Call for Papers
ACM SIGCOMM Workshop on Home Networks (HomeNets)
August 15, 2011
Toronto, Canada
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
HomeNets aims to bring together researchers and practitioners to share
new ideas and experiences and to discuss the challenges and important
questions posed by today's and future home networks. We solicit
stimulating, original, previously unpublished ideas on completed work,
position papers, and/or work-in-progress papers. We further encourage
papers that propose new research directions or could generate lively
debate at the workshop. While co-located with ACM Sigcomm, HomeNets
intends to solicit papers from the computer science and networking
community, as well as the HCI community that has also turned its
attention to the technology barriers faced by users in their homes.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
* Monitoring, troubleshooting and Management of Home Networks
* Measurement and Management of residential Internet Access
* Automatic Configuration of Home Networks (DLNA, UPnP, etc)

SENSEAPP 2011
SIXTH IEEE INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON PRACTICAL ISSUES IN
BUILDING SENSOR NETWORK APPLICATIONS
(in conjunction with IEEE LCN 2011)
Bonn, Germany
4 - 7 October 2011
Web: http://www.cse.unsw.edu.au/~senseapp
CALL FOR PAPERS
Sensor nodes are tiny autonomous devices that combine sensing, computing
and wireless communication capabilities. These nodes are deeply embedded
into the physical surroundings, and gather and process information such
as temperature, humidity, light characteristics, seismic activities or
images and sound samples from the physical world. Networked systems of
such sensors are expected to be used in a variety of applications
including habitat monitoring, precision agriculture, disaster recovery
operations, healthcare and supply chain management. Real-world sensor
network deployments and prototypic implementations are still not
commonplace. However, experiences gained in such deployments are crucial
for the sensor network research community. These results are needed to
refine assumptions made when designing hardware, software, protocols and
mechanisms for sensor networks.
This workshop aims at bringing together researchers from academia and
industry to showcase their work and obtain feedback. We expect the
workshop to act as a forum for the sensor network research community to
discuss open issues, novel solutions and the future development of
wireless sensor networks in general. We encourage contributions
describing innovative work in the realm of wireless sensor networks.

Dear colleagues,
Below please find the call for papers for The 6th ACM International
Workshop on Mobility in the Evolving Internet Architecture (MobiArch 2011):
http://mobiarch11.cs.ucl.ac.uk/
Important Dates:
Submission Deadline: March 18, 2011, 11:59 PM EST (deadline extended!)
Acceptance Notification: March 31, 2011
Camera Ready Due: April 24, 2011
Technical Area
With recent advances in technologies for wireless access (e.g., WiFi,
3G, and 4G) and mobile devices (e.g., smartphones, netbooks, and
tablets), mobility has become a fundamental characteristic of today's
Internet. Yet, basic architectural issues related to mobility such as
efficient mobility management, the locator-identifier split,
multi-homing, security, and various operational, deployment concerns are
still in their early stages of exploration. Moreover, the Internet
architecture itself, its
end-to-end principles, and business models require rethinking due to the
massive penetration of mobility into the Internet. For instance, an
appropriate system that allows communicating with a mobile host requires
addressing several fundamental issues with the Internet architecture,
such as ability to locate the mobile host/service, preserving ongoing
communications upon changes of locations, as well as seamless and secure
handover management. As another example, the emerging wireless
technologies such as those in the 60 GHz and whitespace bands may pose
additional challenges since they may introduce
design principles different from the packet-switched Internet.
MobiArch 2011 welcomes submissions, from both researchers and
practitioners, in exploration of recent advances in architectures,
protocols, and experiences with emerging technologies on various
mobility issues over the Internet, with an emphasis on wireless
infrastructures and mobility patterns for mobility support, new mobility
protocols, service discovery, routing and location management, mobile
network performance evaluation and modelling, multi-homing, security,
architectural impacts and deployment considerations. We encourage
submission of both work-in-progress and position papers.
The workshop will address all architectural issues and system support
for mobility in the Internet, including:
• Impacts of new wireless technologies/services, networking
technologies, and mobility patterns on Internet architecture.
• Architectures and protocols for mobility support in the Internet,
ranging from approaches in the link, network, and transport layers, to
the application layer and cross-layer design.
• Architectures and protocols for service partitioning, code offloading,
and data center management to support mobile devices in the compute cloud.
• Location management, robustness, routing, locator/identifier split,
multi-homing and load sharing issues.
• Security, dependability, and privacy issues in mobility networks, and
their impacts on Internet architecture.
• Architectures and mechanisms for wireless/mobile connectivity in
remote areas and developing countries.
• Performance issues with mobility in the Internet.
• QoS and middlebox issues in mobility networks and impacts on Internet
architecture.
• Economic and deployment issues of mobility solutions (infrastructure
and devices).
• Impact of social aspects on mobility architectures, mobile application
and protocol design.

Submitted papers must be no more than 6 pages long, with no characters
in smaller than 10 point fonts. Paper submission
will be handled via HotCRP (http://mobiarch11.cs.ucl.ac.uk/hotcrp).

Workshop on
Management of Cloud Systems (MoCS 2011)
June 28th, 2011
Kerkyra (Corfu), Greece
organized in association with the
Fifteenth IEEE Symposium on Computers and Communications (ISCC 2011)
Sponsored by (pending approval)
IEEE Computer Society and IEEE Communications Society
Endorsed by the IEEE Technical Committee on
Communications Systems Integration and Modeling (CSIM)
The vision of Cloud computing is becoming a reality thanks to the
recent advances in several significant computer and communications
research areas, spanning from grid/virtualization/utility computing to
Web 2.0 and Service Oriented Computing (SOC). After the initial hype,
at the current stage, several ongoing research efforts are focusing
on the several open management aspects of the Cloud, such as
interoperability, scalability, reliability, power management, and
confidentiality/auditability, with the final goal to make Cloud
technologies and services more mature so to boost and to facilitate
a more widespread industrial uptake of Cloud systems. Despite the
several recent efforts on Cloud systems, it is still unclear whether
current solutions are able to withstand the abrupt and unpredictably
changes imposed by the emergent Cloud application scenarios, where
services and the whole software stacks (from the kernel upward) have
to scale up and down fast by exploiting highly distributed and
heterogeneous virtualized resources.
The ambition and mission of MoCS 2011 is to put on the foreground all
above issues, and to bring together different ongoing research efforts
on the management of Cloud systems. This year, special focus will be
on the challenging management issues related to the delivery of
efficient Green computing solutions over the Cloud.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following:
* Novel adaptive management solutions for scalable, maintainable,
cost-effective Cloud provision, at all software stack layers;
* New models and paradigms for the management of Cloud services at the
host level and within/between data centres (intra-/inter-domain);
* Analytical and simulation models and tools to measure systems
ability to scale and to achieve relevant energy savings;
* New methods and tools able to identify and enforce optimal trade-
offs between performance, energy consumption, safety, and security;
* Emerging standards for interoperability (resource virtualization,
specific computing interfaces, etc.), also between public and
private Clouds;
* Experimentation testbeds, field trials and empirical evaluations,
and measurement studies.

AIM AND SCOPE
-------------
MONAMI 2011 aims at bringing together top researchers, academics and
practitioners specializing in the area of Mobile Network Management (MNM)
and Service Management.
Multiaccess and resource management, mobility management, and network
management have emerged as core topics in the design, deployment and
operation of current and future networks. Yet, they are treated as
separate, isolated domains with very little interaction between the
experts in these fields and lack cross-pollination. MONAMI 2011 offers the
opportunity to leading researchers, industry professionals and academics
around the world to meet and discuss the latest advances in these areas
and present results related to technologies for true plug-and-play
networking, efficient use of all infrastructure investments, and access
competition. The aim of the forum is to disseminate the latest innovative
mobile network solutions for increased competition and cooperation in an
environment with a multitude of access technologies, network operators and
business actors.
CALL FOR PAPERS
---------------
MONAMI 2011 invites researchers to submit papers that follow either
evolutionary approaches based on current IP-centered architectures or
introduce revolutionary MNM approaches and new paradigms. Papers reporting
experimental and empirical studies as well as implementation/industry
results (including testbeds and field trials) are also welcome.
Topics of particular interest include:
- Multiaccess networks and resource management
- Future Internet architectures for mobile network management
- Energy efficiency for multiaccess networks
