Call for Papers
ACM CoNEXT
December 10-13, 2012
Nice, France
http://conferences.sigcomm.org/co-next/2012
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The 8th ACM International Conference on emerging
Networking EXperiments and Technologies (ACM CoNEXT)
2012 will be held in Nice, France from Dec. 10-13, 2012.
The goal of the conference is to provide a selective and
interdisciplinary forum for research in Networking and
Communications. We seek to foster meaningful technical
interactions among members of our community, through an
excellent single-track program.
ACM CoNEXT 2012 welcomes submissions based on
implementation and experimentation, as well as simulation
and analytical approaches. We are committed to a fair,
timely, and thorough review process providing authors of
submitted papers with sound and detailed feedback. We
solicit papers on emerging networking experiments,
measurements, paradigms, and analysis with particular
emphasis on novel and creative work. Papers reporting on
the deployment and performance of services, or exploring
networks aimed at better supporting new services, are also
appreciated.
Relevant topics for the conference include, but are not limited
to the following:
* Internet measurement and modeling
* Wireless networks
* Mobile and cellular networks
* Mesh, ad hoc and sensor networks
* Economic aspects of the Internet
* Network security
* Datacenter networks
* Peer-to-peer, overlay and content distribution networks
* Online social networks
* Routing and traffic engineering
* Network management, including energy issues
* Interface between networking, communications and
information theory
* New networking protocols and architectures
* Applications of network science in communication networks
Submission Guidelines

Open Call for Papers - IEEE Computer Magazine
IEEE Computer magazine (www.computer.org/computer) is always looking for
high quality content, including articles in the computer communications and
networking areas. In particular, we solicit contributions that would impact
the design and implementation at host computers and applications. Articles
must be relevant to practice, stressing meaningful applications of
principles to important problems. Case studies should include enough detail
so that readers can relate them to their own situation and research articles
should be written at a level of abstraction that will be understandable to
Computer's broad readership. Topics of interest include, but are not limited
to, the following:
* Best current practices in communications and networking
* Case studies in communications and networking
* State-of-the-art research in communications and networking
* Advances in host-end communications and networking
* Advances in client, server, and peer-to-peer technologies
* Design, implementation, and benchmarking of real systems

CALL FOR PAPERS
5th International Workshop on Dependable Network Computing and Mobile
Systems (DNCMS 2012), to be held in conjunction with the 31st IEEE
International Symposium on Reliable Distributed Systems (SRDS 2012),
Irvine, California, USA, Oct. 8-11, 2012
Web site: http://www.scs.ryerson.ca/iwoungan/DNCMS2012/
1. Scope
Due to the strong growth in mobile devices, networked embedded systems,
wireless sensors, and the ever increasing information computing power
offered by computing clusters and information services over stationary
networks, the integration of network computing and mobile systems presents
new challenges, especially with respect to the dependability of integrated
applications: accepted measures of availability, costs, and quality of
service for high-bandwidth, high- quality stationary systems, have to be
re-thought, facing possibly new dependability paradigms for cheap,
resource restricted, unreliable mobile systems with low-bandwidth
communication facilities, being embedded and subject to the conditions in
the physical world. This workshop solicits papers addressing dependability
issues related to the design, analysis, and implementation, of
infrastructures, systems, architectures, algorithms and protocols that
deal with network computing and mobile and ubiquitous systems.
Topics include, but are not limited to:
• Wireless communication protocols and mobile networks
• Sensor networks
• Architectures and middleware for mobile device integration
• Location-based computing and data analysis
• Intelligent sensors in networked environments
• Cluster computing, ubiquitous computing, and grid-Computing for
mobile
applications
• Distributed data mining for mobile applications
• Ubiquitous Knowledge Discovery
• Applications such as cooperative mobile robots, embedded
applications
• Hardware security methods for mobile applications
• Security methods for network computing and mobile systems
• Intelligent mobile systems ?
2. Paper submission
DNCMS 2012 is using the EasyChair Conference Management System to manage
paper submissions process. In order to submit your paper, you must first
create a EasyChair account if you do not already have one, using:
https://www.easychair.org/login.cgi?conf=dncms2012
The EasyChair system will then e-mail you your password. Then you can
login to EasyChair using the password you have received by email.
EasyChair will provide you with a submissions homepage where you can

CALL FOR PAPERS
The First International Workshop on Algorithms and Concepts for
Networked Sensing Systems Powered by Energy Harvesters
EnHaNSS 2012
To be held in conjunction with INSS 2012
June 11th, 2012, Antwerp, Belgium
http://www.ti5.tu-harburg.de/events/enhanss2012
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
IMPORTANT DATES
--------------------------------------------
Submission deadline: April 2, 2012
Notification of acceptance: April 23, 2012
Camera-ready paper due: April 30, 2012
Workshop date: June 11, 2012
--------------------------------------------
To prolong the life time of battery-powered computing systems, low-power
components and protocols have been proposed. However, a battery-powered
system has a finite operation time. Power supplies using energy-
harvesting devices apparently open the door to unlimited and
uninterrupted operation. This requires a dedicated power management
that predicts available power budgets and aims at maximizing
performance metrics for a given budget. Power management encompasses
many facets, such as power leakage, radio duty cycle, sampling rates,
harvesting efficiency, energy intake prediction, etc.
WORKSHOP FORMAT AND TOPICS
The focus of this workshop is to provide a platform for discussing
intermediate research results and for vivid exchange of ideas. It is
also intended to identify required steps and promising future research
directions within scope in order to push the penetration power of
energy-harvesting sensor networks one step forward. For that purpose, we
particularly enencourage preliminary contributions by Ph.D. students in
addition to completed work. In addition to paper presentations, there
will be a poster and demo session.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Power management concepts for energy harvesting systems
- Power-aware scheduling, algorithms, and operating systems
- Network-wide and distributed energy management
- Energy-aware network planning (e.g., routing, duty-cycle adaptation)
- Scaling laws and fundamental limits
- Energy and performance profiling
- Online accounting of energy consumption
- Energy-harvesting prototypes
- Energy storage and buffers
- Models of energy harvesters
- Methods for energy intake prediction
- Real-world deployments and field tests
Submitted papers will be peer-reviewed in a blind review process. Papers
will be selected according to their relation to the workshop scope,
novelty, and quality of presentation. Diversity of workshop topics will
also be considered. Accepted and presented papers will be published in
IEEE Xplore. Extensions of selected papers will be published in a special
issue of "Ad Hoc & Sensor Wireless Networks".
