Paper abstract registration: November 16, 2007
Paper submission deadline: November 22, 2007 5pm PT
===================================================
The 9th ACM International Symposium on Mobile Ad Hoc Networking and
Computing
May 26-30, 2008, Hong Kong
http://www.sigmobile.org/mobihoc/2008
Sponsored by ACM SIGMOBILE
===================================================
ACM MobiHoc is the premier international symposium dedicated to addressing
challenges emerging from the design and applications of wireless
communication networks. This symposium will be held in Hong Kong during
the week of May 26, 2008. It will bring together researchers and
practitioners from a broad spectrum of wireless networking research to
present the most up-to-date results and achievements in the field. The
symposium will include a highly selective technical program, hands-on
research demonstrations, a distinguished keynote address, panels, and
tutorials.
We invite paper, poster, and demonstration submissions on a variety of
wireless ad hoc networks such as mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs), wireless
mesh networks, wireless sensor networks, wireless personal area networks,
vehicular networks, RFID networks, and hybrid networks including unmanned
aerial vehicles and underwater unmanned vehicles.
The symposium solicits high-quality theoretical as well as practical works
on a broad range of issues important to the design, performance control,
and security of wireless ad hoc networks. Areas of interest include but
are not limited to:
- Transport, Network, and MAC protocol design
- Cross-Layer Design and Control
- Energy Efficiency
- Modeling and Performance Analysis
- Network control
- Distributed algorithms
- Computational Complexity and Approximability
- Scaling Laws and Fundamental Limits
- Network Coding
- Optimization based techniques
- Location Discovery
- Functional Computation and Data Aggregation
- Distributed Sensing, Coordination, and Control
- Network Security, Privacy, and Trust
- Resiliency, Fault tolerance, and Reliability
- Quality of Service
- System design and Testbeds
- Measurements and Data Collection
The symposium especially encourages the submission of exploratory studies
that identify new challenges in the network design, innovative services,
and applications that may stimulate far-reaching future research.
This year's symposium will introduce a Best Paper Award among all the
papers submitted to the conference.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
All submissions will be handled electronically and must be in PDF format.
Papers must not exceed 10 pages (US letter size, 8.5 x 11 inches)
including text, figures and references. The font size must be at least 10
points. Accepted papers will be published in the symposium proceedings.
All submitted papers would be judged based on their quality through
double-blind reviewing, where the identities of the authors are withheld
from the reviewers. Authors' names must NOT appear in the paper or in the
PDF file. Submitted papers must not be currently under review for any
other publication. Instructions on paper submission and formatting are
available on the symposium webpage. Please direct any questions about the
paper submission process to the Program Co-Chairs.

##################### ATC-08 Call For Papers ######################
The 5th International Conference on Autonomic and Trusted Computing
- Bring Safe, Self-x and Organic Computing Systems into Reality -
http://www.ux.uis.no/atc08/
Organized by
Oslo University College and University of Stavanger, Norway
Technical Sponsorship by
the IEEE Task Force on Intelligent Ubiquitous Computing
Oslo, Norway, June 23-25, 2008
###################################################################
Computing systems including hardware, software, communication and
networks are growing dramatically in both scale and heterogeneity,
becoming overly complex. Such complexity is getting even more critical
with the ubiquitous permeation of embedded devices and other pervasive
systems. To cope with the growing and ubiquitous complexity, Autonomic
Computing (AC) focuses on self-manageable computing and communication
systems that exhibit self-awareness, self-configuration,
self-optimization, self-healing, self-protection and other self-x
operations to the maximum extent possible without human intervention
or guidance. Organic Computing (OC) additionally emphasizes
natural-analogue concepts like self-organization and controlled
emergence.
Any autonomic or organic system must be trustworthy to avoid the risk
of losing control and retain confidence that the system will not
fail. Trust and/or distrust relationships in the Internet and in
pervasive infrastructures are key factors to enable dynamic
interaction and cooperation of various users, systems and services.
Trusted/Trustworthy Computing (TC) aims at making computing and
communication systems as well as services available, predictable,
traceable, controllable, assessable, sustainable, dependable,
persist-able, security/privacy protect-able, etc.
A series of grand challenges exist to achieve practical
self-manageable autonomic systems with truly trustworthy services.
ATC-08 addresses the most innovative research and development in these
challenging areas and includes all technical aspects related to
autonomic/organic computing (AC/OC) and trusted computing (TC).
ATC-08 is a successor of the First Int'l Workshop on Trusted and
Autonomic Ubiquitous and Embedded Systems (TAUES-05, Japan), the Int'l
Workshop on Trusted and Autonomic Computing Systems (TACS-06,
Austria), the 3rd International Conference on Autonomic and Trusted
Computing (ATC-06, China), and the 4th International Conference on
Autonomic and Trusted Computing (ATC-07, Hong Kong).
Topics include but are not limited to the following:
- AC/OC Theory and Models
Nervous/organic models, negotiation, cooperation, competition,
self-organization, emergence, etc.
- AC/OC Architectures and Systems
Autonomic elements & their relationship, frameworks, middleware,
observer/controller architectures, etc.
- AC/OC Components and Modules
Memory, storage, database, device, server, proxy, software, OS, I/O, etc.

SCOPE OF THE SYMPOSIUM
Research in the area of wireless communication networks has recently
experienced an unprecedented embrace by both industry and academia.
Interest has been fueled by advances that promise exponential gains in
the error performance of networks with reduced structure, little central
oversight, and limited computational capabilities. The research area's
utility and challenging nature is demonstrated both by the contributions
from a variety of disciplines, such as information theory, discrete
mathematics, game theory and finance, as well as from the effort to
unify the above and to bring forth the inherent complexities of
multi-terminal communication and interaction.
In pace with the above challenges, the workshop will promote new results
which explore the theoretical limitations of network communications,
propose novel network coding schemes, present relaying methods and
cooperation protocols, and investigate fundamental tradeoffs between
cooperation and competition for resource allocation. The aim being to
provide the participants with an in-depth and unifying exposition to the
complex nature of analyzing, coding, cooperating and competing in
wireless networks, the workshop will seek to expose the intricacies of
multi-terminal network theory and the advanced mathematical structures
that support network communication and interactions.
TOPICS OF INTEREST
In the framework of communication, cooperation and competition over
wireless networks, papers are solicited in, but not limited to, the
following directions.
? Cooperative diversity
? Network coding techniques
? Information theoretic bounds
? Stochastic network optimization
? Queueing theoretic aspects
? Application of game theory tools
? Application to sensor networks

Call for papers:
Welcome to RAWNET'08
Tomorrow's wireless network must be optimized to offer enhanced rate
performance, at higher and often heterogenous quality-of-service levels,
in user scenarios with ever increasing mobilily. To meet these
challenges, system designers can resort to a number of tools and
techniques at PHY, MAC or higher layers of the protocol stack. In order
to increase the network efficiency (Bit/Sec/Hz per Euro/Dollar) while
providing the required QoS, a more efficient utilization of the spectral
resource across the network will be required. Smart resource allocation
schemes should help provide the customer with a smooth user experience
while efficiently tackling interference issues in agressive reuse
environment, whether in cellular or adhoc scenarios. Ideally, they
should be aware, i.e. jointly designed with lower layer algorithms
(multiple antenna systems, spatial division multiple access, OFDMA,
multi-cell cooperative coding) and potentialy upper layers as well
(transport/routing/application).
Specific topics of interest
This workshop seeks original work within the fields described by (but
not limited to) the bullets below:
* User scheduling (single cell /multicell /OFDMA);
* Cross-layer design (e.g. combined MIMO - Resource allocation schemes)
* Power control and energy-efficient communication;
* Resource allocation-based interference mitigation;
* Cooperation schemes for interference control, range extension
(multicell, multihop cooperation);
* Performance evaluation methods for wireless networks;
* Game theoretic resource allocation;
* Pricing-based, auction-based schemes in ad-hoc/cellular networks;
* Fairness vs. performance issues
Submission guidelines

IEEE PIMRC 2008
Cannes, French Riviera, France
14-18 September 2008
===============================================================================================
Overview:
The annual IEEE International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio
Communications (PIMRC) is one of the premier conferences in the wireless research
arena and has a long history of bringing together academia, industry and regulatory
bodies. Today, it has become one of IEEE ComSoc's flagship conferences in telecommunications.
The 19th edition of PIMRC will be held from 14-18 September 2008 in glamorous Cannes,
French Riviera, France, at the "Palais des Festivals de Cannes" where traditionally the
Cannes Film Festival is being held. With Cannes being one of the most charming places on
earth, we expect this to be a truly special conference.
Focus:
PIMRC 2008 will provide a global forum for presenting the most recent advances, the future
technical challenges and business opportunities that comprise the contemporary landscape in
wireless communications. The organizers endeavour to attract contributions covering not only
conventional areas of wireless communications (e.g., physical layer), but also emerging areas
with high potential for essential scientific and societal impact such as wireless sensors for
biomedical applications, non-trivial pervasive computing services and ambient technologies.
The latter areas are expected to facilitate the development of a broad vision of innovative
future applications in wireless communications. The high quality IEEE endorsed technical programme,
will also include tutorials, workshops, exhibitions, panel discussions and keynote presentations
from leading experts coming from the academic community, industry, as well as regulatory and
standardisation bodies.
Call for Papers:
Authors are invited to submit high-quality papers describing original and previously unpublished
contributions in a wide range of topics in wireless communications. These topics are clustered
into the following three major categories:
1) Physical Layer and MAC
2) Mobile and Wireless Networks
3) Applications, Services and Business Models
Papers should be in English, strictly not exceeding 5 double-column pages. Authors should use the
relevant IEEE template, ensuring an IEEE Xplore compatible PDF-format. To access the full list of
topics, submission guidelines, as well as venue and travel information please visit www.pimrc2008.org.
