Dear Colleagues:
We cordially invite you to share your latest research results at the
2019 Internet of Vehicles (IOV) conference.
---------------------------
CALL FOR PAPERS
---------------------------
Internet of Vehicles (IOV) as an important part of the wisdom city is a
complex integrated network system, which connects different people
within automotives, different automotives and different environment
entries in cities. IOV is different from Telematics, Vehicle Ad hoc
Networks, and Intelligent Transportation, in which vehicles like phones
can run within the whole network, and obtain various services by swarm
intelligent computing with people, vehicles, and environments.
IOV 2019 is to establish an international forum for engineers and
scientists to present their excellent ideas, latest innovations and
experiences on Internet of Vehicles. We welcomes paper submissions on
innovative work from researchers in academia, industry and government
describing original research work, sharing the experience and insights,
forecast the trends and opportunities, and discuss the policy, economics
and social implications.
IOV 2019 will be held on Nov. 18-21, 2019, co-located with IEEE DataCom
2019, IEEE SOCA 2019 and IEEE SC2 2019, in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Topics of
interest include, but are not limited to:
● Vehicle Behavior Model and Environment Awareness

HotNets 2019: Eighteenth ACM Workshop on Hot Topics in Networks
November 13-15, 2019 — Princeton, New Jersey, USA
See the official Call for Papers --
https://conferences.sigcomm.org/hotnets/2019/cfp.html-- for details
The 18th ACM Workshop on Hot Topics in Networks (HotNets 2019) will
bring together researchers in computer networks and systems to engage in
a lively debate on the theory and practice of computer networking.
HotNets provides a venue for discussing innovative ideas and for
debating future research agendas in networking.
We invite researchers and practitioners to submit short position papers.
We encourage papers that identify fundamental open questions, advocate a
new approach, offer a constructive critique of the state of networking
research, re-frame or debunk existing work, report unexpected early
results from a deployment, report on promising but unproven ideas, or
propose new evaluation methods. Novel ideas need not be supported by
full evaluations; well-reasoned arguments or preliminary evaluations can
support the possibility of the paper’s claims.
We seek early-stage work, where the authors can benefit from community
feedback. An ideal submission has the potential to open a line of
inquiry for the community that results in multiple conference papers in
related venues (SIGCOMM, SOSP, OSDI, NSDI, MobiCom, MobiSys, CoNEXT,
etc.), rather than a single follow-on conference paper. The program
committee will explicitly favor early work and papers likely to
stimulate reflection and discussion over “conference papers in
miniature”. Finished work that fits in a short paper is likely a better
fit with the short-paper tracks at either CoNEXT or IMC, for example.
HotNets takes a broad view of networking research. This includes new
ideas relating to (but not limited to) mobile, wide-area, data-center,
home, and enterprise networks using a variety of link technologies
(wired, wireless, visual, and acoustic), as well as social networks and
network architecture. It encompasses all aspects of networks, including
(but not limited to) packet-processing hardware and software,
virtualization, mobility, provisioning and resource management,
performance, energy consumption, topology, robustness and security,
measurement, diagnosis, verification, privacy, economics and evolution,
interactions with applications, and usability of underlying networking
technologies.
Position papers will be selected based on originality, likelihood of
stimulating insightful discussion at the workshop, and technical merit.
Accepted papers will be posted online prior to the workshop and will be
published in the ACM Digital Library to facilitate wide dissemination of
the ideas discussed at the workshop.

The annual ACM/IFIP Middleware conference is a major forum for the
discussion of innovations and recent scientific advances of middleware
systems with a focus on the design, implementation, deployment, and
evaluation of distributed systems, platforms and architectures for
computing, storage, and communication. Highlights of the conference will
include a high quality single-track technical program, invited speakers,
an industrial track, panel discussions involving academic and industry
leaders, poster and demonstration presentations, a doctoral symposium,
tutorials and workshops.
Original submissions of research papers on a diversity of topics are
sought, particularly those identifying new research directions. The
topics of the conference include, but are not limited to:
* Cloud and data centers
* Virtualization, auto-scaling, provisioning, and scheduling
* Data-intensive computing (big data) and data analytics
* Stream Processing
* Machine learning
* Mobile and pervasive systems and services
* Internet-of-Things, smart cities
* Fog, Edge computing
* Cyber-physical and Real-time systems
* Energy and power-aware techniques
* Event-based, publish/subscribe, and peer-to-peer solutions
* Networking, network function virtualization, software-defined networking
* Multimedia Systems
* Fault tolerance and Consistency
* Blockchains
* Security and privacy
* Monitoring, resource management and analysis
* Middleware Design principles
* Programming abstractions and paradigms for middleware
* Reconfigurable, adaptable, and reflective approaches
* Reviews of middleware paradigms, e.g., object models, aspect
orientation, etc.
* Methodologies and tools for design, implementation, verification, and
evaluation
Original papers of three types are sought:
* Research Papers: These papers report original research on the above
topics, and will be evaluated on significance of the problem, novelty of
the solution, advancement beyond prior work, sufficient supporting
evidence and clarity of the presentation.
* Experimentation and Deployment Papers: These papers describe complete
systems, platforms, and/or comprehensive experimental evaluations of
alternative designs and solutions to well-known problems. The emphasis
during the evaluation of these papers will be less on the novelty and
more on the demonstrated usefulness and potential impact of the
contributions, the extensive experimentation involved, and the quality
and weight of the lessons learned.
* Big Ideas Papers: These are papers that have the potential for opening
up new research directions. For such papers, the potential to motivate
new research is more important than full experimental evaluation, though
some preliminary evidence of the effectiveness of the approach or idea
is important.
Confirmed keynote speakers:
Brian Cooper - Google
Monica Lam - Stanford University
Ion Stoica - Berkeley
Submission Guidelines
Submitted papers must have at most 12 pages of technical content,
including text, figures, and appendices, but excluding any number of
additional pages for bibliographic references. Note that submissions
must be double-blind: authors' names must not appear, and authors must
make a good faith attempt to anonymize their submissions. Submitted
papers must adhere to the formatting instructions of the ACM SIGPLAN
style, which can found on the ACM template page. Please note that it is
preferable, although not mandatory, to use a 10pt font instead of 9pt one.
The Middleware 2019 conference proceedings will be published in the ACM
Digital Library. The official publication date will be the date the
proceedings are made available in the ACM Digital Library which may be
up to two weeks prior to the first day of the Middleware conference.
Note that the official publication date affects the deadline for any
patent filings related to published work.
Software and Data Artifact Availability for Accepted Papers
The authors of accepted papers will be invited to submit supporting

submission is voluntary but encouraged and will not influence the final
decision regarding the papers. Papers that go through the Artifact
Availability Evaluation process successfully and are made available in
the ACM Digital Library will receive a badge printed on the papers
themselves.
Note to Authors:
By submitting your article for distribution in this Special Interest
Group publication, you hereby grant to ACM the following non-exclusive,
perpetual, worldwide rights:
* to publish in print on condition of acceptance by the editor
* to digitize and post your article in the electronic version of this
publication
* to include the article in the ACM Digital Library and any Digital
Library related services
* to allow users to make a personal copy of the article for
non-commercial, educational or research purposes
However, as a contributing author, you retain copyright to your article
and ACM will refer requests for republication directly to you.

Sixth IPIN Competition
on-site and off-site Indoor Localization
<http://ipin2019.isti.cnr.it/competition>
<http://evaal.aaloa.org/>
28-29 September 2019, Pisa, Italy
================================================================================
IPIN is pleased to announce the sixth IPIN 2019 Indoor Localization
Competition,
in conjunction with the IPIN 2019 Conference in Pisa (Italy). The
competition is
aimed at bringing together the academic and industrial research
communities for
evaluating different approaches and envisioning new research
opportunities for
the indoor localization area, where no generally accepted standards
exist yet.
IPIN 2019 Indoor Localization Competition will consist of several
tracks,
including on-site and off-site contests. Results will be presented
during
dedicated sessions of the IPIN conference and prizes will be awarded
to the
winners.
The competition builds on the experience of previous competitions and
is based
on the EvAAL framework, ensuring experience, solidity and a
well-founded
scientific method. In 2019 the competition hosts five different tracks:
Track 1: Smartphone-based
Track 2: Video-based
Track 3: Smartphone-based (off-site)
Track 4: Foot-mounted IMU based (off-site)
Track 5: xDR in industrial scenarios (off-site)
The winner of each track will be awarded a prize of 1500 €.
ON-SITE TRACKS
The competition will take place in the CNR Area of Pisa (IT). An actor
carries
the competing system by walking in and between multi-floor buildings.
Position
estimates are provided in real time. Data processing is local, without
using any
external aid. Survey of the area and system calibration is
restricted to a
single day.
Track 1 - Smartphone-based: The actor carries a smartphone which
runs the
competing system, using the sensors available on the smartphones to
identify the
user's position.
Track 2 - Video based: The actor carries video equipment on the upper
part of
the body (no Depth, no Lidar), processing is done using smartphone,
tablet or
laptop carried by the actor.
OFF-SITE TRACKS
Competitors calibrate their algorithms in advance using a ground truth
reference
database, and compete using new unreferenced data.
Track 3 - Smartphone based: A pedestrian walking under realistic
conditions in
multi-floor buildings using data provided by a conventional smartphone.
Track 4 - Foot-mounted IMU-based: A pedestrian carries PERSY
(PEdestrian
Reference SYstem) a state-of-the-art Inertial Navigation System
producing IMU
data, MAG data & GNSS data. Maps are not provided.
Track 5 - xDR in industrial scenarios: Practical performance of xDR
methods in
industrial scenarios: sensor data are measured in actual
operations in a
restaurant and a factory by Android devices. Technical competition details
The evaluation criteria for the competition, restrictions on the
accepted
technologies, technical rules to follow and a description of the
benchmarks are
detailed in the technical annexes to this call. Announcements and
possible
refinements of the annexes, also based on candidate competitors'
comments, will
be timely distributed on the competition discussion
mailing list
contest(a)evaal.aaloa.org and will appear on the IPIN web site.
All the data gathered by the competition committee during the
competition,
including data produced by competing systems, will be published
after the
competition for the purpose of research and comparison. Winners
of the
competition will be announced during the conference.
COMPETITOR ADMISSION PROCESS
A competitor can be any individual or group of individuals working as
a single
team, associated to a single or a number of organizations, who
wants to
participate in one or several tracks. Only one team from the same
organisation
(laboratory) is allowed to compete.
Competitors apply for admission to the competition tracks by providing
a short
(2 to 4 pages) technical description of their localization system (in
PDF, using
this template), which includes a description of the algorithms and
protocols
used. The technical description must be sent by e-mail to the chairs
of the
intended track, which is indicated in the relative annex. Track
chairs will
accept or refuse the application in a short time, based on technical
feasibility
and logistic constraints.
After acceptance of the competitor's technical description, one member
of the
competing team is required to register to the IPIN conference,
specifying that
the registration is linked to a competition track. Full registration
to the
conference covers participation in the competition process
(allotted time,
support and space) and the submission of one paper describing the
system. Note:
subscriptions related to competion allow for a single paper to be
submitted,
rather than the two papers mentioned in the instructions for authors.
Competitors who are authors of an accepted paper will be allowed some
time after
the conference for updating it before publication.
Competitors wish to test their system, but do not want to be included
in the
public rankings and compared with other competitors, may ask for that
special
condition in advance to the chairs of the relevant track, who can
accept or
refuse the application depending on their organisational constraints.
Competitors wishing to test their on-site system which does not fit
any of the
on-site tracks may ask chairs of Track 1 to be admitted off-track, which
will be
granted depending on organisational contraints. Committees
