Cloud2Things 2025 - The 5th Workshop From Cloud to Things: harnessing
pervasive data in the Computing Continuum
March 17-21, 2025, Washington DC, USA - https://cloud2things.netsons.org
in conjunction with the 23rd IEEE International Conference on Pervasive
Computing and Communications (PerCom 2025)
===========================================================================
MISSION:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Computing Continuum concept refers to the opportunity of taking
advantage of a broad computing context that mixes Cloud, Edge and IoT
resources, thus providing a "continuum" of computing services that
applications will be able to access in a transparent and uniform fashion.
This workshop encourages submissions that address opportunities and issues
of the computing continuum landscape, and proposes experimental solutions,
case studies, deployed systems and best practices in this specific research
context.
The workshop is an opportunity for researchers to gather and discuss the
advantages of integrating multiple computing infrastructure layers into a
unified and pervasive computing context capable of offering customers a
one-shop virtual place where services can be tailored and offered in a
transparent and uniform way.
TOPICS:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Service design and Management
Service provisioning and monitoring in the computing continuum
Resource elasticity in pervasive contexts
Computation offload to Edge/IoT device
Cross-context and cross-domain service migration
Interoperability issues in the computing continuum
Orchestration of (micro)services in pervasive environments
Blockchain-based and ML-based resource orchestration
Smart solutions and strategies for the management of pervasive systems
Open-source frameworks and middlewares in the computing continuum
Data management and analytics
Scalable storage architectures in pervasive contexts;
Data migration issues in pervasive computing systems
Implementation of data pipes along the Things-to-Cloud path
Data governance in the computing continuum
Distributed Analytics in the computing continuum
Orchestration of Complex Mixed Data-parallel Dataflow Workloads in the
computing continuum
Network and communication management
Software-defined communication support in the continuum
End-to-end provisioning of network services in the continuum
QoS and SLA across heterogeneous networks
Digital Twins
Frameworks for Distributed Digital Twins (DDTs) in pervasive contexts
Design methodologies for DDTs
DDT-based applications and solutions in pervasive contexts
Resilient, scalable and secure DDTs
Non-functional features
Quality of Service and SLA of pervasive systems
Service continuity
Autonomic pervasive systems
Scalability and fault management in pervasive systems
Disaster recovery via pervasive solutions and systems (e.g. mesh networks,
UAV etc.)
Security and trust management in pervasive environments
Vertical domains
Smart City
Smart Industry
Smart Grid
Smart Agriculture
Smart Health
The use of Soft Computing/Computational Intelligence methods in facing
problems in the above topics is highly welcome, although not compulsory.
PAPER SUBMISSION:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Authors are invited to submit their papers written in English in IEEE
double-column format (IEEE standard conference templates). The paper length
may not exceed six (6) printed pages, which will have to include figures,
tables & references.
Submissions must contain original material and not be previously published,
or currently submitted for consideration elsewhere.

*** Open access ***
ITC follows an open access strategy. Accepted ITC conference and workshop
papers can be downloaded from the open ITC digital library. In addition, ITC
makes the effort to index accepted papers in public A&I databases. By getting
sponsorship of technical communities like IEEE and ACM, as well as sticking to
corresponding rules with respect to technical quality, papers of previous ITC
editions were included in the corresponding databases IEEE Xplore and ACM DL.
Since ITC retains the copyrights, it is possible to make the papers accessible
for free even in those public databases. This helps to increase the visibility
and accessibility of accepted papers.

[IEEE WoWMoM 2025]: Call for Papers
--------------------------------------------------------------
IEEE WoWMoM 2025
Call for Papers
May 27-30, 2025, Fort Worth, Texas
https://wowmomconference.uta.edu <https://wowmomconference.uta.edu>
--------------------------------------------------------------
IMPORTANT NOTE
--------------
WoWMoM 2025 will adopt a double-blind review process. Refer to the details
under Paper Submission for the requirements to double-blind submissions.
SCOPE AND OVERVIEW
------------------
IEEE WoWMoM 2025 is soliciting original and previously unpublished papers
addressing research challenges and advances in the areas of wireless,
mobile, and multimedia networking as well as ubiquitous and pervasive
systems and applications. Wireless networking technologies are continuously
evolving and have become a critical part of modern life, be it for
communication services, media distribution, or sensing and actuation
services within the Internet of Things (IoT). Appropriate resource
management, application design, and architectural networking paradigms are
necessary to provide users with high quality experience in multimedia
communication and services. Edge computing, machine learning and artificial
intelligence (AI) techniques are becoming essential tools to cope with the
increasing diversity of connected devices and the plethora of new
data-intensive and latency-sensitive applications. At the same time, the
interoperability among IoT environments (including wearable computing and
sensors), the network edge, and the cloud are evolving towards an
IoT-edge-cloud continuum that is expected to support a wide range of
application domains and services in a seamless and efficient manner. In
this context, providing rich sets of measurements for characterizing and
understanding the behavior of such complex systems is of paramount importance.
IEEE WoWMoM 2025 takes a broad view and seeks papers describing innovative
research contributions to the field of mobile and wireless networking and
applications. We solicit papers that present original work, validated by
experimentation, simulation, or analysis. We also welcome practical
experiences and experimental efforts from both industry and academia, duly
documenting the lessons learned from testbeds, field trials, or real
deployments.

PAPER SUBMISSION AND PUBLICATION
--------------------------------
Authors are invited to submit papers describing original, previously
unpublished work not currently under review by another conference,
workshop, or journal. Authors must make a good-faith effort to anonymize
their submissions. Specifically, the authors should not identify themselves
in any content within the paper either directly or indirectly (e.g.,
through references). Where relevant, authors must refer to their previous
work in the third person write as if it was written by a third party.
However, authors should ensure that any anonymization of their work is not
destructive. For instance, omission of references to papers just because
they are the authors' previous work should be avoided, as this could
prevent reviewers from finding that related paper for the purpose of the
review. Submissions violating anonymization rules will not be considered
for review.
Although submission is double-blind, non-anonymous preprints (on arXiv or
other preprint servers) will not lead to the rejection of your paper.
Reviewers will be instructed not to actively look for such preprints before
completing a first read of your paper, but encountering them will not
constitute a conflict of interest.
Only PDF files will be accepted for the review process, and all submissions
must be made electronically through EDAS.
Authors can submit regular or work-in-progress papers (appropriate category
to be selected upon submission).
REGULAR PAPERS
--------------
Regular papers submissions may be up to 10 pages in length (including
figures and references), formatted in two-column IEEE conference style with
font size 10 points or greater. See IEEE Manuscript Templates for
Conference Proceedings.
WORK IN PROGRESS PAPERS
-----------------------
WIP (Work-in-progress) papers provide a peer-reviewed forum for
late-breaking or preliminary research results, giving an opportunity for
researchers and practitioners to present and demonstrate their recent
research and obtain feedback from their peers in a poster session.
Work-in-progress papers submissions may be up to 4 pages in length
(including figures and references) and must have the prefix "WIP:" in the
paper's title.
IMPORTANT DATES
---------------
Papers due: November 22, 2024
Acceptance notification: February 12, 2025
ACCEPTED PAPERS
---------------
An author of an accepted paper is required to register for the conference
at the full (member or non-member) rate. The paper must be presented by an
author of that paper at the conference. Exceptions can be granted if
compelling reasons are sent to the TPC Co-Chairs with a written request
indicating an adequate substitute presenter before the conference. Accepted
papers (both regular and WIP) will be included in the proceedings of IEEE
WoWMoM 2025 which will be published through the IEEE Xplore digital library.
All conference proceedings must meet IEEE's quality standards, and IEEE
reserves the right not to publish any proceedings that do not meet these
standards. Furthermore, IEEE reserves the right to remove papers from IEEE
Xplore that are not presented at the conference, for unjustified reasons.
BEST PAPER AWARD
----------------
All accepted regular papers will be considered for the Best Paper Award. A
committee will select three best paper candidates based on the reviews
received and also the quality of presentation. The winner will be announced
during the conference. For any additional information, please contact the
PC Co-chairs.

* Distributed Fault Tolerance
* Distributed OS and Middleware
* Edge Computing
* IoT + CPS
* Mobile Computing
* Security, Privacy and Trust
* Blockchains/Databases
* Distributed Systems for AI/ML
* AI/ML for Distributed Systems
* Deployed/Emergent Applications & Infrastructures
PAPER SUBMISSION
The Paper strand provides the opportunity for researchers to present their
new state-of-the-art research in Distributed Computing Systems, which
makes, or has the potential to make, a significant contribution to the
field. Papers must be original and unpublished and must not be submitted
concurrently for publication elsewhere. All paper submissions should follow
the IEEE 8.5'' x 11'' two-column format using 10pt fonts and the IEEE
Conference template (downloadable by selecting “Conferences” in the
IEEE-Template Selector https://template-selector.ieee.org/
<https://template-selector.ieee.org/>).
Each submission can have up to eleven (11) pages (including figures,
tables, appendices, and references).
Papers exceeding this page limit or with smaller fonts will be
desk-rejected without review.
The paper review process is double-blind. Authors are required to take all
reasonable steps to preserve the anonymity of their submission.
The submission must not include author information and must not include
citations or discussion of related work that would make the authorship
apparent. While authors can upload their paper to institutional or other
preprint repositories such as arXiv.org before reviewing is complete, we
generally discourage this since it places anonymity at risk.
If authors decide to upload their paper to a preprint site, they must make
sure that the title and abstract of their submission to ICDCS are different
from the title and abstract of the preprint version, so that it is not
immediately obvious that the two versions are by the same authors and with
the same content. To encourage reproducibility, we encourage the authors,
whenever it is possible, to include in their paper a link to an anonymised
GitHub repository with all source code, scripts and data needed for the
reproduction of their results.
For each accepted paper, at least one author is required to pay a full
author registration and attend the conference in-person to present their
work on-site. Any no-show papers will be reported to the publisher and
removed from the conference proceedings. For authors with multiple papers
accepted by the conference, a separate author registration is required for
each paper. The authors should adhere to ethic and professional standards
of IEEE. Please refer to IEEE Code of Ethics and IEEE Policy of
AI-Generated Text.
Note: A set of highly selected IEEE ICDCS 2025 papers will be considered
for publication in the IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed
Systems (TPDS). The selected papers will undergo an extension process,
transforming them from their initial IEEE ICDCS conference format. These
extended versions will then be subject to a review by an editor from IEEE TPDS.
