CALL FOR PAPERS
The Fifth ACM International Symposium on Mobile Ad Hoc
Networking and Computing
MobiHoc 2004
www.sigmobile.org/mobihoc/2004/
May 24-26, 2004
Tokyo, Japan
MobiHoc 2004 is the fifth of a series of annual meetings sponsored by
ACM SIGMOBILE, focusing on the latest research in the rapidly growing
area of mobile ad hoc networking and computing. The first MobiHoc was
held in 2000 in Boston, Massachusetts, as a workshop affiliated with
the MobiCom conference also sponsored by SIGMOBILE. Since then, MobiHoc
has become a separate symposium, held in 2001 at Long Beach,
California, in 2002 at Lausanne, Switzerland, in 2003 at Annapolis,
Maryland, and now in 2004 at Tokyo, Japan.
PAPERS:
Technical papers describing original, previously unpublished research,
not currently under review by another conference or journal, are
solicited. In general this symposium is interested in papers that
address networking or computing problems in the context of mobile and
wireless ad hoc networks, ad hoc computing systems, and sensor
networks, with the focus being on issues above the physical layer.
Specific topics of interest include the following:
* Routing protocols (unicast, multicast, geocast, content-based, etc.)
* Media access techniques
* Transport-layer issues
* Hardware and software platforms, systems, and testbeds
* Applications for ad hoc networks
* Power-aware, low-power, and energy-efficient designs
* Quality-of-service issues
* Security and fault tolerance issues
* Self-configuration in ad hoc networks
* Processing and fusion of data in sensor networks
* Location discovery and management
* Timing synchronization
* Distributed algorithms for ad hoc networks
* Biologically inspired mechanisms
* Ad hoc networks of autonomous intelligent systems
* Analytic methods and modeling for performance evaluation
* Cross-layer interactions, including between higher and physical layers
* Other ad hoc networking and computing topics above the physical layer
Please consult the program co-chairs Charlie Perkins
<charles.perkins(a)nokia.com> and Leandros Tassiulas <leandros(a)uth.gr> if
you are uncertain whether your paper falls within the scope of the
symposium.
SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS:
All submissions will be handled electronically and must be in PDF or
PostScript format. Papers must not exceed 15 pages (US "Letter" size,
8.5 x 11 inches) including text, figures and references. The font size
must be at least 10 points. Accepted papers will be published in the
symposium proceedings.
We will adopt a double-blind process for paper review, where the
identities of the authors are withheld from the reviewers. Authors'
names and their affiliations must not be revealed or mentioned anywhere
in the paper or in the PDF or PostScript file. Submitted papers should
describe original research, not published and not currently under review
for any other conference or journal. Papers not following these

/*7th International Conference on Electronic Commerce Research
Call for Papers (Submission deadline of February 1, 2004)
*INFOMART, Dallas, June 10-13, 2004
http://tecom.cox.smu.edu/ICECR/ICECR7/
[My apologies if you receive multiple copies of this message]
*Scope and Goals of the Conference*
Over the past few years, /electronic commerce/ has emerged as a dramatic
new model of conducting business. Most companies are either using or
considering the use of e-business. Advances in telecommunications,
automated processes, decision technologies, economics, and management
are already forcing dramatic changes in a variety of industries, ranging
from banking and finance to music and entertainment. Yet, the electronic
business space is still in a relatively early state of evolution, and
many of the significant advances in understanding and implementing
e-commerce are occurring concurrently in academia and industry. Thus,
dialogue on this field between academia and industry is important. As
electronic business spans a wide range of reference disciplines, forums
focusing on e-commerce research are vital to stimulate the necessary
interactions and knowledge sharing across this broad community.
The */Seven^th /* */International Conference on Electronic Commerce
Research ICECR-7 /*is intended to address these needs. The series of
ICECR conferences established a history of success in bringing together
academic and industrial researchers from various fields on an ongoing,
annual basis to discuss developments and challenges of electronic
business understood in the largest possible sense of the term. The aim
of ICECR-7 is to continue this tradition and provide a high quality
forum for the presentation of results, exchange of ideas, and scientific
discussions on challenges, methodologies, new technologies and their
impact, computational and deployment issues, policies and advanced
applications in the area of e-business. Our goal is to open the
conference to participants from all fields, in particular,
telecommunications, computer science, management sciences, and
operations research, economy, legal and policy studies. The conference
will combine technical presentations grouped in research sessions, with
industry and research plenary speakers, as well as industry-lead panels.
Following the earlier successful meetings held in Nashville, Dallas, and
Montréal, the */International Conference on Electronic Commerce
Research/* its seven^th edition will be held at INFOMART, Dallas, Texas.
INFOMART is an ideal facility for a conference that brings together
researchers from all over the world and, in particular, from Europe,
Asia, North and South America.
Papers submitted for presentation at the conference will be refereed and
selected based on the full paper or an extended abstract of 5 to 10
pages. The abstracts have to be submitted through E-mail, by February 1,
2004 to Professor Bezalel Gavish <mailto:gavishb@charter.net>. All
papers selected for presentation will be published in the conference
proceedings. Refereed full papers will be considered for publication in
the Electronic Commerce Research
<http://www.wkap.nl/journalhome.htm/1389-5753> Journal or the
Telecommunication Systems Journal. Further information and instructions
will be announced later and will be posted on the conference web site.

September 29 - October 1, 2004
Barcelona, Catalunya, Spain
QofIS'04 information will be available soon at http://www.qofis.org
Scope
-----
The purpose of QofIS 2004 is to present and discuss design and implementation techniques for providing quality of service in the Internet. The impact of emerging terminals, mobility and embedded systems will create a new environment where networks will be ambient. New challenges are open by this new space where networks of interest ranging from personal networks to large-scale application networks will need to be designed and often integrated. Protocol mechanisms for supporting quality of service at the different layers of the networks will need to be assessed and eventually redesigned in such environments. The focus of this year's workshop is on the provisioning of Quality of Service in the Emerging Networking Panorama, assessed by results of experiments carried out in simulation platforms and test-beds, and given the progressive irruption of optical technologies.
This workshop, at its fifth international event, is organized under the umbrella of the E-NEXT Network of Excellence on "Emerging Networking Experiments and Technologies", which will start early in 2004.
Along with presentations of papers and keynote speeches, QofIS 2004 will offer two one day workshops on October 1, namely the Fourth International Workshop on Internet Charging and QoS Technology (ICQT'04) and the First International Workshop on QoS Routing (WQoSR'04)
Authors are invited to submit work on issues related to, but not limited by, the following list of topics:
- Traffic modeling and classification
- QoS requirements, mapping and negotiation
- Policing, scheduling and metering
- Signaling, session management
- Traffic engineering, service dimensioning
- End-system QoS support
- Policy-based QoS management
- QoS in wireless networks
- Technologies for self-aware networking
- QoS in sensor networks
- QoS in Metropolitan Optical Networks
- QoS in Optical Packet Switching Networks
- QoS in peer-to-peer networks
- Active networking for QoS
