CALL FOR PAPERS
The 14th IEEE International Conference on Mobile Ad Hoc and Sensor Systems
(IEEE MASS 2017)
Orlando, Florida, USA
October 14-17, 2017
IEEE MASS is a premier, annual forum for sharing original, novel ideas in
mobile ad hoc networks and wireless sensor networks, defined broadly.
Continuing this tradition, the 14th IEEE International Conference on Mobile
Ad hoc and Sensor Systems (MASS) will be held in Orlando, Florida, USA, on
October 14-17, 2017. Wireless ad hoc communications, Internet of Things, and
mobile computing are increasingly being used in civilian and military
applications in homes and businesses, cities and rural areas, sea and space.
Wireless sensor and actuator networks are being widely deployed for
enhancing industrial processes and management, for various forms of
environmental monitoring and control, and for improving quality of life.
Sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society, IEEE MASS 2017 aims at bringing
together researchers, developers, and practitioners to address recent
advances in mobile ad-hoc and sensor-actuator systems, covering algorithms,
theories, systems, protocols, applications, experiments, and testbeds.

International Conference on Embedded Wireless Systems and Networks (EWSN)
February 20-22, 2017, Uppsala, Sweden
Call for Posters and Demos
The International Conference on Embedded Wireless Systems and Networks
(EWSN) is a highly selective single-track international conference
focusing on premier research results at the intersection of embedded
systems and wireless networking - an area of highest relevance for
visionary technologies such as the Internet of Things and Cyber-physical
Systems as well as applications such as Industry 4.0, Smart Production,
Smart Cities, and Connected Cars.
In addition to full research papers, EWSN solicits submissions of poster
and demo abstracts. The poster session at EWSN will provide a forum for
researchers to present their work in progress and to receive early
feedback from leading experts attending the conference. In parallel to
the poster session, the demo session will offer a unique opportunity to
showcase real prototypes, tools, and systems to the conference attendees.
The areas of interest for both poster and demo abstracts are the same as
for full research papers. Please refer to
http://www.ewsn2017.org/call-for-papers.html
<http://www.ewsn2017.org/call-for-papers.html> for more details.
Each submission will be reviewed by at least three members of the
Posters & Demos Committee based on its quality and potential to
stimulate lively discussions during the conference. Accepted poster and
demo abstracts will be included in the conference proceedings, which
will be available in the ACM Digital Library.
Submission:
We adopt a single-blind review process for poster and demo abstracts, so
please do not anonymize your submission and include name, affiliation,
and contact information of all authors on the first page. Please also
provide a short abstract before the main body of your paper. Submissions
that do not meet the formatting requirements as given below may not be
reviewed.
Poster and demo abstracts must be submitted as a single PDF containing
no more than 2 pages, including figures, tables, and references. Pages
must have 8.5" x 11" (letter) two-column format, using 10-point font on
11-point leading, with a maximum text block of 7" wide x 9" deep with an
inter-column spacing of .25". Titles should start with "Poster: ..." or
"Demo: ..." depending on the type of abstract. Authors may use the LaTeX
template available at http://www.ewsn2017.org/ under Calls and
Submission -> Posters & Demos. On the same webpage, you find a link
where you can submit your poster or demo abstract.
As we particularly welcome contributions from students, the submission
system offers an option to explicitly signal whether the main author is
a student. Moreover, authors may optionally complement their submission
with a link to a video of at most 2 minutes that further illustrates the
work. Videos showing the demonstration are particularly welcome. If the
abstract is accepted, the video will be linked directly from the EWSN
website.
Presentation at the Conference:
In addition to an easel and space provided to every accepted abstract
during the poster and demo session, one author of each accepted abstract
will be given a 1-minute slot in a "madness session” within the main
conference program. In this session, authors will have the opportunity
to present their work to the entire conference audience, using a single
slide and a 1-minute speech. The best poster and demo will receive an award.
Important Dates:
Submission: December 8, 2016

Informatics
"Energy Informatics for Green Cities"
Deadline for manuscript submissions July 1, 2017
This CFP can be seen at the website of IEEE Transactions on Industrial
Informatics at http://tii.ieee-ies.org/.
The THEME
---------------
Energy Informatics is emerging as a new and interdisciplinary research
field. The main goal is to tackle the future global warming, energy
crisis, and climate change challenges by exploiting advanced ICT
theories and tools to address energy related problems. The scope of
Energy Informatics includes the next generation communications,
networking, computing, sensing and control technologies (e.g., big data,
machine learning, 5G, cloud computing, fog computing); and their
applications in the energy sectors (e.g., smart cities, smart grid,
electric vehicles, and PV systems). In the past decade, we have
witnessed a rapid development and application of advanced informatics
technologies (information, communications, and networking technologies)
to realize sustainable smart cities, covering many successful examples
such as green buildings, smart homes, distributed microgrid systems, and
green transportation systems. When equipped with advanced ICT
technologies, buildings and hom!
es are able to significantly improve energy efficiency, reliability,
and security in grid operations, while satisfying users’ comfort, and
thus benefitting all stakeholders, namely energy consumers, utility
companies, and energy generators. Moreover, distributed microgrid
systems facilitate the deep integration of renewable energy and promote
an efficient, secure, and economic exploitation of renewable energy
resources. The rapid development of informatics technologies also leads
to the success of green transportation systems, driving an exponential
growth in using electric vehicles. A variety of recent advanced
informatics technologies play important and indispensable roles in
green transportation systems, and enable the joint management of energy
flows, information flows, as well as transportation flows.

5th GI/ITG KuVS Fachgespräch Inter-Vehicle Communication
http://www7.cs.fau.de/fgivc2017/
April 6-7, 2017
Friedrich-Alexander-Universität, Erlangen, Germany
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: March 3th, 2017
MOTIVATION: Inter-vehicle communication (IVC), the management and
control of network connections among vehicles as well as between
vehicles and existing network infrastructure, is a maturing research
field that is gaining a massive momentum. First standardization efforts
across all layers, by both IEEE and ETSI, have already borne fruit,
allowing researchers to gain valuable insights into both the strengths
and the shortcomings of current approaches. The U.S. Department of
Transportation decided to introduce IVC until 2020 using IEEE 802.11p,
while in Europe the decision is not met yet. The investment of European
automobile manufacturers and OEMs into this idea is not only expressed
in successful efforts to reserve dedicated radio spectrum harmonized
across Europe, but is also reflected in numerous research ventures in
cooperation with academia. However, the gathered knowledge is still
fragmented, making it hard for new players to get into the game and
affording even experienced groups only a restricted view on this complex
field.
The goal of this year's event is to give an interdisciplinary overview
on recent research activities in the area of inter-vehicle communication
(IVC) including results and work in progress. One guiding theme of this
5th GI/ITG KuVS Fachgespräch Inter-Vehicle Communication is, but not
limited to "Connected Mobility". Moreover, contributions addressing
standardization activities, field trials, and use-cases are very
welcome. We invite young researchers and their experienced colleagues to
discuss about technologies, methods, and innovative mobility applications.

Hi all,
The registration deadline of MobiSys’17 is only two days away! Make sure
that you register your paper by this Thursday (Dec. 1st).
===============================
ACM MobiSys'17 Call for Papers
===============================
https://www.sigmobile.org/mobisys/2017/
<https://www.sigmobile.org/mobisys/2017/>
submission site: https://mobisys17.hotcrp.com/
<https://mobisys17.hotcrp.com/>
MobiSys 2017 will continue the tradition of publishing top-notch
research papers dealing with all aspects of mobile systems. MobiSys
seeks original papers that take a broad systems perspective rather than
focus narrowly on low-level components. Of particular interest are
technical contributions that enable new and compelling mobile scenarios
and applications. The conference values results and insights obtained
from working implementations more highly than those obtained solely from
simulations.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
* Experience with mobile applications, networks and systems
* Innovative mobile, mobile sensing, and mobile crowdsourcing apps
* Tools for building and measuring mobile systems
* Innovative wearable or mobile devices
* Novel software architectures for mobile devices
* Data management for mobile applications
* Infrastructure support for node mobility
* System-level energy management for mobile devices
* Operating systems for mobile devices
* Support for mobile social networking and mobile Web
* Security and privacy in mobile systems
* Systems for location and context sensing and awareness
* Mobile computing support for pervasive computing
* Vehicular and robotic wireless systems
* User interfaces and usability for mobile applications and systems
* Systems and networking support for Virtual and Augmented Reality
* Applications of mobile systems in health, sustainability, and other
domains
* Non-traditional topics that bring new perspective to mobile computing
Papers on work that is currently under review, whether in shorter,
longer, or the same form, must not be submitted to MobiSys. Submission
of a longer version of a published, not just accepted, workshop paper is
encouraged if it includes significant new contributions. However, the
authors must cite their workshop paper. Submissions will be single
blind, i.e., reviewers will be anonymous and submissions should include
authors' names and institutions.
We strongly encourage prospective authors to use past MobiSys
proceedings as a guideline to assess the readiness of their work for
submission. Due to high review load on PC members, low quality or
premature work submitted to the conference is likely to receive a
smaller number of reviews and the reviews may be brief.
ACM has been making an effort to support more open access to the
proceedings of its sponsored conferences. As a result, the MobiSys 2017
proceedings may be publicly available through the conference website
from two weeks before the conference to two weeks after it.
Simultaneous submission of the same work to multiple venues, submission
of previously published work, or plagiarism constitutes dishonesty or
fraud. Papers meeting any of these criteria will be rejected. Authors
uncertain whether their submission meets these guidelines should contact
the program chairs. Papers accompanied by nondisclosure agreement forms
will not be considered. Accepted submissions will be treated as
confidential prior to publication; rejected submissions will be
permanently treated as confidential.
As part of the submission process, authors of papers that describe
experiments on human subjects, or that analyze nonpublic data derived
from human subjects (even anonymized data), will be asked to certify
that their work was vetted by an ethics review (e.g., IRB approval). We
expect authors to follow the rules of their host institutions around
data collection and experiments with human subjects.
Selected outstanding papers may be fast-tracked as a special section of
IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing.
Best Paper Award
==================
All papers will be considered for the Best Paper Award. The program
committee will select a number of candidates for the award among
accepted papers, and select one or more award papers prior to the
conference.
Video Presentation
===================
The authors of each accepted paper will submit a short 1-minute video to
introduce the research presented in their paper to the general public.
These videos will be placed on the conference website before the
conference, and may be played during the conference. A selected set may
be featured by the social media channels related to the conference.
