The vehicles themselves can be targets for various types of cyber attacks, which can lead to theft, physical harm or manipulation of many critical functions that they provide. Additionally, the connected nature of CAVs means that data collected from the vehicles can be vulnerable to breaches, as well as data sharing with other entities such as manufacturers, service providers and governments. In terms of privacy, CAVs collect and store vast amounts of personal information such as driving patterns, location data and vehicle usage information. This information is sensitive and valuable, and if it falls into the wrong hands, it can be used for malicious purposes such as identity theft, targeted advertising or even physical harm. Additionally, privacy concerns are also raised with the sharing of data between CAVs and other entities, as well as the potential use of CAVs for government surveillance. Furthermore, with rapid adoption of emerging technologies in CAVs, including but not limited to advanced sensing, artificial intelligence and machine learning, blockchain, etc., CAV network becomes more open, meanwhile also more vulnerable to new security, trust and privacy challenges. To address these challenges, it is important to develop better security, trust and privacy approaches for CAVs, so as to secure CAVs and protect user data. In this workshop, we aim at attracting innovative research ideas from both academia and industry, and fostering discussions that could help better shape the future directions of security and privacy for CAVs.
