SUBMISSION GUIDELINES All submitted papers will be judged based on their quality and relevance through single-blind peer review. Only original papers that have not been published or submitted for review elsewhere will be considered. Submitted papers should be written in the English language, with a maximum length limit of 9 printed pages (IEEE two-column format, 10 pt), including all the figures, references, and appendices. Papers longer than 9 pages will not be reviewed. All papers must be submitted in the Portable Document Format (PDF) electronically using EDAS (https://edas.info/N25189). When submitting the paper, the title, all co-authors, and a concise abstract of up to 200 words should be provided to EDAS as the metadata of the paper. The metadata should be provided before the abstract registration deadline. An author of an accepted paper is required to register for the conference at the full (member or non-member) rate and the paper must be presented by an author of that paper at the conference unless the TPC co-chairs grant permission for a substitute presenter before the conference. Non-refundable registration fees must be paid prior to uploading the final correctly formatted, publication-ready version of the paper. Accepted and presented papers will be published in the IFIP Digital Library and submitted to IEEE Xplore. To ensure appropriate consideration of conflicts of interest during the review process, changes to the list of authors are prohibited once a paper has been submitted for review. New applications, such as virtual reality and smart building control, have emerged due to the large number of resources and services brought by cloud computing. However, the delay-sensitive applications face the problem of large latency, especially when several smart devices and objects are getting involved in human’s life such as the case of smart cities or Internet of Things. Therefore, cloud computing is unable to meet the requirements of low latency, location awareness, and mobility support. To solve this problem, researchers have introduced a trusted and dependable solution through the Fog and the Mobile Edge Computing (FMEC) to put the services and resources of the cloud closer to users, which facilitates the leveraging of available services and resources in the edge networks. By this, we are moving from the core (cloud data centers) to the edge of the network closer to the users. FMEC dependability is based on providing user centric service. The purpose of Fog and the Mobile Edge Computing is to run the heavy real-time applications at the network edge directly using the billions of connected mobile devices. Several features enable the Fog and the Mobile Edge Computing to be a perfect paradigm to the aforementioned purpose, which are the dense geographical deployment of servers, supporting mobility and the closeness to users. As in every new technology, some challenges face the vision of the Fog and the Mobile Edge Computing, which are the administrative policies and security concerns (i.e. secure data storage, secure computation, network security, data privacy, usage privacy, location privacy, etc). FMEC 2019 conference aims to investigate the opportunities and requirements for Mobile Edge Computing dominance. In addition, it seeks for novel contributions that help mitigating Mobile Edge Computing challenges. That is, the objective of FMEC 2019 is to provide a forum for scientists, engineers, and researchers to discuss and exchange new ideas, novel results and experience on all aspects of Fog and Mobile Edge Computing (FMEC). Objects need to be smart, with enough intelligence to perform required operations. On the one hand, the objects should be able to deal with the possibly unpredictable and intense mobility and can wirelessly communicate with each other in a reliable and secure way. On the other hand, these objects must be socially aware, as we have witnessed a big growth in provisioning social network services including messaging, gaming, advertising, recommending, commercing, and content sharing on mobile objects. The HotSALSA workshop focuses on experiences with the design, implementation, deployment, operation, and evaluation of novel systems for smart objects and the social aspects of these systems in the emerging cooperative environments. We are seeking for original, previously unpublished work, addressing key issues and challenges in the social and mobile connected smart objects arena. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: - App concepts and algorithm design for mobile social applications and systems - Drone coordination and aerial communication - Interaction between mobile devices and cars - Location- and tracking-based mobile services and social networking - Measurement of social aspects in mobile systems and applications - Mobile centric social networking - Mobile edge/fog computing and networking - Mobile online advertising and payment - Pervasive and ubiquitous mobile social services - Playful social interaction: game, entertainment, and multimedia in mobile applications - Reputation, incentives, and economics in mobile systems - Security and privacy in mobility-aware mobile social networks - Sensors and data collection for social networking applications - Smart cities and urban applications - Social aspects of Mobile AR/VR - User behavior analysis in mobile applications - Wearable devices and computing Authors are encouraged to submit papers describing original and unpublished research, not currently under review in other venues, addressing state-of-the-art research and development in all aspects of mobile computing, social networks, or the intersection of both.
