In a logical - and rapid progression - many social communities are now going mobile, using smart phones or other wireless devices instead of the PC. A 2006 report from ABI Research titled Mobile Social Communities says that social networking is going to have a major impact on mobile phones. The report says that the mobile social community numbers around 50 million users globally and that by 2011 the number will reach 174 million. In combination with further pervasive computing technologies mobile social networks will have a high impact on the way of communication and collaboration in Pervasive Computing environments. It will enable extended presence and awareness as well as flexible adaptation based on sensing infrastructures, new forms of interaction with computing devices influencing collaboration of humans, new forms of virtual togetherness based on technologies virtual environments and 3D web and Spontaneous interaction using Peer-to-peer and ad-hoc networking technologies. The goal of the PerCol workshop is to present the most recent research achievements in systems design, experimental evaluations and practical experiences in the named field. It should provide a forum for researchers and practitioners to discuss formal aspects, middleware platforms and services, protocols and mechanisms, applications and case studies in the context of communication, collaboration, and social networking in pervasive computing environments. Topics of interest to the workshop include (but are not limited to): - Theories, concepts, experiments and practical experiences - Platforms, frameworks and service environments - Location-, proximity and map-based mechanisms and applications - Mobile social networks and community-based technologies - Interest matching algorithms based on context, location, and proximity - Context-awareness and adaptation - Group context and group adaptation for mobile collaboration - Enriched awareness and presence based on virtual environments, sensor infrastructures and 3D web - Aspects of privacy and security in pervasive collaboration and social networks - Live multimedia streaming and collaborative on-demand streaming - New types of real-time and non real-time collaboration - New forms of interactions with devices and sensor-controlled interactions - Adoption of federated device infrastructures - Collaborative sharing and editing mechanisms and protocols - Spontaneous interaction using Peer-to-peer and ad-hoc networking technologies - Dynamic service binding and deployment - Multi-platform development of mobile collaborative applications - Energy efficient and mobile enabled protocols - Resource management and scheduling for mobile devices - Support for mobile marketplaces PAPER SUBMISSION AND PUBLICATION Submitted papers must be unpublished and not considered elsewhere for publication. Also, they must show a significant relevance to the workshop topics of communication, collaboration and social networking in pervasive computing. All papers should be in IEEE 8.5x11 conference format. Papers will be limited to 6 pages. Submitted papers will undergo a rigorous review process handled by the Technical Program Committee. Accepted papers will appear in the PerCom’10 Workshops proceedings published by IEEE Computer Society Press. Please note that all accepted papers need to have a full registration to the conference (there is no workshop only registration). Call for Papers für die Teilkonferenz Automotive Services (AS2010) der Multikonferenz Wirtschaftsinformatik (MKWI) 2010, Automotive Services 2010 Der zunehmende Einsatz von softwarebasierten System im Auto ermöglicht nicht nur die erleichterte Entwicklung kritischer Systeme, sondern stellt auch eine Infrastruktur für neuartige Software und Services bereit. Diese technische Basis erlaubt im Gegensatz zu anderen mobilen Anwendungen, die Verwendung umfangreicherer Ressourcen wie Rechenleistung, Bedienelemente und Darstellungsraum. Gleichzeitig spielt dabei jedoch die Sicherheit des Fahrers und die Richtung der Aufmerksamkeit bei der Nutzung solcher mobiler Applikationen im Fahrzeug eine kritische Rolle. Die Implementierung solch neuer Dienste kann nur Bedingt auf bestehende technische Systeme zur Entwicklung zurückgreifen. Für viele Anwendungsgebiete sind neue Werkzeuge und Konzepte erforderlich, welche eine schnelle Umsetzung, die angemessene Bedienung und die Integration in Backendsysteme erlauben. Die inhaltliche Konzeption, Ausgestaltung und Erbringung speziell von mobilen Diensten im Auto birgt große Herausforderungen. Dies umfasst neben der strategischen Ebene insbesondere auch neue Aspekte beim technischen Entwicklungsprozess. Auf der einen Seite muss die Integration neuer Akteure wie Content oder Service Provider berücksichtigt werden, während auf der anderen Seite neue Geschäftsmodelle und Wertschöpfungsketten eine Herausforderung darstellen können. Dieses neue Einsatzfeld macht in vielen Fällen zudem die Evaluation der Innovationen zum Nachweis der Wirtschaftlichkeit notwendig. Despite this, given their distributed nature, they share a large amount of problems and issues (e.g. efficient delivery of updates, synchronization, load-balancing). The aim of this workshop is to address the current and future trends in these topics with a particular attention to aspects that are in common, with the goal to foster interdisciplinary collaborative research in this areas. While the main focus of the workshop is on simulation tools and gaming technologies, the workshop also encourages the submission of broader theoretical and practical research contributions, such as the report of relevant case studies. Cross-disciplinary position papers, posing problems and giving input to the involved communities, are particularly encouraged. Furthermore, one of the aim of the workshop is to bring academic and industry researchers together with practitioners. CALL FOR PAPERS DWSAN4CIP 2009 International Workshop on Dependable Wireless Sensor and Actuator Networks for Critical Infrastructure Protection http://www.wsan4cip.eu/dwsan4cip November 10, 2009, Madrid, Spain Organized by EU FP7 project WSAN4CIP OVERVIEW: It is hard to overestimate the role of ICT systems in operational cycles of modern industry and life supporting infrastructures. ICT control systems are used to continuously monitor the state of industrial processes and status of critical infrastructures. Over the last few years Wireless Sensor and Actuator Networks (WSAN) technology appeared as an ideal technological building block to improve the reliability and availability of ICTs in critical operational environments. On the other hand WSANs themselves become part of a critical infrastructures and processes. Whenever another layer of complexity is added to a system, this opens new possibilities for system failures, misuse or malicious attacks. The critical prerequisite for WSANs to be adopted in performance critical applications is their dependability, i.e. the ability of a system to deliver specified services to the user. It is, however, by far not trivial to make WSANs dependable for variety of applications in different operation environments and having different performance requirements. For DWSAN workshop we solicit original contributions aiming at achieving dependability of WSAN technology on different layers. Experiences from real-life deployment of dependable WSANs, application dependent WSAN design methodologies, dependable MAC, network and transport protocols, general issues of reliability, security in dependable WSANs are some of the key research topics to be discussed during the workshop. The goal of the workshop is to present high-quality results in the field, and to provide a framework for research collaboration through focused discussions that will designate future research efforts and directions. In this context, the program committee will accept only a limited number of papers that meet the criteria of originality, presentation quality and topic relevance.
