As in previous years, the workshop will continue to focus on both established and emerging research topics, high-risk high-return ideas and proposals, and future research directions in multimedia networking and systems, in a single-track format the encourages active participation and discussions among academic and industry researchers and practitioners. Out-of-the-box ideas are particularly welcome. The workshop seeks papers in all areas of multimedia networking and systems. Authors are especially encouraged to submit papers with real-world experimental results and real data sets. All paper submissions will be handled electronically in the NOSSDAV 2017 submission web site. Submissions must be prepared in the ACM style, written in English, use 10 points font size, and no longer than 6 two-column single-spaced 8.5" x 11" (letter size) pages in PDF format. Authors of accepted papers will need to present their paper at NOSSDAV 2017 in person. The Proceedings of NOSSADAV 2017 will be published by ACM and distributed at the workshop electronically, and will also be included in the ACM Digital Library. The THEME -------------- Ever-growing volume of data and information is being captured from systems, machines and devices and made available to IT systems. The information is processed on-the-fly enabling IT-based management systems to make decisions for real-time control of the manufacturing process. This data capturing and collection for IT systems is often referred to as the Internet of Things (IoT). When adopted to the industrial automation systems where robustness, reliability, security and latency and jitters are highly desired performance requirements, it is often called Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). Industrial communication systems today primarily consist of legacy systems such as HART, Foundation FIELDBUS, CAN and Profibus - well-working and established industry-specific networks installed in millions of systems. In the last decades, there has been a push for IP-based technology which has made Ethernet become a popular communication infrastructure. But to meet the stringent timing requirements of industrial applications, it has been necessary to implement real-time functionality. The communication plays a central role for the availability of all relevant information in real-time. Furthermore, it is indisputable that the mobility of objects involved in the production as well as the necessary flexibility of the production require wireless communication systems. The need for wireless communication is steadily increasing in many automation applications. In order to fully exploit the potentials offered by wireless communication for monitoring, control and automation applications, there is a further need for time-constrained communication protocols that provide bounded latency together with high reliability or energy efficiency. In addition, wireless automation applications need to interact with legacy wired communications systems and provide equivalent levels of security and dependability. Furthermore, industrial settings are highly dynamic environments which call for the ability to adapt to changes in the operating conditions while still not violating the time-constraints of the applications. Given the above scenarios, there is a need to disseminate, streamline and investigate research findings coming from several different application domains, namely from factory automation to industrial process monitoring and control, from traffic, environmental, building and structural monitoring to mobile robotics, from vehicular communication to energy management and healthcare applications. This need is especially driven by the industry interest in enabling large-scale wireless deployments for the sake of flexible, competitive and cost-efficient production. The goal of this special section is to attract papers addressing the main research issues in design, development, adoption and applications of Industrial Wireless Sensor Networks and Industrial Internet-of-Things. IIoT provides a great opportunity to new gains in flexibility and productivity but also challenges as to how to merge existing installations to these new technologies. While traditional QoS research areas continue to attract much interest, recent exploration of Internet of things, data centers, virtualization, cloud and fog computing, cloud services, industrial communication systems, and “green” computing has motivated a new wave of research interest in service guarantees with QoS, and its related metrics of Quality of Experience (QoE), Quality of Protection (QoP), Software Quality, Knowledge Base Quality or, more broadly, Quality of Information Technology. For more than two decades, IWQoS has established itself as a highly reputable forum to present novel ideas on all QoS-related subjects. IWQoS 2017 sets the goal to continuing to be a premier symposium and an international forum for presentation and discussion of cutting-edge research in the field. The scope of IWQoS 2017 covers both newest theoretical and experimental research papers. Besides regular papers, this year, IWQoS includes the Work-in-Progress track inviting papers presenting new talent, risky ideas, and new subjects to be discussed in a creative and inspiring atmosphere of the event. It is a lively forum to discuss work among each other and with senior researchers, with a special focus on work in progress, upcoming research challenges, and new directions in the field of QoS. Submissions will be rigorously judged based on originality, significance, interest, clarity, relevance, and correctness. IWQoS aims at rapid dissemination of research results. Regular paper submissions should be no longer than 10 single-spaced, double-column pages with font-size of 10. Work in Progress Paper Submission Guidelines: IWQoS invites submission of manuscripts not previously published or under submission elsewhere, offering new and unexplored, and, even untested ideas in related to QoS that present creative thinking, whilst at the same time opening new opportunities and research directions with high-risk-high-reward outlook. Doctorate students, and those with entrepreneurial ambitions are invited to present. Submissions will be judged based on originality, creativity, and potential. To enable connected vehicles, it is of paramount importance to: i) design vehicular communication systems that enable road users and other actors to exchange information in real time and with high reliability; ii) enable pervasive sensing to monitor the status of vehicles and the surroundings; iii) develop data analytics tools for processing large amounts of data generated by the transportation infrastructure; iv) develop middleware platforms for information management and sharing; and v) define appropriate interaction interfaces between drivers and vehicles. The seamless integration and convergence of vehicular communication networks, information and transportation systems, and mobile devices and networks will face a number of technical, economical and regulatory challenges. To that end, SmartVehicles 2017 workshop will bring together academics, researchers, and industry professionals from around the world to discuss and exchange ideas on recent developments, current research challenges and future directions in the use of networking, communications, data management, and applications to realize vehicular mobility systems that are more connected, efficient, and safe. While traditional mobile systems respond to device mobility (such as smartphones), drones allow computer systems to actively control device location, allowing them to interact with the physical world in new ways and with new-found scale, efficiency, or precision. The startup cost to experiment with and build real drone applications has dropped dramatically in recent years, also thanks to technological developments driven by the smartphone industry and the rise of the “makers” and DIY movements. Recent popular applications employing drones are 3D-mapping, search and rescue, surveillance, farmland and construction monitoring, delivery of light-weight objects and products, and video production. DroNet welcomes contributions dealing with all facets of drones as mobile computing platforms, including system aspects, theoretical studies, algorithm and protocol design, as well as requirements, constraints, dependability, and regulations. We are particularly looking for papers reporting on experimental results of deployed systems, summaries of challenges or advancements, measurements, and innovative applications. The primary focus of this workshop will be on civilian applications of drones. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: Novel applications of drones Drone system design and deployment Drone ad-hoc networks Micro flying systems Aerial communication protocol design Drone operating systems Programming systems MAC and routing protocols for drone fleets Theoretical analysis and models for drone networks Solutions for sparse and dense fleets of drones Spectrum and regulatory issues Mission and context-aware solutions Drone coordination Mobility-aware and 3D communication Delay-tolerant networks and ferrying Energy-efficient operation and harvesting Integration of drones with backend systems Drone-based sensor networks Positioning and localization Swarm movement, coordination, and behavior Autonomous flight Artificial intelligence techniques for drones Vision and object tracking Human drone interaction Cooperative surveillance, smart cameras and sensors Acceptance, security, and privacy aspects Experimental results of aerial communication Drone testbeds DroNet invites submission of original work not previously published or under review at another conference or journal.
