THE CONFERENCE
ICCCN 2011 marks the twentieth anniversary of one of the leading international conferences for presenting novel ideas and fundamental advances in the fields of computer communications and networks. ICCCN serves to foster communication among researchers and practitioners with a common interest in improving communications and networking through scientific and technological innovation.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CALL FOR PAPERS
SCOPE
The primary focus of the conference is on new and original research results in the areas of design, implementation, and applications of computer communications and networks. Authors are invited to submit papers that present original research to one of the following tracks:
1. Broadband Access Technologies (BAT)
2. Communication and Information Theory (CIT)
3. Energy Efficient Networking (EEN)
4. Internet Services and Applications (ISA)
5. Multimedia, QoS and Traffic Modeling (MQTM)
6. Network Architecture and P2P Protocols (NAPP)
7. Network Algorithms and Performance Evaluation (NAPE)
8. Optical and Grid Networking (OGN)
9. Security, Privacy, and Cyber-Physical Computing (SPCC)
10. Sensor Networks, Embedded Systems, and Pervasive Computing (SEP)
11. Wireless Ad Hoc Networks (WAHN)
12. Wireless Communication (WCOM)
INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS
Submitted manuscripts must be formatted in standard IEEE camera-ready format (double-column, 10-pt font) and must be submitted via EDAS as PDF files (formatted for 8.5x11-inch paper). The manuscripts should be no longer than 6 pages. Up to two additional pages are permitted if the authors are willing to pay an over-length charge at the time of publication (manuscripts may not exceed 8 pages). Submitted papers may not have been previously published in or be under consideration for publication in another journal or conference. The Program Committee reserves the right to not review papers that either exceed the length specification or have been submitted or published elsewhere. Submissions must include a title, abstract, keywords, author(s) and affiliation(s) with postal and e-mail address(es). A paper abstract must be registered on EDAS by the deadline indicated below.
Please follow the Conference submission link http://www.icccn.org/icccn11/author.html to direct access to the proper ICCCN 2011 page in EDAS.
REVIEW AND PUBLICATION OF MANUSCRIPTS
All submitted papers will be reviewed by the respective track TPC and judged on originality, technical correctness, relevance, and quality of presentation. CALL FOR PAPERS
http://www.adamus.ua.ac.be/content/call-papers
The widespread industrial uptake of mobile and ubiquitous systems is still compromised due to the highly error-prone and heterogeneous mobile provisioning environment, which induces several impairments to the normal operation. Thus, how to improve dependability of these systems is still an open issue. Despite a variety of research studies have been produced, it is still unclear whether current solutions are able to achieve the dependability level imposed by emergent mobile ubiquitous applications, such as smart urban mobility, wireless control of robots, and ambient assisted living. This is partially due to the lack of interaction between ubiquitous computing and dependable computing research communities. The ambition and mission of ADAMUS is to put on the foreground all above issues and to help bridge the gap between these research communities. ADAMUS'11 builds on the success of last year's, and invites novel contributions/papers of dependable ubiquitous computing from fundamental
aspects to various practical applications.
ADAMUS'11 will focus on the following research themes:
- Dependability and adaptation requirements and open issues for mobile ubiquitous systems;
- Design principles, models, and techniques for realizing dependable and adaptive mobile ubiquitous systems;
- Context data provisioning and modelling, and context-based infrastructures;
- Frameworks and techniques enabling advanced dependable applications on ubiquitous systems;
- Human-machine interaction and usability;
- Multi-device and highly heterogeneous ubiquitous systems;
- End-to-end approaches to the quality of experience of mobile services;
- Autonomous systems for adaptation and dependability;
- Mobile-enabled middleware architectures and standards for heterogeneous, dependable networks;

Consumer Communications and Networking Series
Apologies, if you receive multiple copies of the email.
Call for Papers
IEEE Communications Magazine
Consumer Communications and Networking Series
Recent trends in consumer networking are that consumers are both
creators and producers of content (albeit of varying quality!) and peer
distribution is the natural model. This is one of the emerging trends
that impact how consumers can use devices to create, manipulate, store,
and access content — and is surely a much different view compared to
only five years ago where most experts still viewed the world in terms
of servers and clients, producers and consumers as distinct and separate
entitiesÂ….indeed, there are still dinosaur organizations out there today
who are fighting a rearguard action to protect their dwindling revenue
streams because they havenÂ’t been brave enough to embrace this new
model. Trends like this are ones that papers for the consumer
communications and networking series should address.
We have also seen the technological reach of existing solutions being
applied in unconventional ways where all aspects of our digital lives
are being consumed to provide novel platforms where interoperation
between disparate technologies is now possible. For example, the
automotive industry is now producing cars that include ad hoc networks
designed to provide multimedia solutions as well as links to wide area
communications via satellite networks. Using these networking
capabilities and interfaces such as USB we see automobile functionality
being extended. In this sense the boundaries between the car and
conventional consumer devices are beginning to blur.
Perhaps the sole technology responsible for the many technological
advances we see today is communications. Example communications
technologies include the emergence of 3G and 4G, LTE and WiMax,
Bluetooth, Zigbee, Ultrawideband, TV-band, and Powerline and Free space
optical. Applications of these technologies include personal and body
area networking, home networking, game networking, ad-hoc networking,
and sensor networking. These networks may be connected through
networking layers that are cognitive, peer-to-peer enabled, and have the
properties of self organisation and management. These networks will
become key enablers where we are already seeing ubiquitous content
distribution models, for example, television can now be viewed wherever
we are and on any devices capable of connecting to one of the many
networking paradigms defined above. With these networks we can expect a
platform for true innovation where content distribution will overlay
these networks using compression, rights management, delivery, and
appropriate quality of service mechanisms that can be seamlessly moved
over these next generation networks. All of this is made possible by
networking, software and middleware that present to the service designer
the tools to provide ease of use, security, and stunning interactivity
to the end consumer.
With this in mind the IEEE Communications Magazine is seeking papers
that emphasize consumer networking in whatever physical environment it
finds itself. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to the
following:
Scope of Contributions
• Wireless Multimedia Networks
• Body and Personal Area Networks
• Mobile Networks and Multimedia
• Emerging Wireless Technologies (UWB, OFDM, RFID, Zigbee, etc.)
• Distributed Network Protocols for Multimedia HD Audio/Video Networking
• Networked Appliances

• P2P Algorithms and Architectures for Consumer Electronics Peer
Streaming, Networking and Applications
• Home Networking and Automation
• Next Generation Networks
• Pervasive Computing and Contextual Systems
• Middleware for Networked Consumer Devices

• Music and Movie Distribution Models
• Augmented Reality
• Task Computing and the Home
• Home Sensor Networks
• Autonomic Home Networking
• Zero Configuration Networking
• Digital Rights Management
• Trust in Social Networks

Articles should be tutorial in nature, with the intended audience being
all members of the communications technology communities. They should be
written in a style comprehensible to readers outside the specialty of
the article. Articles should not exceed 4500 words. Figures and tables
should be limited to a combined total of six. Complete guidelines for
prospective authors can be found at:
http://dl.comsoc.org/livepubs/ci1/info/pub_guidelines.html. Please

IWQOS 2011
5-7 June 2011
San Jose, California, USA
CALL FOR PAPERS
This year, IWQoS 2011 is co-sponsored by both ACM and the IEEE Communications Society and will be held at the San Jose Convention Center during June 5-7, 2011 as a part of the Federated Computer Research Conference (FCRC).
Also new for this year, we will have a Special Section organized in collaboration with the IEEE Transactions on Network and Service Management (TNSM) to provide fast-tracking of high-quality papers from this forum for journal publication, and a Best Paper Award will be given this year as well.
Improving quality of service (QoS) in both networks and end-systems has been a long lasting research focus worldwide. The eighteen-year-long success of IWQoS has established it as a highly reputable forum to present novel ideas on all research subjects related to QoS. While QoS research for future generations of wired and wireless networks continues to captivate much interest, recent exploration of data centers, virtualization, cloud computing, industrial communication, and "green" computing has motivated a new wave of research interest in QoS and its related metrics such as Quality of Experience (QoE) and Quality of Protection (QoP) . The scope of IWQoS 2011 covers both theoretical and experimental research on QoS related issues such as survivability, availability, reliability, security, privacy, pricing, resource provisioning and management, user experience, and system performance guarantees.
- Topics of interest include QoS issues in (but not limited to) the following areas: Data centers, virtualization and cloud computing
- Energy saving in networks and end systems; IT technologies to reduce energy consumption in applications
- Protection, experience, security and privacy
- System dependability, availability; resilience and robustness to faults and DoS attacks
- Scheduling, resource management, queue management, admission control; traffic engineering approaches and tools for provisioning and evaluation
- Quality evaluation metrics and methodologies; application-aware QoS parsing, identification and control
- Measurement, evaluation, adaptation and verification
- Network operations, pricing and billing, network and service management
- Architectures and protocols for IP and WDM networks, overlay and peer-to-peer networks; wireless ad-hoc, mesh, and sensor networks

=============================
Workshop on
Management of Cloud Systems (MoCS 2011)
June 28th, 2011
Kerkyra (Corfu), Greece
organized in association with the
Fifteenth IEEE Symposium on Computers and Communications (ISCC 2011)
Sponsored by (pending approval)
IEEE Computer Society and IEEE Communications Society
Endorsed by the IEEE Technical Committee on
Communications Systems Integration and Modeling (CSIM)
The vision of Cloud computing is becoming a reality thanks to the
recent advances in several significant computer and communications
research areas, spanning from grid/virtualization/utility computing to
Web 2.0 and Service Oriented Computing (SOC). After the initial hype,
at the current stage, several ongoing research efforts are focusing
on the several open management aspects of the Cloud, such as
interoperability, scalability, reliability, power management, and
confidentiality/auditability, with the final goal to make Cloud
technologies and services more mature so to boost and to facilitate
a more widespread industrial uptake of Cloud systems. Despite the
several recent efforts on Cloud systems, it is still unclear whether
current solutions are able to withstand the abrupt and unpredictably
changes imposed by the emergent Cloud application scenarios, where
services and the whole software stacks (from the kernel upward) have
to scale up and down fast by exploiting highly distributed and
heterogeneous virtualized resources.
The ambition and mission of MoCS 2011 is to put on the foreground all
above issues, and to bring together different ongoing research efforts
on the management of Cloud systems. This year, special focus will be
on the challenging management issues related to the delivery of
efficient Green computing solutions over the Cloud.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following:
* Novel adaptive management solutions for scalable, maintainable,
cost-effective Cloud provision, at all software stack layers;
* New models and paradigms for the management of Cloud services at the
host level and within/between data centres (intra-/inter-domain);
* Analytical and simulation models and tools to measure systems
ability to scale and to achieve relevant energy savings;
* New methods and tools able to identify and enforce optimal trade-
offs between performance, energy consumption, safety, and security;
* Emerging standards for interoperability (resource virtualization,
specific computing interfaces, etc.), also between public and
private Clouds;
* Experimentation testbeds, field trials and empirical evaluations,
and measurement studies.
Important Dates
Submission of research papers due: 28 February 2011
Notification of paper acceptance: 28 March 2011

The vision of the Internet of Things (IoT), supported by industrial
companies
and governments all over the world, marks an evolution that will surely have
a great impact on our environments and our lives. The central element of
this
vision is the existence of a network of interconnected objects (from
books to
cars, from electrical appliances to food) that will be able not only to
obtain information from their surroundings and interact with the physical
world, but also to use existing Internet standards to provide services.
However, security is extremely important for achieving this goal. As this
worldwide network of interconnected objects can be exploited anywhere by
anyone and anytime, it is necessary to enhance it with strong security
foundations able to give birth to a world-changing paradigm. In fact, in
order to adequately protect the IoT, there are plenty of factors that
must be
taken into account. For example, the protection of the different building
blocks, the creation of interoperable security mechanisms, the
development of
new services that allow multiple entities (e.g., human beings, machines,
objects) to cooperate with each other, and the management of all the
information produced by those interactions. This special issue is
proposed to
cover research results and innovation case studies on security for the
Internet of Things.
Topics of interest include but are not limited to:
* New security problems in the context of the IoT.
* Privacy risks and data management problems.
* Identifying, authenticating, and authorizing entities.
* Development of trust frameworks for secure collaboration.
* New cryptographic primitives for constrained "things".
* Connecting heterogeneous ecosystems and technologies.
* Legal Challenges and Governance Issues.
* Resilience to external and internal attacks.
* Context-Aware security.
* Providing protection to an IP-connected IoT.
* Web services security and other application-layer issues.
* Distributed policy enforcement and rights management.
* Usability of Security and Privacy Technologies in the context of the IoT.
Submitted papers must represent high-quality and previously unpublished
works. Original research papers are solicited in all areas on security
for the Internet of Things. All submissions will be peer reviewed by at
least three experts working in the areas. The guidelines for prospective
authors can be found at http://www.interscience.wiley.com/journal/security).
Prospective authors should submit their papers online at
http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/scn. When submitting the papers, the
authors should make sure to choose the Manuscript type as 'Special Issue',
and enter 'Running Head' and 'Special Issue title' as 'SCN-SI-029' and
'Internet of things', respectively.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Over the past decade, the development of digital networks and
operations has produced an unprecedented wealth of information.
Handheld electronics, location devices, telecommunications networks,
and a wide assortment of tags and sensors are constantly producing a
rich stream of data reflecting various aspects of urban life. For
urban planners and designers, these accumulations of digital traces
are valuable sources of data in capturing the pulse of the city in an
astonishing degree of temporal and spatial detail. Yet this condition
of the hybrid city - which operates simultaneously in the digital and
physical realms - also poses difficult questions about privacy, scale,
and design, among many others. These questions must be addressed as we
move toward achieving an augmented, fine-grained understanding of how
the city functions - socially, economically and yes, even
psychologically. This workshop aims to bring together researchers and
practitioners to discuss and explore the research challenges and
opportunities in applying the pervasive computing paradigm to urban
spaces. We are seeking multi-disciplinary contributions that reveal
interesting aspects about urban life and exploit the digital traces to
create novel urban applications that benefit citizens, urban planners,
and policy makers. The PURBA 2011 Workshop fosters discussions
covering topics such as (but not limited to):
- Pervasive computing applications for urban planning and design
- Mining of data collected from urban networks e.g. transportation, energy
- Urban mobility and geo-localization
- Multi-source urban information integration
- Real-time urban information processing
- City-related knowledge infrastructure and computational models
- Case studies and applications of mixed urban sensing and mining
- Analysis of social networks in urban space
- Middleware for mobile urban computing
- Context-aware systems for urban space
- Smart cities
- Intelligent transportation system
- Urban application demos and visualizations
- Wireless sensor networks, mobile devices, and social network sensing
- Security, privacy, reputation, and trust issues in urban computing
- Impact of pervasive technologies in urban space e.g. social,
economical, and psychological.

CALL FOR PAPERS
SAHNS 2011
The Third International Workshop on
Specialized Ad Hoc Networks and Systems
Minneapolis, USA, June 23, 2011
http://www.cs.wmich.edu/~alfuqaha/SAHNS2011/
In conjunction with the IEEE 31st International Conference
on Distributed Computing Systems (ICDCS 2011)
--------------------------------------------------------------------
1. SCOPE
The Workshop provides a forum for engineers and scientists in academia,
industry and government to present their latest research findings in
specialized ad hoc networks and systems.
As an alternative to one-size-fits-all general solutions in the area of
ad hoc networking and systems, we want to stimulate the application
oriented divide-and-conquer approach to ad hoc network and system
research. The goal is to provide sound and efficient specialized ad hoc
networks and systems (SAHNS), suitable for building solutions specific
for well-defined classes of applications or even individual applications.
We want to consider both specialized ad hoc networks and specialized ad
hoc systems. The latter can be built on top of specialized ad hoc
networks. Alternatively, they can be constructed independently of
specialized ad hoc networks, e.g., on top of general-purpose ad hoc
networks.
It should be emphasized that SAHNS is interested only in solutions
specific to specialized ad hoc networks and systems. The Workshop is not
interested in broad general-purpose solutions for all ad hoc networks
and systems, or in generic solutions for extremely broad subclasses of
ad hoc networks and systems. For example, the Workshop is not interested
in general-purpose solutions for all sensornets or all P2P systems but
is instead interested in specialized solutions for their
application-oriented subclasses.
One example of SAHNS targeted by this workshop are Incident Area
Networks (IANs), dedicated to single incidents or events. An IAN can be
pre-deployed for a planned event, such as a sporting or "nationally
significant" event, or can be dynamically deployed for an unplanned
incident, such as a local law enforcement situation or a natural
disaster. Another example are opportunistic resource utilization
networks (e.g., oppnets), in which the network reacts to a lack of
resources by finding and incorporating "helpers" that have needed
resources or services.
Areas and topics of particular interest include, but are not limited to:
a) Design issues for SAHNS:
o Novel network and system architectures
o Economically-based models and solutions (incl. incentive-based
techniques)
o Operating systems and middleware
o Customized network protocols (incl. cross-layer and Layer 2.5
protocols)
o Resource management solutions (incl. discovery and integration of
resources)
o Algorithms and models for localization and mobility management
o Privacy, security, and trust
o Reliability and dependability
o Novel hardware platforms
b) Development issues for SAHNS:
o Development methodologies, models and tools
o Analytical and validation models
o Performance evaluation and modeling (incl. simulation tools)
c) Operation and management issues for SAHNS:
o Topology control and management
o Energy control and management
o Resource and service discovery and control
o QoS provisioning and management
o Data management, data aggregation, data dissemination, and
query processing
o Assuring survivability and reliability
o Controls for privacy, security, and trust management
d) Application issues for SAHNS:
o Best current and future applications for SAHNS
o Experience with SAHNS deployments and products
o Social and business impacts of SAHNS-based applications
