processing. While Fog Computing provides a wide range of possible
application areas, many important fundamental research questions have
not been covered in depth yet. Therefore, it is the goal of the
KuVS-Fachgespräch Fog Computing to identify research issues arising by
the volatility of IoT-based smart systems, and the potentially very
quickly changing system landscapes, and to identify how concrete
research contributions in the field of Fog Computing can help to
overcome these issues.
To achieve this, researchers from different subfields of computer
science and related areas are invited to present their thoughts and
ideas in the field of Fog Computing, including, but not limited to
research in the fields of:
* Networking aspects to enable Fog Computing

Betreff: [TCCC-ANNOUNCE] Call for Papers: 2020 WCNC 3rd Workshop on Intelligent Computing and Caching at the Network Edge
Apologies for cross-posting this invite:
Dear colleagues:
Call for Papers: 2020 WCNC 3rd Workshop on Intelligent Computing and Caching at the Network Edge, 6-9 April 2020, Seoul, South Korea, http://users.jyu.fi/~zhchang/edge2020
With the explosive growth of smart devices and the advent of many new applications, mobile traffic volume has been growing exponentially. The myriad technological advances proposed for the 5G networks still mostly focus on capacity increase, which is constrained by the limited spectrum resources as well as the diminishing profits for operators and, therefore, will always lag behind the growth rate of mobile traffic. Therefore, novel distributed architectures, which bring network functions (such as computing and caching) and contents to the edge, emerges, i.e., mobile edge computing and caching, to confront the aforementioned challenges in the network development and many emerging applications, such as AR/VR, IoT, eHealth, autonomous driving , gaming etc. However, on the way towards efficient and intelligent network edge computing and caching, there are many open problems ahead. From the computing part, how to flexibly utilize the distributed computing resources at the network edge, such as mobile computing or fog computing is of significance. Moreover, what to be offloaded to the edge node and when to offload also call for research attentions. From the caching part, what, when, where and how to cache the contents to reduce the demand for radio resources are vital. Last but not the most, how to efficiently integrate computing and caching at the edge node and utilize the synergy of computing and caching also requires a breakthrough. This workshop aims to consolidate the timely and solid works of the current state-of-the art in terms of fundamental research ideas and network engineering geared towards exploiting intelligent caching and computing at the network edge. The topics of interests related to edge caching and computing include (but are not limited to):
System modelling: Computation modelling, caching modelling, energy consumption modelling etc.;
Enabling technologies: e.g., SDN, NFV, CRAN, D2D, cloud/fog computing and networking, etc.;
Application areas: vehicular networking, IoT, smart grid etc;
Novel network architecture: convergence of computing, communications and caching, content/information-centric network, cognitive computing and networking, big data analytic;
Context-aware schemes: incentive mechanism for computing and caching, pricing, game theoretic approach, network economic etc, caching placement and delivery;
Mobility management for mobile edge computing and proactive caching;
Energy efficiency aspects: energy harvesting, energy storage, energy transfer, etc;
Security and privacy issue;
Prototyping, test-beds and field trials.

The 3rd Age of Information Workshop in conjunction with IEEE INFOCOM 2020,
Beijing, China, April 27, 2020
https://infocom2020.ieee-infocom.org/age-information-workshop
The Age of Information (AoI) is a new concept that serves as a performance
metric for characterizing the freshness of information, which has been shown
effective and powerful in numerous applications, in particular in
cyber-physical systems and/or Internet-of-Things. Recent research advances
on AoI have shown that many well-known design principles (e.g., for
providing high throughput and low latency) that lead to the success of
traditional data networks may need to be re-examined for enhancing
information freshness in emerging real-time applications.
Following the big success of the first two workshops, the 3rd Age of
Information Workshop (AoI Workshop) will be held in Beijing on April 27,
2020, in conjunction with IEEE INFOCOM 2020. Topics of interest include, but
are not limited to:
- Age of Information Analysis and Optimization

Call for Papers - DL extended to November 13, 2019 - 1 week left!
AWAKE - 1st Workshop on Wake-Up radio technologies for next generation
wireless communications
in conjunction with EWSN 2020, Lyon France, February 17, 2020
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Lowering energy consumption is one of the most pursued goals of next
generation wireless communication to ensure long-term applications. In
recent years, wake-up radio has emerged, enabling pure asynchronous
wireless communication that eliminates energy waste due to idle
listening. These devices allow continuous channel monitoring while
consuming orders of magnitude less power than traditional
transceivers. On the one hand, many efforts are made to design wake-up
radio circuit with low power consumption and low sensitivity. On the
other hand, this technology changes network paradigm as dedicated
access and network protocols should be designed.
The goal of this workshop is to bring together researchers both from
academia and industry to exchange and share their experiences and
research results related to wake-up radio emerging technology.
Specific topics of interest include but are not limited to:
- Wake-Up radio circuit and architecture design
- Coding, modulation and signal processing for Wake-Up radio
- Heterogeneous communication (or Multi-transceiver) and protocols
- MAC protocol leveraging Wake-up radio
- Cross-layer design for Wake-Up radio
- Communication and networking for wireless systems using Wake-Up
radio
- Testbeds and experimentations using wake-up radio
- Use-case and applications leveraging Wake-up radio
- Wake-up radio in standardization (IEEE 802.11ba, 4G, 5G, ...)
Important dates:
- Paper submission: extended to November 13, 2019
