CALL FOR PAPERS
******************************************************************
The 21th International Conference on Pervasive Computing and
Communications (PerCom 2023), March 13-17, 2023
Atlanta, USA
http://www.percom.org
******************************************************************
Call for Papers
*Important Dates*
Paper registration in EDAS: September 26, 2022
Submission via EDAS: TBA
IEEE PerCom, now in its 21st year, will be held in Atlanta, Georgia (USA),
during March 13-17, 2023, as a physical event, with a provision for remote
participation. PerCom is the premier annual scholarly venue in pervasive
computing and communications. Pervasive computing is constantly at the
forefront of mobile systems research, and has found its way into many
commercial systems due to tremendous advances in a broad spectrum of
technologies and topics such as wireless networking, mobile and distributed
computing, sensor systems, ambient intelligence, and smart devices.
SCOPE
PerCom 2023 solicits research contributions in all areas pertinent to
pervasive computing and communications, especially those that cross
traditional research boundaries. In particular, we target:
Advances in pervasive systems and infrastructures: middleware systems and
services; data engineering for pervasive computing; cloud, fog and edge
computing; integrations of smartphones in pervasive experiences;
applications of device-to-device coordination.
Theories, models, and algorithms: context modeling and reasoning; adaptive
computing; activity and emotion recognition; programming paradigms; applied
machine learning; deep machine learning; federated learning; causal
learning; cognitive computing; complex networks; spatio-temporal modeling
techniques.
Domain-specific challenges and novel applications: urban/mobile
crowdsensing & intelligence; PerCom for healthcare and well-being;
cyber-physical PerCom; smart homes and virtual assistants; mixed reality;
sports analytics; crime prevention; pervasive nowcasting; urban robotics;
pervasive AR/VR; smart vehicles; disaster sensing and management.
Intersections of PerCom with: opportunistic networks; IoT and sensor
systems; RFID systems; pervasive data science, cyber physical systems, 3D
networks.
New techniques for user-level concerns: participatory and social sensing;
trust, security, privacy, and ethics; user interface, interaction, and
persuasion; online and offline social networking and pervasive computing.
Technological innovations: architectures, protocols, and technologies for
pervasive communications; energy-harvesting, self-powered, or battery-less
systems; mobile and wearable systems; smart devices and environments;
positioning, navigation, timing, and tracking technologies; device-free
human sensing.
Contributions can be analytical, empirical, technological, methodological,
or a combination. Papers reporting strong systems engineering contributions
backed by solid and appropriate evaluations are strongly encouraged. The
impact of the contributions should be demonstrated in the context of
pervasive computing and communications applications.
SUBMISSION DETAILS
TBA.
BEST PAPER AWARD AND EDITORIAL FOLLOW-UPS
The best paper will receive the prestigious Mark Weiser Best Paper Award.
Selected papers will be invited to submit extended versions for a special

IEEE Network Magazine
Special Issue on Smart Community Networks and Systems
https://www.comsoc.org/publications/magazines/ieee-network/cfp/smart-commun…
*Call for Papers *
Smart communities refer to urban cities, rural communities, or combined
regions that leverage innovative ICT technologies to benefit residents,
visitors, businesses, and organisations with economic growth, social
equality, and environmental sustainability. ICT infrastructures play an
instrumental role in the expansion of smart community possibilities by
providing communication channels and smart community networks to deliver
data between sending or receiving entities while meeting data performance
requirements. In detail, smart community networks connect a wide range of
objects, including people, assets, sensors, vehicles, business, and
organisations, with very different computing and resource limitations or
performance expectations. Applications run in smart community networks are
conducted to support intelligence and automation in different service areas
such as transportation, assisted living and healthcare, environment
monitoring, agriculture, climate-smart living, energy and facilities, etc.
The efficient operation of smart communities requires objects to be
interactive and applications to be correlated, increasing complexity in
achieving quality networking communications.
These challenges should be tackled collectively at different stages
of network development, including architecture design and planning, service
design and provision, infrastructure and device deployment, performance
management, and network and application evaluation. The aim of this Special
Issue (SI) is to offer a panorama of the latest advanced research efforts
on developing communication networks and systems for smart communities. We
seek high-quality original research studies or novel developments promoting
innovations in smart community networks and systems. The discussion of
future and emerging challenges, advances, regional/national deployment,
applications of smart community networks, artificial intelligence and
machine learning for smart community networks, and performance, mobility,
and security management are all of interest for this SI.
The SI will publish original, quality, and unpublished research or review
articles which should be comprehensible to all readers of
the magazine regardless of their speciality. The general scope of this
issue covers design, prototyping, implementation, algorithms, protocols,
theory, modelling, and literature review of future smart community networks
and systems. The following is a non-exhaustive list of topics in scope:
- Network architectures/infrastructures, algorithms, protocols, and
evaluation methods for novel smart community services
- Data-driven automation and artificial intelligence in support novel
smart community networks and services
- Threats and security in smart community networks and systems
- Autonomous mobility management in smart community networks and systems
- Modelling and theoretical development for smart community networks and
services
- Analysis and review of the deployment of regional or national smart
community networks
- Case studies or simulations of reginal or national smart community
networks
- Networking and systems for integrating smart community services across
different community sectors
- Integration of multiple smart communities via ICT infrastructures
- Advanced networks and systems for remote smart communities

*IoTSMS 2022 CFP:*
The Internet of Things (IoT) technology offers unprecedented opportunities
to interconnect human beings as well as Machine-to-Machine (M2M), whereby
sensors and networks allow all ‘things’ to communicate directly with each
other to share vital information allowing us to have an instrumented
universe where accurate data is readily available to inform optimal
decision making. The IoT is about to enable a range of new capabilities and
services far beyond today’s offerings. It will fundamentally change how
people go about their lives. The number of objects connected to the
Internet is set to reach 30.9 billion by 2025. Cisco estimates the number
will be close to 25 billion objects by 2025. Others believe the actual
number will be even higher with the assumption that any object with a
simple micro controller and on-off switch will be connected to the Internet
in the near feature. The scale of the IoT is set to have a major economic,
social and environmental impacts; the intersection of which forms the
future sustainable growth. The IEEE Internet of Things: Systems, Management
and Security (IoTSMS 2022) aims at soliciting original ideas on the broad
area of IoT including challenges and opportunities, concepts and
applications and future trends. The IoTSMS aims to facilitate discussions
among academics and IoT practitioners and make positive contributions to
the field. Authors are invited to submit original, unpublished manuscripts.
Submitted papers should be in accordance with IEEE format, and will be
reviewed by at least two expert reviewers in terms of relevance,
