Call for Papers
ADHOC-NOW 2012
The 11th International Conference on Ad Hoc Networks and Wireless
Belgrade, Serbia, July 9-11, 2012
http://www.adhocnow.com/
Since its creation in 2002, the International Conference on Ad Hoc
Networks and Wireless (ADHOC-NOW) has become a well-established and
well known event dedicated to wireless and mobile computing. In the
ERA Conference Ranking Exercise, ADHOC-NOW is considered as a B
conference (same ranking as IEEE conferences ICC, Globecom, MASS,
DCOSS, etc.) ADHOC-NOW serves as a forum for interesting discussions
on ongoing research and new contributions. The conference addresses
both experimental and theoretical research in the areas of ad hoc
networks, sensor networks, mesh networks and vehicular networks. It
focuses on all issues from link layer up to the application layer.
The eleventh edition of this series will take place in Belgrade, Serbia,
from the 9th to the 11th of July, 2012.
We seek original contributions as work in progress, experimental and
theoretical research in Wireless Sensor, Ad-Hoc, Mobile and Wireless
Networks. Submissions must not be published or under review for another
conference or journal. We are interested, but not limited to, research
papers in any of the following areas:
* Access Control
* Algorithmic Issues
* Analytic Methods and Modeling for Performance Evaluation
* Applications and Architectures
* Autonomous Intelligent Systems
* Computing Platforms, Systems and Testbeds
* Data Communication Protocols
* Delay-Tolerant Networking
* Distributed Algorithms
* Energy Efficiency
* Geometric Graphs
* Location Discovery and Management
* Mobility Handling and Utilization
* Mobile Ad Hoc Computing Platforms
* Mobile Social Networking
* Quality-of-Service
* Robot Networks
* Secure Services and Protocols
* Self-Configuration
* Sensor Networks
* Service Discovery
* Timing Synchronization
* Vehicular Networks
* Wireless Mesh Networks
* Wireless Internet

CALL FOR PAPERS
IWSN 2012
The Third International Workshop on
Interconnections of Wireless Sensor Networks
In conjunction with IEEE/ACM DCOSS 2012, 18 May
2012, Hangzhou, China
http://iwsn2012.gforge.uni.lu/index.html
Subject of the Workshop:
We lately witness a tremendous development in the wireless
sensor networking (WSN), which makes it possible to monitor,
unobtrusively and
for long periods of time, the physical environment. Ensuring high
connectivity
within the network is vital for real applications. Moreover, for many
applications, sensor networks cannot operate in complete isolation.
There must
be a way enabling a monitoring entity or some end-users to gain access
to the
data produced by the sensor network, and even to interact with a particular
sensor mote to activate/deactivate it, read the sensed values
instantaneously,
fix some inner parameters, make dynamic code loading into the mote, etc. By
connecting the sensor network to an existing network infrastructure such
as a
local-area network, a private intranet, mobile network infrastructures,
unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and notably the global internet, gaining
remote access to the sensor network would be straightforward.
The integration of RFID and WSN is one of the most promising
technologies that will play an important role in the emergence of
Internet of
the Things (IoT). For example, in a healthcare application, RFID tags can be
used to track the elders, whereas the sensors are used to monitor the
elders’
conditions. However, many questions need answers, and many challenges
must be
tackled before such interconnection becomes effective. Suitability of IP
standards must be investigated, as well as the connection architecture. By
openly connect a sensor network to other networks, doors will be opened
to new
vulnerabilities. An intruder would not need to gain physical access to the
network anymore, but he might remotely launch attacks. Security is thus
a very
important aspect that must be considered. Routing, QoS, and interoperability
are also important and challenging issues in the new heterogeneous
systems.
Connecting different WSNs/part of a WSN is another issue
that needs to be considered. A WSN might get partitioned into distinct
segments
due to battery exhaustion of sensors. Providing mechanisms to restore
connectivity by connecting those segments is of high importance, where an
isolated segment of sensor nodes that cannot reach its sink can exploit the
existence of a neighboring reachable WSN to deliver its sensed information.
This
workshop is a forum for researchers, academics, and industrials to
debate the
different issues related to the interconnection of wireless sensor networks,
and discuss relevant theoretical and practical solutions.
Topics:
Topics of the workshop consist of all aspects related to
WSN, with more focus on the interconnection and integration of WSN to other
networks, as well as connectivity issues in WSNs. They include but are
not limited to:
· Interconnection architecture aspects
· Connectivity, deployment, and relocation issues
in WSNs
· Interconnection/Integration of WSN and RFID
· M2M communications
· IPv6/6LoWPAN in WSN

Call for Papers
The 5th International Workshop on
Wireless Sensor, Actuator and Robot Networks (WiSARN 2012-Spring)
http://www.site.uottawa.ca/~xuli/WiSARN2012Spring/
To be held in conjunction with
The 8th IEEE International Conference on
Distributed Computing in Sensor Systems (DCOSS'12)
May 16-18, Hangzhou, China.
Wireless sensor and actor networks (WSANs) are the confluence point
where the traditional fields of wireless sensor networks (WSNs),
robot networks and control theory meet. In WSAN, nodes collaborate
to accomplish distributed sensing and actuation tasks. Leveraged by
the control and mobility of actors, the networking process and
applications embrace a whole new set of possibilities. Actors may
deploy, repair and relocate sensors to improve coverage, build routes
and fix network partition to ensure data communication, change network
topology to shape routing patterns and balance energy consumption,
and respond to reported events in a timely and effective manner.
The benefits are limited only by imagination. As an emerging field,
WSANs are in need of new networking techniques, by which they can fully
exploit their particularities and potentials. WiSARN aims to bring
together state-of-the-art contributions on the design, specification
and implementation of architectures, algorithms and protocols for
current and future applications of WSAN. Original, unpublished
contributions are solicited in ALL aspects of WSANs, WSNs, robot
networks, and robotics and automation. Possible topics include,

CALL FOR PAPERS
** 1st ACM International Workshop on Sensor-Enhanced Safety **
** and Security in Public Spaces (SESP 2012) **
URL: http://sesp.realmv6.org
Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, USA, June 11, 2012,
held in conjunction with ACM MobiHoc 2012
Public spaces, such as airports, railway stations, or stadiums bring
together large numbers of people on limited space to use a
security-sensitive infrastructure. Electronic security systems may
help to provide better and faster security and safety for the general
public. Application scenarios may include intrusion detection and
monitoring of large crowds in order to provide guidance in case of
unexpected events (e.g., a mass panic). However, current security
systems used within the public infrastructure are typically expensive,
not trivial to deploy, difficult to operate and maintain, prone to
malfunction due to individual component failures, and generally lack
citizen privacy-friendliness. The advent of novel, large-scale
distributed security systems based on wireless, lightweight sensors
may enhance security and safety in public spaces.
SESP 2012 is an international forum for researchers, developers, and
practitioners to demonstrate new ideas, techniques, and tools that
enable the design of inexpensive, flexible, resilient, and
privacy-friendly security systems for enhanced security and safety in
public spaces. The workshop welcomes academia, government, industry,
and contributing individuals to submit unpublished papers in
theoretical and practical aspects of computer, networking and
communications security. SESP will provide participants with fresh
ideas, inspiring challenges, and novel approaches in the context of
wireless sensor-based safety and security in public spaces. Solutions
have not been fully analyzed in favor of identifying novel corners in
the solution space.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
Supporting Networks

CFP: PWSN 2012 4th International Workshop on Performance Control in Wireless Sensor Networks
by Lars Wolf 13 Feb '12
by Lars Wolf 13 Feb '12
13 Feb '12
=========================================================================
CALL FOR PAPERS
PWSN 2012
4th International Workshop on Performance Control in Wireless Sensor
Networks
http://www.netrl.cs.ucy.ac.cy/pwsn2012/
May 18 2012, Hangzhou, China
In conjunction with the 8th IEEE International Conference on Distributed
Computing in Sensor Systems (DCOSS '12)
=========================================================================
Wireless sensor networks are currently the subject of intense research
and many prototype installations are currently investigated. However,
most of the existing sensor network installations have in common that
they are not considered time critical. No immediate action has to be
undertaken as a response to the received data. In contrast, many
envisioned future application areas of wireless sensor networks (such as
plant automation and control, traffic management, medical applications,
emergency solutions) require immediate and guaranteed actions. In such
environments, data has to be transported reliably and in time through
the sensor network towards the end user. To make the networking task
more complex, in many applications the end user or the controlling
intelligence is located remotely (e.g., remote monitoring, supervision
and surveillance applications), and the wireless sensor network
interworks with other networks (e.g., fixed infrastructure cellular,
Internet). Due to the lack of appropriate models, components and
protocols, it is currently very difficult to construct and operate a
wireless sensor network with performance guarantees. Thus, the
commercial success of wireless sensor networks in many application areas
is unsure unless this particular problem is understood and solved.
The PWSN workshop will bring together researchers and practitioners
working on performance issues within wireless sensor networks. The
workshop intends to examine research challenges associated with
achieving dependability in WSNs, share experiences from real-life
deployment of dependable sensor networks, discuss application-dependent
wireless sensor-actuator design methodologies, illustrate dependable
MAC, network and transport protocols, and in general, explore issues of
reliability in WSNs.
Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
--------------------------------------------------
* Architectures: real-time systems, critical network architectures
* Applications: Critical applications, application requirements, novel
applications and real-world deployments
* Models: Traffic models, channel models, mathematical models of network
performance
* MAC protocols: MAC protocols with deterministic behavior, MAC
protocols to balance forwarding performance and energy consumption.
* Routing and topology control: Methods to control network topology,
services for time, location, and power management, topology robustness,
reliability and fault tolerance
* Data transport: Control of data transport delay and reliability,
methods to improve data forwarding performance in sensor networks, data
storage, retrieval, and processing.
* Operating systems: Performance optimization and control of sensor
network operating systems.
* Middleware: Middleware/frameworks providing performance guarantees for
sensor network applications.

PURBA 2012 - CALL FOR PAPERS
The Second Workshop on Pervasive Urban Applications (PURBA)
In conjunction with Pervasive 2012
Newcastle, UK | June 18-22, 2012
http://www.ibm.com/ie/dublinresearchlab/purba
Submission Deadline: March 2, 2012
------------------------------------------------------------
Over the past decade, the development of digital networks and
operations has produced an unprecedented wealth of information.
Handheld electronics, location devices, telecommunications networks,
and a wide assortment of tags and sensors are constantly producing a
rich stream of data reflecting various aspects of urban life. For
urban planners and designers, these accumulations of digital traces
are valuable sources of data in capturing the pulse of the city in an
astonishing degree of temporal and spatial detail. Yet this condition
of the hybrid city – which operates simultaneously in the digital and
physical realms – also poses difficult questions about privacy, scale,
and design, among many others. These questions must be addressed as we
move toward achieving an augmented, fine-grained understanding of how
the city functions – socially, economically and yes, even
psychologically. This workshop is the second in this series building
upon the successful PURBA 2011 workshop. It aims to bring together
researchers and practitioners to discuss and explore the research
challenges and opportunities in applying the pervasive computing
paradigm to urban spaces. We are seeking multi-disciplinary
contributions that reveal interesting aspects about urban life and
exploit the digital traces to create novel urban applications that
benefit citizens, urban planners, and policy makers. The PURBA-2012
Workshop fosters discussions covering topics such as (but not limited
to):
• Pervasive computing applications for urban planning and design
• Mining of data collected from urban networks e.g. transportation, energy
• Urban mobility and geo-localization
• Multi-source urban information integration
• Real-time urban information processing
• City-related knowledge infrastructure and computational models
• Case studies and applications of mixed urban sensing and mining
• Analysis of social networks in urban space
• Middleware for mobile urban computing
• Context-aware systems for urban space
• Smart cities
• Intelligent transportation system
• Urban application demos and visualizations
• Wireless sensor networks, mobile devices, and social network sensing
• Security, privacy, reputation, and trust issues in urban computing
• Impact of pervasive technologies in urban space e.g. social,
economical, and psychological.
Submissions
------------------------------------------------------------
All contributions must be submitted as PDF files. The workshop accepts
manuscripts in LNCS format (up to 8 pages). Visionary and position
papers are encouraged. All contributions must not have been previously
published or be under consideration for publication elsewhere. All
submitted papers will be reviewed and judged on originality, technical
correctness, relevance, and quality of presentation by the Program
Committee. All accepted submissions must be presented during the
workshop.
