self-organization from PHY to routing for wireless constrained dynamic and
mobile networks. She has been nominated as one of the 10 women stars in
computer Science in 2020 by the IEEE Communication Society. She has
published her research in more than 40 international revues and more than
120 international conferences. She coordinates the Horizon Europe SLICES-PP
project, participates in different Horizon Europe projects (CyberSANE,
NEPHELE) and in several program and organization committees such as Infocom

several PhD students and engineers.
Abstract: Digital technologies are spreading in agriculture as they do in
other economic sectors. One of the emerging technologies in agriculture is
IoT and among it wireless sensors and drones. Sensors are for instance
deployed to monitor the usage of intrants in different fields based on the
needs of the crop. But this goes with different challenges. During this
talk, we will see what are these challenges and how they could be tackled.

MISSION:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Critical Infrastructures (CIs) are an inevitable part of the modern,
interconnected world. Their main objective is to provide services essential
for the physical and economical well-being of citizens. The number of the
attack attempts such infrastructures endure, forces academy, industries and
public bodies to keep high the interest in the protection against security
threats. Recent Artificial Intelligence (AI) advancements improve CIs
protection through risk analysis. Digital Twins (DTs) enhance risk
assessment and decision-making by syncing complex systems and incorporating
data, including consumer behaviour.
CIPHERSS workshop aims at providing a forum to communicate their latest
results on theoretical advances, industrial case studies, practical
scenarios, and lessons learned in the design and in the verification of
properties of critical infrastructures.
TOPICS:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The topics of interest include but are not limited to, the areas listed below
-approaches based on the combination of different perspectives (e.g.,
physical and cyber security);

CALL FOR PAPERS
================================
“Learn from the mistakes of others. You can’t live long enough to make them
all yourself.”
-Eleanor Roosevelt
Not all research leads to fruitful results, trying new ways or methods may
surpass the state of the art, but sometimes the hypothesis is not proven or
the improvement is insignificant. But failure to succeed is not failure to
progress and this workshop aims to create a platform for sharing insights,
experiences, and lessons learned when conducting research in the area of
pervasive computing.
The papers of this workshop should highlight lessons learned from the
negative results. The main outcome of the workshop is to share experiences
so that others avoid the pitfalls that the community generally overlooks in
the final accepted publications. All areas of pervasive computing,
networking, and systems research are considered. While we take a very broad
view of “negative results,” submissions based on opinions and
non-fundamental circumstances (e.g. coding errors and “bugs”) are not in
the scope of the workshop as they do not indicate if the approach (or
hypothesis) was bad.
The main topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
- Studies with unconvincing results that could not be verified (e.g. due to
lack of datasets);
- Underperforming experiments due to oversights in system design,
inadequate/misconfigured infrastructure, etc.;
- Research studies with setbacks resulting in lessons learnt and acquired
hindsight (e.g. hypothesis with too limiting or too broad assumptions);
- Unconventional, abnormal, or controversial results that contradict
expectations of the community;
- Unexpected problems affecting publications, e.g. ethical concerns,
institutional policy breaches, etc.;
- “Non-publishable” or “hard-to-publish” side-outcomes of the study, e.g.
mistrials of experiment methodology/design, preparations for
proof-of-correctness of results, etc.
We also welcome submissions from experienced researchers that recount
post-mortem of experiments or research directions they have failed in the
past (e.g. in a story-based format). With this workshop, our aim is to
normalize the negative outcomes and inherent failures while conducting
research in pervasive computing, systems and networking, and provide a
complementary view to all the success stories in these fields.
Authors are encouraged to read “Perspectives on Negative Research Results
in Pervasive Computing” for context:
https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/10148650/
<https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/10148650/>
==================
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
==================
Regular papers should present interesting perspectives within the scope of
the workshop: negative results, lessons learned, and other fruitful
“failure” stories. Papers must be in PDF format and contain 6 pages maximum
(including references), but also shorter submissions are welcome. Papers
should contain names and affiliations of the authors (not blinded). All
papers must be typeset in double-column IEEE format using 10pt fonts on US
letter paper, with all fonts embedded. Submissions must be made via EDAS.
The IEEE LaTeX and Microsoft Word templates, as well as related
information, can be found at the IEEE Computer Society website (available
here: ieee.org/conferences/publishing/templates.html )
PerFail will be held in conjunction with IEEE Percom 2023. All accepted
papers will be included in the Percom workshops proceedings and included
and indexed in the IEEE digital library Xplore. At least one author will be
required to have full registration in the Percom 2022 conference and
present the paper during the workshop (either remotely or in location).
There will be no workshop-only registration.

*Call for Papers*
*Scope*
The 44th IEEE International Conference on Distributed Computing Systems
(ICDCS) is a premier international forum for researchers and practitioners
to present, discuss and exchange cutting edge ideas and latest findings on
topics related to any aspects of distributed computing systems. The
conference will be held in July 2024 in Jersey City, New Jersey, USA.
We invite you to submit your original contributions to ICDCS 2024
(https://icdcs2024.icdcs.org/ <https://icdcs2024.icdcs.org/>).
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
* AI/ML and Distributed Systems
* Algorithms for Distributed Computing, Scheduling and OS
* Big Data & Big Models
* Blockchain
* Cloud Computing and Data Centers
* Distributed Applications, Crowdsourcing and Video Analytics

* Industry and Interdisciplinary Studies of Distributed Systems and
Applications
* Internet of Things
* OS, Fault-tolerance and Dependability
* Security, Privacy, and Trust in Distributed Systems
* Mobile and Wireless Computing
* Federated Learning, Analytics, and Deployment
* Quantum Networks and Computing
*Paper Submission*
Papers must be original and unpublished, and must not be submitted
concurrently for publication elsewhere. All paper submissions should follow
the IEEE 8.5″ x 11″ two-column format using 10pt fonts and the IEEE
Conference template (downloadable by selecting “Conferences” in the
IEEE-Template Selector https://template-selector.ieee.org/
<https://template-selector.ieee.org/>). Each submission can have up to 11
pages (including references). Papers exceeding this page limit or with
smaller fonts will be rejected without review.
The full paper review process is double-blind. Authors are required to take
all reasonable steps to preserve the anonymity of their submission. The
submission must not include author information and must not include
citations or discussion of related work that would make the authorship
apparent. While authors can upload their paper to institutional or other
preprint repositories such as arXiv.org before reviewing is complete, we
generally discourage this since it places anonymity at risk. If authors
decide to upload their paper to a preprint site, they must make sure the
title and abstract of their submission to ICDCS are different from the
title and abstract of the preprint version, so that it is not immediately
obvious the two versions are the same paper.
If your submission is accepted for publication, up to 2 over length pages
may be purchased for the final camera-ready version. For each accepted
paper, at least one author is required to pay a full author registration
and attend the conference to present their work on site. No-show paper will
be reported to the publisher and removed from the conference publication.
For authors with multiple papers accepted by the conference, a separate
author registration is required for each paper.

Betreff: [CFP] 4th workshop on Human-Centered Computational Sensing (HCCS’24) - EXTENDED DEADLINE Dec. 1st 2023
* Call for Papers *
Fourth Workshop on Human-Centered Computational Sensing (HCCS’24) co-located with the 22nd IEEE International Conference on Pervasive Computing and Communications (PerCom 2024), March 11-15, 2022 - Biarritz, France.
https://sites.google.com/view/hccs24/home
The fourth edition of the Human-Centered Computational Sensing (HCCS’24) Workshop at PerCom 2024 aims to advance and promote research about how unobtrusive observations of human beings’ cognitive, behavioral, physiological, and contextual data is increasingly enabling new computing experiences. The workshop will additionally stimulate dialog about the implications of computational sensing for society. Traditionally, sensors have been understood narrowly as physiological measurements often captured with wearable devices. This workshop adopts a broader, human-focused view, envisioning sensing as time-evolving measurable data directly linked to individuals and, by extension, to their communities. With this understanding, sensing involves human reactions and interactions observed in spoken, written, or signed language, eye gaze, facial and bodily expressions, social networks, geospatial patterns, and other such human-generated data. Advances in multimodal human data acquisition and fusion have the potential to significantly impact all areas of human life - productivity, health and well-being, training and education, human-computer interaction, accessibility, safety and security, as well as gaming, sports, and entertainment.
* Relevant topics include but are not limited to:
- Novel methodologies for collecting and processing multimodal human sensing data, including remote/online data collection
- Co-sensing of multiple individuals, groups, or communities
- Detection and analysis of human social interactions, behaviour and habits
- Localization and proximity-detection systems
- User acceptance, quality of experience, and social impact studies
- Accessibility of human sensing technologies
- New interventions acting on human-centered computational sensing
- Fusion of multifaceted, heterogeneous, and/or incommensurable human sensing data
- Artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms for responsible behavioral analysis with human sensing data
- Interactive machine learning guided by humans, with sensing technologies
- Edge and fog computing architectures for human sensing
- Applications of human-centered computational sensing
- Innovative Human-Computer Interactions based on sensing
- Innovative visualizations and representations of human sensing data
- Evaluation metrics and methodologies
- Experimental analysis with human sensing data from real-world applications
- Human-centered sensing for healthcare, industry, and social good
- Educational insights from teaching human sensing technologies
- Experiences and lessons learned from research projects focused on human-centered computational sensing
- Privacy and ethical considerations for human-centered computational sensing
- Design of human computation sensing promoting diversity.
Organizers will consider the possibility of inviting authors of selected papers accepted to HCCS’24 to submit an extended work to a Special Issue of an international journal.
* Submission and Registration:
Authors are invited to submit technical or theoretical papers for presentation at the workshop, describing original, previously unpublished work, which is not currently under review by another workshop, conference, or journal. Papers should present novel perspectives within the general scope of the workshop.
Accepted workshop papers will be included and indexed in the IEEE digital libraries (Xplore).
Papers may be no more than 6 pages in length. Authors can purchase one additional page for the camera-ready version. Papers in excess of the page limits will not be considered for review or publication. All papers must be typeset in double-column IEEE format using 10pt fonts on US letter paper, with all fonts embedded. ## PAPER SUBMISSION AND PUBLICATION
Authors are invited to submit papers describing original, previously
unpublished work not currently under review by another conference,
workshop, or journal. Authors must make a good faith effort to anonymize
their submissions. Specifically, the authors should not identify themselves
in any content within the paper either directly or indirectly (e.g.,
through references). Where relevant, authors must refer to their previous
work in the third person write as if it was written by a third party.
However, authors should ensure that any anonymization of their work is not
destructive. For instance, omission of references to papers just because
they are the authors’ previous work should be avoided, as this could
prevent reviewers from finding that related paper for the purpose of the
review. Submissions violating anonymization rules will not be considered
for review.
Although submission is double-blind, non-anonymous preprints (on arXiv or
other preprint servers) will not lead to the rejection of your paper.
Reviewers will be instructed not to actively look for such preprints before
completing a first read of your paper, but encountering them will not
constitute a conflict of interest.
Only PDF files will be accepted for the review process, and all submissions
must be made electronically through EDAS.
Visit <https://edas.info/N30195 <https://edas.info/N30195>> to register
your paper now!
Authors can submit regular or work-in-progress papers (appropriate category
to be selected upon submission).
## REGULAR PAPERS
Regular papers submissions may be up to 10 pages in length (including
figures and references), formatted in two-column IEEE conference style with
font size 10 points or greater. See
<https://www.ieee.org/conferences/publishing/templates.html
<https://www.ieee.org/conferences/publishing/templates.html>> for IEEE
Manuscript Templates for Conference Proceedings.
## WORK IN PROGRESS PAPERS
WIP (Work-in-progress) papers provide a peer-reviewed forum for
late-breaking or preliminary research results, giving an opportunity for
researchers and practitioners to present and demonstrate their recent
research and obtain feedback from their peers in a poster session.
Work-in-progress papers submissions may be up to 4 pages in length
(including figures and references) and must have the prefix "WIP:" in the
paper's title.
## IMPORTANT DATES:
* Papers due: December 1, 2023
* Acceptance notification: February 19, 2024
* Camera-ready version due: April 14, 2024
## ACCEPTED PAPERS
An author of an accepted paper is required to register for the conference
at the full (member or non-member) rate. The paper must be presented by an
author of that paper at the conference. Exceptions can be granted if
compelling reasons are sent to the TPC Co-Chairs with a written request
indicating an adequate substitute presenter before the conference. Accepted
papers (both regular and WIP) will be included in the proceedings of IEEE
WoWMoM 2024 which will be published through the IEEE Xplore digital library.
All conference proceedings must meet IEEE's quality standards, and IEEE
reserves the right not to publish any proceedings that do not meet these
standards. Furthermore, IEEE reserves the right to remove papers from IEEE
Xplore that are not presented at the conference, for unjustified reasons.
## BEST PAPER AWARD
All accepted regular papers will be considered for the Best Paper Award. A
committee will select three best paper candidates based on the reviews
received and also the quality of presentation. The winner will be announced
during the conference. For any additional information, please contact the
PC Co-chairs.

*IEEE Transactions on Network and Service Management*
*Special Issue on *
*Robust and Resilient Future Communication Networks*
Robustness and resilience of communication infrastructures is a top
priority for network operators. To ensure reliable network operation, new
design and management techniques must be constantly devised to respond to
the rapid network and service evolution. As a recent and relevant example,
deployments of 5G communication networks will soon enter the next phases,
during which the network infrastructure will require upgrades to support
new ultra-reliable services with availability of up to 9 nines. Similarly,
disaster resiliency in communication networks is now attracting the
attention of media, governments, and industry as never before (consider,
e.g., the worldwide network traffic deluge to support remote working during
the recent COVID19-pandemic!). Fortunately, several new technical
directions can be leveraged to provide new solutions for network
reliability that includes increased network reconfigurability enabled by
softwarized networks (e.g., Software Defined Networking (SDN));
integration/convergence of multiple technologies (optical, wireless,
satellite, datacenter networks); enhanced forms of data/service replication
that is supported by edge computing; network slicing used to carve
highly-reliable logical partitions of network, computing and storage
resources. These, and many other technological transformations can enable
next-generation high-reliability networks.
Given the strong interest in both industry and academia towards reliability
of telecom networks and cloud-computing infrastructures, we organize this
fourth IEEE Transactions on Network and Service Management (TNSM) Special
Issue on Robust and Resilient Future Communication Networks (the first
issue published in September 2021). This Special Issue aims at the timely
publication of recent and innovative research results on this important
topic. This Special Issue is organized in collaboration with the
International Conference on the Design of Reliable Communication Networks
(DRCN), a well-established forum for scientists from both industry and
academy who have interest in reliability and availability of communication
networks.
We welcome submissions addressing important challenges (see the list of
topics below) and presenting novel research or experimentation results.
Survey papers that offer a perspective on related work and identify key
challenges for future research will be considered as well. /We look forward
to your submissions!/
