CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS
============================
=== 1st KuVS Workshop on Anticipatory Networks ===
* September 29-30, 2014, Stuttgart, Germany
* Submission: July 1, 2014
* Further information:
<https://www.cs.uni-paderborn.de/index.php?id=38322>
=== Overview ===
Anticipation is a promising new approach for designing telecommunication
net-
works. By predicting and adapting to upcoming events an anticipatory
network can
highly improve operation quality and efficiency. Driven by the
increasing cap-
abilities of "smart" handsets as well as by the recent progress in machine
learning and context-aware optimization, anticipatory adaptation
receives more
and more attention by researchers in industry and academia. While early
results
show the high potential of anticipation for specific scenarios, many
theoretical
and practical questions remain.
This workshop aims to consolidate the view on Anticipatory Networks, to
define
promising research directions, and to connect researchers in the field.
While
current research has considered anticipation mostly in a wireless
context, we
encourage discussions about applications in other systems as well, e.g.,
data
centers and backhauls. Researchers, scientists and engineers from
industry and
academia are cordially invited to present their work.
=== Topics ===
Suggested topics include but are not limited to:
* Models, bounds, and techniques for anticipatory adaptation and
optimization
* Algorithms and protocols for anticipatory adaptation and optimization
* System architectures for anticipatory networks, both conceptual and
legacy
integration
* Methods for anticipatory adaptation and optimization, e.g., from machine
learning, data mining, optimization, and signal processing
* Methods and approaches for predicting channel characteristics, user
mobility,
user behavior, application demands, and traffic requirements
* New uses of Smartphone sensors and network statistics for
anticipation and
adaptation
* Use cases, practical examples, and experimental results for
anticipatory net-
working
=== Submission Guideline ===
Researchers are invited to submit an extended abstract with a maximum of
3 pages
in IEEE Conference Style, US Letter format. The abstract should be
written in
English and submitted as a PDF file to <kuvs-anticipatory(a)uni-paderborn.de>.
The extended abstracts will be made available as a collection on arXiv.org.
* Submission: July 1, 2014
* Notification of acceptance: August 12, 2014
* Final Abstract submission: September 1, 2014
=== Organization ===
The event will take place from September 29 to 30, 2014 at the
Alcatel-Lucent
Campus in Stuttgart, Germany. For further information on the workshop's

ACM WiNTECH 2014
The 9th ACM International Workshop on Wireless Network Testbeds,
Experimental Evaluation and Characterization
Co-located with ACM MobiCom 2014
September 7, 2014
Sponsored by SIGMOBILE
http://www.eng.buffalo.edu/wnesl/wintech2014/Poster.html
WiNTECH continues its established tradition of hosting an interactive
demos and posters session, and welcomes
proposals for demonstrations of novel work in wireless network test
beds, measurement results and innovative
prototypes. The areas of interest overlap those listed in the technical
call for papers. The innovations showcased
can be at any network layer, from physical to application. However, we
particularly encourage demonstrations that
span over multiple layers and wireless networking must be their key
topic.
The exhibits must be demonstrated live at the workshop venue, i.e., a
presentation of a demo (powerpoint, video,
etc.) only is not allowed. We emphasize that the posters/demos session
is not a forum to display commercial
products. The posters may describe work in progress, while the session
will offer an excellent opportunity to
receive feedback and discuss early research.
All submissions will be reviewed by the technical program committee and
will be judged by their technical merit and
relevance to the workshop.
IMPORTANT DATES
Poster/Demo submission: June 13, 2014, 7:00 PM US east coast time (EDT)
Camera ready deadline (hard): July 19, 2014
Workshop date: September 7, 2014
POSTER/DEMO SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
Poster/Demo submissions will be handled by emailing the description to
wintech.demos(a)ed.ac.uk. The description
should not be longer than two pages (including figures, tables, and
references), using two-column format, 10-point
size or greater and in PDF format. A third page should be included
listing the demo requirements at the workshop
venue.

Workshop date: Sept 11th, 2014
### Scope:
Recent years have witnessed mobile devices surpassing stationary
Internet hosts in numbers and exponential growth of mobile data traffic.
Wireless has quickly become the dominate last-hop access to the
Internet. The mobility of users, devices and networks has become an
integral part of today¡¦s Internet. In the meantime, the network
infrastructure is the process of transforming from a hardware dominated
landscape to an increasingly virtualized and software-defined,
cloud-based system with decreasing dependency on hardware. The
increasing ability to collect and process large amount of data
pertaining to network, devices, and users are posing new challenges to
network design. As these trends continue in the near future, a
reexamination is urgently required for the architecture of the
mobile-centric Internet.
The lack of adoption of Mobile IP and IPv6 mobility extensions and
additional challenges posed by mobility have led to renewed interest in
a clean-slate design that comprehensively addresses mobility, without
existing architectural constraints. This requires addressing issues such
as efficient mobility management and optimization, locator-identifier
split, multi-homing, security and privacy, transport over wireless
access, user incentives to reduce network congestion, efficient
multimedia content distribution, new cloud computing infrastructure with
information centric networking, collection and management of data, new
business models for mobile data, and related operational/deployment
concerns. Furthermore, the architecture will need to include novel
services to meet the demands of today¡¦s fast evolving mobile applications.
MobiArch 2014 welcomes submissions from both researchers and
practitioners from academia and industry that explore challenges and
advances in architectures, protocols, and technologies in the current
Internet or in future clean-slate Internets. We encourage
work-in-progress papers, we especially welcome position papers that
describe highly original ideas, present new directions, or generate
insightful discussion at the workshop.
### Topics:

Call for Posters/Demo: IEEE VNC 2014
6th IEEE Vehicular Networking Conference
December 3-5, 2014 | Paderborn, Germany

Submit now using EDAS system: https://edas.info/N17911
---------------------------------
IMPORTANT DATES
---------------------------------
- Submission deadline: October 6, 2014 5pm US EDT
- Acceptance Notification: October 27, 2014
- Camera-Ready version due: November 10, 2014
Vehicular networking and communication systems is an area of significant
importance in our increasingly connected and mobile world. Effective
vehicular connectivity techniques can significantly enhance efficiency
of travel by mitigating the impact of congestion, reduce traffic
incidents and thereby improve safety, and overall provide a more
comfortable driving experience. Towards this goal, the 2014 IEEE
Vehicular Networking Conference (VNC) seeks to bring together
researchers, professionals, and practitioners to present and discuss
recent developments and challenges within the area of vehicular
networking technologies and their applications.
IEEE VNC 2014 will continue the tradition from previous editions to
include a poster session to allow the authors to closely interact with,
and obtain feedback from, the conference audience on new or on-going
research contributions related to vehicular networking. Posters are
especially suited for presenting controversial research directions that
may generate discussion, or promising ideas not yet fully validated
through complete extensive evaluation. IEEE VNC 2014 will also include a
demonstration session for researchers to showcase their latest
prototypes with media, models, or live demonstrations. The demo session
will be co-located with the poster session to ensure maximum visibility
and a close interaction with the conference audience. We solicit
proposals for demonstrations related to vehicular networking, describing
either mature or innovative systems and prototypes developed for
commercial use or for research purposes, from industries as well as
universities. We espe!
cially encourage demos on validating important research issues or
showcasing prototypes that demonstrate realistic applications.
Consistent with the submission policy of this year’s VNC edition but
different from previous editions, poster and demo submissions will be
put into distinct submission categories and therefore papers will not be
moved between different categories during the review process – i.e.,
full or short papers will not be “downgraded” to poster or demo papers.
---------------------------------
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
---------------------------------
All submitted papers will be peer-reviewed, and will be selected based
on the novelty and technical quality of the works, as well as the
expected interest to the VNC audience. Accepted poster and demo papers
will be published in the conference proceeding (also available on IEEE
Xplore) and will be advertised on the IEEE VNC 2014 website.
The submitted poster or demo paper should be a 2-page paper following
the VNC 2014 paper format (standard IEEE 2-column format and using
10-point font). All paper submissions must be written in English. The
title of the paper should begin with either “Poster:” or “Demo:”.
Optionally, a poster paper submission can also include an electronic
copy of the poster.
A demo paper submission should include an overview of the demonstration
set-up (the inclusion of photographs of the demonstrator are encouraged)
and the results that will be showcased to the attendees. We also
encourage the authors of the demo papers to include a link to a short
2-min demonstration video for the reviewers to facilitate the evaluation
of the quality of the demonstration proposal. If a video is included, it
will be downloaded by the demo co-chairs such that it can be hosted on
our website to ensure the anonymity of the reviewers. The videos of
accepted demonstration proposals will then also be advertised on the
conference website. For all accepted demonstration proposals, the demo
co-chairs will follow up with the authors to obtain requests for
required equipment and/or facilities (power outlets, Internet
connections, table dimensions, etc.). Demonstrations may be supported by
a poster describing the general set-up of the demonstration, its
background, and the!
technical content to be demonstrated. The authors should inform the
demo co-chairs if an accompanying poster will be presented.
Please note that for every accepted poster or demo paper, at least one
person must register for the conference and present the poster or demo.
---------------------------------
VENUE
