CALL FOR PAPERS
The Third IEEE WoWMoM Workshop on
Smart Vehicles: Connectivity Technologies and ITS Applications
(SmartVehicles 2016)
June 21, 2016, Coimbra, Portugal
http://smartvehicles2016.uc.pt/
**** Paper Submission Deadline --- March 18, 2016 ****
----------------------------------------------------------------------
SCOPE AND OVERVIEW
--------------------------------
New wave of urbanization, ever more stringent emission standards, and
high pressure on improving efficiency of private and public transport
have made the development of more sustainable transportation systems one
of the fundamental societal challenges of the next decade. Connected
vehicles are seen as one of the key enabling technologies for more
efficient and sustainable transportation systems. To enable connected
vehicles, it is of paramount importance to: i) design vehicular
communication systems that enable road users and other actors to
exchange information in real time and with high reliability; ii) enable
pervasive sensing to monitor the status of vehicles and the
surroundings; iii) develop data analytics tools for processing large
amounts of data generated by the transportation infrastructure; iv)
develop middleware platforms for information management and sharing; and
v) define appropriate interaction interfaces between drivers and vehicles.
The seamless integration and convergence of vehicular communication
networks, information and transportation systems, and mobile devices and
networks will face a number of technical, economical and regulatory
challenges. To that end, SmartVehicles 2016 workshop will bring together
academics, researchers, and industry professionals from around the world
to discuss and exchange ideas on recent developments, current research
challenges and future directions in the use of networking,
communications, data management, and applications to realize vehicular
mobility systems that are more connected, efficient, and safe.
The topics of interest for SmartVehicles 2016 include, but are not
limited to:
+ V2V, V2I and V2X communications (e.g. vehicle-to-pedestrians,
vehicle-to-backend, vehicle-to-sign, etc.)
+ New V2X technologies: Vehicular visible light communications, LTE-V,
mmWave
+ The role of 5G in enabling existing and future V2X use cases
+ Connected autonomous vehicles: cooperative perception, cooperative
maneuvering, cooperative intersections and highways, platooning
+ Vehicular Network as a Sensor Network
+ Communications-enabled fleet management
+ Connected smart parking systems
+ Security and privacy in ITS applications
+ Data storage, management, and retrieval in vehicular networks
+ Solutions to connect vehicles with the Internet
+ Big data analytics for ITS applications
+ Integration of cloud technologies in ITS applications

The advent of massively interconnected objects, devices, and sensors —
commonly referred to as the Internet of Things — raises equally massive
challenges regarding the interfaces that will allow end-users to manage
the complexity of such systems and to exploit the opportunities such
technologies open up.
A promising approach, known as End-User Development, empowers end users
to define and tailor the functions of their systems in order to satisfy
their personal, local, and often task-specific needs. In the context of
the Internet of Things, and the diverse tools and methodologies now
available to support the design of interactive systems, the field of
End-User Development finds itself at a critical juncture of growth and
wide impact, as the need to support personal, context specific, and
emergent needs largely exceeds what is known from more conventional
interactive systems.
This special issue will publish compelling papers exploring metaphors,
interfaces, and development strategies for supporting users in
customization and personalization of the Internet of Things.
Contributions may take the form of studies, methodologies, or system
implementations that explore context-dependent or application-specific
behaviors of networked objects. Likewise, contributions that reflect on
or take issue with the appropriateness of End-User Development as a
strategy to face these challenges are welcome.

ACM e-Energy 2016: Call for Papers
http://conferences.sigcomm.org/eenergy/2016/
Computing and communication technologies impact energy systems in two distinct ways. The exponential growth of these technologies has made them large energy consumers. Therefore, new architectures, technologies and systems are being developed and deployed to make computing and networked system more energy efficient. Additionally, these technologies will play a central role in the on-going transformation of our energy systems. They help measure, monitor and control energy resources, inform and shape human demand, and determine how utilities, generators, regulators, and consumers interact.

*** -------------------- Call for Papers ----------------------***
* Scope and Topics
Over the last two decades, the recent and fast advances in inexpensive
sensor technology and wireless communications has made the design and
development of large-scale wireless sensor networks (WSNs)
cost-effective and appealing to a wide range of mission-critical
situations, including civilian, natural, industrial, and military
applications, such as health and environmental monitoring, seism
monitoring, industrial process automation, and battlefields
surveillance. Wireless sensor networking has attracted the attention of
practitioners and researchers from both industry and academia. This type
of networks consists of a collection of tiny, resource-limited,
low-reliable sensing devices that are randomly or deterministically
deployed in a field of interest to monitor a physical phenomenon and
report their results to a central gathering point, known as a sink.
These sensing devices suffer from their scarce capabilities, such as
bandwidth, storage, CPU, battery power (or energy), sensing, and
communication. In particular, mission-oriented WSNs are viewed as
time-varying systems composed of autonomous mobile sensing devices
(e.g., using mobile robots) that collaborate and coordinate
distributedly to successfully accomplish complex real-time missions
under uncertainty. The major challenge in the design of mission-oriented
WSNs is due to their dynamic topology and architecture, which is caused
mainly by sensing devices mobility. The latter may have significant
impact on the performance of mission-oriented WSNs in terms of their
sensing coverage and network connectivity. In such continuously dynamic
environments, sensing devices should self-organize and move purposefully
to accomplish any mission in their deployment field while extending the
operational network lifetime. In particular, the design of
mission-oriented WSNs should account for trade-offs between several
attributes, such energy consumption (due to mobility, sensing, and
communication), reliability, fault-tolerance, and delay.
IEEE MiSeNet 2016 will aim to provide a forum for participants from
academia and industry to discuss topics in mission-oriented WSNs
research and practice. IEEE MiSeNet 2016 will serve as incubator for
scientific communities that share a particular research agenda in the
area of mission-oriented WSNs. IEEE MiSeNet 2016 will provide its
participants with opportunities to understand the major technical and
application challenges of mission-oriented WSNs as well as exchange and
discuss scientific and engineering ideas related to their architecture,
protocol, algorithm, and application design, in particular at a stage
before they have matured to warrant conference/journal publications.
IEEE MiSeNet 2016 will seek papers that present novel theoretical and
practical ideas as well as work in-progress, which will lead to the
development of solid foundations for the design, analysis, and
implementation of energy-efficient, reliable, and secure
mission-oriented WSN applications.
The topics of interest to IEEE MiSeNet 2016 workshop include, but are
not limited to, the following:
* Theoretical foundations of mission-oriented WSNs
* Modeling and analysis of mission-oriented WSNs
* System design, implementation, and evaluation of mission-oriented WSNs

* Privacy and security aspects of mission-oriented WSNs
* Cloud computing and its applications to mission-oriented WSNs
* Testbed design and real-world applications of mission-oriented WSNs
* Submission
IEEE MiSeNet 2016 Workshop will consider only original papers that are
not currently under review by other workshops, conferences, or journals,
and have not been published. All papers submitted to IEEE MiSeNet 2016
will be peer-reviewed and evaluated based on their suitability (i.e.,
within the workshop scope), novelty, and merit. Submitted papers are
limited to 9 pages.
All submissions should be formatted in standard IEEE conference style
for publication in the conference Proceedings. They must be
single-spaced, double-column, with each column 9.25" by 3.33", 0.33"
space between columns, use at least a 10pt font, and be correctly

A primary aim of wireless ad-hoc networks is to deliver data in areas
where there is no pre-defined infrastructure. In these networks, the
users, but also the network entities can be potentially mobile. Wireless
ad-hoc networks have recently witnessed their fastest growth period ever
in history. Real wireless ad-hoc networks are now implemented, deployed

www.sigmobile.org/mobihoc/2016
05-08, July,2016
Paderborn, Germany
ACM MobiHoc is a premier conference with a highly selective single-track
technical program dedicated to addressing the challenges emerging from
dynamic networks and computing. Work that presents new performance
evaluation methods and algorithms and obtains fundamental insights into
computer and networked systems is encouraged.
The specific areas of interest include methodologies, formalisms,
algorithms and systems for:
- Dynamic networks broadly defined, such as communication, wireless,
social, energy and transportation networks
- Analytical modeling techniques and model validation
- Performance, scalability, power and reliability analysis
- Capacity planning, resource allocation, run time management and
scheduling
- Anomaly detection, system measurement, monitoring and forecasting
- Routing, scheduling, resource allocation, and energy efficiency

All papers submitted to the conference will be considered for a
Best Paper Award.
Paper Submission Guidelines
---------------------------
Papers should not exceed 10 pages (US letter size) double column including
figures, tables, and references in standard ACM format. Papers must be
submitted electronically in printable pdf form. Templates for the standard
ACM format can be found at this link. Both strict and alternate styles are
acceptable for submission. No changes to margins, spacing, or font sizes
are allowed from those specified by the style files. Papers violating the
formatting guidelines will be returned without review.
All submissions will be reviewed using a double-blind review process. The
identity of authors and referees will not be revealed to each other. To
ensure a blind review, the authors' names and affiliations should not appear
in the paper or the pdf file; bibliographic references should be made in a
way that preserves author anonymity; acknowledgments and support information
should not be included. In case there is a need to refer to a technical
report that includes, for example, proofs, an anonymous link should be
provided (for example, using Dropbox).
Accepted papers will appear in the conference proceedings published by the
ACM. Warning: It is ACM policy not to allow double submissions, where the
same paper is submitted to more than one conference/journal concurrently.
Any double submissions detected will be immediately rejected from all
conferences/journals involved.
