Developing a smart city to better support growing urban population is a global and complex challenge and involves interdisciplinary fields. Key ‘smart’ sectors include transportation, smart building, energy, health care, and water systems. SmartCity-2025 is aiming to be a premier international conference in smart city. This conference is to bring together computer scientists, industrial engineers and researchers to discuss and exchange experimental or theoretical results, novel designs, work-in-progress, experience, case studies, and trend-setting ideas in the area of smart city. SmartCity-2025 will be hosted in Exeter, the capital city of Devon and provides the county with a central base for education, medicine, religion, commerce and culture. Prospective authors are invited to submit their papers to SmartCity-2025. All accepted papers are expected to be included in IEEE Xplore and will be indexed by Engineering Index (EI). The authors of selected best papers will be invited post conference to extend their contributions for special issues of prestigious journals to be planned in conjunction with the conference. SCOPE AND TOPICS ================ Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: Track 1: Smart City Systems Track 2: Data Processing Technology Track 3: Data Systems Track 4: Data Applications PAPER SUBMISSION GUIDELINE ========================== All papers need to be submitted electronically through the conference submission website (https://hpcn.exeter.ac.uk/smartcity/) with PDF format. The materials presented in the papers should not be published or under submission elsewhere. Each paper is limited to 8 pages (or 12 pages with over length charge) including figures and references using IEEE Computer Society Proceedings Manuscripts style (two columns, single-spaced, 10 fonts). Once accepted, the paper will be included into the IEEE conference proceedings published by IEEE Computer Society Press (indexed by EI). At least one of the authors of any accepted paper is requested to register the paper at the conference. CALL FOR WORKSHOP PROPOSALS ============================== SmartCity-2025 is inviting proposals for high-quality workshops to complement its scientific program. Workshop topics should fall within the broad area of Smart City. The workshop organizers are highly encouraged to include interactive and hands-on working sessions. The organizers of approved workshops are responsible for advertising their workshops, collecting papers, managing the review process, making accepted papers available to workshop participants (e.g., workshop website). Conference facilities such as meeting rooms, wireless Internet and meals will be provided by the main conference local organizers. The emerging IoT paradigm with the Big Data paradigm, provides the foundations to extract common knowledge from data made available by humans, institutions, or smart objects for supporting decision making. The paradigms of Crowdsourcing and Mobile Crowdsensing (MCS) have long been used to seek contributions from a crowd of participants who commit to perform certain agreed tasks. With the omnipresence of IoT, underpinned by mobile smart devices, MCS is gaining increased interest where smart mobile devices and IoT devices undertake the task of collecting data about phenomena of interest. Although fascinating and potentially disruptive, this paradigm inherently carries a set of technical challenges at various levels, which should be studied by different research communities: battery efficiency, efficient participant recruiting, data aggregation and processing, data quality, incentivization techniques, mobility, application semantics and privacy to name some of the hot facets of MCS. In line with such objectives, this workshop aims to provide a platform for researchers and practitioners to discuss and share the current and emerging state-of-the-art, challenges and solutions in MCS specifically targeting Smart Cities. New applications, such as virtual reality and smart building control, have emerged due to the large number of resources and services brought by cloud computing. However, the delay-sensitive applications face the problem of large latency, especially when several smart devices and objects are getting involved in human’s life such as the case of smart cities or Internet of Things. Therefore, cloud computing is unable to meet the requirements of low latency, location awareness, and mobility support. To solve this problem, researchers have introduced a trusted and dependable solution through the Fog and the Mobile Edge Computing (FMEC) to put the services and resources of the cloud closer to users, which facilitate the leveraging of available services and resources in the edge networks. By this, we are moving from the core (cloud data centers) to the edge of the network closer to the users. FMEC dependability is based on providing user centric service. The purpose of Fog and the Mobile Edge Computing is to run the heavy real-time applications at the network edge directly using the billions of connected mobile devices. Several features enable the Fog and the Mobile Edge Computing to be a perfect paradigm to the aforementioned purpose, which are the dense geographical deployment of servers, supporting mobility and the closeness to users. As in every new technology, some challenges face the vision of the Fog and the Mobile Edge Computing, which are the administrative policies and security concerns (i.e. secure data storage, secure computation, network security, data privacy, usage privacy, location privacy, etc). FMEC 2025 conference aims to investigate the opportunities and requirements for Mobile Edge Computing dominance. In addition, it seeks for novel contributions that help mitigate Mobile Edge Computing challenges. That is, the objective of FMEC 2025 is to provide a forum for scientists, engineers, and researchers to discuss and exchange new ideas, novel results and experience on all aspects of Fog and Mobile Edge Computing (FMEC). FMEC 2025 is Technically Co-Sponsored by IEEE Florida Section.
