Technically co-sponsored by IEEE & IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc)
Recently, the Industry 4.0 revolution claims the need for a paradigm shift
consisting of a massive adoption of Information and Communication
Technologies by all factory departments (from business to production
lines), to transform production and product delivery processes radically.
I4.0 fosters a deep change in the rigid organization model of the factory.
The multiple implications of the “connected factory" concept will lead the
production environments to unexpected developments, impacting both OT and
IT layers. Connected and interacting objects will populate the factories of
the future.
In the prospected landscape, a progressive and decisive integration of the
IT and OT layers is expected to occur, which practitioners are used to
refer to as IT/OT convergence, stressing the shortening of the gap (both
physical and conceptual) between the manufacturing processes running at the
OT layer, and storage, networking, computing resources, and
business-oriented software suites populating the IT layer.
In this context, emergent paradigms, approaches, and technologies like
artificial intelligence (AI), privacy-enhancing technologies (PET),
cybersecurity, blockchain (BC), Cloud Continuum, Zero Defect Manufacturing
(ZDM), Zero Waste Manufacturing, Industrial Sustainability, IIoT Platforms,
Advanced Service Orchestration in industrial deployments, 5G/6G
communication, Digital Twins (DT), and metaverse are key enablers shaping
the development of an IT/OT convergent smart factory.
The focus of SITE is on the convergence of IT and OT layers within the
modern Industry 4/5.0 compliant factories, and the systems and technologies
that ease or enable this revolutionary integration.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
***********************************************************************
- Application of Industrial Cloud Continuum.
- IIoT Platforms and Service Orchestration.
- 5G/6G communication for industrial deployments.
- Computing continuum for smart cities services.
- Digital Twins for industrial process or product monitoring.
- Edge data center deployment in industrial environments.
- ML- and AI-based approaches cloud/edge-based smart
city applications.
- AI-driven models, architectures, and frameworks for edge computing.
- Reliable communication protocols in industrial production lines.
- Design and evaluation tools for scalability and efficient resource

2nd International Workshop on Orchestration and Resource Management:
Enabling the Future of Edge and Fog Computing (WORM 2025)
Co-located with NoF 2025. Sep 30th, 2025
The increasing number of connected devices is creating a growing demand for
processing power, which is stretching the capacity of traditional cloud
computing. The limitations of cloud computing, such as high latency and
network congestion when dealing with large amounts of data from IoT
devices, have led to the rise of Edge and Fog computing. These approaches
involve distributing processing power to intermediary layers closer to the
devices to overcome these challenges. AI is crucial in optimizing these
distributed computing systems, enabling devices to process data more
efficiently and autonomously. Edge AI, in particular, enhances real-time
decision-making by running AI models directly on edge devices, reducing
reliance on centralized cloud processing and minimizing latency for
time-sensitive applications. However, integrating AI into Edge and Fog
computing introduces new complexities, such as managing AI workloads across
multiple levels while ensuring responsiveness and reliability for IoT
applications.
Topics of Interest include, but are not limited to:
*
AI at the edge
*
Edge AI-Generated Content (AIGC)
*
Cloud-fog-edge availability and QoS/QoE management
*
Cloud-fog-edge resource management and migration
*
Cloud-fog-edge service orchestration
*
Cloud-fog-edge power efficiency for resources and Networking
*

Call for Papers
Ensuring network services in critical scenarios—such as post-disaster
areas, remote rural regions, and maritime environments—is a fundamental
challenge in modern wireless communications. Traditional terrestrial
networks (TNs) often fail to provide reliable coverage in these settings,
making the integration of non-terrestrial networks (NTNs), including UAV
swarms, drone-assisted relays, and satellite constellations, essential for
next-generation connectivity. As 6G evolves toward a three-dimensional (3D)
network architecture, seamless orchestration of aerial, satellite, and
terrestrial segments becomes crucial to overcoming limitations in coverage,
latency, and computational capacity. The RAIN4C workshop will explore
innovative strategies for joint communication, computation, and caching to
enable resilient and adaptive NTN-based architectures, with a particular
focus on UAV-assisted networking, drone-based edge computing, and
satellite-enabled service continuity.
Topics of Interest (including, but not limited to):
• Reliable NTN-based connectivity for post-disaster and remote scenarios
• Joint optimization of communication, computation, and caching in NTNs
• Edge-to-satellite continuum computation offloading for UAV-based networks
• Multi-layer caching strategies for latency reduction in NTN environments
• AI-driven resource allocation and orchestration in NTN-integrated 6G
networks
• Cell-free massive MIMO, mmWave, and sub-THz communications for NTN
• Routing, mobility management, and energy-efficient UAV swarm coordination
• Security, privacy, and trust in aerial-satellite communications
• Experimental testbeds, real-world deployments, and performance evaluation

==========================================================
IEEE PerCom, now in its 24th year, will be held in Pisa, Italy in March
2026 as an in-person physical event.
PerCom is the premier annual scholarly venue in pervasive computing and
communications. Pervasive computing is at the forefront of mobile systems
research, and has found its way into many commercial applications due to
tremendous advances in a broad spectrum of technologies and topics such as
wireless networking, mobile and distributed computing, sensor systems,
ambient intelligence, and smart devices.

Contributions can be analytical, empirical, technological, methodological,
or a combination thereof. Papers reporting strong systems engineering
contributions backed by solid and appropriate evaluations are strongly
encouraged.
Contributions should be novel (minor improvements over the state of the art
will not be considered), should demonstrate a significant impact (i.e.,
they should address an outstanding problem), and should be rigorous.
Note that the impact of the contributions should be demonstrated in the
context of pervasive computing and communications applications.
READ BEFORE SUBMITTING
PerCom 2026 will follow a double-blind review process. Authors are expected
to make a good-faith effort to anonymize their submissions. For detailed
submission instructions, please check thewww.percom.org
<http://www.percom.org/> website.
PerCom 2026 introduces a rebuttal phase to further improve the quality of
the review process. Authors are offered the opportunity to respond to the
initial reviews. Particularly, they are encouraged to briefly clarify
points, explain misunderstandings, etc.
PerCom would not be PerCom without its community. For this reason, we are
looking for ways to strengthen the community and encourage meaningful
