==========================================================
PERCOM 2024 - CALL FOR PAPERS
==========================================================
The 22nd International Conference on Pervasive Computing and
Communications (PerCom 2024), March 2024
Biarritz, France
http://www.percom.org
==========================================================
IEEE PerCom, now in its 22nd year, will be held in Biarritz, France in
March 2024 as a physical event.
PerCom is the premier annual scholarly venue in pervasive computing and
communications. Pervasive computing is constantly at the forefront of
mobile systems research, and has found its way into many commercial
applications due to tremendous advances in a broad spectrum of technologies
and topics such as wireless networking, mobile and distributed computing,
sensor systems, ambient intelligence, and smart devices.
SCOPE
PerCom 2024 solicits research contributions in all areas pertinent to
pervasive computing and communications, especially those that cross
traditional research boundaries. In particular, PerCom targets
contributions in:
* Advances in pervasive systems and infrastructures: middleware systems and
services; data engineering for pervasive computing; cloud, fog and edge
computing; integrations of smartphones in pervasive experiences;
applications of device-to-device coordination.
* Theories, models, and algorithms: context modeling & reasoning; adaptive
computing; activity & emotion recognition; programming paradigms; applied
deep/federated/decentralized machine learning; causal learning; cognitive
computing; complex networks; spatio-temporal modeling.
* Domain-specific challenges and novel applications: urban/mobile
crowdsensing & intelligence; PerCom for healthcare and well-being;
cyber-physical PerCom; smart homes and virtual assistants; mixed reality;
sports analytics; crime prevention; pervasive nowcasting; urban robotics;
pervasive AR/VR; smart vehicles; disaster sensing and management.
* Intersections of PerCom with: IoT and sensor systems; RFID; opportunistic
networks; pervasive data science; cyber-physical systems; 3D networks;
green networking.
* New techniques for user-level concerns: participatory and social sensing;
trust, security, privacy, fairness, and ethics; user interface,
interaction, and persuasion; online and offline social networking;
human-machine collaboration.
* Technological innovations: architectures, protocols, and technologies for
pervasive communications; energy-harvesting, self-powered, or battery-less
systems; mobile and wearable systems; smart devices and environments;
positioning, navigation, timing, and tracking technologies; and device-free
human sensing.
Contributions can be analytical, empirical, technological, methodological,
or a combination thereof. Papers reporting strong systems engineering
contributions backed by solid and appropriate evaluations are strongly
encouraged.
Contributions should be novel (those presenting only minor improvements
over the state of the art will not be considered), should demonstrate a
significant impact (i.e., they should address an outstanding problem), and
should be rigorous.
Note that the impact of the contributions should be demonstrated in the

*IEEE Transactions on Network and Service Management*
*Special Issue on *
*Robust and Resilient Future CommunicationNetworks*
Robustness and resilience of communication infrastructures is a top
priority for network operators. To ensure reliable network operation, new
design and management techniques must be constantly devised to respond to
the rapid network and service evolution. As a recent and relevant example,
deployments of 5G communication networks will soon enter the next phases,
during which the network infrastructure will require upgrades to support
new ultra-reliable services with availability of up to 9 nines. Similarly,
disaster resiliency in communication networks is now attracting the
attention of media, governments, and industry as never before (consider,
e.g., the worldwide network traffic deluge to support remote working during
the recent COVID19-pandemic!). Fortunately, several new technical
directions can be leveraged to provide new solutions for network
reliability that includes increased network reconfigurability enabled by
softwarized networks (e.g., Software Defined Networking (SDN));
integration/convergence of multiple technologies (optical, wireless,
satellite, datacenter networks); enhanced forms of data/service replication
that is supported byedge computing; network slicing used to carve
highly-reliable logical partitions of network, computing and storage
resources. These, and many other technological transformations can enable
next-generation high-reliability networks.
Given the strong interest in both industry and academia towards reliability
of telecom networks and cloud-computing infrastructures, we organize this
fourth IEEE Transactions on Network and Service Management (TNSM) Special
Issue on Robust and Resilient Future CommunicationNetworks (the first issue
published in September 2021). This Special Issue aims at the timely
publication of recent and innovative research results on this important
topic. This Special Issue is organized in collaboration with the
International Conference on the Design of Reliable Communication Networks
(DRCN), a well-established forum for scientists from both industry and
academy who have interest in reliability and availability of communication
networks.
We welcome submissions addressing important challenges (see the list of
topics below) and presenting novel research or experimentation results.
Survey papers that offer a perspective on related work and identify key
challenges for future research will be considered as well. /We look forward
to your submissions!/

Scope and Motivation
=================
In recent information society, communication quality and network
reliability become even more important. Stable networks are essential
infrastructure in the modern life. In current communication infrastructure,
different networks need to co-exist for end-to-end quality of service (QoS)
provisioning in a wide range of heterogonous applications, with
virtualization technologies and AI/ML-assisted management.
The Communication QoS, Reliability and Modeling (CQRM) Symposium aims at
providing an international venue for the discussion of research advances in
communications service provisioning, quality of service/experience
technologies, modeling and formal methods, and analytical and experimental
techniques to allow the design of communication networks as a reliable
information infrastructure with QoS capability. The scope of this symposium
is agnostic to network technologies. Specifically, the goal is to address
the key challenges to provide the required level of QoS, resiliency,
security, and reliability to coexisting networks that are heterogeneous in
nature, in size, and in the type of information transmitted.
As Colorado is a national hub for the Cable, Space, and Satellite
Communication Industries, submissions on topics of interest to these
industries are especially encouraged.

* The DCOSS-IoT series of events are always technically co-sponsored by
IEEE, and Proceedings are published by IEEE Xplore.
The 20th International Conference on Distributed Computing in Smart Systems
and the Internet of Things (DCOSS-IoT 2024) will be held in Abu Dhabi,
United Arab Emirates. The conference is always co-sponsored by the IEEE
Computer Society and by the IEEE Technical Committee on Parallel Processing

In the last few years, we have witnessed significant growth in the use of
IoT and distributed sensor systems in several application areas, including

important aspects of security, privacy and trust. DCOSS-IoT focuses on
issues arising in the entire IoT and networked sensor systems stack,
covering aspects of high-level abstractions, models and languages,
communication technologies, novel algorithms and applications, system
design approaches and architectures, and tools for simulated and real
deployments. Potential authors are invited to submit original, unpublished

Dear Lars,
*Call for Posters and Demos*
ACM BuildSys 2023 welcomes exciting demonstrations of novel technologies,
applications, and hardware for the built environment as well as posters
showing promising early work. We seek participation from both industry and
academia for demonstrations and posters. Selection of demonstration and
posters will be based on a short abstract, evaluated based on technical
merit and innovation as well as the potential to stimulate interesting
discussions and exchange of ideas at the conference.
The demo and poster session is a great forum to share your early-stage work
with a broader audience. Accepted abstracts can appear in the regular
conference proceedings. At least one author, of every accepted
demonstration or poster abstract, is required to register at full rate and
attend the conference.
*Novelties this year*
We are introducing new presentations and attending options this year.
Firstly, authors with accepted papers (full or notes) to the main
conference will also be invited to submit a poster about their work.
Moreover, authors will have the possibility to opt-out of having their
demonstration or poster abstract indexed. Finally, there will be a new
virtual-only poster/demo session in addition to the in-person one.
More details on the submission types can be found in the Call for Papers
