intelligence (AI) in mobile networks.
DTs can be used to develop AI algorithms when real networks cannot provide
enough real data or when it is unsafe to apply AI algorithms to real
networks. In addition, with the ongoing developments of 5G and 6G, mobile
networks will be denser, will need to react quickly, and small changes in
the network can have a cascading effect in a short period of time.
Effective DT implementation can contribute to the success of mobile
networks in 6G or even beyond, giving mobile network operators the
opportunity to simulate different scenarios, test solutions, facilitate
network analysis and find optimal mobile network operations.
While DTs can bring significant benefits to mobile networks, there are
still issues and challenges to be addressed, including data collection and
storage, data modeling, network visualization, interface standardization,
as well as addressing security and forensics, energy efficiency planning,
and hardware. In this timely Special Issue, we aim to bring together
contributions that focus on DTs for addressing the above-mentioned
challenges. Topics covered include, but are not limited to:
* New paradigm for DTMNs
* Architecture and standard for DTMNs
* DTMN application areas, including manufacturing, healthcare, smart
cities, finance, and education
* Robots, drones, and autonomous vehicles in DTs for mobile networks
* AI, sensors, clouds, and edge computing enabled DTMN
* Intelligent DTs-based software-defined vehicular networks
* DTs for fault detection in Terrestrial Networks/ Non-Terrestrial
Networks
* DTMNs for cloud-based frameworks in e-health systems

IEEE Transactions on Network and Service Management
Special Issue on
“Robust and Reliable Networks of the Future”
Reliability of communication infrastructures is a top priority for network
operators. To ensure reliable network operation, new design and management
techniques must be constantly devised to respond to the rapid network and
service evolution. As a recent and relevant example, deployments of 5G
communication networks will soon enter their second phase, during which the
network infrastructure will require upgrades to support new Ultra-Reliable
services with availability of up to 6 nines. Similarly, disaster resiliency
in communication networks is now attracting the attention of media,
governments, and industry as never before (consider, e.g., the worldwide
network traffic deluge to support remote working during the current
COVID19-pandemic!). Luckily, several new technical directions can be
leveraged to provide new solutions for network reliability that includes
increased network reconfigurability enabled by Software Defined Networking
(SDN); integration/convergence of multiple technologies (optical, wireless,
satellite, datacenter networks); enhanced forms of data/service replication
that is supported by edge computing; network slicing used to carve
highly-reliable logical partitions of network, computing and storage
resources. These, and many other technological transformations can enable
next-generation high-reliability networks.
Given the strong interest in both industry and academia towards reliability
of telecom networks and cloud-computing infrastructures, we organize this
IEEE TNSM Special Issue as a second Special Issue as part of a Series on
Design and Management of Reliable Networks. in IEEE Transactions on Network
and Service Management, with the first issue published in September 2021.
The Special Issue aims at the timely publication of recent and innovative
research results on this important topic. This Special Issue is organized
in collaboration with the International Conference on the Design of
Reliable Communication Networks (DRCN), which was held in April this year.
DRCN is a well-established forum for scientists from both industry and
academy who have interest in reliability and availability of communication
networks. As such, this Special Issue will also invite top-scored DRCN
papers to share excellent results and new challenges in the field of
reliable communication networks and services.
We welcome submissions addressing important challenges (see the
non-exhaustive list of topics below) and presenting novel research or
experimentation results. Survey papers that offer a perspective on related
work and identify key challenges for future research will be considered as
well. We look forward to your submissions!

authors with the conference venue selection. In the meantime, we would like
to make explicit that double submission remains prohibited under ACM's
policy of Prior Publication and Simultaneous Submissions
<https://www.acm.org/publications/policies/simultaneous-submissions>. To
foster a closer joint community, following the practice in recent years, we
would invite quality submissions to switch between IoTDI and IPSN, in case
we find fit and the authors agree.

Vehicles (IoV)” from the drop-down menu of Topic/Series titles.
Recently, the Internet of Vehicles (IoV) has emerged, which promises to
improve the overall quality of the user's experience by offering more
sophisticated services that range from ensuring the user's safety to
increase the comfort. The IoV ecosystem is complex, heterogenous, and
constantly growing. A large number of entities contribute to the
construction of its architecture such as vehicles, humans, and roadside
units. Furthermore, numerous communication types coexist to assure the
connection and continuity of the IoV. In turn, this diversity results in
additional privacy, trust and reputation needs that appear more complicated
to consider while simultaneously increasing the attack surface of such an
ecosystem. Since, the IoV is extremely distributed, services must be aware
of and capable of incorporating privacy issues. Thus, this Special Issue
covers the present status of privacy, vehicular trust management, focusing
on weight quantification, peer recommendation, threshold quantification,
and misbehavior detection, among other things. In addition, an overall IoV
architecture, elements under the idea of privacy, trust, and threats linked
to the IoV, as well as open research challenges in the topic domain, are
provided.
The topics covered in the edited book will include, but not limited to:
• Privacy Issues in Internet of Vehicles
• Privacy Preservation Techniques in Internet of Vehicles
• Trust and Reputation Management in Internet of Vehicles
• Trust Architecture of Internet of Vehicles.

Betreff: [TCCC-ANNOUNCE] Announcements of new journal - Proceedings of the ACM on Networking - PACMNET
[Sorry for duplicates]
We are happy to introduce the new journal titled “Proceedings of the ACM on Networking” (PACMNET<https://dl.acm.org/journal/pacmnet>).
PACMNET is among the last journals joining the recently launched Proceedings of the ACM (PACM<https://www.acm.org/publications/pacm>) series. The goal of the PACM series is to showcase the highest quality research conducted in diverse areas of computer science as represented by the ACM Special Interest Groups (SIGs). ACM PACMNET operates in close collaboration with the Special Interest Group on Data Communications (SIGCOMM<https://www.sigcomm.org/>).
PACMNET will be published quarterly starting from March 2023. Each issue will contain papers selected by the Associate Editors.
The review process is rigorous and is conducted by the Editorial Board whereby each paper is either conditionally accepted (with a minor revision and shepherded), allowed “one-shot-major” revision (with a limited time window for revision and re-submission), or rejected (with re-submission to the journal allowed a year or later, from the time of submission).
TOPICS:
Proceedings of the ACM on Networking (PACMNET) is a journal for research relevant to multiple aspects of the area of computer networking.
We seek papers presenting significant and novel research results on emerging computer networks and their applications.
We especially encourage submissions that present new technologies, novel experimentation, creative use of networking technologies, and new insights made possible using analysis.
We invite submissions on a wide range of networking topics, including: protocols in different types of networks (public Internet, data center networks, home and enterprise networks, sensor networks, wireless networks, etc.), network measurements and modeling, evaluation of networks and networked systems using diverse techniques (verification and modeling, trace driven simulation, testbed, in-the-wild experiments, etc.), experience and lessons learned from deployments of networks and their applications, network management and control, including routing, traffic engineering, SDN, NFV, network programmability, etc., and applications of machine learning in computer networking.
In addition to papers on network technologies, we are also looking for papers on network properties such as policy and economics, security and privacy, reliability and availability, performance, energy efficiency, etc.
We particularly welcome experimental results and papers offering additional artifacts such as code, datasets, etc., in the light of reproducibility.
SUBMISSION DEADLINES:
New submissions will be considered two times a year, according to the following deadlines:
• End of November deadline
• Papers accepted with minor revisions will appear in the June issues
• Papers accepted after the one-shot-major-revision will appear in the September issues
• Mid June deadline
• Papers accepted with minor revisions will appear in the December issues
• Papers accepted after the one-shot-major-revision will appear in the March issues
Authors of all papers accepted for publication in PACMNET will be invited to present their work at the ACM International Conference on emerging Networking EXperiments and Technologies (ACM CoNEXT<https://www.sigcomm.org/events/conext-conference>) held in the second week of December every year.

EEE Transactions on Network and Service Management
Special
Issue on
"Robust and Reliable Networks of the
Future"
