CALL FOR PAPERS
International Conference on Embedded Wireless Systems and
Networks (EWSN)
In-cooperation with ACM SIGBED and ACM SIGMOBILE
February 17-19, 2020 - Lyon, France
https://ewsn2020.conf.citi-lab.fr/
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
IMPORTANT DATES
Paper registration: September 28, 2019
Paper submission: September 28, 2019
Authors rebuttal deadline: November 15, 2019
Notification: November 29, 2019
Each deadline is 23:59 UTC-12 (AoE).
SCOPE
The International Conference on Embedded Wireless Systems and Networks
(EWSN) is a highly selective single-track international conference
focusing on the latest research results on embedded systems and wireless
networking, key enablers for visionary scenarios such as the Internet of
Things and Cyber-Physical Systems. After last year’s positive experience
in China, the 17th edition returns to Europe in Lyon, France. The
conference continues its aim for broad, world-wide impact.
TOPICS OF INTEREST
The conference solicits both full technical papers and short papers
describing validated early ideas. Specific topics of interest include
but are not limited to:
- Communication and networking for wireless and embedded systems
- Sensing, actuation, and control
- Operating systems, middleware, and services
- Processing, storage, and management of data
- Programming paradigms, languages, and tools
- Time and location management
- Dependability (real-time, reliability, availability, safety)
- Privacy and security in applications and systems
- Human-machine interaction with wireless and embedded systems
- Design and implementation of real-world applications and systems
- Measurement studies and deployment experiences
- Green IoT (low-power, harvesting, energy management)
- Challenges of ultra dense networks
- Heterogeneous networks
- Applications and problems from developing countries and emerging markets
As always, contributions are welcome across the entire scope of the
conference. As the relevant environments grow increasingly diverse and
dense, we encourage contributions addressing this increased
heterogeneity, and ultra dense networks. Papers highlighting novel ideas
that are not ready for extensive evaluations, report on new tools and
platforms with limited evaluation, or topics that could be adequately
described in a short format are invited for submission as short papers.
Initial explorations of profound problems in developing countries that
have been addressed using IoT solutions may also be appropriate short
paper submissions.
The conference proceedings will appear in the ACM Digital Library.
Selected accepted papers will be fast-tracked to ACM Transactions on

Security and Communication Networks Journal
Special Issue: Security and Privacy in Internet of Medical Things (IoMT)
Call for Papers
The Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) is an ecosystem of connected
sensors, wearable devices, medical devices, and clinical systems. It
enables various healthcare applications to reduce healthcare costs,
provide timely medical responses, and increase the quality of medical
treatment. Driven largely by advances in wireless communications, sensor
networks, mobile devices, big data analysis, and cloud computing, IoMT
is transforming the healthcare industry by delivering targeted and
personalized medicine and by enabling seamless communication of medical
data. While these increasingly ubiquitous medical devices offer several
benefits, they also raise serious security and privacy concerns.
Healthcare systems collect and process sensitive and often life-critical
medical information and make critical decisions based on this
information. Cybercriminals targeting the vulnerabilities in these IoMT
devices can not only gain potential entry into the hospital network but
also obtain unauthorized access to sensitive personal and healthcare
information. Attacks on these connected devices can also cause
significant physical harm and life-threatening damage to the patients.
The goal of this special issue is to highlight state-of-the-art security
research in the field of IoMT. Contributions from both academia and
industry describing novel security and privacy solutions that address
the unique needs of healthcare systems are welcomed. Papers presenting
lightweight security solutions for resource constrained medical devices
are highly encouraged.
Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:
* Threats and attack models in IoMT
* Security risk analysis in IoMT
* Wearable and implantable medical device security
* Lightweight security solutions in IoMT
* Intrusion detection in IoMT
* Machine learning based security in IoMT
* Privacy-preserving technology in IoMT
* Blockchain for healthcare security in IoMT
* Authentication and access control in IoMT
Authors can submit their manuscripts through the Manuscript Tracking
System at https://mts.hindawi.com/submit/journals/scn/spimt/.

Call for Competitors
5th Dependability Competition at the
Intl. Conf. on Embedded Wireless Systems and Networks (EWSN)
February 17-19, 2020 - Lyon, France
http://ewsn2020.conf.citi-lab.fr/competition.html
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Following the success of the previous four editions, the International
Conference on Embedded Wireless Systems and Networks will host also this
year a dependability competition to benchmark the performance of
state-of-the-art low-power wireless protocols under the same settings
and in harsh RF environments.
******** SCENARIO AND CATEGORIES ********
The competition scenario will emulate the operation of a wireless sensor
network where several co-existing devices are crowding the RF spectrum.
In particular, the messages generated by several source nodes need to be
collected at a single destination in a reliable, timely, and
energy-efficient way despite the presence of interference.
In contrast to the previous editions, this year's competition will make
use of nRF52840-DK wireless nodes. Contestants are free to use any of
the technologies and physical modes supported by this platform.
Two categories are planned for this year's edition:
1) Single-hop data collection. In this category, up to 20 source nodes
generate raw sensor values of different length, which should be sent to
the same destination. The latter is located in proximity of all source
nodes and can be reached directly, i.e., in normal conditions, the sink
can be reached by every source node within a single hop.
2) Multi-hop data collection. In this category, up to 60 source nodes
generate raw sensor values of different length, which should be sent to
the same destination. The latter may be located several hops away from a
source node, even when making use of the coded PHY layers available on
the nRF52.
A detailed description of the scenario and evaluation procedure can be
found on: http://ewsn2020.conf.citi-lab.fr/competition.html).
******** FORMAT ********
The competition will take place remotely and the final results will be
announced during EWSN 2020 in Lyon.
Contestants willing to participate to the competition must submit a
short entry abstract describing their solution by the competition entry
deadline. The entry abstracts will be used to pre-select the teams
participating to the competition.
Accepted contestants will participate to a remote preparation phase
during which they can test and optimize their solution on the
competition infrastructure. At the end of this phase, all contestants
will be asked to provide a single binary file for the final evaluation
phase.
Each competing team will have the possibility to publish a competition
abstract as part of the EWSN proceedings that will appear in the ACM
Digital Library. Furthermore, a poster session dedicated to the
dependability competition will take place during the main conference.
The winners of each competition's category will be awarded during a
dedicated plenary session of the main conference and will be able to
hold a plenary short presentation about their solution.
******** ELIGIBILITY ********
Both academia and industry submissions are encouraged. Any low-power
wireless protocol is eligible and there is no restriction on the
operating system used to program the sensor nodes, nor on the wireless
technology used. There is also no requirement on the originality of the
competing solutions, which can be based on well-known protocols or
previously published material. The same team can participate in multiple
categories. The EWSN 2020 dependability competition will take place if
at least six teams competing in the same category respond to this
preliminary call.
******** SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS ********
Contestants must submit a short entry abstract describing their approach
by the competition entry deadline. This entry abstract should
prominently include the name of all members of the team, as well as
their affiliation and contact information. Furthermore, the entry
abstract should clearly state the categories for which the solution is
intended. All submissions will be treated as confidential until the
camera-ready deadline.
Detailed information about the submission instructions can be found on:
http://ewsn2020.conf.citi-lab.fr/competition.html.
******** IMPORTANT DATES ********
- Competition entry deadline: October 1, 2019 (23:59, AoE) -
Notification of acceptance: October 11, 2019 - Remote preparation phase:
from October 28, 2019 to December 19, 2019 - Submission of the final
binary file: December 20, 2019 (23:59, AoE)

*Special issue on Mobile Information Centric Networking*
*Aim and scope:*
Mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) are a breed of Self-Organized Networks
(SONs). In addition to the inter-node communication, it assumes that nodes
are connected to other smart objects equipped with a powerful multi-sensor
platform, communication technologies, computation units, and IP-based
connectivity to the Internet, thereby creating a network called Mobile
Internet of Things (MIoT).
MIoT applications are also based on cooperation-aware communication where
information is exchanged among communicating nodes. This phenomenon
advocates for a content-centric communication paradigm for MIoT
applications where the focus is on information itself rather than the
source and/or location of information. As a result, owing to the Future
Internet Architecture (FIA), content-centric networking (CCN) and named
data networking (NDN) have recently been considered to be the architectural
backbones for SONs and its breeds.
This Special Issue is soliciting original technical papers addressing the
main research challenges in the Mobile Internet of Things and its
applications over Future Internet Architectures.
*Topics:*
- ICN-based Wireless Networking and Internet of Things
- Mobile Named Data Networking
- Vehicular, Flying, and Underwater Named Data Networking
- Mobile networks communication architectures and algorithms over ICN.
- Security, privacy, and trust in Mobile Networks over ICN.
- ICN-Enabled 5G-IoT.
- ICN for delay tolerant and opportunistic networks.
- Cross-layer protocol design
- Multimedia communications in Mobile Networks over ICN.
- Performance, scalability, reliability and efficiency of Mobile
Networks communications over ICN.
- Caching and Forwarding Issues in Mobile Information Centric Networks.
- Testbeds and validation.
*Submission instructions:*
Elsevier Computer Communications submission system will be open for
submissions to our Special Issue from 01 04 2019. When submitting your
manuscript please select the article type “VSI: Mobile ICN”. Please submit
your manuscript before 01 10 2019.
All submissions deemed suitable to be sent for peer review will be reviewed
by at least two independent reviewers. Once your manuscript is accepted, it
will go into production, and will be simultaneously published in the
current regular issue and pulled into the online Special Issue. Articles

<https://conferences2.sigcomm.org/co-next/2019/#!/workshop-encp>
Scope and Topic List
The integration of computing and networking is considered a promising
direction to fulfill the strict low latency and high data exchange
requirements of a number of new and innovative application use-cases
(e.g., augmented/virtual reality, autonomous driving, drone coverage).
Context-aware networking can help maximize the compute utilization at
the edge increasing the network capacity. For instance, network
functions may enable intelligent distribution of tasks to resources, the
reuse of results from previously executed tasks, adaptability to the
dynamic nature of edge ecosystems (e.g., network dynamics, bursty rates
of tasks, dynamic resource availability).
The ENCP workshop has the integration of networking and computing as the
central theme with a focus on mechanisms for the joint optimization of
networking and computing resources, infrastructure virtualization,
in-network caching, compute reuse, and security and privacy concerns.
The ENCP workshop has the goal of serving as a venue, where minds from
the Distributed Computing, Information-Centric Networking (ICN), Network
Function Virtualization (NFV), Software-Defined Networking (SDN), Edge
Computing communities meet to advance the state-of-the-art in the area
of systems for In-Network Computing. The workshop welcomes submissions
from researchers and practitioners from academia and industry, who
explore challenges and advances in architectures, algorithms, protocols,
middleware, and technologies in the current or the future clean-slate
Internet. We also encourage work-in-progress and position papers that
describe original ideas, present new directions, or have the potential
to stimulate insightful discussions. ENCP invites submissions of
unpublished work on the following topics (but not limited to):
• Architectures of in-network computing
• In-network caching solutions
• Virtualization for in-network computing systems
• Network Function Virtualization (NFV) for in-network computing
• Security, privacy, trust management, and access control in
in-network computing architectures
• Information-Centric Networking (ICN) for in-network computing
• Software-Defined Networking for in-network computing

The 21st Annual International Workshop on Mobile Computing Systems and
Applications (ACM HotMobile 2020)
https://hotmobile.org/2020/
Sponsored by ACM SIGMOBILE
March 3-4, 2020
Austin, Texas, USA
Call for Papers
ACM HotMobile 2020, the Twenty-first International Workshop on Mobile
Computing Systems and Applications continues the series of highly
selective, interactive workshops focused on mobile applications, systems,
and environments, as well as their underlying state-of-the-art
technologies. HotMobile's small workshop format makes it ideal for
presenting and discussing new directions or controversial approaches.
We solicit submissions of papers that (1) focus primarily on systems and
applications and (2) propose new directions of research, advocate
non-traditional approaches to old (or new) ideas, or generate controversy
and discussion. We especially encourage papers that identify fundamental
open questions, advocate a new approach, offer a constructive critique of
the state-of-the-art, debunk existing assumptions, report unexpected early
results, report on promising but unproven ideas, or propose new evaluation
methods. Novel ideas need not be supported by full evaluations;
well-reasoned arguments or preliminary evaluations suffice. The program
committee will explicitly favor early work and papers likely to stimulate
reflection and discussion over a “6-pages conference paper.”
We take a broad view of Mobile Systems research. This includes:
· Novel applications, environments, and devices supporting mobility.
· Operating system and distributed system support for mobile
computing.
· Wearable computing, internet of things, edge computing, sensing,
and context-awareness.
· HCI issues related to mobile computing.
· Security and privacy of mobile computing.
· Management, configuration, and deployment of systems supporting
mobility.
· Wireless technology, as it pertains to mobile systems and
applications.
The deadline for submissions is *October 15, 2019, 11:59pm EDT*. Acceptance
notifications will be sent by December 15, 2018.
Presenting at HotMobile is a good way to get early feedback on research
ideas at least one year away from a full-fledged conference submission to
ACM MobiSys or other high-quality conferences. A full-length paper on the
same topic submitted to a conference in less than a year is unlikely to
include sufficient new material and mature ideas to warrant publication.
As is customary, papers must not have been published elsewhere and may not
be simultaneously under submission at another venue. Papers accompanied by
nondisclosure agreement forms are not acceptable and will be returned to
the author(s) unread. As customary with the scientific peer review process,
submissions will be handled as confidential material during the review.
Submissions should contain 6 or fewer U.S. letter pages in PDF format,
including all references, figures and tables. The submissions should not be
anonymous. The submissions must meet the following formatting requirements:
· Font size no smaller than 10pt.
· Font size of the bibliography no smaller than 9pt.
· Double column format with each column having dimensions 9.25
inches x 3.33 inches, a space of 0.33 inches between the two columns, and
with no more than 55 lines of text per column.
· Fit properly on US letter-sized paper (8.5 inches x 11 inches).
We recommend the use of the "sigconf" ACM proceedings template, available
at: http://www.acm.org/, with the font size of the main body amended to
10pt. An example Tex document can be found here. For more submission
guidelines, please visit the conference website. Please note that it is the
responsibility of the authors to ensure that the submissions are meeting
all formatting requirements.
The papers accepted to HotMobile 2020 will be publicly available from the
workshop's website for a limited time window, as per ACM's Digital
Library's Policy.
If you have any questions, please contact the PC chair at
