Overview
---------
Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) of interest to this workshop consist of
large-scale interconnected systems of heterogeneous components interacting
with their physical environments. There exist a multitude of CPS devices
and applications deployed to serve critical functions in our lives thus
making security an important non-functional attribute of such systems. This
workshop will provide a platform for professionals from academia,
government, and industry to discuss novel ways to address the ever-present
security challenges facing CPS. We seek submissions describing theoretical
and practical solutions to security challenges in CPS. Submissions
pertinent to the security of embedded systems, IoT, SCADA, smart grid, and
other critical infrastructure are welcome. Topics of interest include, but
are not limited to:
* Attack detection for CPS
* Authentication and access control for CPS
* Availability of and auditing for CPS
* Blockchain for CPS security
* Data security and privacy for CPS
* Digital twins for CPS
* Embedded systems security
* Formal methods in CPS
* Industrial control systems security
* IoT security
* Lightweight crypto
* Recovery of CPS from cyber attacks
* Security risk assessment for CPS
* Security architectures for CPS
* Security by design for CPS
* Security of autonomous vehicles and vessels
* Security of legacy CPS
* Smart grid security
* Threat modeling for CPS
* Security of transportation systems
* Vulnerability analysis for CPS
Important Dates

Paper Submission Guidelines
----------------------------
Submitted papers must not substantially overlap papers that have been
published or that are simultaneously submitted to a journal or a conference
with proceedings. All submissions should be appropriately anonymized.
Submissions must be in double-column ACM SIG Proceedings format, and should

ECRTS'19: July 07-10, 2020
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SCOPE AND TOPICS OF INTEREST
OSPERT is open to all topics related to providing a reliable and
efficient operating environment for real-time and embedded applications.
Developers of embedded RTOSs are faced with many challenges arising from
two opposite needs: on the one hand there is a need for extreme resource
usage optimization (processor cycles, energy, network bandwidth, etc.),
and on the other hand there are also increasing demands in terms of
scalability, flexibility, isolation, adaptivity, reconfigurability,
predictability, serviceability, and certifiability, to name a few.
Further, while special-purpose RTOSs continue to be used for many
embedded applications, real-time services are also increasingly
introduced and used in general-purpose operating systems, and market
pressures continue to blur the lines between the two formerly distinct
classes of operating systems. Notable examples are the various flavors
of real-time Linux that support time-sensitive applications, the
emergence of commercial and open-source real-time hypervisors, as well
as the growth in features and scope of embedded OS and middleware
specifications such as AUTOSAR.
OSPERT is dedicated to the advances in RTOS technology required to
address these trends. As such, areas of interest include, but are not
limited to, the following topics:
- Case studies and experience reports
- Consolidation of real-time and best-effort work on embedded platforms
- Certification and verification of RTOSs and middleware
- Coordinated management of multiple resources
- Dynamic reconfiguration and upgrading
- Empirical comparisons and evaluations of RTOSs
- Flexible processor, memory, and I/O scheduling
- Interaction with reconfigurable hardware
- Operating system standards (e.g., AUTOSAR, ARINC, POSIX, etc.)
- Power and energy management
- Quality of Service guarantees
- Real-time Linux variants
- Real-time virtualization and hypervisors
- RTOSs for manycore platforms
- Scalability, from very small scale embedded systems to full-fledged RTOSs
- Security and fault tolerance for embedded real-time systems
- Support for multiprocessor architectures
- Support for component-based development
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CALL FOR PAPERS - Special Issue "*Cooperative Perception for Intelligent
Vehicles*" - Sensors (Impact Factor: 3.031)
Deadline for manuscript submissions: 15 May 2020.
https://www.mdpi.com/journal/sensors/special_issues/Intelli_Vechicles
Automated vehicles are expected to have a significant impact in the
transport sector in the next decades, improving road safety and traffic
efficiency, as well as reducing energy consumption and improving user
comfort. Automated vehicles make use of a set of onboard sensors installed
in the vehicle (e.g. camera, radar and lidar) that are responsible for
perceiving the surrounding environment, and a set of actuators that control
its longitudinal and lateral movements. One of the development objectives
is to automatically perform driving tasks with less or even without driver
intervention. Several studies have already shown that the sensors used in
the perception process have limitations that might degrade the performance
of automated vehicles. For example, in adverse weather conditions (such as
rain, snow and fog), the cameras will not be able to adequately capture the
environment, and in situations where the sensor’s field of vision is
blocked (by other vehicles or buildings) none of the current sensors can
detect beyond the position of the obstacle. To overcome these limitations
and improve the perception capabilities of the vehicles, cooperative
perception enables the wireless exchange of sensor information between
vehicles and between vehicles and infrastructure nodes. Cooperative
perception, also known as cooperative sensing or collective perception,
enables vehicles and infrastructure nodes to detect objects (e.g.
non-connected vehicles, pedestrians, obstacles) beyond their local sensing
capabilities. Cooperative perception can be key for extended and timely
detection of the surrounding environment and can also enable cooperative
applications by compensating low penetration rates of connected road users,
thus facilitating the future deployment of automated vehicles.
The purpose of this Special Issue is to present and discuss major research
challenges, latest developments, and recent advances on cooperative
perception. This Special Issue solicits the submission of high-quality
papers from academia and industry that aim to solve open technical problems
or challenges in the context of cooperative perception. Original and
innovative contributions on all aspects, both theoretical and experimental,
are all welcome.
Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as
accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website.
Potential topics include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Application development and validation based on cooperative perception
- V2X communication algorithms and protocols for cooperative perception
- Communication technologies for cooperative perception
- Radio resource allocation for cooperative perception
- Congestion control for cooperative perception
- Infrastructure-assisted solutions for cooperative perception
- Security analysis and algorithms for cooperative perception

In the last few years, Unmanned Autonomous Vehicles (UAVs), have developed
rapidly and have been used for emergent applications that range from
inspection, surveillance, agriculture, cargo delivery, and communications.
The symbiosis between UAVs and Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) started
quite naturally: UAVs perform remote sensing, act as data muler that carry
the data collected by the WSN. Evolving WSN in Internet of Things (IoT)
devices, single or multiple Drones/UAVs can cooperatively provide services
that require efficient protocols where multiple objectives and constraints
should be accounted.
For this workshop, we search for papers that combine design of algorithms,
optimization, and test-bed to develop the theoretical foundations for the
UAV systems operating in symbiosis with WSN in IoT applications. The
numerous emergent applications nurtured by IoT may require an
interdisciplinary approach, involving techniques from algorithm foundations
and different areas, such as robotics, artificial intelligence,
mathematical modelling, machine learning. Possible topics are:
Autonomous WSN via Drones
Topology monitoring of WSN with Drones
Build Remote Sensing Networks via Drones
Communication architectures and protocols of Drones over IoT
Modelling and analysis of Drone systems over IoT
Precision Agricolture
Monitoring crops
Controling bugs in Agricolture
Drones for environment monitoring
Autopilot and UAS autonomy
UAV mission planning, path planning, and scheduling
Parcel delivery using Drones
4G-5G networks and UAVs
Constraints and multiobjective optimization problems in UAVs
Ground Localization with Drones
Cooperative control of multiple UAVs
UAV secure communication techniques
Optimal UAV deployment strategies
Experimental results, simulators and test beds for drone networks
Single UAV Applications
Multi-UAV Applications
Human Rights and Drones

Scope:
Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are fundamental building blocks
and key technologies for the booming Internet of Things (IoT) based apps
that are having tremendous effects on citizens of smart city. The Internet
of Things-enabled WSNs are usually characterized by the ability of remotely
and precisely locating specific sensing elements, interrogating them and
controlling the way it suits the application. This enables innovative
deployment models of IoT applications, however, energy efficiency still a
big issue in this environment. For WSNs, energy and powering have long been
the main challenges that hampers autonomous and perpetual operation of such
systems. As such power efficiency algorithms, systems, intelligence and
platforms have been and are constantly being investigated and solution
pursued and proposed constantly.
Of particular interest, in this domain, are energy-harvesting
wireless sensor networks (EH-WSNs), whether fully autonomous or backed by
batteries. The EHWSNs which are fully powered by environmentally harvested
energy constitute the most appealing solutions that strive to meet the
target of enabling large scale deployment of WSNs in “set and forget”
scenarios. With these desirable features, which are becoming reality from
the industrial side, are emerging challenges to the networking community in
proposing networking software, platforms and protocols which are fully
context-aware and more importantly, power-aware to ensure synchronized and
timely scheduling of the data transmission rounds/cycles in an
opportunistic manner.
This workshop is inviting contributions that fall into this context,
whether these are networking platforms, systems or protocols that are
energy-efficient, context-aware and supportive of EH-WSNs or AI/ML assisted
methods for enhancing power efficiency in IoT Systems. The scope of this
workshop includes (but not limited to) the following topics:
* Deep reinforcement learning-driven energy-efficient networks and services
in IoT.
* Deep reinforcement learning-driven energy-efficient networks for smart
cities.
* Energy harvesting and power management in wireless networks using deep
reinforcement learning.
* Energy harvesting MAC protocols
* Remotely powered wireless systems solutions
* Power efficiency for wireless, mobile and networks
* Green data communication network architecture
* Power-aware communication protocols and algorithms
* Context-aware communication protocols and algorithms
* Adaptive, dynamic duty cycle management in energy-harvested WSNs
* Cross-layer design techniques for energy-harvested WSNs
* Green MAC protocols and channel assignment
* Cross layer optimization for maximum energy efficiency
* Power-aware, context-aware routing protocols
* Measurements and models for energy consumption of wireless networks
* Security aspects applicable to WSNs, EH-WSNs and IoTs.
