IEEE WoWMoM 2011 is soliciting original and previously unpublished papers
addressing research challenges and advances towards a world of wireless,
mobile, and multimedia pervasive communications.
The evolution of wireless networking technologies and their key role in
Future Internet scenarios offer an increasing wealth of opportunities
for distributing multimedia contents over wireless networks, enabling
dissemination of professional contents to mobile users as well as
sharing user-generated contents between them. Users will be able to
retrieve, publish, and manage information, communicate with other users
or devices, access and author services, create and exploit context-
awareness and so on. Papers that present original work, validated by
experimentation, simulation, or analysis, are solicited. Practical
experiences and experimental efforts from both industry and academy,
duly documenting the lessons learned from test-beds, field-trials, or
real deployments, are also welcome.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Wireless multimedia systems,services&applications
- System prototypes, measurements, real deployment, and experiences
- Opportunistic and delay-tolerant networks
- Mobile Social Networking
- Participatory and urban sensing
- Energy-efficient protocols and power management
- Seamless inter-networking and self-organization
- Networking services for pervasive systems
- Content-centric architectures, multimedia content management and
distribution for mobile networks
- Ad-hoc, Sensor and wireless mesh networks
- Wireless BAN, PAN, LAN, MAN and WAN
- Vehicular wireless networks
- Middleware services for wireless, mobile and multimedia networks
- Context-awareness in wireless, mobile and multimedia networks
- Quality of Service and Quality of Experience
- Location mechanism and services
- Multicasting and broadcasting issues
- Handoff and mobility management
- Network management and control
- IP-based mobile networks and wireless multimedia services
- Wireless security, dependability, reliability and survivability
- Authentication, authorization, and accounting
- Modeling and performance evaluation

ITC 2011
23rd International Teletraffic Congress
Call for Papers
San Francisco, USA
September 6-8, 2011
http://www.itc-conference.org/2011/
ITC provides a venue for researchers from academia and industry interested
in design and control of communication networks, protocols, and
applications. The rapid evolution in these areas, driven by technological
advances and new business models, raises a critical need for continuous
reappraisal of modeling, control and management mechanisms. For instance,
as energy becomes an increasingly important design criterion, new
algorithms are needed to optimize the tradeoff between energy consumption
and quality of service.
In addition to improving network efficiency and performance, there has
recently been a significant interest in new network architectural
principles. How should the lower layers be structured to best support
content-centric networking? What network control and optimization issues
are raised by virtualization and cloud computing? What architectural
elements and business models are needed to meet user expectations for
service quality, reliability and security in a cost-effective way?
Now annually held, ITC 2011 solicits submission of papers with original
contributions, especially contributions that address novel issues, pioneer
disruptive paradigms, or propose innovative models and techniques.

IEEE INFOCOM 2011 Workshop on Green Communications and Networking
April 10-15, 2011
Shanghai, China
http://www.csit.carleton.ca/~fyu/GCN11/
Scope:
As concerns about climate change, rising fossil fuel prices and energy
security increase, companies and governments around the world are committing
great efforts to develop new technologies for the green strategies
addressing climate change globally and facilitating low greenhouse gas (GHG)
development. Currently, the GHG emissions produced by the Information and
Communication Technology (ICT) industry alone are said to be equivalent to
the GHG emissions of the entire aviation industry. It is estimated that one
small computer server generates as much GHG as a sport utility vehicle
(SUV). Furthermore, with the increasing demand for higher data rates, the
energy consumption for the ICT industry is increasing by 16-20% per year,
and the energy costs for mobile network operators can already be as high as
half of their annual operating budgets. Since the GHG footprint of the ICT
sector is dominated by electricity consumption, an obvious way to reduce
emissions is to focus on efficient energy consumption and use as much
electricity from renewable sources as possible. In addition, the role of
green communications and networking technologies includes not only the
emission reduction and energy savings in products and services, but also
enabling low GHG emissions in other industries, such as electric power.
Indeed, networks are crucial technologies for a smart power grid, which
monitors, protects and optimizes the operation of its interconnected
elements from end to end, with two-way flow of electricity and information
to create an automated and distributed energy delivery network.
This Workshop on "Green Communications and Networking" provides a forum for
discussions of all these most recent developments and brings together
industry and academia, engineers and researchers. The Workshop is in
conjunction with IEEE Infocom'2011 conference (http://www.ieee-infocom.org/)

***** CALL FOR PAPERS *****
Theme of the Workshop
=====================
Peer-to-peer (P2P) networks have received great research interests because
of their broad applications such as large-scale file sharing and media
streaming services. Until now, the success of P2P paradigms has been mainly
in traditional wired network environments. With the advance of modern
wireless and mobile communications (e.g., WLAN, MANET, WiMAX, 3G, 3.5G, and
emerging 4G), there is an increasing interest for mobile users with
broadband access to participate in P2P services anywhere anytime through
their mobile handheld devices.
Wireless mobile networks have special characteristics, such as highly
variable connectivity, disconnection, location-dependency, energy and
resource sensitivity, communication asymmetry, high bandwidth expense, and
so on. All these pose research challenges that do not exist in traditional
network settings. New techniques are thus required in order to leverage
mobile P2P computing for efficient and reliable applications and services.
Mobile P2P is a cross-disciplinary research involving networking,
information dissemination, databases, and security. The main goal of the
workshop is to gather scientists from these areas together to foster
collaboration and sparkle discussion on various aspects of mobile P2P,
including but not limited to, mobile users' scenarios and usage cases,
overlay design, development and deployment, mobile data dissemination,
mobile database management, and location- based information services. The
workshop also aims to discuss mobile P2P in various networking environments
