----------------------------------------
The Internet of Things (IoT) is an exciting research area that brings
together academia, industry, society, and governmental agencies due to the
innovative advances connected devices and systems bring to society. As the
IoT becomes more established and evolves, its focus widens from connecting
new devices, services, and functionalities to the Internet, to achieving
seamless and autonomous interaction among heterogeneous systems and their
users. Resulting networks may therefore take advantage of intelligent and
interoperable people, things, and services from both the physical and
virtual world, creating distributed ecosystems that are capable of
providing secure cross-domain interactions.
The International Conference on the Internet of Things is the premier
gathering for visionary and groundbreaking research in IoT and
closely-related fields. It connects world-class researchers with leading
industry experts to steer innovation in multiple IoT verticals (e.g., smart
industry, smart cities, smart health, smart environment). Since its start
in 2008, the conference has been backed by strong support from leading
academic institutions as well as industry. We are pleased to announce its
13th edition and associated workshops, which will take place physically on
November 7–10, 2023 at Nagoya University, Japan.

=====================================================================================================
In the last two decades, network technologies have evolved rapidly, and
mobile data traffic has grown steeply. The Cisco Visual Networking Index
(VNI) predicts that global mobile data traffic will almost triple from 2020
to 2025, reaching 184 exabytes per month. This growth is fueled by factors
such as the increasing number of mobile devices, availability of high-speed
mobile networks, and adoption of data-intensive mobile applications. 5G
networks are now widespread, providing higher data speeds and enhanced
throughput. However, some challenges remain, such as improving quality of
service for emerging applications, addressing mobile edge computing issues,
and enabling interoperable interfaces. These challenges drive the need for
research into the next generation of mobile Internet, 6G, which would
tackle these issues while providing new mobile services and defining
architectural components for the future.
MobiArch’23 will focus on the technical architecture issues for next
generation mobile Internet, to tackle the aforementioned challenges.
MobiArch’23 welcomes submissions from both researchers and practitioners
from academia and industry that explore the latest developments in mobile
communication technologies and architectures. In addition, we encourage
work-in-progress and position papers that describe highly original ideas,
present new directions, or have the potential to generate insightful
provocative discussion at the workshop. Workshop papers will be included
with the conference proceedings and posted in the ACM Digital Library.

** Call for Papers/Posters/Demos **
1st ACM MOBICOM Workshop on Mobile and Optical Wireless Experiments and
Systems (MOWES)
October 6, 2023 (half-day workshop)
Madrid, Spain
** Scope and Motivation **
A key lesson from the decades of radio frequency (RF) wireless and
networking research has been the need for development and experimentation
on testbeds at different scales. The recently introduced NSF PAWR program
is a testament to the continual need to build wireless testbeds at scale
and evaluate wireless technologies to advance them to the next generation.
The key drivers for advancing the legacy sub-6 GHz wireless technologies
are extensive mobility-focused experiments and testbeds, e.g., channel
characterization in realistic settings, mobility experiments at large
scales, integration with existing infrastructure, and living-labs. Mobile
wireless systems face new design challenges with the emergence of
technologies utilizing bands beyond the legacy sub-6 GHz bands, such as
visible light communication using solid-state lighting, infrared indoor or
inter-satellite optical wireless communication, and mmWave phased array
antennas. Experimental research to explore these new design challenges is
crucial to advancing the state-of-the-art in mobile communication and
networking, and a key requirement for advancing such wireless technologies
is the ability to extensively test and validate the technology under
different conditions. Mobile wireless systems can thrive and technology
transfer to industry is possible only if the technology can past-muster
extensive experimentation and testing.
The goal of this workshop is to provide a forum to bring together
researchers and design experts to share, discuss and brainstorm
experimental and systems research ideas in mobile wireless and optical
wireless communication and networking. The workshop aims to provide a
launchpad for bold and visionary ideas for applications and systems
research in this space. Areas of particular interest are experimental
mobile wireless research across all applicable spectrum bands
(acoustic/radio/optical) and hardware prototypes and testbed infrastructure
in optical wireless communication and networking. The workshop solicits
original contributions in, but not limited to, the following broad areas:
- RF mobile wireless communication and networking
- Acoustic mobile wireless communication and networking
- UV/visible/IR optical wireless communication and networking
- Metamaterials for mobile wireless communication and networking
- TeraHertz communication communication and networking
- Transmission and emission technologies
- Reception technologies
- Camera or visual communication
- Machine learning for mobile wireless communication and networking
- MEMS and semiconductors for mobile wireless communication and networking
- Underwater communication and networking
- Wireless experimentation research and/or teaching kits
- Living-lab wireless experiments or testbeds
- Wireless data collection efforts
Submissions from a wide spectrum of mobile wireless research, including
acoustic, radio, UV/visible/IR, and TeraHertz, are encouraged. If your work
is in the area of mobile wireless research with a strong focus on the
systems aspects, such as hardware, software, teaching infrastructure/kits,
testbeds, or data collection, then it is a great fit for MOWES. Any
theoretical or experimental work related to optical wireless is in scope.
Workshop papers will be included with the conference proceedings and posted
in the ACM Digital Library.

The ACM MobiCom 2023 Demo session solicits the submission of research,
platform, and product demonstrations,
and exhibits from both academia and industry. Demonstrations should
showcase innovative research or product
prototypes, platforms, and applications in the areas of mobile computing
and wireless and mobile networking. We
strongly encourage demos based on novel applications in the domain of
mobile computing and wireless systems.
We also welcome live demos reproducing evaluation results of papers
appearing in ACM MobiCom 2023 or past
editions as well as other relevant venues. Please refer to the main
conference introduction and CFP for the general
areas that are relevant to the typical MobiCom audience.
* Submission Instructions *
Please send your proposal of demo or exhibit as a “demo paper” through
HotCRP at the following link:
https://mobicom2023demos.hotcrp.com/
The demo paper should be a summary or extended abstract describing the
research to be presented, details about
what will be actually shown to the audience, maximum 2 pages in US letter
size (8.5 x 11 inches) with fonts no smaller
than 10 point size, in PDF file format with one extra page for references.
To comply to these requirements, you might
find useful the official ACM templates for LaTeX and Word. LaTeX users
should use the following document class:
\documentclass[sigconf,10pt]{acmart}
Demo submissions accept single-blind submissions. Once your demo submission
is accepted, we will include the
abstract of your demo paper on the conference website and publish it in the
main proceedings and the ACM digital
library. All demo submissions will be considered for the "MobiCom '23 Best
Demo Award".
Student authors of demo submissions can also opt-in for this year’s Student
Research Competition (see the
Mobicom’23 Poster CFP for more details). The SRC offers a unique forum for
graduate students (i.e., enrolled in
a master or Ph.D. program) and undergraduate students (students enrolled in
a program below master level) to
present their original research before a panel of judges and attendees.
Student authors are strongly encouraged to include their demo submissions
in the ACM MobiCom SRC.
* Demo presentation *
For accepted demo submissions, authors will prepare for demonstrating their
work during the dedicated demo session.
Please note that the session will only run on-premise, and we expect
authors to address questions from conference
attendees in a live demo session onsite (no hybrid mode).
We look forward to your submissions. Please feel free to contact us with
any questions
about submitting a Demo.
