************************************************************************
Since its creation in 2002, ADHOC-NOW has become a well-established and
well-known international conference dedicated to wireless and mobile
computing. It serves as a forum for interesting discussions on ongoing
research and new contributions. The conference addresses both experimental
and theoretical research in the areas of ad hoc networks, sensor networks,
mesh networks and vehicular networks. It focuses on all issues from link
layer up to the application layer. In 2011, ADHOC-NOW will for the first
time
be organized in Germany, in the beautiful city of Paderborn.
We seek original contributions as work in progress, experimental and
theoretical research in Wireless Sensor, Ad-Hoc, Mobile and Wireless
Networks. Submissions must not be published or under review for another
conference or journal. We are interested, but not limited to, research
papers
in any of the following areas:
* Access Control
* Ad Hoc Networks of Autonomous Intelligent Systems
* Algorithmic Issues
* Analytic Methods and Modeling for Performance Evaluation
* Ad Hoc Network Applications and Architectures
* Delay-Tolerant Networking
* Distributed and Localized Algorithms
* Energy Efficiency
* Geometric Graphs
* Location Discovery and Management
* Mobility Handling and Utilization
* Mobile Ad Hoc Computing Platforms, Systems and Testbeds
* Mobile Social Networking
* Quality-of-Service
* Routing Protocols (Unicast, Multicast, etc.)
* Secure Services and Protocols
* Sensor and Actuator Networks
* Self-Configuration
* Service Discovery
* Time Synchronization
* Vehicular Networks
* Wireless Mesh Networks
* Wireless Internet
The conference proceedings will be published by Springer-Verlag, as part of
the Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series (pending). Each accepted
paper will be included in the conference proceedings, provided at least one
author of the paper registers to present the paper at the conference. High-
quality articles will be invited for a special issue of Ad Hoc & Sensor

IEEE ICC 2011 Workshop on Planning and Optimization of Wireless
Communication Networks (PlanNet2011) , Kyoto, Japan, June, 2011
www.ieee-icc.org/2011
**Aim of the Workshop**
The goal of future wireless networks is to provide ubiquitous
connections and support high data rate demand. The WiMAX, LTE, and
LTE-Advanced standardizations have already processed toward this
direction but still require significant improvements. Network planning
and optimization faces many challenges arising from the use of new air
interfaces and new technologies (e.g., MIMO, smart antennas,
cooperative relay), the mix of voice, video and data traffic, the
co-existence of different RATs (Radio Access Technologies), the
growing importance of indoor coverage and the paradigm shifts (e.g.,
femtocells). The future wireless networks cannot operate efficiently,
unless these challenges are properly addressed.
This workshop will bring together both the mobile communications
industry (operators, telecom vendors, radio network planning and
optimization consulting firms and tool producers) and academia to
present and discuss the problems, challenges, directions, and
state-of-art in the fields of future wireless communication networks
deployment, planning and optimization.
Topics of interest relating to network planning and optimization and
future wireless communications are (but not limited to):
* Automatic UMTS/HSPA/LTE/LTE-A/WiFi/WiMAX radio network planning and
optimization methods
* The use of measurements in radio network planning and optimisation
* Indoor network planning and optimization (BBU+RRU, repeaters, DAS,
picocells and femtocells)
* Heterogeneous wireless networks (UMTS/HSPA/LTE/WiFi/WiMAX/DVB)
simulation, planning and optimization
* Self-configuration, self-optimization and self-healing in LTE and
LTE-Advanced networks
* Traffic modeling and real network traffic scenarios
**Submission Guidelines**
PlanNet accepts only novel, previously unpublished papers. Submissions
must include an abstract, five to ten keywords, the e-mail address of
the corresponding author and should not exceed 5 pages, including
tables and figures (up to 2 extra pages at additional cost) in
standard IEEE camera-ready format (double-column, 10-pt font).
Submission is via EDAS. For EDAS settings, file format is PDF and page
size is A4.

CALL FOR PAPERS
Special Issue of International Journal of Network Management on
Quality of Service Management in Emerging Wireless Networks
http://paws.kettering.edu/~cwu/qos-si-ijnm.html
Publication: Fall 2011
Quality of service of wireless networks refers to the collective service
performances with respect to the user expectation and the network
configuration. Over the years, the wireless networks have not only expanded
in their sizes, such as geographical area and number of nodes, but also in
the variety of services, users, and deployment environments. Small mobile
devices, such as smart phones, that allow instantaneous high speed
information access and data processing have radically changed the way of our
living.
Moreover, the development of ad-hoc networks allows the easy formation of
wireless networks for information sharing and data gathering. Due to
various factors, wireless networks are constantly changing. For example, the
service pattern, workload, available resources (power supply, bandwidth,
beacons,
nodes etc.) are not fixed. Therefore, it is important to be able to access
and manage the quality of services for ensuring the optimal performance of
the networks. There are basically two aspects to QoS study in wireless
networks. One aspect is accessing and diagnosing the status of the networks
and evaluating the current level of service quality. The other aspect is to
study the network design to handle the changing factors of the networks so
that the quality of service is optimized under the constraint of the
available resources and service pattern. The quality of service management
and diagnosis of a network is closely related to wide range of fundamental
issues such as network topology, routing protocols, resource allocation,
communication layer, and working environments etc. The contributed papers
will study both practical and theoretical models and algorithms for
ensuring the high quality of service in wireless networks and the approaches
for
quality of service evaluation and diagnosis.
This special issue of the International Journal of Network Management is
seeking new and unpublished contributions addressing issues in Quality
of Service Management in Emerging Wireless Networks including, but not
limited to:
* Fault diagnosis
* Diagnosis middleware
* Reconfigurable networks
* Performance evaluation
* QoS evaluation model
* Self-healing networks
* Adaptable resource management
* Network simulation platforms
* QoS-oriented network planning
* QoS-based routing protocols
* Data management
* Mobility management
* Security and privacy
Papers describing current research and practice are solicited.

rise to novel mobile and nomadic applications. Mobile application
developers face numerous challenges related with location and context
awareness, personalization, mobile data management, porting over
multiple platforms, devicesÂ’ fragmentation, etc. Service providers are
responsible for application management, deployment models and middleware
support.
The goal of this special issue is to explore application-layer research
and development in mobile computing and solicit high-quality research
works outlining application development and industry status and trends.
All articles should consider the practical application of the idea

Call for Papers
The 17th IEEE Real-Time and Embedded Technology and Applications
Symposium
RTAS'11
April 11 - 14, 2011
Chicago, IL, USA
http://www.rtas.org/
Submission Deadline: October 8, 2010 (Hard deadline)
***************************************************************************
The IEEE Real-Time and Embedded Technology and Applications Symposium
(RTAS) is a highly selective forum for presentation and discussion of
original
research papers, covering all aspects of real-time and embedded computing
theory and practice. RTAS'11, the seventeenth in a series of annual
conferences sponsored by IEEE, will be held in Chicago, IL, USA, as part of
the Cyber-Physical Systems Week (CPS Week), April 11-14, 2011. CPS Week
2011
will bring together five leading conferences, namely the International
Conference on Information Processing in Sensor Networks (IPSN'11), the
International Conference on Hybrid Systems (HSCC'11), the International
Conference on Cyber-Physical Systems (ICCPS'11), the Conference on
Languages,
Compilers, and Tools for Embedded Systems (LCTES'11), and RTAS'11.
RTAS 2011 invites papers describing original contributions both to the
state
of art and the state of practice in the broad field of embedded and open
real-
time systems and computing. The scope of RTAS
2011 will consist of the traditional core area of real-time and embedded
systems infrastructure and theory, as well as two additional areas of
special
emphasis (specialized tracks): Hardware/Software Integration and Co-design,
Wireless Sensor Networks.
Core Area: Real-Time and Embedded Systems.
This thrust continues from previous years with a focus on embedded and real-
time systems. Papers should describe original contributions to
infrastructure,
system support, or theoretical foundations for real-time or embedded
computing. Submissions focusing on system design, implementation, and
performance evaluation, as well as industrial experience papers, are
encouraged. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
networks of
embedded computers; real-time communication; real-time resource
management and
scheduling; operating system and middleware support for real-time or
embedded
systems; energy and temperature management; QoS management; multimedia
embedded systems; security, dependability and reliability for real-time
embedded systems; real-time system modeling and analysis; composability;
control theoretical approaches and performance feedback control; formal
methods, WCET analysis; software engineering and programming
methodologies for
real-time embedded systems; distributed real-time information and database
systems.
Area A: Hardware/Software Integration and Co-Design.
This track focuses on design methodologies and tools for hardware/software
integration and co-design of modern embedded systems for real-time
applications. Such systems are increasingly complex and heterogeneous,
both in
terms of architectures and applications they need to support, so new
approaches aimed at their efficient design and optimization are in great
demand. General topics relevant to this track include various architecture-
and software-related issues of embedded systems design which include,
but are
not limited to, architecture description languages and tools, WCET
analysis,
software architectures, design space exploration, synthesis and
optimization.
Of special interest are SoC design for real-time applications, special
purpose
functional units, specialized memory structures, multi-core chips and
communication aspects, FPGA simulation and prototyping, software simulation
and compilation for novel architectures and applications, as well as power,
timing and predictability analyses.
Area B: Wireless Sensor Networks.
Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) has emerged as a new information paradigm for
distributed real-time and embedded systems. Example applications include
environment monitoring, emergency response, critical infrastructure
protection, medical care, intelligent transportation, and smart
manufacturing.
The WSN track aims at fostering interaction and collaboration of
researchers
and exchanging new ideas in various aspects of sensor network research. The
WSN track of RTAS is open to submissions addressing any major aspect of
sensor
networks. Submissions concerning real-time and embedded issues are
encouraged,
but not required. Authors are invited to submit original works that
demonstrate current research on various aspects of wireless sensor network
systems. Topics of interest include (but are not limited to): sensor
network
applications and deployment experiences; sensor network architectures and
protocols; programming abstractions; operating systems and middleware for
sensor networks; real-time operation issues in sensor networks; distributed
networked sensing; actuation and control; power and energy
management/harvesting; wide-area sensing services; detection,
classification,
and estimation; localization and time synchronization; security and
privacy.
SUBMISSION OF PAPERS
All papers must be submitted electronically in pdf format. Submissions
can be
made through the RTAS'11 web site (http://www.rtas.org). The material
must be
unpublished and not under submission elsewhere.
Submissions should be no more than 10 pages in IEEE two-column, 10pt
format.
Papers that do not comply with these restrictions may not be considered for
review.
A special Work in Progress (WiP) session will be organized and announced
later. This session will be for the presentation of on-going and recent
work.
