Sorry for multiple postings. *IEEE Transactions on Network and Service Management* *Special Issue on* *Resilient Communication Networks for an Hyper-Connected World* Resilience of communication infrastructures is a top priority for network operators. To ensure resilient network operation, new design and management techniques must be constantly devised to respond to the rapid network and service evolution. As a recent and relevant example, deployments of 5G and 6G communication networks require network infrastructures to support new ultra-reliable services with availability of up to 9 nines. Similarly, disaster resiliency in communication networks is now attracting the attention of media, governments, and industry as never before (consider, e.g., the worldwide network traffic deluge to support remote working during the recent COVID19-pandemic!). Furthermore, governments are not only investing to increase the coverage and capacity of their networks, but also the reliability and sovereignty of their networks so that they are more secure and robust against attacks and unstable markets. Fortunately, several new technical directions can be leveraged to improve network resilience, including increased network adaptability enabled by network softwarization (e.g., Software Defined Networking (SDN)); integration/convergence of multiple technologies (optical, wireless, satellite, datacenter networks); enhanced forms of data/service replication that is supported by edge computing; network slicing used to carve highly-reliable logical partitions of network, computing and storage resources. These, and many other technological transformations can enable next-generation high-reliability networks. Given the strong interest in both industry and academia towards reliability of telecom networks and cloud-computing infrastructures, we organize this fifth IEEE Transactions on Network and Service Management (TNSM) Special Issue on Resilient Communication Networks for an Hyper-Connected World (the first issue published in September 2021). This Special Issue aims at the timely publication of recent and innovative research results on this important topic. This Special Issue is organized in collaboration with the organizers of the International Conference on the Design of Reliable Communication Networks (DRCN), a well-established forum for scientists from both industry and academy who have interest in reliability and resilience of communication networks. We welcome submissions addressing important challenges (see the list of topics below) and presenting novel research or experimentation results. It should highlight the technical contributions with sufficient detail to allow for a fair assessment of their merit, clearly outline the interactive features of the demonstration, and describe their potential to stimulate engaging discussions with the ICDCS audience. Additionally, authors are encouraged to include links to online resources in any digital form, such as a live online version of their demo or alternatively a video or a tutorial showcasing the main features of their demo and illustrating the potential interactive elements of their work. Finally, the submission should explicitly mention any special (non-standard) requirements for the proposed demo, so that the committee can consider them when evaluating the demonstration’s appropriateness to the conference setup. All demonstration papers should follow the IEEE 8.5″ x 11″ two-column format using 10pt fonts and the IEEE Conference template (downloadable by selecting “Conferences” in the IEEE-Template Selector (_https://template-selector.ieee.org/ <https://template-selector.ieee.org/>_). However, the design, implementation, and deployment of effective crowdsensing systems pose numerous challenges at various levels: data aggregation and processing, trust and data quality, data protection, incentivization techniques, mobility, application semantics and privacy to name some of the hot facets. The workshop on Pervasive Computing Challenges in Crowdsensing Systems (PerCrwod) aims to bring together researchers, practitioners, and industry experts, and provide a platform to share their experiences, insights, and research findings related to crowdsensing systems. The goal is to promote a discussion that can lead to identifying the key challenges faced in developing and deploying pervasive computing solutions for crowdsensing, explore innovative approaches and discuss the implications of crowdsensing on various application domains. We encourage submissions that present novel ideas, theoretical frameworks, empirical studies, and practical solutions in the field of pervasive computing challenges in crowdsensing systems. Authors are expected to provide sufficient evaluation and validation of their proposed approaches and methodologies. We solicit original contributions in topics of interest including, but not limited to, the following: - Architecture and design of crowdsensing systems - Data quality, trust, and privacy in crowdsensing - Energy-efficient sensing and communication techniques - Systems and platforms for crowdsensing - Machine learning and data analytics for crowdsensing data aggregation and classification - Sensing and data fusion techniques in crowdsensing - Incentive mechanisms and participant engagement strategies - Scalability and robustness of crowdsensing systems - Social, economic, and ethical aspects of crowdsensing - Performance evaluation of crowdsensing applications - Crowdsensing testbeds and platforms - Security and privacy-preserving techniques in crowdsensing - Modeling and simulation in pervasive crowdsensing applications ## PAPER FORMAT AND SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS All workshop papers are limited to no more than 6 pages in IEEE format aligned with the IEEE-Percom main conference guidelines.
