** News About the Program of MobiSys 2018
We will have exciting 37 full papers and some 40 posters/demo, 6
workshops, and
1 PhD forum. Two keynotes by Martin Hauschild (BMW) and Tommaso Melodia
(Northeastern University) and a panel complement the program.
The 1st ACM Open IoT Day will be on June 11 with a keynote by Vint Cerf,
Satya's test-of-time award talk, and visionary talks from industry,
including BMW, Ericsson, IBM, and Intel, among others.
On 10/11 June, the conference will feature the IoT Hackathon (application

Our social events will focus on different regional features: the
reception being held in the BMW Museum and the banquet next to the
oldest operating brewery, featuring the premiere of MobiSys Pale Ale,
produced by TUM's own research brewery in Weihenstephan.

+----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+
The 1st ACM International Workshop on
Future Industrial Communication Networks (FICN 2018)
in conjunction with ACM MobiCom, 2018
New Delhi, India
https://sigmobile.org/mobicom/2018/workshops/ficn/
+----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+
-----
Scope
-----
A robust, reliable, and intelligent communication network integrating both
wired
and wireless technologies forms the backbone of the 4th industrial
revolution.
Such systems, however, face a variety of challenges that range from
realizing
very large-scale networks to critical systems that require reliable and
minimal
latency in communication. Industrial networks are often required to support
very
low-data rate and low-power devices that are spread over tens of
kilometers. On
the other hand, many next generation networks will require to handle very
high
capacity traffic for applications that support virtual and augmented
reality-based solutions. Moreover, due to mobility of workers (both humans
and
robots), mobile network communication (with or without infrastructure) also
becomes critically important.
The ACM Future Industrial Communication Networks (FICN) workshop aims to
address
some of the challenges related to industrial communication networks.
Importance
will be given to solving real-life problems and cost-effective green
solutions
that can benefit emerging economies, startups, and small and medium
enterprises.
At ACM FICN, industry and academia shall come together to discuss
challenges and
cutting-edge research ideas, as well as establish a forward-looking
collaborative relationship.
ACM FICN seeks original, novel, and previously unpublished (and
currently not under consideration anywhere else) papers that address the
challenges faced by modern industrial networks. Submitted papers will be
peer-reviewed by eminent members of the Technical Program Committee
where technical merit, novelty, timeliness, and relevance to the workshop
shall be considered.
Topics of interest to the FICN workshop include, but are not limited to:
* Autonomous and intelligent intent-based networks
* Critical communication network and systems
* Industry 4.0 communication systems and related standards
* Green communication and battery-saving systems
* Large-scale sensor networks and industrial IoT (IIoT) applications
* 5G and industrial requirements
* Reliable and time sensitive networks
* Industrial applications of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) networks
* Heterogeneous networks involving modern and legacy (non IP-based)
equipment
* Bid and design phases of communication networks (optimization & coverage)
* Low-power wide area machine-to-machine networks
* Software-defined networking (SDN) for industry
* Condition monitoring, analytics, and prognosis for industrial systems
* Cybersecurity: dissemination, identification, and defense against
industrial malware/botnets
* Test-beds and real-life measurements for highly scalable industrial
applications

Important Dates
---------------
Paper submission: June 10, 2018
Notification of acceptance: July 20, 2018
Camera-ready: August 10, 2018
Workshop date: October 29 or November 02, 2018 (to be confirmed soon)
---------------------
Submission Guidelines
---------------------
Submitted papers must not exceed six (6) double-column pages (including the
title, list of author(s), figures, tables, references, and appendices, if
any)
and must adhere to the general ACM MobiCom conference submission
guidelines. The
review process will be single-blinded, which means submitted papers must
contain
name(s) and affiliation(s) of all the authors. All submissions must be in
PDF
format; no other formats will be reviewed. ACM provides LaTeX and MS Word
templates to help you draft the paper. However, you are solely responsible
to
verify that all guidelines have been followed.
At least one author of each accepted paper need to register and present the
paper at the workshop. All presented papers will be published in the
proceedings
of ACM MobiCom 2018 and will be available in the ACM Digital Library.

Submission Deadline August 1, 2018
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cyber-physical systems (CPSs) can provide both improved and new
functionality with efficiency and convenience; but the increasing use of
CPSs and their application to key infrastructure components means that
failures can result in disruption, damage and even loss of life. Avoiding
these consequences is not a trivial problem, because a CPS which can
readily communicate with users, remote computers, as well as other CPSs, is
naturally vulnerable to network failures and malicious interference.
Reports of such attacks, and public concern about them, have increased in
recent years.
It is essential to develop CPSs which are reliable (or trustworthy),
because their functionality and timing are provably correct; and which are
resilient, because they are designed to cope with both internal errors and
external attacks. A resilient CPS will continue to operate normally as long
as possible, and then provide functionality that reduces gracefully and
safely if problems increase and cannot be overcome. The design of reliable
and resilient CPSs (RRCPS) directly involves topics such as real-time
control, sensor design, and security; and the use of machine learning and
data mining to provide more sophisticated and versatile behavior. In
particular, special attention needs to be paid to the application of
Internet of Things (IoT) in building RRCPS, because the IoT is essential to
realize a vision of the future CPSs where numerous devices are tightly
connected over the Internet, allowing them to collect information about the
real world in real time, and share it with other systems and physical
devices. In fact, CPS can be considered as real-time IoT, which requires
end-to-end real-time performance on top of conventional characteristics of
IoT.
This special issue will cover both theory and practice, with a focus that
ranges from the platforms on which RRCPS can be built to applications of
RRCPS.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
*Theoretical foundations for RRCPS
- Design theories for RRCPS and the IoT
- Modeling and verification of RRCPS and the IoT
*Platform support for RRCPS
- Fault-tolerant design of RRCPS platforms and IoT infrastructure
- Software platforms with monitoring and recovery capabilities
- Failure detection and autonomous recovery with graceful performance
degradation
- Real-time scheduling, resource allocation, and middleware support for
RRCPS
- Virtualization to increase reliability of CPSs and the IoT
*Networked control for RRCPS
- Reliable networks and robust end-to-end communications
- Protocol design for real-time communications
- Cyber-physical security and resilience in networked control system
- Design, modeling, and implementation of resilient control
- Detection and analysis of attacks on control systems
*Security and safety of CPS and the IoT
- Evaluation of risks, threats, and attacks
- Analysis of vulnerabilities
- Attack resistance
- Intrusion detection
- Software reliability and audit
*Novel RRCPS and IoT applications
- Architectures
- Applications of artificial intelligence
- Testbed implementations and case studies
- Co-design of communication, computing and control for security and
privacy

Betreff: [TCCC-ANNOUNCE] [ACM BuildSys 2018] Call for Paper (Paper Registration: June 8)
-- Our sincere apologies if you receive multiple copies of the call --
BuildSys 2018 Call for Papers
Built environments and critical urban infrastructures, account for
over half of society’s energy consumption and are the mainstay of our
nation’s economy, security and health. Advances in the effective
integration of networked sensors, building controls, and physical
infrastructure are transforming our society. In the information age,
unprecedented research of cyber physical infrastructures includes: the
acquisition, integration, and analysis of big and heterogeneous data
such as sensors, devices, vehicles, buildings, and human, to tackle
the major issues that cities face, e.g., air pollution, increased
energy consumption and traffic congestion.
Systems optimization, data analysis and modeling applied to the built
environment are particularly important in improving our society, e.g.,
by increasing its sustainability and enhancing people’s
quality-of-life. These systems represent the foundation for emerging
“smart cities”.
The 5th ACM International Conference on Systems for Energy-Efficient
Built Environments (BuildSys 2018) will be held November 7-8, 2018 at
Shenzhen, China. This year at least five best papers in the ACM
BuildSys proceedings will be selected into the ACM Transactions on
Sensor Networks with minor revision, upon authors' agreement.
BuildSys is the premier conference for researchers and practitioners
working to develop and optimize smart infrastructure systems that are
driven by sophisticated sensing, computing, and control functions. We
invite original contributions including, but not limited to the
following:
* Applications in smart and connected communities;
* Sensing and control for urban infrastructure systems;
* Novel sensor methodologies, techniques, and tools;
* Sensing and control of electrical, gas, and water loads;
* Improved user interfaces to built infrastructure;
* Modeling, simulation, optimization, and control of heating, cooling,
lighting, ventilation, water usage and other resource flows in built
environments;
* Sensor systems and applications that enhance energy efficiency,
energy reliability, durability and comfort;
* Systems that integrate infrastructure with the smart grid to offer
demand response and ancillary services;
* Distributed generation, alternative energy, renewable sources, and
energy storage in buildings;
* Emerging standards for data collection, energy control, or
interoperability of disparate devices or systems;
* Sensing, modeling, and predicting the urban heartbeat including
sounds, movements, and radio spectrum;
* Human in the loop sensing and control for efficient usage of
electricity, gas, heating, water;
* Sensor systems for reliable occupancy counting;
* Long-lived and energy harvesting sensor systems;
* Scalable indoor localization and contextual computing;
* Security, privacy, safety, and reliability in built systems;
* Empirical studies of city-scale wireless communications;
* Environmental Sensing;
* Vehicle technologies and Traffic.
### Paper Types
We solicit two types of original submissions:
* Regular papers for oral presentation (10 pages)
* Notes papers for oral presentation (4 pages)
Notes papers are 4-page papers intended to discuss preliminary
research results, advocate new research directions, describe public
software or datasets, or present short projects that do not warrant a
10-page paper. Notes papers serve, in part, to encourage younger
researchers and research teams entering this field of research to
share their work. We also encourage Notes paper submissions from
industry participants that may not be able to devote resources to a
full paper. While Notes papers are not expected to have extensive
evaluations, they will be reviewed based on the novelty of their
ideas, potential for impact, and quality of presentation.
### Submission Guidelines
Submitted papers must be unpublished and must not be currently under
review for any other publication. Submissions must be full papers, at
most 10 single-spaced US Letter (8.5” x 11”) pages, including figures,
tables, references and appendices. Submissions for Note papers must be
at most 4 single-spaced US Letter (8.5"x11") pages, including figures,
tables, references and appendices. All submissions must use the LaTeX
(preferred) or Word styles found here. Authors must make a good faith
effort to anonymize their submissions by: (1) using the "anonymous"
option for the class and (2) using "anonsuppress" section where
appropriate. Papers that do not meet the size, formatting, and
anonymization requirements will not be reviewed. Please note that ACM
uses 9-pt fonts in all conference proceedings, and the style (both
LaTeX and Word) implicitly define the font size to be 9-pt. Please
refer to publication chair's Note as well as the User Guide of the new
class. Accepted submissions will be available on the ACM digital
library on the first day of the conference.
### Submission Link
All papers must be in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) and
submitted through the web submission form:
https://buildsys18.hotcrp.com/.
For notes papers, the submission site has a checkbox called "Notes
papers." Those who submit notes papers need to check this box to
indicate their paper types.
### Important Dates
* Abstract Registration**: June 8, 2018, AOE.
* Paper Submission: June 15, 2018, AOE. (Hard deadline)
* Paper Notification: August 20, 2018, AOE.
** For the abstract registration, you only need to enter the title of
the paper, the list of authors and their email addresses, the PC
conflicts, and a brief abstract (~150-250 words). After registering
the paper's abstract, you will have one additional week to upload the
PDF file of the paper (either a 10-page Full paper or a 4-page Notes
paper).
