======================
Initiatives such as Autonomic Computing (AC) and Organic Computing (OC)
are based on the insight that we are increasingly surrounded by large
collections of autonomous systems, which are equipped with sensors and
actuators, aware of their environment, communicating freely, and
organising themselves in order to perform the required actions and
services. The presence of networks of intelligent systems in our
environment opens fascinating application areas but, at the same time,
bears the problem of their controllability.
Hence, different design concepts (such as the MAPE cycle and the
Observer/Controller framework) have been developed to allow for a
self-organised control process at runtime that relieves the designer
from specifying all possibly occurring situations and configurations
within the design process. Instead, the system itself takes over
responsibility to find proper reactions on perceived changes in the
environmental conditions. As designers are not able to foresee all
possibly occurring situations and circumstances the system will face
during its operation time, the self-organisation process of the system
has to focus on self-optimising the system’s behaviour. Such
self-optimising behaviour can be achieved at various levels of the
system’s design, ranging from basic control architectures over
self-organised coordination or collaboration methods and domain-specific
optimisation techniques to the application and customisation of machine
learning algorithms. Furthermore, several related topics (e.g. trust and
security in collaborative systems) provide necessary functionality to
enable self-optimising behaviour in AC and OC systems.
In this workshop, we will discuss current concepts that help to develop
self-optimising system behaviour. Thereby, a special focus will be set
on current trends – especially in terms of large-scale interconnected
systems. Submissions of papers are expected to refer to one of the
following categories:
1. Architectural concepts for self-optimising behaviour
2. Algorithms and methods for runtime optimising
3. Security and Privacy issues related to self-optimisation
4. Applications and application scenarios for self-optimisation techniques
5. Current activities about self-optimisation in the context of
Interwoven Systems

Betreff: [TCCC-ANNOUNCE] CFP - IEEE ICC 2016 - 1st Workshop on Resiliency in Public Safety Communication Systems (RPSCS)
*1st Workshop on Resiliency in Public Safety Communication Systems (RPSCS),
in Conjunction with IEEE ICC 2016*
*Scope*:
Many of today’s critical networked infrastructures, such as transportation
and power systems, rely heavily on communication technologies and systems.
The resiliency of such communication systems in face of natural disasters,
malicious attacks, or even day-to-day wear and tear has become of great
importance to maintain the continuous operation of such critical systems.
Resilience can have many definitions that range from the ability of a
communication system to operate under harsh environments or to withstand
malicious attacks, all the way to its adaptability to failures or other
unexpected events. In particular, resilience of public safety communication
networks during emergencies can become a matter of life or death, since
first responders and public safety personnel rely heavily on wired and
wireless communication capabilities to execute their search and rescue
operations. At the same time, critical infrastructure networks and other
civil protection network deployments need to be highly robust, and function
effectively in the presence of dynamically varying external and internal
conditions. The goal of this workshop is to bring together academic and
industrial researchers to identify and discuss technical challenges and
recent results related to resilient and robust communication networks, as
well as their applications in public safety and critical infrastructure
systems.
*Area/Topics of interest*:
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following:
· New definitions of resiliency as it applies to wired and wireless
communication systems.
· Public safety communication (PSC) systems relying on 4G LTE and 5G
wireless technologies.
· Public safety spectrum sharing, future spectrum requirements for
PSC networks.
· Resiliency studies for PSC networks and infrastructure against
natural disasters, and terrorist/cyber-attacks.
· Use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for enhancing PSC and
communication resiliency.
· Resilient cyber-physical systems and smart cities.
· Synergies between resilient control systems and resilient
communication networks.
· Advanced technologies such as device-to-device, multi-hop, and
relay-based communications for enhanced PSC.
· Propagation channel measurements and modeling for PSC.
· Interworking and interoperability between public safety networks
and commercial networks.
· Game-theoretic techniques, resource allocation, and power control
for resilient and public safety communications.
· Software defined radio (SDR) testbeds and experimentation on
resilient systems.
· Software-defined management and control mechanisms for improving
PSC communication resilience.
· The role of cyber-physical systems in resiliency.
· Resilient rapidly deployable communication networks.
*Workshop Co-Chairs*:
Walid Saad (Virginia Tech, USA)
Ismail Guvenc (Florida International University, USA)
Tinku Rasheed (Orion Innovations, Greece)
*Important Dates:*
- Paper submission deadline: December 4, 2015
- Acceptance notification: February 21, 2016
- Camera-ready papers: March 13, 2016

International Conference on Embedded Wireless Systems and Networks (EWSN)
15-17 February 2016, Graz, Austria
Call for Posters and Demos
The International Conference on Embedded Wireless Systems and Networks
(EWSN) is a highly selective single-track international conference
focusing on premier research results at the intersection of embedded
systems and wireless networking.
Along with full research papers, EWSN solicits submissions of poster
and demo abstracts whose contribution will be publicly presented
during the conference. The poster session at EWSN will provide a forum
for researchers to present their work in progress and to receive
feedback from experts attending the conference. In parallel to the
poster session, the demo session will offer a unique opportunity to
showcase real prototypes, tools, and systems to the conference
attendees.
The areas of interest for both poster and demo abstracts are the same
as for full research papers. Please refer to
www.iti.tugraz.at/EWSN2016 more details.
Submission:
Demo and poster abstracts must not exceed 2 pages. Titles should start
with "Poster: ..." or "Demo: ..." depending on the case. Pages must
have 8.5" x 11" (letter) two-column format, using 10-point type on
11-point leading, with a maximum text block of 7" wide x 9" deep with
an intercolumn spacing of .25". The page limits include figures,
tables, and references.
A LaTex template is available at www.iti.tugraz.at/EWSN2016 under
Calls -> Posters & Demos. At the same page, you find a link where
to perform the actual submission. As we particularly welcome
contributions from students, the submission system offers an option
to explicitly signal whether the main author is a student.
Both poster and demo abstracts may optionally complement the
submission with a video of at most 2 minutes that
further illustrates the work at hand. If the abstract is accepted, the
video will be made available directly from the conference website.
Poster and demo abstracts will be reviewed by at least three members
of the poster/demo committee to ensure quality and matching to the
goals of the poster/demo session as well as to the conference’s
topics. Accepted poster and demo abstracts will be included in
the conference proceedings that appear in the ACM Digital Library.
Presentation at the conference:
In addition to space given to every accepted abstract during the
poster/demo session, one author of the abstract will be given a slot
in a further "1-minute madness" session within the main program. In
this session, authors will have the opportunity to describe their work
to the entire conference audience with a single slide and a 1-minute
speech. Attendees will be given an online link where to cast a vote
for what they think was the best 1-minute poster or demo teaser. Best
poster and demo awards will be decided based on the outcome of the
vote.

Betreff: [ISCC] ACM HotMobile 2016: Call for Papers
Datum: Mon, 5 Oct 2015 15:24:12 +0000

CALL FOR PAPERS
The 17th Annual International Workshop on Mobile Computing Systems
and Applications (ACM HotMobile 2016)
Sponsored by ACM SIGMOBILE
23-24 February, 2016
St. Augustine, Florida, USA
ACM HotMobile 2017, the Seventeenth International Workshop on Mobile
Computing Systems and Applications continues the series of highly
selective, interactive workshops focused on mobile applications,
systems, and environments, as well as their underlying state-of-the-art
technologies. HotMobile's small workshop format makes it ideal for
presenting and discussing new directions or controversial approaches.
We solicit submissions of papers that (1) focus primarily on
applications and systems and (2) propose new directions of research,
advocate non-traditional approaches to old (or new) ideas, or generate
controversy and discussion. Polished mini-papers with in-depth
evaluations will be less competitive than unconventional, bold, or
creative ideas likely to lead to discussion. We particularly look for
position papers containing highly original ideas in the topic areas
listed below. However, papers describing other challenges unique to or
exacerbated by mobility are also welcome.
* Novel applications, environments, and devices supporting mobility
* Operating system and distributed system support for mobile computing
* Wearable computing, Internet of Things, sensing, and context-awareness
* HCI issues related to mobile computing security and privacy
* Management, configuration, and deployment of systems supporting mobility
Submissions describing new lower-level technologies are welcome if they
focus on how the technology is being used or integrated into a system or
application.
The deadline for submissions is Monday, October 12, 2015, 11:59pm EST.
Acceptance notifications will occur on or before Friday, December 11, 2015.
ACM HotMobile 2016 will be a highly interactive workshop. Submissions
will be judged based upon originality, technical merit, topical
relevance, and likelihood of leading to insightful discussion at the
workshop. Presenting at HotMobile is a good way to get early feedback
on research ideas at least one year away from a full-fledged conference
submission to ACM MobiSys or other high-quality conferences. A
full-length paper on the same topic submitted to a conference
simultaneously or shortly after publication at HotMobile is unlikely to
include sufficient new material and more mature ideas.
As is customary, papers must not have been published elsewhere and may
not be simultaneously under submission at another venue. Papers
accompanied by nondisclosure agreement forms will be returned without
review. As customary with the scientific peer review process,
submissions will be handled as confidential material during the review.
Submissions should be six (6) or fewer U.S. letter pages in PDF format,
including all references, figures and tables. Submissions should not be
anonymous. Papers should use the standard ACM template, available
at: http://www.acm.org/ For more submission guidelines, please visit
the conference website.
The papers accepted to HotMobile 2016 will be publicly available from
the workshop's website for a limited time window, as per ACM's Digital
Library's Policy.
If you have any questions, feel free to send an e-mail to the PC chair
